Can't open ANY photos in Photoshop CS3

I cannot open any photos from my iPhoto or Aperture in Photoshop. When I attempt to do it, the images refresh and then it crashes, asking me to send an error report. When I click on an image that I want to open, the OPEN tab in the bottom right corner does not highlight either or allow me to click on it. This has been happening for over 10 tries.
I did delete my preferences as suggested by another user but no luck.  Please help!!

No, she means going in the blue Apple menu > system preferences, going to the accounts pane, and creating a new user there. Then log in as that user and see if the error persists. If it doesn't then it was something corrupt in your account.

  • I cannot open any photo in Photoshop CC 2014 after upgrade the application and drivers of video-card.

Since I have made an upgrade of Photoshop CC 2014 I got a lot of problems.
At first, I could not open any pictures in Photoshop. It works only if I disable "Use Graphic processor". I installed a new driver for my video-card, but it did not help. I use AMD FirePro V4800 for 10-bit colour.
I had to return the system to the restore point (before the upgrade), then it worked somehow, but not stable. ACR from time to time had a blue screen with a white cross.
Now I tried to install drivers for my video-card again, but it resulted in the same issue: Photoshop cannot open any photo. (Other converters and editors and also a new Lightroom work well).
I use Win7x64, i7 2600, 16 Gb RAM, two SSD's, AMD FirePro V4800. I have never had any problems before the upgrade. And I do not want to reinstall Photoshop because I would have to reinstall a lot of plug-ins, I have already lost a whole day.

    Glad it's not just me!
Interestingly, when I spoke with Apple, I tried it in a new user account and the problem went away. Apple said to speak to Adobe which I have done and after deleting settings/prefs again the problem remained. Adobe say as it's fine in a new account then it's an Apple issue not Adobe.
I did find a workaround for now though, when using file - open, set it to list view instead of column view - this fixed my problem but sadly I'm used to working in column view so it's not ideal!
I also got the same error message when trying to replace a set of brushes yesterday too. I need to go back to Apple now but just need to schedule some time to sit and troubleshoot!

  • I can't open any of my photoshop files, but Photoshop itself opens?

I recently dowloaded photoshop CC and a week or two later now I can't open any of my files? I can't create new ones either?

  • Lightroom 5 can't open any photos prior to mid 2010!!

    Hi everyone,
Today, while browsing through my Lightroom catalog  looking for some older images, I noticed that LR5 could not open any images (NEF, CR2, JPG, TIFF, etc.) from mid 2010 and prior! The error message only says: "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo. You will not be able to make adjustments to the photo." !!! The thumbnails are all blank!
I was very surprised as I haven't used any other image editting sw for the last I don't know how many years. I wonder if anyone has come across a situation like this? If so, are there any ways to reclaim these images. I have some precious photos of my mother before she passed away and don't want to lose them an any cost.
It seems all these files are somehow corrupted. The only thing I can think of is when I switched over to LR5 and the image catalog was updated, something in the process went wrong, though can't be 100% sure. I did try to open the files in a separate viewer (non adobe) but that also failed. I'm using a Macbook Pro with the latest OSX (Mavericks). The images are on an external encrypted drive. From 2010 onward, there are no issues and everything is available.
Any help/suggestions will be much appreciated.
    Thank you

Did you by any chance update to Mavericks in the mean time? Mavericks had some corruption issues with external hard drives if you are using the drive manufacturer's software. The safest thing to do with an external drive, regardless of whether you are on windows or Mac, is to reformat the harddrive when you get it using the native tools in the OS to the OS' native filesystem and to NEVER install the manufacturer's software as it is invariably extremely bad. The fact that your other software cannot read the files either tells me this is a hard drive corruption issue likely. Lightroom does not touch the original files so that likely has nothing to do with Lightroom.

  • Unable to open CR2 photos in Photoshop CS3.

I am unable to open some very important wedding CR2 files in Photoshop CS3. What specific updates do I need to fix this? The raw photoUns were shot on a Canon 70D. The photos were shot in low lighting so I shot in a large format that I don't typically use. I feel that I have tried several updates available through Adobe but have been unsuccessful.

The DNG converter that I have is 8.7. I will re-download the 8.2 and see if that helps.
No, no, no!  Don't do that.    Older versions don't even support your camera.
The DNG Converter does not work on files, it won't even see them.  It works only on FOLDERS.  Do not point it at the files but at the FOLDER(s) that contain said files.

  • Can't open any files in Photoshop Elements 9 and 11

I have Photoshop Elements 9 and 11, and right now I cannot open any files at all in either one. I keep getting this same error message every time: "Your request cannot be completed because the file format module cannot parse the file". Anybody have any ideas about what's up with this? I have an iMac running MAC OS-X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.

    CheekyBugger,
As you are using Photoshop Elements, and this is the Photoshop>General Discussions (PsElements' "big-brother"), I would normally Move this post. However, I know that you now have a post on the same issue, in the Photoshop Elements Forum (Moved from Premiere Elements), so I will just Lock this thread. Please continuse to troubleshoot your "Cannot Parse... " issue in the other thread, in the PsElements Forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1405398?tstart=0
    Good luck,

  • Suddenly Can't Open RAW files in Photoshop CS3!

I have never had troubles with photoshop before, but since I installed windows 7 and reinstalled CS3, Photoshop is no longer able to open camera raw files! When I attempt to open one a window pops up stating: Could not complete your request because it is not the right type of document. What on earth is going on?! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you

Thats Correct. First check if there are two versions or not if there is, then it would be better to delete them and re-download it from this link
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4038&fileID=3755
After the download unzip the files and then copy the Camera raw.8bi in this location
    >>> C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats
PS ::  Use Program Files and Program Files(X86) according to your computer.

  • I can't open raw photos in Photoshop 5.1 coming from my nikon7100... is there a solution?

When I try to open a raw file produced by my Nikon D70100, I get this message from my Photoshop CS5.1
"Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw".
Does anyone know what to do???

The D7100 requires Camera Raw plug-in version 7.4 or higher.  Your CS5.x can only host up to ACR 6.something so you either need to buy a payfor upgrade to a newer version of PS (CS6 or CC) or use the free DNG Converter to make DNGs from your NEFs and open the DNGs in an older version of PS/ACR.
The DNG Converter can be found, here:
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
The cheapest option for PS-CC is the Photography Bundle for $10/month:

    CS6 is still available, here:

  • Can't open any photo files to Elements11 / Windows7

    Tried -open
    Tried - file, open
    tried open pulldown & drag
Tried changing format from all formats to jpeg
Recently calibrated my display .  This should cause toe problem shoud it?

I updated from within the Adobe Reader X program (Help > Check for Updates) and it tells me: No updates available. Installed: Adober Reader X (10.1.8) MUI
Is 11.0.5 something I would have to access another way?
Also, I'm still not sure if that would fix my problem. It seems most people with the "Access Denied" error had it fixed with the very first 10.1 update, and I have 10.1.8, so I'm not sure what's causing mine.

  • Can not open any files CS5  Win 7 64 bit

I can not open any files in Photoshop.  I can open them in Bridge or LR.  If I open a file in Camera Raw and try to go to Photoshop, PS opens and just sits there and looks at me as if I opened the program only.

Is this a new installation that has never worked, or is this a problem that has cropped up recently?
In any case, there are two things you can do that between them have a very good chance of getting things working for you.
    1.  As a diagnostic, click Edit - Preferences - Performance, and uncheck (disable) the [ ] Enable OpenGL Drawing setting, then close and reopen Photoshop.  If this corrects the problem, then chances are good that your display driver needs to be updated.  To do so, go to the web site of the maker of your video card (e.g., nVidia or ATI) and follow the links to the driver download that matches your hardware and operating system.  When you've updated the driver and rebooted your system, re-enable the OpenGL Drawing setting (remembering to close and restart Photoshop) then re-test.
    2.  Clear all Photoshop preferences to standard defaults.  To do this, press and hold the Control, Shift, and Alt keys IMMEDIATELY after cold-starting Photoshop from its shortcut or menu entry.  If you're quick enough, it will prompt you.  You'll need to go through all the preferences again to ensure any customizations you want are re-done.
    Hope this helps!

  • I can not open my photo, opened in lightroom, in photoshop CS4. Plug-in camera raw is missing

I can not open my photo, opened in lightroom, in photoshop CS4. a plug-in camera raw  xx is missing. Advice to update does not work. There is no plug-in in the map photoshop plug-ins.

This is expected. CS4 will never be able to open files from a current version of LR and a modern camera.

Has actualizado el OSX a 10.9 ?, funcionaba antes? La versión de Photoshop es la CC, no la CC 2014?
En el menú de Ayuda>Actualizaciones, cual es el resultado, dice que esta al día?
