Can't install Exchange Gateway

I'm trying to install the Exchange gateway on an Echange 2003 system. Have installed C1 with snapins and created a secondary GW domain for the gateway on the Exchange server. The secondary domain starts up OK.
However, when I try and install the gateway on the Exchange server, it fails wi the error 'Unable to get Exchange Server Sites for the server servername and the organization orgname'. If I OK that message, it takes me to the dialog to select the server site, etc, but there is nothing to select, so I have to cancel out of the install.
Any ideas?
Rob.

The best approch at installing this gateway is to follow the TID on how to install it.
How to Install the GroupWise Gateway for Microsoft Exchange
TID #7001367
Environment
Novell GroupWise Gateway - 7.x Gateway for MS Exchange
Novell GroupWise 7
Situation
GroupWise Gateway for Microsoft Exchange Install fails to result in working Gateway
GroupWise Gateway for Microsoft Exchange Service will not start
ERROR: "1503: The Service did not respond or the start or control request in a timely fashion."
ERROR: "ERROR (E01) 010012: Unable to get configuration information from the MAPI Session"
ERROR: "ERROR (E01) 010012 MAPI code: 11D"
ERROR: "ERROR (E01) 0323004 - Unable to bind to the Gateway Object"
Resolution
This document is designed to aid in a successful install of the GroupWise Gateway for Microsoft Exchange in regards to "How to Set Rights for Windows users to install and run the Gateway."
The install and configure documentation should be followed in addition to this TID. GroupWise GateWay Documentation Novell Doc: GroupWise Migration Utilities - Table of Contents
The document does not include installation of the Free busy search components. At the time of writting the GroupWise Gateway for Microsoft Exchange is not intended to be used with Exchange 2007. Installing the Gateway on a Exchange 2003 server in an Exchange 2007 environment appears to be a valid work-around for using the gateway in an Exchange 2007 environment.
Install the latest version of the Gateway software. The latest version can be obtained by calling support. The files can be obtained by opening a service request with support. If no additional support is required the service request may be closed at no additional charge.
Assumptions about the server where the Gateway will be installed:
Novell Client is installed
Authenticated to Edirectory as Admin
ConsoleOne is installed
Active directory Users and Computers in installed
Exchange system manager is installed
AdsiEdit is installed (possibly not needed)
The install / running of the GroupWise gateway for Microsoft Exchange has been complicated and usually requires additional attention to rights as a result of change made in Exchange
More information about this change can be noted at “Send As” permission behavior change in Exchange 2003 “Send As” permission behavior change in Exchange 2003.
Preliminary Step to take to insure success before installing the Gateway:
Check for the existance of Gwise address space on current policy and remove. Find Policy in Exchange system manager | go to properties | remove any old Gwise address space and apply the policy to remove address space from invidual users. Check individual users that the Gwise address space was remove.
Find and remove all Gwproxy.dll on all Exchange servers. Delete gwproxy.dll from Program Files\Exchsrvr\address\gwise\i386 directory on ALL Exchange servers. If the file will not delete you may have to stop Exchange services.
Enable the hidden security tab at the top of the Exchange Org to assist in checking for proper rights needed to run the gateway. The following document will assist in enabling the security tab: XADM: Security Tab Not Available on All Objects in System Manager
Create a user to run the Gateway service and remove his membership to groups not needed. IE: remove membership to "users group" as well as any other groups that are not needed. To remove and add membership to a user go to Active directory Users and Computers | properties of the user | membership tab.
Add group membership for user used to install the gateway as well as the user used to run the gateway rights to the following groups: Domain admins, Schema admins, Enterprise admins, Exchange Domain Servers
Use the hidden security tab to verify that the Installer user and the Service Runner user do not have deny rights set to the "send as" and "receive as" attributes. Go to Exchange system manager at the top of the Org | right click and see the new security tab we enabled in Step 3. Check each group the installer and runner are a members of and remove deny attributes from the "send as and receive as" check boxes. If the groups are not visible in the Top portion of the properties page use the ADD button to add the group | highlight the user and check the "send as" and "receive as" rights.
Follow the Install and configure documentation for the GateWay Novell Doc: GroupWise Migration Utilities - Table of Contents
Run the Install for the Gateway.
If the gateway fails to start it is usually an issue with "send as" and "receive as" set to deny. Use ADSIedit.mcs to find a possible deny that is not visible in Step 6. To launch ADSIedit go to Start | run | type ADSIeit.msc (If needed you can install ADSEedit using the following URL suggestions Adsiedit Overview: Active Directory )
NOTE: Use ADSIedit carefully. The goal is to check and set a deny / allow right for the above groups and users. Contact Microsoft support for information regarding the use of this tool.
Using ADSIedit to find Denys to the Mail Store that are not allowing the user to run the gateway:
Set all "Send as and Receive as" rights for the above users and groups to allow. There cannot be any deny on the "Send as and Receive as" for the above groups or users. Not even if the deny is inherited (greyed out.)
Go into ADSIedit by going to Start | run | type ADSIeit.msc
Expand the Configuration Container
Drill down to Configuration/Services/Microsoft Exchange/First Organization/Administrative Groups/First Administrative Group/Servers/Exchange/information Store/First Storage Group/ and not the mail store.
Right click the mail store object in the right hand window of Adsiedit and go to security tab.
Check "Send as and Receive as" and change any Deny to an allow right for the above users and groups.
A Grey check mark set to Deny indicates the right is inherited from above the current container.
Walk up the Tree of containers checking at each section to insure the "Send as and Recieve as" is set to allow for the users and groups noted above.
NOTE: The most common hidden deny that needs to be removed is found for the Exchange Domains Servers Group and at the Servers Container.
Once all Denys for "Send As and Receive As" have been removed allow some time for replication. Server Restart have also shown to be helpful when rights are set correctly but service still behaves as if it is lacking the "Send As and Receive As" allow rights.
Additional Information
What we need to know:
The Gateway needs to login to the Exchange mail store on the local Exchange Server and create a mailbox for the user that is specified to run this gateway. This users rights to the mail store are needed or the gateway will fail to run.
Additional Trouble shooting aids:
Check the Windows Event logs for error when starting the gateway
Set the Gateway in Consoleone to log at verbose logging level
Try starting the gateway as an application during trouble shooting process as it may allow errors to be see that are not logged. To Start the Gateway as an application when installed as a service Go to / GroupWise domain directory / wpgate/ Exchange / Exegate.exe right click and select open to launch.

  • Can't install Exchange 2013 after previous uninstall (insufficient user privileges with the same user)

I have installed Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012, which ist a member of a Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain. All prerequisites and AD modifications were successfully  completed and I could install Exchange 2013. Unfortunately I made a mistake with
the target directory and had to uninstal Exchange 2013. If I start the Setup again, it fails in prerequisite check - the current user should not be a member of Enterprise and Schema admin Group, but it's the same user, which comleted the previous Installation
of Exchange 2013! Do you have any idea how to solve this Problem - I'm running out of ideas.

Inhave tried to run setup /PrepareSchema again and get the following error in exchange setup log:
[03.07.2014 19:25:53.0305] [0] Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory: Couldn't find the Enterprise Organization container.

After removing all Exchange Parts by ADUC (advanced View) and ADSI Edit (Services) I'm able to install Exchnge 2013 again - the uninstall procedure seems not to work in a clean manner.

  • Can't install Exchange - says it's installed but it doesn't show up!

Any help would be appreciated! I am trying to load a paid program, but I cannot use Exchange because it's not installed, but when I try to install it, I get a message stating it's already installed!
I want to use it for Flash CS3 running Mac Leopard.
    Any suggestions?

To make a ringtone you need your <30 second clip in AAC (.m4a) format on your computer, you then change the extension to .m4r and drop the resulting file into the Automatically add to iTunes folder for it to get added to iTunes as a Tone. Sync your tones to the device and then you can select them using Settings > Sounds.

  • Can't install exchange OWA certificate?

I have a 3GS on 3.1 and have tried to email myself our OWA certificate to my gmail account. When I try to open the attachment I get a message that says "Invalid Profile Profile format not recognized" If I go to the Gmail site and view it that way Safari tries to open it a new window and I get a similar message. I see lots of people have easily got the cert installed on the phone without problem and haven't really found anyone that can't even get the attachment to open. Much appreciated in advance.
    Message was edited by: klutch14u

How are you exporting the certificate? Also, you should be sending yourself (exporting) the root certificate that signed your OWA cert, not the server cert itself - unless this server is also the cert-issuing server.
The easiest way I have found to do it is to open OWA in IE. Click on the lock to view certificate. Click on certification path, double click on the top level certificate (it should not be Verisign, Thawte, or any other already installed CA), View certificate, details, copy to file. Follow the wizard to create the export. I believe the DER binary works fine.
Let us know how you make out.

  • Installing Exchange without using email feature

my company email hosted by google and I already have lync server 2013, but i lose some lync features due to exchange missing.
can i install exchange internally to support lync server (contacts, tasks, calendar)
without configuring email service and because its internally does it causes any issue for lync external users to prepare meetings or tasks

    Hi Msallal,
You should publish Exchange services on Internet, Lync needs to connect to EWS for some features.
The feature depending on EWS are:
    Unified Contact Store
    High-Resolution Photos
    Meeting tab
    Contact Information
    Presence based on Calendar Information
    Conversation History
    Missed Conversations
    Missed Calls
    Voice Mail Playback

    Hi   Midoooz
    Thank you for your question.
Do you install the Exchange Server on the DC?
From you posted error, I think you can try to make your exchange server in maintenance mode, then you can try install exchange CU6.
You can refer to the following link:
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2713696
    Note:
Stop Maintenance Mode on the computer that is running Exchange Server after the Exchange Server 2013 CU6 upgrade is completed.
If there are any questions, please let me know.

  • Can we install more than one gateway service on the Gateway-pc?

    Hellos.
There are several versions (instances?!) of IDM running happily on our IDMserver e.g. 7.1.04, 8.1.0.12, 8.1.1.0
What I would like to do is to arrange 3 gateway services one for each IDM version and each version of the gateway bound to a different port.
When I try to install the second "service" it bombed out with...
    C:\idmgateway71>gateway.exe -i -p 9271
    02/08/2011 15.01.09.402000 [1676] (../../../../src/wps/agent/logging/WSTrace.cpp
,150): trace active, level: 4, file: c:\idm\GWtrace.txt, maxSize: 99999 KB
    02/08/2011 15.01.09.402000 [1676] (../../../../src/wps/agent/logging/WSTrace.cpp
    ,108): In WSTrace::init()
    02/08/2011 15.01.09.402000 [1676] (../../../../src/wps/agent/logging/WSTrace.cpp
,109): Gateway version: 'Sun Java System Identity Manager 7.1'
    02/08/2011 15.01.09.402000 [1676] (../../../../src/wps/agent/logging/WSTrace.cpp
,110): OS version: 'Windows Server 2003 Family Service Pack 2 (Build 3790)'
Usage: gateway -in -r -s -k -tn -d -pn -fname -ln -mn -v
-i: Install this program as an NT service, with specified startup
-r: Remove this program from the Service Manager
    -s: Start the service
    -k: Kill the service
-t: Set startup for an existing service
-d: Debug; run as a regular application
    -p: Specify a TCP/IP port number (9278 default)
-f: Specify the path to the trace file
-l: Specify the level of tracing (0 default - no information)
-m: Specify the max trace file size in kilobytes
    -v: Display the version
    ^C
    C:\idmgateway71>
    C:\idmgateway71>
    What gives?!

    I see the methodology...
I can indeed bind several gateways to different ports.
    BUT.
I will need as many encryption keys as I have gateway daemons and It seems this Gateway was designed as a single shot.
I get errors like: Cannot find encryption key from Registry: using default.. and when I try testing the connection I get bad userid/password.
Thanks for the help I can continue digging at this..

  • Can RD for Administration be used to install RD Gateway?

    Hello,
Have a Server 2008 R2 virtual machine running in a web hosting environment. The company has enabled Remote Desktop Administration and we have been using RD Connection to access the virtual server without any problem. However, due to firewall considerations
we would like to use RD Gateway with port 443 instead of the standard RD port 3389.
Perhaps this may be obvious, but if on a RD admin connection, is it possible to successfully install RD Gateway? For example, when you hit "Install" for the Gateway, will it automatically drop the existing RD admin connection?
The main concern right now is the we don't end up somehow locking ourselves out of RD altogether if the Gateway has install or config problems. Any insights are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Robert,
Thanks for the reply. Went ahead with the install accepting the defaults. Got the following result:
    "Installation succeeded with errors.
    Remote Desktop Services
Error: The Internet Information Services (IIS) settings that are required for RD Gateway to function correctly could not be configured. To resolve this issue, open Remote Desktop Gateway Manager. When you open Remote Desktop Gateway Manager, it
verifies whether the IIS settings are correctly configured, and if the settings are not correctly configured, it configures the settings automatically.
The following role services were installed:
       Remote Desktop Gateway"
Opened RD Gateway Manager, but didn't see any servers. Tried to manually connect but received:
"Unable to read RD Gateway Server Settings"
Not sure what to do next. Perhaps, this type of configuration with a pre-existing install of IIS is not supported.

  • Install Exchange 2010 Sp3 on Windows 2012 R2

    Dear All,
From Microsoft Exchange support matrix, I can tell that Exchange 2010 Sp3 is not listed on supported page. However when I run the setup, the prerequisite setup check, dose not list any warnings or issues with the setup, all check are green. Is it possible
that the support OS matrix has not been updated? Is Exchange 2010 Sp3 supported on Windows 2012 R2?

The prerequisite check is checking that the required Windows components are installed.  Exchange 2010 is still not supported on Windows Server 2012 R2.

  • Installing Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2

Now that SP1 has been released, it is supported to run Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2

    - Install Exchange 2013 (without SP1) on Windows Server 2012 R2
    - Install SP1 on top of Exchange 2013
If this is not supported, can someone tell me when the Exchange 2013 with integrated SP1 (slipstreamed) download will be released?
