Can't open links in Mail 1.2.5 from Mac OS X 10.2.8

If I select an HTML link in an e-mail message, nothing happens. I am using Mail 1.2.5 (v553) on an iMac with 10.2.8 including all software updates. My default browser is Safari 1.0.3 (v85.8.1). Selecting an HTML link when I use Entourage opens the link in Safari, but I prefer to keep using Mail. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

I've chosen the 'Buy Book' option but it informs me that my Apple ID does not support 1-Click purchases.
1-click is now called "Express Checkout".
Check your AppleID settings and enable "Express Checkout" for your Apple ID at the Apple Store.. You can do this right from this web page.
Look at the black title bar at the top of this page. There is a store menu to the left. Click it to open the page of the Apple Store. On the next page click the head icon to the left of the shopping cart to open the settings for your account. There you can enable the Express Checkout settings at the link "Update Express Checkout Settings".

  • Can't open  links/hyperlinks in my mails....

Maybe its not the right forum, but I havn't been able to find help elsewhere. I'm using Outlook for Mac 2011 but can't open  links/hyperlinks in my mails. The cursor turns into a hand as expected, but nothing happens when I try to activate the link. My default browser is Safari. Please help if anyone can..

    Hi janjkp,
I don't use Outlook so I cannot test anything here.
Is Outlook the only application that this occurs?
If it is only Outlook, I would suggest that its a setting or bug in Outlook causing the issue.
Instead of just clicking on the link, try Command (or right) Click and see if there is an 'Open Link' or 'Open URL' selection in the contextual menu.
If you can open the link that way, see if there is a setting in the preferences in Outlook that stops links being opened.
    Hope this helps

  • Can't open links in Skype, WLM nor saved HTML (Firefox won't respond)

"I can't open links in Skype chat windows when having a Firefox session running in the background, it just flashes the window borders. If i close Firefox and leftclick on the links Firefox automatically opens the link but not while having a session running in the background. Strange thing while having clicked the link and started a new Firefox session it opens the tabs as usual while clicking the links the next few times but closing Firefox again and restarting it and then click on links in Skype window, it doesn't respond. I have to bring the context menu and then choose copy adress."
I see there is no answer for the problem that guy have had and I have the same problem - links from skype and from windows live mail won't open and there's more - FF doesn't open html files that are saved to pc, even thou I just saved em, but when I click on em happens nothing and when I rightclick and choose open with FF happens nothing.
It worked for couple of weeks with no problem and suddenly today links just make skype flash exactly as in christianhbergs description and in windows live mail they are becoming purple but firefox doesn't react.
as soon as I make IE as my default - links are working, but not with firefox.
So I assume the problem is in firefox (not in skype or WLM nor in Win8)
    (running Win8 and FF25.0)
And none of the solutions you gave us in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/961242#answer-497345 work.

  • "open links behind mail" feature doesn't work

Since migrating to Yosemite, I can no longer  use "open links behind mail" feature.
The links do open directly to Safari or Chrome on top of mail.
But the "Open links behind mail" won't launch, regardless if the browser is open or not. I see it, it clicks, but nada... nothing ;-(
This feature always worked before migrating to Yosemite.
    Any suggestions?

  • Open links behind mail

Since migrating to Yosemite, I can no longer  use "open links behind mail" feature.  Apparently this is a bug and I see complaints about it going back to Oct 2013 at least.  Does anyone know if Apple EVER fixed this problem?

Bad syntax on my part. It's the right click Contextual menu. But I use it so much it's a shortcut for me, Sorry for the improper terminology.
No problem. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I thought that maybe the problem was a missing shortcut which I was unaware of. I have the contextual menu, and it works. If there was a shortcut, I didn't have it and thought that maybe that was what everybody is having a problem with.
Do you have the contextual menu item? Or does it just not work? I've seen some posts where the contextual menu is missing altogether.

  • I am unable to "open link behind mail" using Mac Mail now. It used to work fine, and just clicking works but not right clicking to open behind mail. Please help

This used to work on my Mac using Firefox and Mac Mail but now it doesn't. Opening regular links are unaffected. I can still click and open easily. This only happens when I try to use the feature, to open links behind mail. When I right click nothing happens. Nothing is opened.

    Hi GetPaulHoward,
Thank you for posting your question to the SUMO support forum, however I am not sure this pretains to Mozilla. There is a help forum you can contact at Apple.

  • I can't open links in firefox. I must drag them to the tool bar or right click and open in a new page

I am running Vista and installed a new version of firefox yesterday plus I messed around with trying to block some obnoxious advertising pop up windows. Now I can't open links and must drag them to the browser bar or right click and "open in a new window". How do I fix this? I tried to restart Firefox but it didn't help. thanks!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Try to open a new window and see if that window works.

If you cannot get mail to quit/force quit, you can always remove power from your Mac.
NOTE: removing power is a bad idea, and can result in data loss, but sometimes it is the only thing left to do.
Press and hold the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, and the Mac will power off.
When you power back on, the Mac should reboot.

  • Can't open links in pdf file 9.3.2

I have installed Reader 9.3.2 and all of the sudden I can't open links within a pdf file. I get a block message and it doesn't give me the option to choose Allow. When I go to Edit > Preferences > Trust Manager > Settings everything is grayed out. I had to revert back to 9.3.1 for it to work again. Does anyone know the fix for this. Our 9.3.2 install was streamlined into a 9.3.0 msi package and then installed through a GPO.

same problem here..  but I figured it out..  Believe it or not, if you just wait 5-10min it will come up.   I also "End-Task" on some exe that start or had "3D"in the name and after that adobe would come up fast when opening pdf's. Think you need to disable some of the internet related items under preferences.

Firefox doesn't install new versions of plugins, but Flash may update itself automatically.<br />
You are still one version behind on Flash, current is Flash 10.1 r85<br />
If the Flash player didn't update properly then you need to download the full version and run the installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...)

You are more versions behind on Java updates with having Java 6 U11, current is 6 U22.

  • Gnome-Terminal can't open links anymore

    Hey
I'm using Awesome as "DE" and gnome-terminal as my default terminal.
The Problem is that I can't open links in gnome-terminal anymore (through right click->open link). I get the Error:
Could not open the address "$Link"
    Operation not supported
In the "gnome-default-applications-properties" I set "Custom" and used "chromium" as command.
Does somebody maybe know what the problem could be or at least where I can get a bit more error logs?
    greetings
    vIiRuS

What is the output when you run 'x-www-browser' in a console?  It *should* work as I just had to investigate the very same issue this past weekend and it cleared up the problem for me.
    Edit: Oh wait, I just re-read your first post...instead of right-clicking, try control+click.  That's what I use.

  • Mail won't "open link behind mail" in Mavericks

Is anyone else having this problem?  I get weekly digests from a number of groups as well as google alerts.  My usual workflow is to read through the digest right-clicking on any links that I am interested in and selecting "open link behind mail".  When I do this in Mavericks... nothing happens!  Safari opens but it does not load the page.  so that means that now I am stuck swiping backwards and forwards between Safari and mail - opening a link, then back to mail to open the next one.

I have the same problem with mail that I receive from LinkedIn groups that I follow. I found that if you press and hold the Command and Option keys when you click a link it will open behind mail, in Safari.
