Can't open any work docs using pages.
Whenever i try and open a word document using pages 09 it says that "The document “223lectureslides.docx” couldn’t be opened." this happens with all documents including power point. This is really a problem because i am unable to view any assignments i have.

Don't forget that TeachText can open .DOC files. There's another thread involving .DOC files here which might give you some guidance on how to troubleshoot the problem.
Also, PowerPoint documents can be saved in a play only format (they aren't editable) and I'm not sure if those can be opened by Keynote. These have PPS and PPSX extenders if I recall properly.

Can't open Apple Works docs in Pages
Strange, but: The 1st day I used Pages I could open Apple Works and Word docs
just fine. The 2nd day trying to open Apple Works docs resulted in
the message: "Import Error- the Apple Works document has an unsupported file type"
Word docs still open OK. Anyone?To save as a "newer" AppleWorks file (i.e. AppleWorks 6 file format), you'll need to have AppleWorks 6, which will open older file formats from version 5 and then give you the option to save the as version 6 files.
However, your friend will not be able to open these AppleWorks files with Pages: as Peggy and others have pointed out on numerous occasions, Pages can only open AppleWorks word processing files (and even in this case, there are restrictions; as far as I can remember, it will only open documents with floating graphics. Or was it the other way round, and it cannot open files with floating graphics? If I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me, Peggy); it can't open spreadsheet files as iWork '05 doesn't have a spreadsheet program which could handle the data. I'd suggest finding someone who has AppleWorks 6 (anyone with a Mac mini, iMac or eMac), opening the files and saving them in a format which Excel can read. -
I can't open any of my Groups pages on Facebook, just my Newsfeed,mobile using Safari (on my Ipad). But they open using Chrome. This just started happening, as it was working fine for months.
Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that didn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Setting
Restart your iPad.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, then swipe the slider to power off.
Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
No data is lost due to a rest -
My Macbook pro came with snow leopard. I decided to upgrade to lion so I could use cloud. Now I can't open any word doc. that I receive in emails. Is there any way to remedy this?
You don't tell us what version of Office for Mac you presently have, but I'm guessing it might be Office for Mac 2004. If so, in addition to the suggestion to download OpenOffice you can purchase the most recent version of Office for Mac 2011 directly from MS <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/buy>. You can also purchase Pages productivity suite from the Mac App Store <http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pages/id409201541?mt=12>.

I have Pages 09' and I have installed/updated to Pages 5.1 (when my computer initially asked if I wanted to update) - Now I can't open any of my older documents? Prior to this, I would open documents and it would be the 09' version. Then I would open documents and it would ask to be updated to the new version, even though it looked like the new version anyway. I would say yes, and that would be the end of it. So when I try to open up a document, it asks me to go to the ap store and update to the new version of pages, so when I go to the ap store, it says it's already installed/updated. What do it do?
You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

I can not open any documents in Numbers / Pages iOS
Good evening! I bought Numbers, and Pages. But both applications do not work. I can not open documents. And do not open a blank document of the programs themselves. The same situation was on the iPhone 4s and two iPhone 5 Please help ... Following the crash of both programs

Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
You might also consider deleting and reinstalling the programs.

How can I open AppleWorks 6 files using Pages or Word?
I am currently running Mac OS X v.10.4.11, but I am turning in my old mac for a new one in about a week. Almost all of my important files are AppleWorks 6 files and my new mac will not have this program since it has been replaced with Pages. I currently have AppleWorks 6, Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac, and Pages 08 on my old mac. I am unsure as to what applications I will have on my new mac (I am a teacher and the macs are school computers so I do not have control over the software), but I think it will have both Word 2008 and Pages 08 or 09. So far I have not had any luck opening my AppleWorks files in Pages or Word. I have been able to copy and paste the AppleWorks files into Pages (they are mostly Draw documents, not simple word processing), but they become an image so I cannot edit the content. I need to be able to edit my documents on my new computer and do not have time to open each AppleWorks file and copy it to Pages anyway. Any suggestions to help me with this compatibility problem?
AppleWorks will run fine on your new Mac, though if you transfer it from the old one you should delete it from there to stay within the terms of the licence. You would need to copy the Appleworks folder over, not just the application.
Pages can open Appleworks 6 word processing documents, Numbers can open Appleworks 6 spreadsheets. It's possible to open AW Draw documents in Eazydraw, or in Pages through a workaround. Nothing will open AW Database documents.

How do I open a word doc using Pages?
I am new to Macs and I have no idea how to open a word document in Pages. I really do not want to keep Windows or Word on the mac so if there is any way to keep Windows off my computer please help.

If you want to always open Word documents with Pages, you can set OS X to do that. Highlight a known Word document in the Finder, highlight it & choose Get Info from the File menu. In the Get Info box, click the triangle next to "Open With." Click on this drop-down menu & choose Pages. If Pages is not a choice, choose "Other" & navigate to the Pages application. Now click the "Change" button under the text that asks if you want to open all documents like this with Pages. You can then double-click the Word documents & they will open in Pages. Note that the icon for the Word files will have a plain, white icon. -

I can't open any pages document
My associate hasn't executed an apple update in some time. I typically do. For over a month, he can't open any Pages doucment I send him.
Last night, I did an apple Update for pages that Apple had been requesting I do for about a month. Now, I can't open any of my own pages documents in 4.3 or 5.0.1. Documents I created yesterady I can't open. I'm infuriated with Apple as every recommended update seems to trigger something else to not work as intended. ThanksSince you have already updated to Pages 5.2 on your Mac, you have two versions of Pages on your Mac & are trying to open Pages 5 documents with Pages 4. Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there then right-click on the Dock icon & select Options > Keep in Dock.
Installing new versions of iWork has never replaced existing versions. This is nothing new. The only thing new is that the '09 apps are moved to an iWork '09 folder if they were purchased from the Mac App Store. If they were installed from disk they should already be in a separate folder in Applications. -

How can I open a Word document using Pages 09 please? I am trying to open Word documents from a CD using both trying to open in Pages, nd dragging and dropping into the Pages icon in the dock. It tells me, every time, thast the document cannot be opened.
What happens if you open it in TextEdit or LibreOffice [free]?

i can't open video file in the page , i download and install flash many time but don't work , i use Firefox 5 and windows 7
My current version of Chrome is having problems, too! It's so annoying. Anyone have any suggestions now? I basically can't view or download any PDFs because of this.
Does anyone else think this is a problem not only with Adobe? I would think Apple would have something to do with this? Wouldn't they get some idea from the developer versions that no browser can open PDFs while running Lion!? Pretty bad customer service on the part of a company that prides itself on being VERY customer-friendly. Wouldn't you say? -
I just updated my IOS to 7.1 and now I can't open Microsoft attachments - I used to always do it. Help - I use my iPad for work and now can't see any attachments. I've tried opening straight into other apps and just get error messages, and I the mail preview there is just a grey screen telling me the file name and size. It worked fine until I did the IOS upgrade

After change to Mavericks my Mac become too slow e I can't use it because stays asking passwords for "talagent" and "messages agent" as icloud keys. I got changed the icloud password many times and still doesn't work. I can't open any program.
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.
