Can't get rid of ads by Browse to Save and I've disabled all plugins and add-ons

In Firefox, on my FaceBook page and yahoo mail, there are Browse to Save ads everywhere! They are driving me insane. I disabled all add-onos and plugins and the problem remains. I clicked on on the ad and went to browse to save's site where they say they tell you how to uninstall it, but there is no way to uninstall it because it doesn't show up in plugins or add-ons. Help!

'browse to save' goes by a few names apparently-
mine called itself Vaudix (uninstalled it and problem is gone)
other names include Yontoo apparently
hope that helps- my first and only ? post!

  • Can't get rid of ads popping up and open up every few minutes.

Every few minutes i get pop up ads and/or windows that open and play music or videos. I can't get rid of this and it's using all of my internet and slows it down a lot.

You should check with a mal- / adware scanner.<br>
There are several scanners for example Malwarebytes or CCleaner.<br>
I myself like and use Malwarebytes, see for info and free download https://www.malwarebytes.org/

  • Can't get rid of yandex as browser page

when I open a new tab I keep getting Yandex appearing as my browser page, I have gone into tools, option, advance, general, typed in Mozilla firefox, but it still keeps coming up and in Russian.
I managed to delete so far the tool bar which it was insisting I have, but cannot get rid of it as browser

I wonder whether you installed some kind of special edition of Firefox because normally you would see 9 thumbnails on the new tab page.
If this is your first day with Firefox, you could try completely uninstalling it (including removing your personal settings) and then reinstalling from the Mozilla site:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop
To manually change your new tab page, you can use Firefox's about:config preferences editor.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter the desired value:
    ''(i) Page thumbnails (default)''
    browser.newtab.url = about:newtab
    ''(ii) Blank tab''
    browser.newtab.url = about:blank
    ''(iii) Built-in Firefox home page''
    browser.newtab.url = about:home
    ''(iv) Any other page''
browser.newtab.url = full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?

  • Can't get rid of ads in Safari. Please advise something.

I have macbook late 2011 model and using Yosemite OS. I have installed 2 to 3 ad blocker extensions but still no matter what website i click or what page i click, it opens up new links and some of them says about virus and some don't. But the thing is its getting really hard to use this because of ads. Cant use or open any website without opening a ad, and then most of the time i have to quit safari in order to get rid of that ad.

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • Can't get rid of Ads in Safari or Chrome

I have a 13" late 2013 MacBook Pro with retina display and I let my brother use it to try and mod his GTA V so he downloaded a whole bunch of programs and files and didn't bother to look at the options so now I have a bunch of ads whenever I use Safari or Google Chrome and I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of them. For example when I went to type in my password to log into the apple communities, I was brought to another website. I deleted all the junk he downloaded and I've uninstalled Chrome multiple times. I am currently beta testing OS X Yosemite version 10.10. Any suggestions to remove the ads?

I called Apple and they found the solution. Open finder and in the top bar of the screen hit go. Go into the computer and click Macintosh HD and open the folder named Library. Find the folders LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons. Go into both folders and delete anything that may be suspicious. Mine was com.vsearch.www or something like that. Empty the trash bin and restart your computer. That should fix the problem.

  • Can't get rid of "my websearch" browser

Does anyone know how to get rid of the "my websearch" browser.  I went to "find any file" but it failed to remove the files it found.  When I opened up a "Finde" window, I couldn't find the files under Mac HD.  Alternately, if you can give me the names and addresses of the AH's who developed this thing I could take care of it that way..............

Never heard of that browser. Is it something that appears while you use Safari? There are custom toolbars that site can stick in Safari that are simpley not compatible. If it is Saari that's suffering this, repost in the Safari forums here:
    Safari
If this is something completely different not involving Safari, grab a screenshot (SHIFT + COMMAND +3) and post it, using the little camera icon in the edit window. Screenshots are save to your desktop, so there are easy to find and link to a post.
"Alternately, if you can give me the names and addresses of the AH's who developed this thing I could take care of it that way.............."
Yeah, Texas! A man takes care of himself! Unfortunately, the developer is likely some guy in Siberia named "Peggy."

Quick EDIT: I just Googled "mywebsearch removal mac" and there are a lot of hits. Apparently affected FireFox as well as Safari. There are numerous places showing removal instructions. Some of the links may tell us where Peggy lives!

  • How can I get rid of a redirect browser hacker in firefox?

This is a problem that is occuring on my MacBook Pro. When a google search is performed results appear as normal but when I click on a link it starts to load the page but then is interrupted and redirects to another completely different website which is completely unrelated to what I clicked on. They don't seem to be spam websites, just completely random. Sometimes it just redirects to askjeeves.com. Sometimes it doesn't redirect and I have normal use for a few minutes, then it redirects. The problem first started with a re-direction to a pretend PC virus scanner that mimicked the my computer folder on a PC and pretended to scan it for viruses and sell me some virus software. I ignored it as it was obviously a scam and blocked this website using a firefox add-on. This one no longer appears but I'm still getting redirected. I have thought of blocking information-seeker.com but figure this would just be treating the symptom and not the cause.
The only thing that is the same each time is that when it first begins the redirection, in the address bar a very long address with information-seeker.com appears for a split second before it loads the website it's sent me to this time.
I have tried the following so far
    1. I have run MacScan and found nothing
    2. I have checked the DNS information and no trojan is present
    3. I've been into about:config in firefox and there is nothing to do with information-seeker.com in there
    4. I've cleared all cookies and cache in firefox
Has anybody else come across this problem on a mac? I've found lots of websites with similar problems on PCs or problems where the search engine is hijacked but nothing with the information-seeker website. This is driving me up the wall and I'd be grateful for any help!

I have this problem also and I've tried all the same things you have. None work. Only thing that works is disabling Java in Firefox preferences, which is a pain in the ass because most websites don't work properly when Java is disabled.
I don't know how to delete Java plugins or delete Java altogether and re-install. Is this possible? or wise?

  • How can I get rid of "easy inline"-type hyperlinks even after having removed both easy-inline and yontoo?

    I'm using Firefox 18.0.
I searched the internet for a solution to my problem, and the closest result was Mozilla Support item titled "The latest update to Firefox (14.0.1) has added something called "easy inline" which is very, very annoying. Please, anyone, how do I TURN IT OFF???", from July 18, 2012.
I followed all recommendations but "random" phrases still become hyperlinks that display "balloon" ads on mouse-over. As for Yontoo, I do recall downloading some software over the summer that brought Yontoo along with it, but I've since uninstalled both. When I came across the support article, above, I followed the link to uninstall Yantoo, and performed it again.
Currently, neither "Yontoo", nor "Easy inline" appear as Firefox extensions or add-ons, and there are no folders or files by (or containing) those names anywhere on my hard drive.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what this could still be, and how to get it turned off, once and for all?
    Thank You

  • Does anyone else have two Apple IDs? I can't get rid of one of them. It's associated with my iCloud account and I can't fix it. The password doesn't work.

So, apparently I have two Apple IDs associated with my iPhone. One is an old aol address that got hacked and was shut down. Even aol doesn't recognize the email address anymore, and the password doesn't work. It's associated with my iCloud account, so now I can't access that account. My other Apple ID is with everything associated with my iPhone and everything works just fine. But now I can't get to my iCloud stuff. Has this ever happened to anyone else. The guy at the Apple store says he's never heard of it.

Does the alert refer to "Local Items?"

  • Somehow, I have about 20 "no sender" emails that I can't get rid of.  These are also dated 12/ 12/69.  (all dated 69 but not the same day)

Can anyone explain these "no sender" emails?

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'

  • How can I get rid of the annoying prompt to save a password that comes up every time I log in somewhere?

Every time I log into anything, I get a prompt in a box in the upper portion of the screen asking if I'd like to remember the password. I don't want any passwords remembered. How can I prevent the "Save password" prompt from popping up?

As of the current version, I don't believe there is a way to tell the App Store app to ignore updates. You can send Apple feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/, but in short there is nothing you can do. As long as you don't try to update the app (either pressing the update button or update all), the app should continue to work fine with your data remaining intact. It has been a while since I've tried to update an app that isn't supported (last time was under iOS 3 or 4), so I can't comment about what would happen if you did try to update it. (My best guess is it will display an alert saying it is not compatible, and leave the previous version there, but not take away the 'update' in the APp Store app updates page).

  • How can I get rid of 'Ask' in the list of search engines, which always comes back (and at the top of the list) even though I check the 'Remove' box in 'Manage Search Engines'?

I don't think I can add anything relevant to the question

You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar and do a search for <i>ask.com</i> via the Filter at the top of that page.<br />
You can reset all <i>ask.com</i> related prefs via the right-click context menu to their default values.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
