Can't login to Gmail using "Parallels"

Hey,
I'm using the latest version of Parallels desktop (5608) and I'm experiencing problems with using the internet with it. There are certain sites/applications that their connection attempt seems to be blocked.
Gmail is one example (can't log-in to my account), Windows Update is another one.
All problems disappear when booting from the BootCamp partition (same as the Parallels partition, but using a dual-boot).
I should probably also mention that it has been like that for me with all versions of Parallels. This is not a problem with the latest version.

I can't login to Gmail. It says cookies are turned of, but they ARE turned on. I have tried everything, including reinstalling firefox, but nothing helps.

I have the same problem and to get it to work I have gone into Tools, Options, Privacy, Show Cookies and deleted all cookies, then go to the Advanced tab, find Cached Web Content and click the Clear Now button. After you cleared the Cache restart Firefox and it works normal, but only for so long, in my case 1 day, then I had to do it over again. This has been happening since I went from Firefox 16 to Firefox 17.

I can not open PDFs while using Parallels

My boss recently bought me an iMac and since our company is on Windows I have to use the software for Parallels so I can run both Windows and Mac. The problem I ran into today was I can not open any PDFs on either the Windows or Mac side. The error message that appears says: Distiller can not run fils with the extension PDF or JFD. I have never heard of a Mac having issues opening PDFs so I am at a loss.

I use Parallels with no problems creating PDFs with CS products running in Windows (XP SP3) or in OS X 10.6.8, and no problems opening them with Acrobat or Reader on either OS, regardless of whether they were made under the same OS as the opening application.
How are you opening the PDFs? Double clicking or right-clicking on them in Finder or Windows Explorer, or by using File > Place in a CS product on either OS, or by using File > Open in Acrobat or Reader in either OS?
If the problem exists when trying to open in Acrobat or Reader with File > Open or double clicking in Finder or Windows Explorer, it's definitely not an ID problem.
If you're using File > Open in ID, this is your problem, because ID can only place (import) PDFs, not open them.
Have you tried closing Windows and then trying to open a PDF on Mac? What results? (NOTE: you can leave Parallels running or close it, too.)
As Peter S. notes, there may be a problem in which application is set to open PDFs. You can find out by right clicking a PDF in Mac Finder, and lookiing under Open With - the default application is stated there. I believe it will show Windows applications used by Parallels, like Distiller on the Windows side, but I'm not sure if Parallels needs to be running or not. If files with PDF extension do not have a Acrobat, Reader, or PDF icon in Finder or Windows Explorer, then the PDF extension isn't correct for the actual file, or the file's corrupted.
Can the files be opened by another user on another computer; i.e., are you the only one with the problem? If so, create a new user account on your computer, and try to open the PDF. If this works, then the problem may be due to incorrect permission settings.
Search Google for terms like "windows create new user account," "mac OS create new user account," "windows associating files with applications," "mac associating files with applications," "InDesign place pdf," and "parallels windows mac file associations," without quotes, for links to resources on this Adobe site, as well as across the Web.

Can't log into Gmail using Mac Mail client

Wow, after upgrading Lion for iCloud and upgrading my iPad2 for IOS5, I can no longer get Gmail on either one using Mac Mail as the client. I get a little triangular caution symbol next to the Gmail account in Mac Mail. I tried deleting the account and recreating it, and when the account setup wizard tries to connect, I get the following:
"Logging in to the Google IMAP server "imap.gmail.com" failed. Make sure the username and password you entered are correct then click Continue. If the information isn't correct, you cannot receive messages"
This doesn't make any sense, since the account has always worked in the past. Simultaneous to that, I have started having the same problem on the iPad, which never had trouble logging in before either.
Anybody else encountering this?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Can't login to gmail 503 80104: System is unavailable to support the request message

Won't let me do anything on the phone - have to login to gmail and get the above message. Gmail works fine on the computer. Brand new phone - 24 hrs old.

I ran into this problem trying to set up a second Yahoo email address through the system client on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Here's what solved it for me. I doubt all these steps are necessary, maybe only the last one, but here's how it worked for me.
I cleared the cache and the data (which cleared out my still-working first Yahoo account), restarted the phone, tried setting up the second Yahoo account again, but it still didn't work.
So then I tried setting up the first Yahoo email again. That worked fine (again).
So I tried the second Yahoo account again. Still didn't work.
Then, for whatever reason, I tried setting up the second Yahoo account again but instead of choosing "Yahoo" as the account type, I chose "Others". Bingo. It worked just fine.
Out of curiosity, I really want to try setting up the second account again using "Yahoo" as the type to see what happens, but I don't want to rock the boat. I'm just happy it's working.

Can't login to datamover using PS id

Hi,
I am in middle of installation PT8.5 and PSHRMS 8.8. So far, have installed the 8.8 database and now I am at point where I need to login to datamover using 'PS' and run few dms scripts. But, when I try login to DM using PS user id, I am getting the error "invalid user name or password".. I tried resetting the PS pwd thru update to PSACCESSPRFL table and then executing encrypt_password PS in datamover.. still the same error message.
Please suggest how to pass along the message.

PROBLEM SOLVED
Here are the steps I took.
First did the reset of PS password in PSOPRDEFN:
UPDATE PSOPRDEFN
SET OPERPSWD = 'PS'
, ENCRYPTED = 0
WHERE OPRID = 'PS'
Commit;
Then, logged into datamover using sysadm account and executed the procedure.. ENCRYPT_PASSWORD PS;
Still the issue existed, I was not able to login to Datamover using PS/PS password.
After, I resetted the accessid/pwd in PSACCESSPRFL
UPDATE PSACCESSPRFL
set ACCESSID = 'SYSADM',
OPERPSWD = '<passwd>' (the one I use to login to datamover/app designer)
, ENCRYPTED = 0
WHERE SYMBOLICID = 'SYSADM1';
Commit;
Then, logged into datamover using sysadm account and executed the procedure.. ENCRYPT_PASSWORD *;
and now, the issue was solved.. I am login to datamover using PS/PS id as a normal user.

Can't login to GMail from any browser

My daughter is visiting me and she has a Gmail account. She went to log into her account using my Powerbook and was told that cookies were not enabled, which is/was not the case. I tried Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb and Mozilla, and for each of them she got the same error message that cookies were not enabled. I had checked the cookie settings in each browser to make sure cookies were enabled before my daughter tried logging in. I don't use Gmail myself, so I have no experience with it. I have no problems logging into the Google Earth forums - the only Google product I use that requires a login.

My daughter ended up connecting using my son's Windows machine which is on the same network and behind the same firewall/router as my Mac. Google sees the ip address assigned to us by our isp and not the ip addresses of the individual computers on the network.
She also says she had no problems connecting from my brother-in-law's Mac out on the left coast.
She has since hooked her portable windows machine into the network and is having no problems with her computer.
This is the first time I have run up against a site that I am having absolutely no luck with, however, as I don't plan on using Gmail and there are other options, solving this problem is more a case of curiosity and wanting to know what is going on.

I have a favourite site where you must be registered to post. I have never had problems there before. All of a sudden, it asked me to login on Monday. That happens periodically but the problem was, after I enter my email and password I get a 404 message

what can I do or what have I done?
I have been reading here, looking for ways to get rid of that silly spinning beachballs and have taken some of the advice.

yes I have asked them and of course their standard non mac answer is that we don't support the use of mac and can't help you. Copout! They don't have an answer for the fact that it had previously been running just fine on my mac. Will have to open the dreaded IE if I want to post. More of the microsoft monopoly!

I am using Windows 7, Firefox 3.6 for my gmail. I had no problem printing from my gmail account until Firefox updated to 3.6. Now when I try to print, I get a message "Unknown Print Error Occurred" and nothing will print. I cannot print from the "File" list either. However, I can print from IE 8. Is Firefox aware of this issue?

I'm trying to sign in to lync using my live email account but can't do so.
If I use skype I can send an IM with the lync contacts that I know but they can't add me in a group conversation or conference. Is it possible to join a conference with lync users using my skype/live account?

You can't use a personal email account (MSN/Gmail/etc..) to sign into the Lync client. You

New Computer and can't login to iChat using my mac ID

I left the settings at default, put in my mac ID and tried to connect. It says it's connecting for about a minute then it just shows disconnected without any message, or reason why.

You say Mac ID rather than Apple ID.
iChat can use names that are valid with AIM
These include Apple ID ending in @mac.com and @me.com (As well as AIM registered names)
However the @me.com ones could be issued via MobileMe and may not be current/active.
iCloud isssued @me.com ones should be active. (They will not work in ichat 5 or earlier)
Jabber (Includes Google and Facebook) IDs also work.
With older versions of iChat the Logging in port for the AIM Servers was port 5190 and this is above the port 1024 threshold and if you opened it previously in your router it may be pointing to an IP you current computer does not have.
However this should not effect you in iChat 6 (the Login port is 443)

parallels 3.x installs fine, But im trying to install xp from the cdrom, and it's been on the screen for over an hour... "setup will complete in about 39 minutes"....
seems nothing is installing... its just sitting there....

There were some problems with earlier builds and Leopard.
Current build is 5608 and can be downloaded from Parallels website.

Can't login to iChat using Netgear WGR614 router

I'm on an iBook G4 running 10.4.7. I just set up wireless with a Netgear WGR614 wireless router. I can connect to the Internet fine, but when I try to login to my AIM account through iChat, I'm immediately disconnected.
The Netgear folks told me to set up a port forwarding service for AIM like this:
Start port: 5190
End port: 5194
IP: 192.168.1.4
That didn't work, and they told me I'm on my own. Then I tried to set it up as suggested for iChat on portforward.com:
Start port: 5190
End port: 5190
IP: 192.168.1.4
Start port: 4099
End port: 4099
IP: 192.168.1.4
Start port: 5193
End port: 5193
IP: 192.168.1.4
This also didn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I'm feeling so frustrated right now. Thanks in advance!

Okay, now it's being really weird. When I got home and switched back onto my network a few minutes ago, poof, iChat worked just fine. I wanted to make sure the problem was actually gone, and it wasn't just a fluke, so I logged out and tried to log back in — but no! Same problem as before, immediate disconnection. Just now, I logged into iChat through the wifi from next door, then I switched back to my network, and it automatically logged me in again, no problem. What is happening? Why the inconsistency? What do I need to do to make it always work?
I'm confused.
