Can't load m4v files into Photoshop

I created a H264 Blu-ray (m4v) using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. It was a exported as 1080i file. I tried to load this file into Photoshop CS4 extended. Photoshop says that it "could not complete your request because the movie file could not be opened". Can anyone help as it is important to me to apply some Photoshop to fix overexposure which it does superbly to a Quick Time (720*480) file. I want to do the same for 1080i file.
Thx
Sundar

I initially captured the clip as .MTS in 1080. Using premiere CS4, I exported part of the clip as H264 Blu-Ray (m4v). If I try QT as output format, it is of lower resolution. You are right that Photoshop does not have problem in pulling in QT clips.
You answered your own question. H.264 BluRay is a multiplexed sub-format of H.264 which is not compatible with QT's implementation of H.264. If you want to use H.264, you must export normal H.264 and the profile level must be set to 3.1, basic in the exporter. Then, after export, you simply rename the file to *.mov. That aside, you can always use alternate Quicktime CoDecs like PNG or PhotoJPEG and directly export to a MOV. Your loss in quality is due to incorrect field settings, so that needs to be set properly. It merely doesn't affect your H.264 output, because there everything is set correctly already in the presets.

Download the Adobe DNG Converter (and install it, and run it...).
Note: an internet search will reveal a link in short order.

  • Problem loading .orf files into photoshop

I have CC on both an iMac and a MacBook Pro
.orf files will load into photoshop on the iMac but not on the MacBook Pro.  A popup appears which states need to update for latest RAW files.  I have run and installed the latest update but without success.  Since updating I've tried switching off and back on but with no success.
    What do I do next?

    Thanks partial success
ACR was 8.3.  I've uploaded version 8.6 using the link provided and now able to read files into photoshop but
    1. Mini bridge does not show thumbnails only a place holder with no image
    2. The version on the iMac is 8.4 which I will also update but on both computers clicking on product update on Apple menu did not show the latest ACR update.  How can I arrange for auto updates without continually checking using the above link whether an update is available.

  • How can I import svg files into photoshop?

I am trying to import some svg files into photoshop shapes, how is that done?

Although you CAN open SVG into Illustrator, save it as PSD or Illustrator, I think Photoshop should directly support opening SVG files in the same way it does PDF. You set the pixel size you want and then rasterize it.

  • Canon T4i and can't load RAW photos into Photoshop 5.1. Is there an extension or plug in for this?

The question says it all. Trying to load my RAW pictures from my Canon T4i using Photoshop 5.1. It says it does not recognize this version of RAW. Help?
Is there an extension or Plug in?
I remember it used to work until I did an update.

Photoshop 5.x is ancient, from last millennium.  I'll assume you meant Photoshop CS5.1.
The highest version of ACR, the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in, that will run on Photoshop CS5.x, is ACR 6.7.
The Digital Rebel T4i = EOS 650D = EOS Kiss X4i was supported by ACR for the very first time in ACR 7.1, which needs at least Photoshop CS6 to run.
Your recollection is faulty.  You will never be able to open raw files from that camera directly from CS5.1.
You need to look for, download and run the free, standalone Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1 on each and every batch of Canon raw files from that camera in order to convert them into raw DNGs that you can open in your versions of Photoshop and ACR.

  • Can you place linked files into Photoshop CS4?

If you place a .psd or .tif file into an InDesign file, you are alerted if any changes are made to that file (as I'm sure most of you know). Is there any way to do this within Photoshop? I have several dozen carpet sample .tif files that are to be used in several hundred "montage" type "carpet sample groups" layered .psd files that will then be saved as images for the web (does that make sense?). Is there any way to do this so that if there's a change in the original .tif file it will automatically change any .psd file in which it's being used? I know the easiest way to do this is in InDesign, but I have two problems: 1) the conversion from InDesign to a web image is laborious, and 2) the person doing the work does not know InDesign at all. I can show him how to use it, but that's a small part of the battle.
Any suggestions? I'm using CS4 for Windows.
    Thanks,
    Lloyd

Thanks for your comments. The problem arises because we have to create that intermediate Photoshop step.
We have, say, a dozen individual carpet swatches that are used to create hundreds of combinations (which are all separate layered .psd files). If one swatch changes (color, for example), then we have to open every .psd file in which that swatch appears and change it (or place the changed one). I'd love to be able to change the original and have it update every layered file in which it appears, just like InDesign does with placed/linked files.
    Maybe there's a plug-in (wishful thinking)?
Also, I'd really like to have it changed in the web development end of things, but we're working with a company that is (obviously) using templates and we can only give them single images, hence the need to create the intermediate Photoshop files.

  • Can't load PSDX files in Photoshop CS6

I have downloaded and installed the Touch Apps Plugins but when I try to open a PSDX file it just tells me it's "the wrong kind of file". How do I open these on my desktop? I've been having this problem since the tablet version of PSTouch came out.

It seems there are two types of Application Manager!
    i) the one when you buy the full Photoshop CS6 (or any of the suites)
ii) the one when you are a clour member and rent Photoshop CS6 (or ...)
The first one i) does NOT allow to download the PSDX plugin.
So I installed the other ii) Application Manager, as proposed on the Adobe Cloud page. And I could download the plugin and it was nicely installed and usable in Photoshop.
!!! BUT !!! be careful. Afterwards my applications for which I paid (a lot of) money were just listed as "try" in the applicaiton manager.
Luckily I backed up the original "Adobe Application Manager" application beforehands* (as I was expecting something like that). I put it back, overwritting the new one. And it works again (I can update all my applicaitons). And now includes the plugin.

  • Can't load master files into iPhoto

I imported photos in iPhoto using an SD card, I downloded them.  At that point I thought tyhey would be in my photo library I downloaded in about 1000 photos.  It says they are in pictures/iPhoto library/masters/ 2013/03/24/2013 etc but I tried to bring thm into iPhoto and it says I can't.  Do I have to reimport all these photos or is therte a procedure to getting them into an album?

You need to explain what you are doing and what problem you are having - your post makes no sense
I imported photos in iPhoto using an SD card,
    Ok so far
    I downloded them.
    But what does this mean?
At that point I thought tyhey would be in my photo library
    By default they are
I downloaded in about 1000 photos.  It says they are in pictures/iPhoto library/masters/ 2013/03/24/2013 etc
What is "It" - when using iPhoto you never see nor access the files within the iPhoto library - you only access them using iPhoto - to see the masters folder you are accessing the iPhoto library using teh finder - something you do not do
but I tried to bring thm into iPhoto
Again what does this mean? - you have imported them to iPhoto so they are in iPhoto - Please explain what you are doing and why
    and it says I can't
Again - what is "It" - and exactly what does "it" say - again please exactly what you are doing and why
Do I have to reimport all these photos
No why would you? why do you ask? Did "it" say you needed to?
is therte a procedure to getting them into an album?
the procedure for getting photos into an album is to select the photos and create an album (file menu ==> new album)

  • "Load files into Photoshop layers" fails to complete CS6

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can help with the folling problem with Photoshop & Bridge CS6
When in Bridge, after selecting 6 images (CR2) using the command TOOLS>LOAD FILES INTO PHOTOSHOP LAYERS the first file will load into Photoshop, Photoshop will then generate a second blank layer and then read the second file. At this point the "script" will stop. I am left with a document with 2 layers. The top layer has my first image, the bottom layer is empty.
At this point when I quit Photoshop I am prompted to save this open document which appears to be the only open document. I choose not to save this as a file. I then get a dialogue box prompting to save another open document. Photoshop has loaded the second file to place as a layer but as the "script" has aborted I am left with an open, but invisible file.
When I first loaded CS6 on Snow Leopard, it would demonstrate this behaviour every time I attempted to run this command from Bridge.
I did a clean install on a blank HDD of OSX Lion. Installed CS6. The command worked without fail for about a month.
Then I would get the command aborting occasionally. Restarting Photoshop would let me continue for a few hours before this aborted script problem would happen again.
Over the last week it has become more frequent, to a point where this workflow is unusable.
A restart of Photoshop may fix the problem for the next batch of images, only to fail again soon after, or fail on the first attempt after a relaunch of Photoshop.
A reboot of my computer will allow my to load one or two sets of files before again failing to complete the command.
    I have tried the following:
    In Photoshop preferences:
    disabling the "Use graphics Processor"
Increasing or decreasing the amount of RAM available to Photoshop
Changing the cache levels or changing the cache tile size
    changing the scratch disk
Trashing the Photoshop preferences file (Photoshop Settings.psp)
    In Bridge
    Purging the cache
Increasing or decreasing the cache size
Resetting Bridge preferences (holding Command on launch) and deleting all cache files.
    In general system
Quitting extra programs (Safari, Thunderbird, iTunes)
Sometimes this will seem to then allow Photoshop to load a full set of images, only to abort again after a few sets.
Rebooting the computer - again will work for a few images sets before again failing.
Now the fact that it worked fine for several weeks without presenting a problem would indicate that it is not a bug.
The fact that is slowly started happening then became more frequent would indicate something changing slowly over time - a larger cache folder perhaps, although purging known Bridge cache folders has not filed the problem.
Really at the end of my tether here. Even considering downgrading to CS5 - but don't want to have to use the older Adobe Camera Raw.
    System is as follows:
    Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Quad Core
    24GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 4870 512
    OSX Lion 10.7.4
I have seen a couple of others have posted having a the same problem, both with CS5 and CS6.
    Hoping someone has an answer.
    Thanks.

Hi JJMack - I just re-read your post. For some reason I thought you were suggesting to make sure "Open documents in Tabs" was selected, it was. Now I realize you were suggesting to turn it off! As another attemp to solve this problem I did de-select it today. Seemed to work for a good while. I was getting very excited, then, on the last set of images I had to do it displayed the same problem. But, it did go for quite a while without failing, and when it did I was thrashing about trying to make another app active. When loading documents like this - with "Open documents in Tabs" de-selected, Photoshop wants to put the loading images as the front-most window, no matter what other apps (Bridge, email, web etc) I click on in the dock. I think it is related to the bug you described effecting the "load files to stack" command.
Hopefully Adobe is looking at this - mind you, I have read reports of people having this problem in CS5! Looks like that was never resolved sadly.
I'll keep testing and post back.
I am looking to upgrade my video card to see if it's a video memory thing.
What is very weird though is the fact that this problem didn't present itself until after several weeks of working with this command with no problem. No additional apps installed, nothing changed. Why would it start happening only after a while?
    Thanks again for your suggestion.

  • "Load files into Photoshop layers" completely missing from Bridge CS6

No options to load files into Photoshop layers. Why not, and how can I put several files into one Photoshop layer?
I'm using Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CC.

Hi JJMack - I just re-read your post. For some reason I thought you were suggesting to make sure "Open documents in Tabs" was selected, it was. Now I realize you were suggesting to turn it off! As another attemp to solve this problem I did de-select it today. Seemed to work for a good while. • Load Files into Photoshop Layers hanging...

I have both Bridge CS5 4.0.4.2 and Photoshop CS5 12.0.2 x64 open and running on a MacBookPro... when I highlight a few files inside of Bridge CS5, then go to Tools, Photoshop, Load Files Into Photoshop Layers, when those files start opening in Photoshop and stacking as Layers, the process just hangs and stops processing after the first Layer is placed - any ideas why this happens, or just a bug? Thank you!

any ideas why this happens, or just a bug?
As I can’t reproduce the issue so I would assume it’s not a bug per se.
Have you tried trashing prefs for Photoshop (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed)?

  • How to create keyboard for Load Files into Photoshop

does anyone know if there is a way to create or is there an existing keyboard shortcut to Load Files into Photoshop from Bridge?

I should have been more specifc.
Much like in bridge-tools-photoshop-load files into photoshop, I want to load multiple files into a layered photoshop document.
Can't seem to find a keyboard shortcut for this action. Though I don't know how to write scripts very well but there are far too many keyboard shortcut posts I've searched and can't seem to find a way.
    thanks
