Can't install Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver on Yoga 2 11

The Lenovo driver list for the Yoga 2 11 includes Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) Driver for 64-bit Windows. However, attempting to install this results in the message, "No Appropriate Driver to be Installed". Likewise, attempting to install the Rapid Storage Technology driver from Intel's site results in the error, "The platform is not supported."
Windows Device Manager shows WDC WD5000M22K-24Z1LT0-SSHD-16GB for the disk drive name, so it appears that the drive should support the RAID configuration for SSD caching. This is consistent with the specs for the laptop.
Is it normal for the drivers to not install? It seems odd, given the placement on Lenovo's driver list. I'd like to set the Acceleration Mode to Maximized as described in Intel's User Guide.

I’m really sorry to hear that you had trouble installing Intel Rapid Storage AHCI driver in your Lenovo Thinkpad T430s.
I would suggest you to try uninstalling the driver and run the Intel Driver update utility which will auto-detect the missing drivers and will install the latest version for you.

U510 won't boot after installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology

I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 on my U510 after some virus/malware destroyed the boot record. After doing so I attempt to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology and after rebooting Windows launches its repair functionality. It runs for several minutes and is unable to repair and I can't get to the OS. Any ideas? I've subsequently re-installed Windows 7 and have not attempted another install of that software. Isn't this software necessary to take advantage of the SSD and swapping between the HDD and SDD? Thanks in advance!

IRST only manages storage. You will need the software mentioned in that thread in post 2, but just check since that thread is for U530.

Y410p Cannot install Intel Rapid Start Technology

Hi Guys, I have a Y410p and I have replaced the HDD with a SSD on windows 8. Before changed to SSD, i did not try to install the intel rapid start and thus I never know if it could work before. I re-install Windows 8 on the SSD and also installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. When I install the Intel Rapid Start, I got this error: "this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software" I have checked the BIOS, I cannot see any relevant settings and I just make sure AHCI enabled. I have done the parition (on the GPT) using the set ID = D3BFE2DE-3DAF-11DF-BA40-E3A556D89593 I have followed this guide (UEFI)http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/rapid_start_technology_user_guide_for_uefi1.pdf Is it Y410P cannot have the Intel Rapid Start installed because of the chipset or the BIOS? Never found a way to fix it. Me and my friends are pretty proficient with computers too. Just been shutting down my computer every time I'm done using it. Lenovo said we can send it to them and they'll take a look or replace under warranty

Error in Intel Rapid Storage Technology "Reset to normal"

Hi,
My Notebook is HP Envy 17 3D
OS: Windows 7 Home 64 bit
When I start the pc I got an error in my hard disk raid system. but when i choose continue, then i can access my windows do any thing but I have to open the Intel Rapid Storage Technology and I see an alert on my hard disk and then I have to click on 'Reset to normal"
I am facing slowness in my pc.

The ExpressCache software on the SSD is designed to improve overall system performance and greatly speed up Windows PC startup, application launches and data access. Further information regarding ExpressCache can be at this knowledgebase article. For this software to work, you do no need the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver installed. When running the command eccmd.exe -info I assume you are finding this software is running as per normal, and you are not recieving any error messages, such as ERROR** ECCmd Request device is not available. However, if you do encounter this software not working as per normal there are some instructions here to uninstall and reinstall this software. I hope this helps.

Lenovo G500 - Intel Rapid Storage Technology" SATA disk on Controller 0, Port Unknown detected"

Hi Folks,
I have a lenovo G500 laptop which i had purchased during thanksgiving vaction in 2013. The machine was working fine till June 2014 when I stated getting Blue Screen of death with error messages "irql_not_less_or_equal" The OS was windows 8.1. This created lot of problem while booting , the machine would not boot at all.
Along with this message I started getting this message "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" SATA disk on Controller 0, Port Unknown detected". This message was coming very often.
I along with Lenovo support did all the things possible, like factory reset etc. Finally the machine was sent out to depot for repair in July 2014. They replaced the hard drive and sent the machine back.
I got the machine back on 22nd July and since last week ,ie, 14th July I have started to get the issues again. My IE and Firefox will suddenly hangon and the blue screen will appear again with same message "irql_not_less_or_equal" occasionally. Yesterday i started getting Sata disk message again.
I wanted to understand why this message is coming back along with blue screen of death. Is there some problem with Windows OS or hard disk seems to crash again?

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From this article, this is the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL possible cause:
"This bug check is issued if paged memory (or invalid memory) is accessed when the IRQL is too high.
The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver, system service, or BIOS.
If you encounter bug check 0xA while upgrading to a later version of Windows, this error might be caused by a device driver, a system service, a virus scanner, or a backup tool that is incompatible with the new version."
From your description, It's possible that the HDD or the RAM is faulty but it's also possible that it's a software (driver) issue -- which is the hard drive (SATA) controller.
To verify, I would:
1. Run a diagnostic on the HDD (via Lenovo's Storage Quick Test or via HD Tune)
- http://www.hdtune.com/faq_1.html
2. Run a diagnostic on the RAM (via Memtest86+)
- RAM - Test with Memtest86+
3, Read the BSOD dump file to see what file caused the crash
- How to solve Windows 8 crashes in less than a minute
- If the file is associated with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (SATA Controller), uninstall the software from the Control Panel > Programs and let Windows install a generic Windows driver.

If you get an error after running the diagnostic test, I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology (pre-OS) driver installation

My desktop machine is built on Gigabyte GA-Z87-UD3H and Gigabyte provides the latest driver for Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST), which I installed after installing
the OS. Same goes for my Lenovo Thinkpad-T420. And for both machine, checking the controller device under the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers section in Device Manager I see the driver has been updated to the latest version.
I set the SATA controller to AHCI from BIOS
On the desktop machine I have one WD 2TB BLACK & one WD 3TB Green
- I don’t use RAID, & no chance of using in near future, but according to Intel IRST improves performance in single disk scenario too.
Now I have the following questions –
What is the actual purpose of IRST (pre-OS install) driver that doesn’t get served with a post-OS driver that I installed? There must be some difference, otherwise there wouldn’t be a pre-OS version of the driver. Right?
In the pre-OS procedure (loading the drivers at OS-installation time) after successfully completing the OS installation, do I need that post-OS driver? Because after installing from that one I got a quick launch icon that runs the IRST configuration application.
Where do get that after installing the pre-OS driver?
As it is “pre-OS”, when I load it at OS-installation time, does it updates anything at BIOS level or anywhere other than HDD? That’s because I’m going to dual boot Windows 7 with Windows 8.1, and after installing Windows 7 when I install Windows 8.1 &
load the IRST driver for that, is there any chance of any “overwriting” or OS-incompatibility? In short, is there anything specific to follow while installing
the second OS?

According to Intel, it provides benefits to users of single drives as well.

It's recommend you install the proper version which is applied to every OS.
Pre-OS install driver is mainly basic driver used to make sure boot system successfully. Post-OS driver is primarily intended to some function working better.

T410 System Update 4 - Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver "Package did not install" Error

I've not had a problem with system Update 4 until today. I went out to check for any updates and there was only one (Optional) listed so I went ahead and tried to install it.
It is Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver for Windows 64bit. The installed version is 9.5.7.1002 and the version trying to be installed is 9.6.0.1014. The progress bar indicated it downloaded and tried to install, but ended with the error, "1 Package did not install." Not a lot of help in that statement!?!
Has anyone had a problem like this before? Any idea how to "fix" it so I can install this update?
I even tried once with MS Security Essentials, Windows Firewall and UAC turned off with no difference.
System details are in my sig, below.

G500 need help with Intel Rapid Storage Technology email notifications configuration.

I have a new Lenovo G500 laptop running Win 8.1. I have discovered the Rapid Storage Technology icon and have been trying to set up email notifications in Preferences using the desktop interface.
Without going into a lengthy description about what I have done already, I can tell you that I have configured the Email Preferences so the test email does not fail immediately, but it does not send the email, either; it just spins In Progress without stopping until cancelled manually using the button. I get no error messages.
I have looked at firewall and allowing IntelCpHeciSvc.exe through because I wanted to see if it made a difference; I have looked for Intel entries in System Configuration & Task Manager Services to try and find a reason for the test email not sending, there.
I have the correct SMTP host address and corresponding Port correct, having gleaned the info from BT's web site, and all the email addresses I have included are active.
Can anyone suggest what I am failing to address?

[Z77A-GD65] Intel Rapid Storage Technology 11.5.0.1207

Hi,
I've been updating some drivers today on a new build (in sig. below) with W8RP following the recent release of new drivers.
Updated drivers to latest for Chipset, VGA, Intel Management Engine, but when I get to RST I get the following error;
'This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.'
I've rebooted after each driver update.
This also happened to me a few days ago on a previous OS install on this machine, but on that occasion the version on the supplied DVD with the MB was the same version number and worked fine, of course this is now out of date.
I have my SATA controller set to RAID and I see my drives in the RAID ROM prior to POST but as yet no RAID ARRAY set up, but last time I did this, that was done when following the prompts when starting RST the first time.
I'm trying to use my SSD to accelerate my HDD but not sure why I get the above error message :-s

Thanks for that, somehow some confusion had crept into proceedings and I was trying to use the Rapid Start package which is now no surprise why it was complaining at me because I don't have that switched on in bios at the moment.
The link you supplied is right, I had that already but somehow had got it confused with the Rapid Start one. It also has the floppy file set for supplying during OS install which is not separately highlighted on the downloads page like it is for the earlier version. Extracted and tested the setup file in the package you linked to 'intel_rst8_mb' which completes setup now.
I've taken my driver / utility load sequencing from Live Update 5 History Tab prior to me uninstalling it.

I had problems when trying to install USB3 driver (W7 x64) on prior install of W8RP because it complained at me for not having appropriate hardware so maybe it is already catered for in W8 but I don't have any USB3 devices to test and can't see any reference to USB3 in Device Manager. I guess it depends whether W8 includes the Intel driver :s
Going to redo my OS install so I can satisfy myself that I've got a good clean install to make a drive image from.

Tecra Z50-A - Intel Rapid Storage Technology not working

We have purchased a lot of Toshiba Tecra Z50-A laptops with a Hybrid HDD (with SSD cache).
The exact model:
TECRA Z50-A
PT544E-00D01TBT
We stage and re-partition the laptops via SCCM.
However, when installing all drivers and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software, I see that only rge HDD is used and no SSD partition with Intel RST.
How can we enable this?
The problem is that the performance is incredibly bad.
The laptops are very slow even though the specs are good:
i5-4200U CPU
8GB RAM
Windows 7 x64
Any idea how to enable this Intel RST?
In the BIOS I can't find any options for RAID as this needs to be enabled for RST to work.

Well, I have tried the the latest Intel RST drivers from the Toshiba site and from the Intel site as well.
When installing the driver from Intel I also have the Intel RST Control Center where you can view and change some settings.
From all the info I've gathered, there should be an "Accelerate" tab in the Intel RST Control Center but there isn't.
What ever I try, the performance of all our Toshiba laptops are bad. Very bad. (we have 100 +)
Every user who received a Toshiba complained about the performance.
Right now I am testing it with a different HDD (WD 320GB 7200rpm)... No difference.
Seriously, these laptop are the worst I've worked with in the last decade.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology and the Envy 700-330qe

I have a new Envy 700-330qe CTO. One of the suggested driver updates on the hp support is for Intel Rapid Storage Technology. I initially thought that this was a driver for hardware like my old Pavilion had (it had an Intel Matrix Storage Manager board which managed RAID 0, 1, or 0+1). Now I see that it is a RAID software emulation program. Nowhere in the documention that came with the machine is there any mention of this machine's capability to run any form of RAID. I do have two HDD's and they are the same size, so theoretically I could run RAID 0 or 1 if I so choose, but nowhere is there any mention of a way to do this. I did see that the BIOS must be set to run RAID.
I am NO expert. I was wondering where I can find further into on how to set up a machine with RAID. Thus far, I have not even taken a peek at the BIOS (not even sure how to do this, so some of you may think I am stupid). I guess I get a bit bent out of shape when a product has features that should be out in the open but appear to be hidden. Any help would be reallyhl appreciated.

I am sure that you noticed that the HP configurator doesn't offer an option to cache a RAID configuration. The Intel IRST MSATA caching functionality does rely on the RAID setup process to activate caching on one HD.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology MSI H87-G43

I built a new system for a relative using the H87-G43 MSI board. I have set up a SSD 64 GB to be used as a Caching disk using Intel's Rapid Storage Technology.
I followed the set up procedure which required a BIOS change to RAID Mode before the OS was installed. So I have one 500 GB drive that is accelerated and the 64 GB SSD that is being used as the caching drive.
No errors or BSOD's when booting, I had to enable the drive in the Intel console for this(it sees the drive just fine) to work. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology(Intel SRT) really improves boot times over just using the mechanical drive. It is not a performance issue I am having just a reporting issue I think.
The question I have is about how Windows is reporting the drives in Device manager and computer management.
In device manager only the 500 GB drive is shown and it is shown as a SCSI device.
In computer management only the 500 GB drive is shown.
Both drives are shown in the Intel management console for this technology.
The computer is running fine and zippy, I am just a bit concerned about the 500GB drive (SATA) being reported as SCSI. Funny I downloaded SPECCY and it shows it as a SCSI drive as well using a 40 pin cable.
Any help, thoughts, ideas, or experience with this technology that could enlighten me would be very helpful.

Can't install Intel Matrix Storage Driver on Vista 64 bit P-35 NEO-2 FR

I downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage Manager File to support E-SATA drivers. In the notes section it states "NOTE 1: If the system is running Windows* 64-bit version,
the Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager driver supporting
64-bit should be used."
How do I install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver for my P-35 so my board will dectect E-sata connections? It's telling me that the installation can't continue becuase my computer does not meet the minimum requirements. This cannot be.

This is a Windows Problem. The generic SATA AHCI Drivers that come with Vista are pretty much crab and don't always work (that is why you get a bluescren, usually with a 0x0000007b stop error).
The cleanest way to solve the problem is to reinstall Windows Vista with AHCI Mode enabled in BIOS and integrate the Intel ICH9R SATA AHCI Drivers in Vista Setup. Another way is to try a repair installation after you have enabled the AHCI Mode (doesn't always work). A third way is to force Windows to use the Intel Drivers via a registry patch. I am not sure how well that will work with Vista. The procedure for XP is described here:
