Can't log in iMac to Extreme/Express WDS Net

I've got a WPA-protected WDS network at home, with AirPort Extreme as the base station and Express as the remote. Works for my PB G4 and my wife's iBook G4. We can both print to the printer connected to the Extreme base station. The WPA password has been added to the Keychain on both laptops, so security is invisible, but there. Our internet connection is an Earthlink DSL modem connected to the base station by ethernet via a router. Again, it works fine for the two laptops.
Now I want to add my kids' flat panel iMac (OS 10.3.6) to the WDS, but every time I select the network from the Airport icon in the Menu bar and it asks for the WPA password, when I key it, it says there is an error and cannot connect to the network. Yes, I'm keying the correct WPA password. Previously, this iMac connected normally to a network using only AirPort Extreme.
Suggestions are welcome

Duane, I upgraded the iMac to 10.3.9, which includes AirPort 4.2 (the latest). I did it by moving back to the non-password protected Exteme-only network and updated the iMac software in the usual way. But the iMac STILL cannot get past the password entry.
I read the doc you referenced in your message. I do NOT get the error message it says might appear: "The password you entered is not correct for the AirPort network <network_name>." Rather, the error message says something like " There was an error on attempting to connect...."
Puzzled. The iMac is an 800mHz flat panel with 768MB RAM.

Part of your message seems to be missing. Please re-post including the model number of Express that you have.
Look on the side of the device for the model number. It starts with an "A" followed by four numbers.

Can't log in to AirPort Extreme but I am connected to the network

So I am trying to log into my AirPort Extreme base station. My password is not working.
I am able to connect to the internet and the rest of the network, I just can't log into the Base station through the AirPort utility. I have other wireless devices that are connected to the network and they have no problems.
I tried reseting the Base station as described in the help files and using the default password "public", but that doesn't seem to work either. Am I not reseting the Base station properly? I don't know. I held the button with the tip of the pen, the light on the front went yellow/orange.
I am at a loss. I need to see my network settings and correct some port forwarding issues.
Any help would be great.

If all your counter measures fail then power off the modem and router. Disconnect all ethernet to the router. Power on the modem. Power on the router then do a reset then connect ethernet.

Extreme - Express WDS . . .and my VPN

I have an Aiport Extreme and Express connected via WDS. I have a company VPN . . .it will let me log on to it, but it won't download anything. I just switched from a Linnksys router . . everything worked fine. I went to a coffee shop . . . connected to their wireless, everything worked fine. I come home . . . it doesn't. Help.

I have an AEBS that works fine with my Macbook Pro's. I can not log onto work via VPN (iPASS) wirelessly however. We used to be able to when we had a Linksys router. We can use iPASS via ethernet and establish VPN so this is something confined to the wireless settings in the AEBS. I am using WEP and g/b compatibility. The PC work computers can connect to the wireless router but can not be activated through VPN. No clues what to do at this point

Can't log off iMac

When I log off or Shut down the computer will restart. This happen about 5 times, before it actually shuts down. I do I stop this? I make sure all program-Apps are closed.

What type of account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
Does your wife have any third-party Mail plugins? Does she have either a /Library/Mail/Bundles or a ~/Library/Mail/Bundles folder in the Finder?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items. What do you see there?
In Mail, open Window > Activity Viewer. What do you see there when Mail refuses to quit? Actually, you may be able to avoid having to force quit Mail by canceling whatever it's doing (by clicking on the red stop icon of the activity).
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

On CLI on CUE execute "show group detail groupname Administrators" command output will shows members of the Administrators group

Airport Extreme & Express WDS Network with 5Ghz possible?

Hi Guys,
is it possible to run an Airport WDS Network with 5Ghz? I´m using an Airport Extreme Base and a Express, but its only possible to run it with Draft N in 2,4 Ghz... so thats not enough... for IPTV.
any ideas...

No. WDS is an 802.11g feature and 802.11g only operates at 2.4 GHz.

Dell 600m not connecting to Airport Extreme/Express WDS

I have spent the last month or so, every other week on the phone with Dell for 2 hours at a time. We are creeping up on about 10 hours total on the phone with these genii and I still have a computer that will not consitently connect to my Airport Extreme WDS. I have gone through all of iFelix's pages on connecting a Windows system to an Airport and nothing works. Dell tells me it's my airport and that it doesn't work with Airport. I know different because it has worked then it stops. It usually works for about a week or so then on it's own something wigs out and it stops working. I use my PC for one purpose - Spot/FOREX trading - that's it! I need help in the worst way and no one has an answer. Every time I call Dell I get a different story. One person tells me to use the Intel PROset utility to manage my wifi connection on my PC then another person will tell me to use the Windows Zero configuration. It's a 600m laptop with the Intel PROset wireless 2200. It hasn't worked right since I bought it new from the Dell Kiosk. It works fine when hard wired to the network but wifi is sketchy at best. Please someone help me before I take a 4lb sledgehammer and pull a Gallagher on this machine. And please don't just post links to iFelix's site. I have been there and done that numerous times it's not working. It sees my network but it won't connect. Yet it will connect to my neighbors unsecure network. My Airport is Broadcast, WPA encryption. It shows up in available networks, you click connect, it asks you for the WPA key, you type it in and it scrolls for a few minutes then says it can't connect. I have connected to other networks. Dell is telling me I should get a different router and that there are compatibility issues with XP and Airport. Help please please please. I am about to pull my hair out.

Some Internet providers that limit access to a single device at a time do so by the device's hardware MAC address. If your ISP is one of those, you may be able to substitute the MAC address of your AirPort Express base station for the computer. I would suggest that you contact them to find out if this is allowable.

My wireless keyboard has come unpaired and I can't log in to my iMac to pair it...help!!

You can access your Mac from your iPhone or iPad through a remote desktop client like Splashtop or LogMeIn if you already have something like this installed. Are you sure that your keyboard is 'discoverable'? (Hold button until light comes on and then goes off. Release button, then depress agin. The light will come on, hold for for about 3 seconds then let go. The light on the keyboard should be blinking in a 3 flash succession.) If it doesn't connect to the Mac after this, you'll need to get/borrow/buy a USB Keyboard (It's always good to have one of these handy anyway when you have a wireless accessory setup as your main way of connecting with your Mac).
Once you do get in to your system, be sure and go to System Preferences>Bluetooth and make sure that the 'Discoverable' box is checked. Also, go on to the Advanced pane and make sure that the box that says "Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup if no trackpad or mouse is detected" is Checked.

My Window 7 notebook can't log on to my iMac after installing Lion.

I have a home network with my Imac and my wife's window 7 Notebook. Router is an Airport Extreme.
Before installing Lion. I can connect to my iMac from Window using "\\imac name". Also I have a couple iMac's folders mounted as network drives on the Window 7 notebook.
Installed Lion last night. File sharing in itunes is still working. I can still connect to the Window notebook from my iMac. The Mount network drives on the Window notebook are also working, I can still access those iMac folders from the Window 7 notebook.
But when I try to connect to the iMac from Window using "\\imac name". It says the iMac "is not accessible" and I "might not have permission to use the network resource".
Turned off and restarted all the computers and the airport router. Still don't work.

IMac can't log-in after regular e-update

This is a follow up for my old post.
My iMac-G4(flat panel) can not log-in after the on-line free software e-update provided by Apple weekly. The actual diagnosis is: start up the iMac, when the blue-bar finishes, no log-in box showing up, so I can't log-in to use. I have tried to re-install, but it could not re-install. But I ran the Hardware Test CD, it said OK. I took the iMac to Apple's Hong Kong support center, they charged me HK$600(US$80) for examination fee, then said it was the logic-board problem and needed to replace for another HK$6000(US$800) cost. I ended up not to fix it as too expensive. Anyone have opinion? Because I thought if the logic board died, how can I still able to start up and run the Hardware Test CD?

My iMac just crashed after the latest software update - (iMac 20" Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 256MB-VRAM)
After the latest software update, the screen went grey and black boxes appeared with messages about a "panic". Needed to use power button to restart but I received the same message ("panic" and need to use power button).
AppleCare didn't solve it - They had me "Repair Disk" (it was OK, no repair needed) then they had me try a "Archive Install" but that didn't finish (after about 40 min. it locked-up with only 2 min. to go!). I tried this 3 times with the same problem during the last 2 min. (it was installing iWeb files...)
I have Apple Care but since they couldn't help, I plan to take it to the Apple Store today.
I can't believe your logic board is bad either...
Anyone else having a problem with the latest updates??
