Can't log in using AD accounts in 10.7.2 until logged in locally

Hello,
I have an iMac that was shipped with 10.7.1 but was updated to 10.7.2 because of some serious AD integration issues.
Since the system was received, no network users can log into the machine until a local username is logged in, then logged out.
When the Mac starts, the username field has a red dot that says "Network accounts unavailable". If we let it sit long enough, it will eventually turn orange and say "Some network accounts available" but will not let our AD accounts log in.
If I restart and log into the system as a local admin, then go to System Preferences > Users & Groups, I can wait for a couple of minutes and the domain server status dot turns green, I can then log out and log in as network accounts.
I've already contacted support but they've elevated it as far as they'll take it without us paying $700 for further support.
We have a handful of other Macs ranging from 10.5.8-10.6.8 which connect to the same network just fine (although it took a couple patches to work out the kinks).
I've seen other posts related to authentication issues in 10.7 but I'm not sure if they're directly related and I didn't want to hijack their posts.
Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem with Opera 11.61 on Windows 7. When I try to login, the login window just goes to a blank page titled "Widget Callback" and it doesn't close. Logging in using Chrome works fine.

HI,
Your specs say OS X 10.6.8 which would be iChat 5.x.x in Snow Leopard.
This version by default tries to login in to the AIM server called login.oscar.aol.com on port 5190 using the TCP protocol.
An internet connection is made up of 65535 of these so called ports (more like TV stations)
Most routers have ports up to port 1024 which means some of the iChat Login Ports are above this.
Two ways to Solve this.
1) Change the Login port iChat uses
2) Change the way the router opens ports.
For 1) go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
Highlight/select the AIM account.
In the Info Tab deselect the "Enable this Account" to make sure you are Logged out.
In the Server Settings change the Port to 443
You can decide not to use SSL as well if you wish (the server name automatically loses the leading "s")
For 2) log in to the routers set up pages and make sure it is doing UPnP
This allows the computers to tell the router which ports to open. It also allows multiple devices to use the same ports.
For iChat this allows it to Screen Share as this happens on an unlisted random port.
Opps forgot a couple of things.
If you are using an APple ID registed at Apple ending in @mac.com @me.com or @iCloud.com then the passowrd at Apple has to be 16 characters or less to work with the AIM servers.
Additionally the iCloud issued @me.com and @iCloud.com one require you to use iChat 6 in Lion or Messages in Mountian Lion due to changes Apple made to the security of letting AIM "read" the passwords.

I am having the same problem and took the following steps to mitigate it to no avail.
1. I deleted the Facebook app on the phone and turned off Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings.
2. I re-enabled Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings and reinstalled the Facebook app and logged in again. It worked. For about an hour.
3. I completely restored the phone to a previous backup (before the problems started) and reenabled Facebook .... reinstalled the app.... and now it works intermittenly. But it hasn't worked in about 12 hours now (just tried a few minutes ago).
Please advise.

How to uninstall/delete facebook and related content: Logged in using wrong account

Hi everyone. Before I had a chance, my wife logged into her facebook account using the facebook app on my Z10. Now all of her facebook contacts have been imported into my phone as well as all of her notifications appear in the Hub. I've tried:
1) logging out of facebook and logging back in, but my phone seem to be permanently connected to her account (I do not have the option of changing accounts)
2) Searching where these settings are stored on my phone to no avail
3) uninstalling the facebook app: but her messages still appear in the Hub
I want to:
1) Delete all contacts that were inported by facebook
2) Delete my wife's facebook settings on my phone.
Please help. This is more than just a bit annoying.

After 1 day, my wife's facebook account finally appeared until settings>accounts, where I was able to delete it. A few minutes later, my z10 started to cleaned up my contacts list for me. Strange.

Can't Send Attachments Using Exchange Account

For some reason I can't send attachments using my Exchange account on my iPhone. Pictures, Word docs, Excel Docs, doesn't matter. They just get stuck in my out box and I get the following message, "Cannot Send Mail - An error occurred while delivering this message." I can receive attachments just fine, but cannot send or forward them. If I use any of the other email accounts on my phone, it works fine. The Exchange account is the only issue. Is this some limitation with Exchange on an iPhone or something? Anyone ever have the same problem as was able to fix it? Thanks!

I've got 38 iPhones deployed running the 3.1.2 OS against an Exchange 2007 server. Several of my users complain about the same issue, and I've seen it myself. I have found a workaround of sorts - I've found that if I've sent a message with an attachment and I get a failure to send, if I manually browse down to the Sent Items folder, that forces a replication of the Sent Items. The next time I do a manual sync, the e-mail with the attachment will go.
I presume this has something to do with Exchange trying to put a copy of the e-mail in to your Sent Items at the same time the iPhone is trying to send the message.
Potentially, this might be solved by turning off the option to always store your sent e-mails in the Sent Items. I have not yet tested that as a workaround as from a corporate standpoint and an ease-of-use standpoint, we want that e-mail in the Sent Items for reference.
If anyone has any success with this fix, please let me know.

My children have iphones, ipads, ipods and mac books, my problem is how do you use home sharing with the devices and not get each others data. My Husband just added his iphone to the account and got all of my daughters contacts. I understand they could have there own accounts but if i buy music on itunes and both children want the same song, I don't feel i should have to pay for it twice. Is there away we can have home sharing on the devices and they can pick and choose what they want? and is this icloud going to make it harder to keep their devices seperate?

How can I move most used mail accounts to appear at the top of the list when I open my mail app?

I have updated iPhone4 to IOS7 and now my mail accounts are in new order. I have several accounts but a few that need to be the most visible. Not sure how iPhone mail app is sorting them but it sorting it but definitely not alphabetically or by most used. Anyway, I finally figured out how to reorder them to suit me and, since help wasn't found on forum, thought I'd share:
Open Mail App, then use "Edit" from top right. You'll see a 3-bar icon to the right of each mail account. Use it to slide accounts up/down to where you want them. Works also for any Gmail accounts you might have.

cor-el, thanks for the tip. While I certainly scoured Adobe's preference settings to look for something relating to that exact thing, I never went to their help site until I got your post. I found out that the floating toolbar appears because the PDF opens in'' Read Mode'', which you can turn off for all future documents by doing this:
* Quit your internet browser
* Launch Acrobat (or Reader)
* Choose Edit>Preferences
* Click on the Internet category on the left
* Deselect “Display in Read Mode by default”
* Click the OK button.
* Relaunch Acrobat
Something important to note, if you have both Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader, you need to do the above in both programs (same steps).

Can't send messages using pop account

I can’t send mail with some of my pop accounts using mail app. I have a .mac and a Yahoo account both work perfect. The other POP accounts don’t send. I get an error that says, “Cannot send message using the Server xxxxxxx” I check the setting and they are fine. It stop working a couple of days ago. I didn’t make any changes on the accounts settings.

I had the same problem until I called Earthlink support – it's your ISP's problem not yours. They will help you open a new POP account and set a new port (in the advanced option in preferences) to authorize your ability to send mail. I have no idea whether Yahoo is as helpful as Earthlink. They may not be because they're free.

I can't log in using password. Each time I enter the log in box comes back unpopulated with my password.

I can't log in to the Imac. Each time I enter my password it is initially accepted then the screen reverts to the log in dialogue box again withhout being populated by the password entered.

Do you have FileVault turned on? People have posted it is requiring a double login.

Can not create or use an account in Music Store

I have tried every which way to create an account for the Music Store -- both via Apple and AOL Wallet, credit card and PayPal, but I can't seem to convince Music Store that I have an account at sign in time.
Everytikme I try to Sign In, I get shuffled off to the Apple site to fill out forms that dead end after I fill them all out.
Can anyone help here? Is Music Store service staff online here?

What country are you in? Signing up has always been pretty straight-forward, so something must be confused.

Found this after searching these discussions for over an hour, and it really works, but you MUST create a new account, don't edit your existing one. Very quick & easy!!! Here you go, courtesy of Guillermo Toro-Lira:
OK guys, problem solved, at least for those with a dotMac account like me.
You have to create a new MobileMe account in your iPhone using your new MobileMe email address ( [email protected] instead of [email protected] ).
Select Add Account... on Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then MobileMe, enter your name, MobileMe address, password and description and select Save. The system will validate your account first. Then go back to Accounts, select your dotMac account and select delete. Your new mails, contacts, calendars will be sync'd by your new MobileMe account.
It looks like iPhone classic 2.0 requires your new MobileMe address ([email protected]) to send emails.

I accessed my .Mac account with the iPhone's mail client with my first generation iPhone for over a year including for a while after the change to MM before I purchased my iPhone 3G.
The first generation iPhone and the iPhone 3G are capable of running the same firmware so there is no difference between the two in this regard. To say the first generation iPhone requires creating and accessing the @Me account instead of the @Mac account is incorrect.
If this is true with many, how come not a single person has chimed in with this thread saying the same thing?

Can not logon using akype account on Samsung Smart...

Just updated Skype on my Samsung smart TV. Now i can't logon. Error is incorrect password. Checked with windows 7 and windows 8. I can log on using microsoft account, but TV wants skype name. Seems there was a similar problem a year ago. Is this problem back?

At the moment you can only sign in to Skype on the Samsung TV using a Skype Name. If you normally sign in to Skype on another device using a Microsoft Account (which is in the format of an email address), then you cannot sign in on the Samsung TV using the Microsoft Account at the moment.
The easiest solution for now, is to create a new Skype account for use on the TV - you can do this on the TV itself by selecting the 'create an account' option on the main Skype menu.

Blue Screen - Can't Log on to my Account

Suddenly, I cannot log on to my Mac - G4 Tower - OSX 10.4.7. When I switch it on, all I get is a blue screen - after the "starting MAC OS X" box and the spinning gear. The Mac is set up so that my account automatically logs on but nothing happens - the screen flashes and the spinning gear re-appears frequently but I cannot log on. I have started in single user mode and run fcsk -fy; but this had made no difference.
I have started in SAFE MODE and can log on using another account (Supervisor) but when I try to log on to my account, I return to the log on screen which still says SAFE MODE.
From the Supervisor account I cannot access the Login items for my own account, so I'm not sure how I can check them and remove anything I think is causing the problem.
I'm beginning to think that my account is corrupted in some way but really have no idea what to do next. Can anyone help please?

do you mean you went through the steps i suggested, or all the ones in the article? if you went through all the steps in the article, and it still isn't working, you should archive and install your operating system. this should allow you to access your account again. steps for the archive are outlined here. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120. make sure you repair the disk beforehand with disk utility, and run software updates afterwards to bring the operating system up to the current version, or things may not work properly. you will have to reinstall any third party software. It is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.

TS1292 I have lost my redeem code for my account balance. How can I use my account balance for purchases?

I have an account balance in the Itunes store. When I try to purchase a book by redeeming part of this balance, the system asks for a Redeem Code.
I do not have one, nor do I remember ever establishing such a code. The balance arises from entering a number of previous gift cards which I no longer have. What can I do to use my account balance?

Once you redeem an iTunes card or gift certificate you no longer need the code. If you see a credit balance in your iTunes Store account, just go ahead and buy what you want. As long as it's not a gift for someone else, the cost will be automatically deducted from your balance.
