Can't import songs into library due to a 2nd library that I didn't create

I think someone may have created their own folder on my iPod nano and then returned it to the store (even though I purchaed it new). Anytime I try to download music it goes to this other folder which I can't access because it is password protected. My folder is visible but there is no way to redirect the downloads.
Any help on how to remove the existing folder would be greatly appreciated

Anytime I try to download music
From where to where?
it goes to this other folder
WHere do yuo see this folder?
In iTunes?
On the iPod thru iTunes?
On your computer?
it goes to this other folder which I can't access because it is password protected.
Where does it ask you for a password?
In Windows?
My folder is visible but there is no way to redirect the downloads.
Where is it visible?

  • Can't import songs into itunes library...

For some reason it isn't working. I took a couple of songs off my ipod via ephpod and i tried opening them using the import function in itunes. I open it, but the songs aren't added into the library at all. Maybe it might be the file format? Anyone have anyway to convert the songs into the accepted format?

    Yep,
I have been having the exact same problem now for over a year. First, it was like six hundred songs--wouldnt play on my ipod and then wouldnt add into my itunes library. It happened to correspond with an update of itunes and the ipod firmware. It has only gotten worse and now I am in fear of updating anything further. I have been looking for answers to this problem for a long time, if you happen to get an answer that works would you let me know about it too?
    Thanks!

  • A password protected library that I didn't create appears in my index

I noticed that a "phantom" library appeared in my iTunes index. It is called "stlarson's music" and I cannot delete it or get rid of it in any way I know. If I try to open it or delete it I am being prompted to enter a password. I don't know how it got downloaded on my computer and I don't know how to get rid of it and it scares me a little. I am 100% sure nobody else was using my computer. Any clues? Thanks.

...and I presume it has a blue icon, right?
That's a library on someone else's computer that is visible on your network. If you're in a school dorm or business environment that can be quite understandable. If you're on a home network, especially one with wirless support, then it's probably a neighbor.
You can tell your iTunes to stop looking for libraries on on other computers by turning off "Look for Shared Music" in iTunes Preferences -> Sharing tab. You may want to turn off "Share my Music" so they cannot see yours either.
More importantly, there's no real risk in seeing someone else's library or their ability to see yours. Even if it is not password protected, iTunes can only play songs from those blue librarys. You cannot download those songs and they cannot download yours.

  • Can't import songs into itunes playlist folders from itunes music folder

Ive got to be an idiot. ive had my ipod for years and ive yet to figure this out:
how do i put music into my playlist folders? The only playlists ive been able to successfully create and use are the ones ON my ipod. but that requires me to plug in my ipod every time i want to hear music at home.
I've created the playlist folders. They are blue folders, found under the playlists tab on itunes. I select music from the music sections, and drag to the folder, but all i ever get is the Circle and line "No" symbol, i never get a plus sign. Ive ever tried popping the playlist folder into a new window and dragging from one window to the other, and its doesn't work. its there some ridiculous safety feature of iTunes that i need to turn off to make playlists or? I can't imagine that something would be this confusing, but i just don't get it.

    Welcome to AD!
Sounds like you are trying to drag single music files into a playlist folder.
You can only drag a pre-existing playlist into a playlist folder.

  • I can't upload images into CS6 due to a plugin error that hasn't occurred before.

I've even tried opening my previous images I've used in works before in CS6 and they are all greyed out as well. I really need some help, any is appreciated. Thanks.

You can't open the image file in InDesign.
Go to File-->Place and place the image file in InDesign

  • Importing Songs Into Your iTunes Library

Does importing songs into your iTunes Library (from either CDs or via iTunes Store download) slow down your computer? If one has thousands of songs in his/her library, does the overall speed of the computer slow down, including when running applications?

My library is fairly large, although not as large as others have claimed, but my 10,000+ tracks have not made any sort of noticeable slowdown on my computer that I can detect.
I think where you get a lot of slow downs with large library is if you have a large number of Smart Playlists with live updating so that when you play stuff or change ratings or whatever in your library, the computer has to do a lot of rule comparisons for several SPLs against a large number of tracks, so you can get slow downs between songs or when you change stuff.
But if you don't get overly carried away with the SPLs, you should be fine.

  • With using any version of iTunes, whenever I import songs into my library using the "add to library" function, iTunes adds those songs in songs' alphabetical order. This is pretty annoying since it does not preserve the logical track number or album.

With using any version of iTunes, whenever I import songs into my library using the "add to library" function, iTunes adds those songs in songs' alphabetical order. This is pretty annoying since it does not preserve the logical track number or even the album sort order (for example when adding 2 albums stored in a unique folder). Anyone has any ideas ? Been stumped for a while....!!!

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

  • Audio CD burning error- I opted for importing songs into iTunes as MP3

    Hi,
Before I started importing songs into iTunes, I chose int eh iTunes preferences to import all songs as MP3, as I wanted the option of being able to burn CDs to play on my car MP3 player.
When I tried to burn a CD, I got an error message that these songs could not be burnt onto the CD. This had the option where I could see all the errors and the list was of all the songs that I was trying to burn.
BTW, I created a new playlist, dragged the required songs to this playlist from the library and pressed the burn disc option.
What am I doing wrong? Could it be that the drive is faulty?

First of all, how long is the total time of all songs? If it is more than 80 minutes, you can't record to the CD as an audio CD. If that is the case, and you say you have an MP3 cd player in your car... you might want to try burning to the disc as an MP3 CD. Go to iTunes preferences, then click "Advanced," then "Burning" and you'll see an option for "MP3 CD." Click that, and then when you burn the disc, you can put as many songs as will fit onto the disc.
Also, rewritable CDs aren't any better... as a matter of fact, a lot of audio CD players can't read them. A regular CD-R should be fine, even one rated at 40x speed.

  • How can I import songs which are filed basis one album/compilation as one folder?

How can I import songs which are filed basis one album/compilation as one folder?
i can drag and drop one folder which is a proper album into itunes under playlist. if i drag and drop two proper albums into itunes it is also ok but if itunes does not know my own compliations and i drag and rop my 3000 folders in one shot into itunes i get only one playlist containing all songs.
pleased to hear if anybody know how i can avoid to do 3000 times drag and drop a folder into itunes.
    rgds, alexander

Before you begin the import, edit the properties of the tracks to set the Album Artist to Various Artists and Part of a Compilation to Yes.
For more info. see Grouping tracks into albums.

  • How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

So what exactly did you copy over? If it's a 12 gig iPhoto Library then it sounds like the files are there. Perhaps the copy went wrong along the way.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Possibly. Media Go supports a variety of music formats, some of which can be imported in to iTunes and then synced on to an iPhone, however some of its formats cannot be imported in to iTunes.
See http://mediago.sony.com/enu/supported-file-formats/ for a list of formats supported by Media Go. iTunes for Windows supports MP3, AAC, WAV, and can import and convert WMA files as well. However iTunes does not support ATRAC, or FLAC.
Furthermore, if some of your music has been bought from an Internet music store it might be procted by DRM. If so it cannot be imported in to iTunes.
To do the importing you would either drag the music files in to iTunes, or tell iTunes to open them. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1347

  • Can't import songs using home sharing

Just bought a new macbook pro laptop, and I can't import my music library from my iMac using home sharing.
The library shows up as shared, but I can't drag any music into the library on my laptop.
Help would be greatly appreciated because I'm extremely frustrated.

I am curious as well. I also just bought a MacBook Air to use in addition to my iMac. I just made some purchases on iTunes and homesharing only allows you to stream, not physically sync the media back and forth, which is what I want.
This is going to be really annoying..

  • Splitting an imported song into instument tracks.

Hello, I am a newbie to garage band and have a simple question, although the answer is probably not as simple...
I want to import my songs onto garage band, locate only the bass guitar instrument, and slow it down so I can learn to play my favorite songs on my bass!
I just learned how to slow the tempo down on an imported song, but I do not know if there is a way to seperate an imported song into its component instruments.
All help is appreciated thank you!

You can try using some of GB's EQing, etc. to reduce the other instruments somewhat or bring up the bass, but, as HT said, you can not separate what's already mixed.

  • Can I import songs downloaded from Wallmart & other sites?

I have music I downloaded from Wallmart & other sites. Can these be imported into iTunes & then in the iPod?
    Thanks you,
    Howieb

You can't import songs downloaded from Walmart music service. They are copy protected (DRM) wma files and both itunes and the ipod do not support that. You would need to burn those songs to a music CD and then reimport the CD via itunes or another ripper encoder.
There is no direct way of doing that as far as I know.
