It is the same accout that has been working find for years and just after I updated the software this has happened. My Mac is still receiving and sending via Outlook with the same account and settings. My Iphone 5C has also stopped and I tried deleting the account and adding again (via exchange as it's an exchange accout) the same way I always do and it won't even recognise it to add the settings.
So annoying. Can anyone help?

For the ipad 2, what do you do when it says connection to the server failed ? This has happened for the past two days. I have changed nothing. It happens at home and at work. What do you do? What has happened? Thank you.

What are you trying to do when you get this error message? Is it related to mail, connecting to the iTunes store, Facebook/iMessage, your internet ISP? All of these are different servers.

I Changed my iTunes account to my step son and then opened my own for some reason I can't add my icloud account as an extra email and when I try to go onto my icloud emails it says connection to server failed and I've lost all my emails

It does not sound like you lost your emails, it sounds like you lost access to your account. To verify if I am correct you can go to www.icloud.com and login. You will see your emails, as long as you use the same user name and password as you had used originally.

EA68, who is your broadband provider, if it is Sky then they have recently merged with Yahoo, and there have been similar problems with people who use Mail to access their emails.
If this is the case you will need to remove your SKY account from Mail and then set it up again.
Make sure you clear your inbox, and back up any important emails you have.
IN MAIL go to prefrences and accounts. Highlight SKY account and select the MINUS or delete sign.
Now select the PLUS or add button and type in your sky email address, and then your sky password. Follow on screen instructions, and your emails should then work.

Anyone else get "connection to the server failed" when trying to get yahoo mail?

Suddenly I cannot get my Yahoo mail - I get the above message. I get all other mail - gmail, aol, etc. Spent over an hour on the phone with Apple (don't) Care, they blame Yahoo. "Yahoo is having issues" I was told. Yahoo is of no help. I've gone thru all the suggestions such as delete the accounr, replace the account, etc,. etc. I get Yahoo mail on my Dell laptop and my HP desktop but not on iPhone (5s), Apple Mini or iPad. Anyone have an idea to try or has anybody had this problem? Thanks!

Most Uni's are using outlook.com as the server connection not mail.youruniversity.edu

That suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.

Connection to the server failed for email, but internet access is fine.

My iPad 2 worked fine yesterday and today I cannot get mail. The message says connection to the server failed or all of my email accounts. Internet access is fine.

Try again with the e mail. The message means you messed up the settings. Google you ISP and e mail settings. They will tell you the server name for incoming and outgoing. They will be different. Pay attention to port number and be careful to make sure you enter the password right. Since the rest of the internet works, your problem is just with the security on your ISP.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices? Take a look at the article below, it provides suggestions that will resolve most issues that cause an alert like that to appear in when starting the Mail app.
