Can't import photos into light room

Have Lr5 won't let me import my raw photos in Lr5. Tried from HD, Flash Drive and from ex hd..

get the photos off of the card and reformat the card using the camera format command
Can you import the photos from disk once you have moved them from the camera to the disk? If not try opening one preview and saving as to create a new file and import that

If you are using a standalone version of Lightroom, you may have updated with the CC-licensed update. That will not work. If this is your situation then it will be necessary for you to uninstall Lightroom and then install an update from a different website. Assuming that you are using Lightroom 5, this is where you need to download from:
    Product updates
After you make the change you will be able to continue from where you left off. The switchover does not affect your images or your catalog.

  • I can not import photos into lightroom 4.4  Had no problem before this time.

I can not import photos into lightroom 4.4  Had no problem before this time.  I have camera raw7.4 and use a NikonD7100.  I have a Mac using 10.6.8.  I can see the images and selected for import in Lightroom, but after I check "import" I get a message that Lightroom could not read the files.  This happens with both raw and jpeg files.  Thanks for a repl

thanks for the reply. would you please tell me how to check for the folder to have write permission.  I have done the same settings as before but this time does not transfer.  It says can not read files with a code "298".  I can see the thumbnails on the screen prior to trying to import the photos, also can see them with the card in the camera and using the view mode.  I have up to date camera raw 7.4 for my Nikon D7100 and the settings allow for 7.1 and above

  • Can't import photos into iPhoto

I have a Sony DSC W5 digital camera. For five years I have been able to import photos from the Sony camera into iPhoto. In the last two days I can no longer import photos into iPhoto. I get an "unrecognizable file" prompt. I can drag the photo files onto the Finder and view them there. The photo on the Finder has a .jpg suffix just as all the other photos in iPhoto. Anybody got an idea on how to solve this problem? Thank you.

  • Can't Import Photos into iPhoto08

Recently updated my computer to 10.5.
The last two times that I have tried to import photos onto my computer I get a message asking me to keep or delete the originals and am presented with a list of what didn't make their way onto my computer. The box says
The following files could not be imported(they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data).
    Incredibly frustrating. Any thoughts?

This problem has been discussed thoroughly in several other threads. Do a search and you'll find them. I don't believe there has been any universal fix for it. Some have used Image Capture to upload to the desktop first and then into iPhoto.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can't import photos into Aperture

Prior to upgrading I was using Aperture 2, I exported each project individually into folders - I decided to keep my photo organized by folders (and referenced) rather than in the Aperture library.
    I upgraded to Aperture 3.0.1.
I can't import anything - either individually or by folder. Individually, I select import then navigate to the folder I'd like to import but I can't see any images in it, Aperture says 'loading assets' (I've left it there for hours). If I choose to import by folder, I can navigate to the folder, I see the image files but they are greyed out. I can click on import, but nothing happens.
If I navigate to the folder in Finder, drag and drop it onto Projects in Aperture I see the green plus sign. I let go and nothing happens. Images are both RAW and JPEG.

  • Can't import photos into new LR5 installation, no import option, just error message saying "an error occurred while attempting to change modules"

This is a new MacBook with a new CC LR5 installation. There is however no menu choice allowing me to import photos. Np right or left panels at all. When the program opens I get an error message saying there was an error changing modules.

I Nearly bought from Amazon too but I found a thread from Adobe stating that the only recognized outlet for lightoom is themselves and other outlets serial numbers will not be guaranteed.
THat at was sufficient for me to buy direct from Adobe, hope you get it sorted.

  • Can't import photos into iPhoto-- it sees them but won't import

I've been using iPhoto with my Mac Mini for almost a year now without a single issue (that's the main reason I bought a mac). I believe I have iPhoto 08 (I bought the computer 1 year ago). I have a newer Canon point-and-shoot that I've been using. About 1 month ago I did a software update to iPhoto, so it's pretty much up to date.
Everything has been fine for almost a year, then all the sudden, iPhoto hangs when I try to import my latest batch of photos. It will pull them into the import preview window (I can see all of them), but when I try to "Import All" it just hangs. I have to turn off the camera just to get the program to unfreeze (after patiently waiting a few minutes). For some odd reason, just 1 of the 70 photos makes it in (there are a few videos, but they won't import either).
    Here's the error message:
    Unreadable Files: 69
The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data).
    MVI_2498.AVI
    IMG_2501.JPG

    IMG_2602.JPG
    MVI_2603.AVI
    MVI_2604.AVI
    MVI_2610.AVI
Any ideas? I'm desperate because there's some wonderful picks of our kids on there that I don't want to lose.
    Thanks a bunch

It’s part of the basic install of OS X. So unless you deleted it then it’s there in your apps folder. If you have deleted it, it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. You will be able to extract the installation package using Pacifist.
Alternatively, if you’re using almost any camera +apart from a Canon+ then the camera card is visible on the desktop and you can drag the movie to the desktop using the Finder and import from there.
No matter what camera you use, if you pop the card from it into a USB Card Reader then it will be accessible via the Finder. Card Readers are inexpensive and all round a better idea.
    Why use a Card Reader?
Because it’s safer: Less risk of your images being lost if your camera shuts down during transfer.
Because it saves the battery on your camera
Because it saves wear and tear on your camera ports
    Because it’s almost always faster.

  • Can't import photos into word or anything after update

the iphoto library button is faded so can't select it. iphoto library copy is available but doesn't have the pics I want. Is there another path?

Can't you just drag a photo from the thumbnail view in iPhoto into the open Word document window? That's how I do it. Then double click on the photo in Word and resize to what size you need.

  • How can I import photos into a specific album?

Wow, I have been using Applescript for 15 years but I can't get this to work. I just want to make a script that brings a JPG image into iPhoto '09 into a specific album, but it seems set against letting me, and I can't find specific examples of what I'm trying to do so far.
    tell application "iPhoto"
    new album name "hello"
add "Mac HD:Users:pp:mypic.jpg" to album "hello"
    end tell
This doesn't give an error and it makes the album, but nothing else. Nothing is imported into iPhoto.
Eventually I want to add a title and keyword data to that picture also using Applescript (hopefully not UI scripting), but since I can't get the barest basics of importing to work properly, I thought I'd see if anyone here could help.

    Peter
I’ve never seens an AS that can do this. Hazel can and it might be worth examining it to see what you can learn.
Automator can do this too, but there’s no way in that to add keywords or titles in that - though it is possible with Aperture and Automator.
Given that we can go months on here without mention of AppleScript I wouldn’t be surprised if you get a better response on the AppleScript forum.

  • Suddenly I can't import photos into Lightroom 5.

The source directory displays correctly but the photos in that directory are not displayed. I've tried with both my card reader and hard drive with the same result.

Here is another clue I hadn't noticed - When trying to import with the directory on the source disk highlighted, all the sub-directories are greyed out. This doesn't change when I check include sub-folders.

  • How can I import photos into my iMovie?

I do not get the option to add photos to my projects. I have created movies and trailers. The option to add photos is missing from my iPad 3 and my iPhone 4s. I have removed and reinstalled the app several times to no avail. I don't even have the icon for photos.
    Help!
    Thanks in advance.

SO when you go to the photos tab do you not see any photos?
Or can you not find the photos tab?
TRailers cannot have photos added BTW

  • Trouble importing photos into Lightroom 3

I was no longer able to  import photos into Light room 3 so I removed everything to "My Pictures" to a folder named Light room Photos and uninstalled and reinstalled Light room, but when I try to import my photos back into Light room from that folder it "no photos found" which was why I tried this to begin with as whenever I tried to import from a memory card it came up with "no photos found.  Any ideas?@

I'm having the same problem as you.
Lightroom 5.2 has been running for a year and now it's just stops importing from my CF cards.
Is that the same problem, or a different problem?
    What is the error message?
I've got Permissions set to allow me to do anything so, that ain't the issue either.
This is often the first response and when we insist that we see screen captures of the Import dialog box and the permissions on the folder specified under "Destination", it turns out the permissions are not set properly.
So, we need to see screen captures of both your Import dialog box and the permissions on that exact folder specified under Destination

  • How can I import photos inro Organiser in the same order as they are in my files?

How can I import photos into Organiser in the same order as they are in my files?

You can do a change to your files you want to import so they are in order that your version of PSE uses.
One of the benefits of PSE is that you are no longer limited to specific order or locations of pictures. If you want a spefic order for display purposes create an album and your order will be maintained in the album. Other than that I keep my display on Newest first(I have PSE 11) and rarely change it.

  • Import photos into Organizer Photoshop 7

How can I import photos into Organizer from a Desktop folder in the same order that I have arranged and numbered them?

I can confirm that Barb's method also works in PSE 7.
Are you on Vista or XP?
Can you give an example of two files that are in the desired order on Windows Explorer but a different order in PSE?
Most likely, youre encountering a feature of Vista Windows Explorer. PSE sorts filenames in Folder Location view by the customary dictionary (lexicographic) order used by most applications. For example, the file p15.jpg will come before p2.jpg, because 1 comes before 2 in the dictionary. But Windows Explorer sorts p15.jpg
after ps2.jpg, because it uses a different rule for sorting filenames if filenames end in numbers, then it sorts files that all have the same leading prefix by the numeric value of that number, not by dictionary order.
If this is indeed your issue, there are several alternate approaches:
    - Rename the files in Windows Explorer to have names of the form p002.jpg and p015.jpg (that is, the same number of trailing digits).
    - Use PSE albums rather than Windows Explorer to create ordered collections of photos. Its very easy to rearrange the order of photos in albums, much easier than renaming in Windows Explorer. In general, if you want to use the PSE Organizer, then things will go easiest if you do all your file management within PSE and not try to use Windows Explorer.
    - If you want your photos in order of date taken, use the PSEs Display > Thumbnail View to show them in date order. (Folder Location view shows in filename order, and albums show in the order you set.) Use Edit > Adjust Date And Time to change the date taken of any photos as necessary.
