Yes, you keep them for your iPad. If your hard drive space is at such a premium, then you should get a larger drive or add an external drive to which you can copy off some of your other files. Everything you download, add to, or purchase through iTunes for your iPad will take up more and more space.

  • Can't locate songs after moving iTunes folder

After years of having all of my iTunes music on an external drive, I upgraded the Macbook's HD and decided to move the songs back. After doing so and pointing iTunes to the new location, it still asks me to click and find each file (which would take forever with 100GB of music).
-The ITL file and everything else has been on the Mac HD in Users/Music/iTunes with only the music on the external drive in a folder called "iTunes". All I did was cut and paste every file from the external folder into Users/Music/iTunes/iTunesMusic which was previously empty. I changed the location, it did its updating, but nothing is being located. Everything is the same as before.
-Every time I locate a song it creates a new folder called music and puts the identified tracks in there.
-Is there a script I can use to locate all of the songs since they're all right in that folder? The only thing that has changed is that they moved. For some reason iTunes isn't playing them even though I changed the location under preferences.

  • Can't Close Info Box on itunes

If I click on the info tab for descriptions then I can not close the box that appears without quitting itunes. The box extends to both ends of the screen and there is no close tab on the top right corner. How do I fix this?

I stream using Nicecast as well. Keep computers in perfect maintenance state. Library of over 20,000 songs, numerous playlists. Been streaming since 2005. Itunes 8 has been a disaster in my opinion. Hoped 8.1.1 would stop crashing. Filed the 15th very detailed crash report this morning. 8 thru 8.1.1 are very slow to drag, so slow that it is possible to drag one open playlist UNDER another, then it will pop to the forefront. Songs move at a snails pace. Segue is erratic, sometimes beautiful, other time snoozing. When about to crash it no longer records time and date played in the "Last Played" file. When crash occurs it shut downs Nicecast stream as well, BUT even though it says it has crashed, itunes screens remain open and will play for a short time, then screens disappear and it recrashes. After crashes, reset permissions, the rwrr (?) is always out - this occurs on all computers station uses, not unique to one. Run Cocktail, have done the PRAM many times - even Disc Warrior'ed the machines. Almost always crashes during a segue between songs, usually plays a bit of the song then goes down and usually does this near the top of the hour or the half hour. Formerly recommended itunes to other streamers, now do not recommend - as there is little radio style software for macs, makes it difficult to recommend Macs as a streaming platform, which is a pity because Macs are great music computers, what with iTunes (when working) being a great dj program, GarageBand, SoundStudio, Audio HiJack etc available.
I'm rather frustrated, fear going backwards and the potential to lose literally 1000's of hours of work building playlists.

  • Itunes can't locate purchased songs even after re-downloaded from itunes

    Hello,
I had lost some of my data and with the help of this forum I was able to find my purchase history and re-download 580 songs to my computer but when I go to itunes alot of the items I just downloaded are not located by itunes? Did I miss something? Please help.
    Thank You.

I just bought an iMac and am having trouble getting my iTunes transferred over from my PC. Is there a faster way than transferring the songs to my external hard drive, then to the Mac? Also when I signed in as myself to iTunes on the Mac, I bought a couple of songs from iTunes and now it won't allow me to play them. It asks me to authorize the computer and then says it was successful. But then it goes through the same thing motions each time on the same song. I can't play them at all and I bought them on the Mac TODAY! I have only had one iTunes account, so that isn't the issue...any idea what I can do? Is this going to happen with all of my songs? Also it says I authorized 3 other computers to use my iTunes but I have no idea aside from my PC how that occured and how to undo it. Any help would be appreciated....

  • How can I locate, uninstall Quicktime and iTunes in order to reinstall?

Installed iTunes and Quicktime and bought music. Then tried to access a couple of week later. From iTunes got message 'the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable'. Quicktime says 'Error 46: could not load or find the QT ActiveX control'. I can't access them through Add/Remove Programs, so can't uninstall or update. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    DELL   Windows XP

I've installed and run Win Install Cleanup. Have tried reinstalling iTunes and QT a couple of times. Both times, the status bar freezes at four 'blocks' from the end, with the message 'Registering iTunes automation server'. The Task Manager says the installer's status is Running, so I don't know what to do, other than uninstall as best I can and start the process again. Could it be that the Security Center is preventing it from completing the installation? Any suggestions gratefully received.

  • I Trashed Some Song Files from my Computer that Had Been Previously Matched, and Now iTunes Can't Located Them. How Do I Download Them from the Cloud?

The title pretty much says it all. I deleted some songs from my hard drive that had already been added to the cloud using iTunes Match, and now, when I try to play them, I'm asked to locate the files. The songs are still available on my other devices, so I didn't delete them from the cloud. How do I reconect the songs on my computer with the files in the cloud?

Apple provides a brain-dead simple way to backup all your personal data in the form of Time Machine that keeps incremental backups going back at least several weeks, if not months (depending on the size of the backup drive). Why more people don't use it is a puzzle to me. In this day and age of person, and very important, data being digitial (sometimes exclusively) backing everything up becomes imperative. Ideally a good backup scheme should incorporate multiple backup solutions in case of very serious emergencies, but for most people, and in the case described in the OP TM is a very good solution. If a file is deleted, then found to be needed again, just go to the date and time in TM just before the file was deleted and restore it. Simple. But it doesn't work if you aren't backing up. So... backup, backup, backup. You'll thank yourself that you did when you finally need it.

  • Can iPhone apps be updated via iTunes v download from home network?

I thought that by connecting my iphone through itunes on my laptop I could get all updates for my apps through itunes via synching and it would go very fast.    I have 27 apps currently updating and it has taken nearly 35 mins and the app updates are still downloading.   It's fine I guess when I'm home but I just updated apps a few weeks ago outside of my home network and AT&T had a field day with the amount of data I downloaded, especially since I couldn't cancel the updates.
Also, is there any blessed way to cancel the updates (yes I know they are meant to be there for a reason, but if I don't want them downloading via a cellular network, can I cancel or pause until I am into my home network?
    Thanks,
    Bill

First of all, your profile above indicates you are running OS X 10.6.8.  Is this true?  If so, realize this is the oldest version of OS X that supports the current iTunes (11.2.2).  So once the next version of iOS is released, it seems likely that you would either be required to upgrade your OS X or no longer be able to sync your iPhone.
Given you are running an iTunes version that supports your iPhone, open iTunes on your computer, click the "Apps" tab, then click "Check for Updates" in the lower right.  After you have done that, syncing your iPhone using iTunes will cause the latest versions of the iOS apps to be downloaded to your iPhone from your iTunes.

  • Where can I find previous version of iTunes to download?

I upgraded my iTunes to version 9 and as it turns out will not work with my current Os 10.3.9. I then uninstalled it and put verions 8 in as in turns out that is also not able to run with my version of Quicktime. Basicaly i need to download version 7 in order to get it running again. For some reason Apple does not seem to have a place to download older iTunes verions, only ver 9 and 8. I have heard of a site called oldaps.com but it turns out they no longer carry itunes for mac, only for windows.
If anyone can point me to a place I can download older versions of iTunes that would be very helpfull.
    Thanks

You can get iTunes 7.7 for Mac from the Apple downloads section: iTunes 7.7

  • How can I get my cds in itunes to download in the cloud so I can sync them into my iphone

Do you have to pay a yearly fee?

iTunes Match is a yearly subscription service that does this.  Otherwise sync itunes on your computer to your device using USB.

  • How to recover song that are "lost", itunes can't find them even though I have downloaded and played them before

Does anyone know how to recover songs that itunes has "lost"?
I downloaded them, synced my ipod, songs were added and I was able to play them.
On a recent sync the songs are suddenly "not found" according to itunes.  I can't locate them in the itunes folder, so I have no idea where itune put them.  BTW-this is not the first time itunes stored songs in a random directory......  Since itune can't find them, they were deleted from my ipod

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.
I'm going to have to contact Apple anyway to reset the security questions. That's obvious. Your answers were not exactly helpful. You didn't tell me anything I don't already know, but thanks for trying to be helpful.

  • I lost my ipod how can i locate it?

i lost my ipod recently how can i locate it? i haven't download the Find my iphone app on my ipod before i lost it and i haven't created an icloud account either. Pls.... can someone help me...

    No app is required
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the APple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
