Can't pair my Macbook Pro Retina to my iPhone 5S for Handoff

Bluetooth is on, I'm running Yosemite, iOS8.1, followed directions to pair my phone to my Macbook. Handoff is enabled on both my Macbook's system prefs and also on my iPhone 5s. When I click "Pair" my phone displays a message with a code, so I accept the code on my phone, then the Bluetooth window says they are "connected", but a few seconds later it says "disconnected" and it fails.
I can't get this Handoff thing to work. I've restarted both my Macbook and iPhone 5s but what else am I missing?
Here's what happens:
And then...
And my iPhone alerts me to pair with the code. I tap to pair on my iPhone and then...
It says it's CONNECTED... but.... in two seconds this happens:
"NOT CONNECTED"!
I'm running iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5S and Yosemite 10.10. Bluetooth is enabled on both devices. I've rebooted my Macbook twice and my iPhone twice and tried this process all over again but same results. Pairing fails. Again, I have Handoff enabled on both my iPhone and my Macbook Pro Retina.
Am I missing something? Thanks in advance!
Jay

Correct, as there is no supported protocol to do so.

you have to go to Apple store online then you'll have to go to customize your MacBook Pro, there you choose Arabic keyboard, and it'll automatically contains both languages English and Arabic....... because the Latin letters must have for any computer to be used on email's website and etc. etc.

  • Can I take my new MacBook Pro retina to an apple store for them to transfer files

Can I take my new MacBook Pro retina to an apple store for them to transfer files from my PC? I am migrating from window 7. I was planning on doing myself but it looks like you need two thunderbolt to Ethernet adapters and two Ethernet cables? What is the best way to transfer? I live in a rural area and think maybe wirelessly may not be the best way? Thanks for any assistance!

Can I use my back up from my PC to transfer? I just backed up my PC to WD My Book. Will that work?
Probably will work fine. It's worth a try and won't do any harm.

What you can transfer to your Mac depends on the files.
Photo files (.jpg .tiff etc) fine
Music files - some may need conversion software to be used in iTunes (unless you had iTunes on your PC) but free converters are there
Video files - ditto, some will work in iMovie, others may need converting to work
Text - Pages will read .doc and .docx files.  Most Word processing files/spreadsheet files/presentation files can be read in iWork but if not, can use Open Office or Libre Office (both free downloads)
Windows programs (eg those with a .exe suffix) won't work on a Mac without installing Windows (e.g. via BootCamp).

Unfortunately, that is not possible. The computer only can "output" your display image, it cannot "input" an image from an external computer and display it on your MacBook's retina display.

I have been playing whole movies before from VLC without problems.
    Any Ideas?

Yes it's network issues or settings that cause these types of problems most of the time.

  • Can the late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 13" power 2 external Dell UltraSharp U2713HM monitors at full resolution?

Hi, I'm looking at buying the current Macbook Pro Retina 13", but I'd like to use it with 2 Dell UltraSharp U2713HM monitors http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&kc=305&l=en& oc=U2713HM-Black&s=dhs&sbc=dell-u2713hm
My plan was to use the the thunderbolt ports to the monitors DisplayPort plug. Can the 13" Macbook Pro drive 2 external screens @ 2560x1440 I'm happy to shut the macbook lid if necessary.
If the 13" can't do it, can the 15" model with it's discrete graphics card?
The Dell UltraSharp U2713HM – it’s everything you could want in a 27” monitor – screen brilliance, comfort and eco-consciousness all rolled into one
27-inch (diagonal) VIS with LED backlight
    WQHD resolution, 2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz (Max)
    178°/178° ultra-wide viewing angle
    In-plane switching technology
    Customizable brightness from 50 to 350 cd/m²
    Factory calibrated color report
    More than 99% sRGB (deltaE < 5)
DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI, DVI and VGA and USB 3.0 ports
Pivot, tilt, swivel and height adjustable (115mm)
Arsenic-free glass and mercury-free LED panel
Why not the Apple Thunderbolt screen, well I prefer a non-reflective screen in the office, but If I can't do it with the Dell's can it be done with 2 27" Thunderbolt monitors from the 13" Macbook Pro?

    In a word, yes.
The video out capabilities for the 13" and 15" retina MBPs are the same.

  • Can i buy a macbook pro retina display in US with portuguese keyboard?

Can Apple or someone else tell me if is possible to buy in Apple Retail Store in U.S. a Macbook Pro retina Display  with portuguese keyboard?

It's difficult to get one at a shop or Apple Online Store because build-to-order Macs aren't available at them unless they are very popular.
The only option you have is to call Apple (1-800-MY-APPLE) and see if you can order a MacBook Pro with a Portuguese keyboard. In case you can, this will take days because it has to be ordered and delivered to the USAFD

  • Can I buy a MacBook Pro Retina one month before I travell?

I will have a trip no NYC and I wanna buy a macbook pro retina display 25 dyas before my trip because i dont wanna exceed my credit card limit. Can the macbook pro stay 25 days at the Apple Store? Thank you!!!

I would not even ask a friend to *just hold* it for 25 days, as you have a 14 day grace period to return "for any reason" and that time should be spent using it to determine if there are issues.
You may also owe considerable "import duties" if you bring back a system purchased in the US.  Your own country may want to take its 20+% (just guessing) import duties when you return home.

  • Can i upgrade my macbook pro retina internal storage

    Hi,
My macbook pro retina came with 128gb internal storage, but i got a gopro recently and the videos take up loads of storage! Can i upgrade the internal storgae or do i have to get an external hard drive to store it on?
    Thanks

But you will void your warranty if you still have one.
An external drive is a good, and cheaper option.

  • How hard can i push my MacBook Pro Retina?

So I like to game on my macbook, but at the same time I'm afraid it won't last very long if I continue with it. If I have best resolution, maximum framerate (fps) etc will this hurt my mac or slow it down?
I'm rocking a mid 2014 macbook pro retina 13 inc, with intel core i5, 2.6 ghz and 8 gigs of ram. Latest version of osx (yosemite). And I have intel iris 1536MB graphics card.
So if I push my Mac too hard will it "survive" or whatever? I thought these computers were meant for this stuff, but I don't know, that's why i'm asking.
Will battery life also drain after a while?
I have tried best graphics and it handles it very well, but I have no idea if it's a smart thing to do. Will it destroy my mac?
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Magnus

Macs are specifically designed for maximum performance, and are impossible to damage through normal use as long as you observe its published environmental specifications. That includes gaming or whatever else you need it to do. If it should reach a thermal limit that cannot be altered, it will throttle its performance to remain within its operational specifications. If that fails to keep it cool, it will simply shut down to protect itself.
Avoid any clever third party hacks such as those intended to manipulate the exhaust fan speed. Doing that will only draw in more environmental contaminants than would normally occur, and could conceivably render its warranty void.
No battery works as well as a brand new one. They are all wear items that will require eventual replacement. Usually, by that time your Mac will be so old you'll want to replace it anyway.
It's obviously an unscientific observation, but I find that the less people obsess about their Macs, the longer they tend to last. Expect your Mac to serve you well until 2020, at least. By that time who knows what we'll be doing with them.

  • Which Macbook Pro Retina specs would be best for me?

    Hey (:
I'm planning on purchasing either a 13" Macbook Pro Retina, with 512gb Flash Based Storage/2.6GHz, and an upgraded memory of 16GB, or the 15" MBP Retina, with 2.0GHz/256 Flash Based storage, and then upgrading it to 16GB. I was wondering whether you could tell me which model would suit me better, and whether it'd be wise to upgrade to 16GB since its non-upgradeable after prchase?
I'm going to be using the Macbook for everyday work, but also for Photoshop artwork pretty much everyday, as well as editing a few videos and music pieces. I'll need to be using Safari with various tabs open and I'll be playing videos from Youtube while I work, often on Photoshop while having large canvases and multiple layers open. Occasionally, I'll need to be running games when I'm doing game design as well. I'm hoping that the MB will last me for atleast 6 years, throughout college - so thats why I thought the 16GB might be a good idea? I'm looking for high performance as well.
Any help is much appreciated ^^
    Thanks (:

If money is an option get the 13". If not get the 15". In 2 years you'll be wanting a new one because of all the latest and greatest features that will have come out. Get what you can use adequately now.

  • Macbook pro retina doesn't turn on for a day or two

Macbook Pro Retina     13-inch Late 2012
    2.5GHz Intel Core i5
    OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
So this is a weird one... I recently purchased a used Macbook Pro Retina and the previous owner had upgraded the hard drive for a bigger size. My macbook worked great for a few days but then one night I closed it and the next day when I opened it, it would not turn on. I tried rebooting the battery (SHIFT+CONTROL+OPTION and POWER) then hitting power but NOTHING. At one point, I heard a clicking sound when I would leave the power button down. Then... two days later I push the power button just because and BAM! The screen comes on. (I didn't hear the start up sound, and it wasn't like it restarted.) It was as if the screen brightness was all the way down but then came back. (I kept trying to adjust that too before it turned on).
I don't understand!!! Two days later, same thing happened. Then again, it turned back on a day later.
The only thing I noticed that was weird was when I connected it to my tv with HDMI cable. The laptop screen would freeze and get distorted and I would have to force a restart (the black screen with the apple would appear and the loading bar as if I would updating the software).
I'm soooo confused and I don't want this to keep happening. I would appreciate any type of help or advice!!

  • Macbook Pro Retina (late 2013) and support for two external monitor

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro Retina 13" (Late 2013) and are looking to buy two DELL U2414 monitors. But after searching the web i´m a little bit confused if my MBPr will actually supports connecting two montors from one single Display port.
I will be using this montors at work where I use my MBPr with Windows7 (Paralllels).
I want to set up these two monitors with extended desktop not mirroring. The reason of using just one DP on my MBPr is that the other one is used by my wired ethernet connection. Will this work under OSX10.9.2 or 10.9.3?. Does my MBPr 13" support DP1.2a MST that is needed for daisy chain multiple monitors?

The hardware supports DP1.2 and MST but unfortunately at present OS X Mavericks does not.
