Can't get past the password

I have a wrt54g router. It orks great for the one wireless laptop that I have. When I bring home a new wireless device, Dell PDA, iPhone, Apple laptop they ask for the password-but will not allow them to get on to the network. Where do I start looking?

It sounds like you have wireless encryption setup.
You will need this key in order for any other wireless device to connect to your network.
Using the computer that can access the internet, goto your router if you didn't change its IP address and default password typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar for Internet Explorer should bring up a Username and Password box. There is no user name and the default password is admin.
Once your gotten that far it should show a web page, this is the config screen for the router. Clicking on the "wireless" tab should take you to the wireless configuration, Under where the wireless tab was should now be a "wireless security" tab. Clicking on it should take you to a page that will have entries for Key 1, Key 2, etc. There should also be a key selected. Copy that key field and use it for the other devices.

In iWeb can't get past the password challenge

I have been trying all evening to use iWeb to log in via FTP to my new Network Solutions web hosting site to upload my first web pages. I keep getting an incorrect password message from iWeb even though, using the same login credentials, I can successfully login with FTP from my Windows machine so I am certain the login credentials are correct. Using iWeb it keeps rejecting my password. I am using Mac OS X 10.7.2 and iWeb 3.0.4
After a few decades using a Windows machine I have bought a 27" iMac for Christmas and really love it. This is my first encounter with frustration but I've tried everything I know. I have looked to see if there was a password file in the Home/Library/Preferences but do not see the iWeb file that has been referenced in earlier responses to similar questions.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.

Claudius,either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions. I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.I had to change the primary mail of that account.I was told "no can do" by skype support.I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address. once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account. What caused you to get the impression that I was writing something else? furthermore this sentence - "The solution you described in your initial message isn't actually once since all the time you were operating on different account that weren't actually linked" does not make sense, I think you mis-edited it.and I need to point out that you are incorrect. Hi!I ran into the same problem as a lot of other people seem to have done. I am changing ISP and because of that I have to change my mail address from my 10 year old [e-mail removed for privacy and security] to something else, this time I choose to use an outlook.com address in the hope that I will be able to keep that a bit longer. last week I realized that my skype account had my old expiring address as the primary mail, and that the primary mail was the only mail that skype will use for communication with me - I already had 2 other mail addresses in my skype profile (outlook.com and gmail). The skype account was created last summer using my microsoft account, and the microsoft account is the only means I have for accessing the skype account. So I logged on and opended the profile page, went on to edit the info and marked my outlook mail as the primary, clicked save and got the password question. I entered the password I use for logging on (ie the microsoft account password), but was told that the password was wrong. I tried everything and some more things, I spent 40-50 minutes on a text chat with skype support, only to be told that it can't be done and that the skype account was hard tied to the mail address I had used when creating the account, which I found very strange as I had used my microsoft account. yes, when I created the skype account, the only mail I had connected to the microsoft account was my "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]" mail, but I have since then, without any problems, been able to create an outlook.com address, and have that added, added a gmail account, set the outlook.com as the primary for the microsoft account and remove the "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]" address from the microsoft account. no problem.The problem is actually worse as the mail account will be free for use after april 1, which means that a person claiming that mail address will risk getting extremely confusing mails regarding a skype account they don't have, they will have difficulties creating a skype account of their own, AND they can take over my skype account (as they are the owners of the mail address) and I won't be able to stop them. It is the password for this "hidden" account you have to enter when you want to change the primary password It turns out that I was also unable to connect my facebook account to my skype account for the very same reason, but here it was more obvious, as I had to enter my skype username and passwor when connecting the accounts, and the microsoft account wasn't accepted there . so what do you need to do? well - those of you who have a smart tv (or some other device) that can't log on to skype using a microsoft account, have already done the work (provided you use that tv/device with skype) you log on to skype and open the account settings page, on the line below "microsoft account [email protected] unlink change microsoft password" you'll see a line saying "TV or Device" or something similar (I have no idea what the english text is) here you have a link you can click on where you will be prompted to enter the password for your "live:username" account. once you have done that you get instructions saying that for smart TVs etc, you enter "live:username" as the skye user and the newly created password as your password.The good news is that you now have 1) the identity of your skype user ("live:" and your name where the user name is the combined string "live:username" which in my case was "live:myname"); and 2) a password that is valid for your skype account. what I did next was open up the profile page, edit the profile, mark the outlook.com mail address asthe primary, click save and when prompted for the password, I entered the password I set in the previous step, and that's it, I now had a new primary mail (I got the confirmation mai sent to the new mail address right after I updated the info in skype). I also successfully removed my soon defunct mail address from the mail address list in my skype account, and I then connected my facebook account to my skype account (using live:myname ase the username and my shiny new password). So at the moment I have three different methods available to me when logging in to skype:- my microsoft account- my skype user (live:myname)- my facebook account.the ONLY thing to be aware of is that the name of the microsoft account, as presented on the account settings page in skype, still is my old [e-mail removed for privacy and security] mail address NOTE that this is a presentation issue only, someone thought that it was a good idea to save the original name of the microsoft account in the skype database and use that for presentation. It is NOT used when logging on, when you log on it will use the UID of you rmicrosoft account. if it disturbs you, you can always disconnect you rmicrosoft account from your skype account and reconnect it, and you should see the current mail address associated with the microsoft account. (this is safe to do because you have at least one other method to log on ) I hope that skype will amend their FAQ with this info. I did enter into a second chat with skype support, explaining what I díd to resolve the problem they failed to solve. so there it at least 2 people at skype support who know how to resolve the problem. -cheers,Anders

Trying to make changes in Terminal but can't get past the password request

I am trying to run Piano Wizard from a managed accout but I get this: Data.pwf missing
I found these FIX instructions on their web site but I can't get it to work....
METHOD1: If you know the password of the owner account of the machine. Please follow only these instructions. The changes outlined below will modify only the Piano Wizard files.
Terminal: (These instructions are for a standard install with the game installed to Applications) refers to the user account that owns the machine – you will have to know the name of this admin user (i.e. bob)
1. Launch Terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
2. "cd /Applications"
3. "su "
4. enter the password and hit enter
5. "chmod -R 755 Piano Wizard.app/"
We are now done - close Terminal by hit COMMAND-Q (Apple-Q) That's it - launch Piano Wizard
When I launch Terminal I get - "computer name":~"admin name"$, I follow steps 1-3 not problem...
I get to step #4, put in my password then I get this "su: Sorry"
Please help, I only know of one password...is there another one somewhere?

I can't get past the password grey screen on my new Mac Book Pro.

I have a new Mac Book Pro. I transferred info from my old computer, and when I went to log into the new one, it took me as far as the password screen, and I can get no farther. I click on my name, put in my password, and it jiggles...as if it is wrong. News to me - as I used the same password that I have used for years on my computer.
I get a message that says, "If you forgot your password, you can reset it using your Apple ID." There is a little arrow there, but when you press it, the message disappears, and nothing happens.
There is a guest profile set up, that apparently has a mystery password in it as well.... I am locked out of my new computer. Very frustrated!!!

You have a problem. Try this, but if the email address used to send you the notification is the disabled email account, then you will be unable to get the icloud account active again.
To change your password go to http://appleid.apple.com and click on 'Manage Your Apple ID'. Log in, and click 'Security & Password' in the list at left.

How do you ever get to set up the eprint? I can't get past the password.

This is probably the worst setup screen I have encountered. What I type does not seem to ever be in the right place.

Are you talking about the ePrintCenter website? I have never encountered the issue that you are speaking of on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or FireFox and I use it daily. If it is not displaying properly, I would recommend using a different browser. It's actually pretty simple. As soon as you register and log in, all you have to do is press the "Add Printer" button and enter your printer code, then customize your ePrint email address and hit save.

First it said it was an existing ID and I should go to iforgot and reset my password.
I did, but still keep getting the error message.
Then I entered the serial number online support and it said the ID was another account. Would that be the seller?
Do I need to get them to unregister under their name before I can proceed? Or...
Please help. I start new job on Monday that required me to have a smartphone. I need it up and running.

Yes, you have encountered Activation Lock (Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support). The only way that phone will ever be usable is if the owner the phone is locked to releases it (see: Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support). If you are lucky the phone is locked to the seller, so you can ask them to unlock it. If the seller is merely a middleman and the previous owner is not the seller it gets much more complicated. It's even possible that you bought a stolen phone, in which case you will never be able to use it and you should return it for a refund.

Without the correct password you are not going to be able to get into the drive. I recommend you try to remember the password or you will have to erase the drive in order to use it again.

If you have a rescue email address setup in your Apple ID profile, then you can reset the security questions. You would need to know those answers to get passed the screen to log in and verify.
