Can't play song purchased from iTunes Store

I recently purchased a song from iTunes Store, and the song appears in my library.  However, when I double click on the song to playback, it skips to another song.  It won't play at all.  Help?!  How can I get the song to play (or at least get my $1.29 back)?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • IPod will not play songs purchased from itunes

my ipod will show me the album (songs, artwork, time of song, etc.) but when I press play, it just quickly skips through all the songs. So far this has only been the case with music purchased through itunes. I restored my ipod but nothing has helped thus far. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This just happened to me on one song I purchased from iTunes (it plays fine on iTunes on my MacBook). I'm on iTunes 8.0 (haven't yet upgraded to newest version). Everything else works fine so should I do this for only one song - or is there another easier fix? I did copy the song to a cd so would it work if I just deleted the one song and imported it? Or is this a sign of a deeper problem?

  • Song purchased from iTunes Store won't play on my computer

Several people have posted variations on this question but I haven’t been able to find a coherent explanation of, or fix for, the problem.
I have downloaded all my CDs into iTunes and synched them to my iPod. Everything downloaded from CDs plays fine.
I bought and downloaded one song from the iTunes store. It appears on playlists, but I cannot play it using iTunes. When I click on it I get the blue highlighting but nothing happens when I click on the “Play” arrow. (I can play it using Quick Time). My computer is authorized.
When I synch the iPod, I get the error message “(song) was not copied to the iPod (my iPod) because it cannot be played on the iPod.”
I noticed that the files copied from CDs are .m4a files and the file downloaded from the iTunes store that won’t play is an .m4p.
I think this is some kind of rights issue. Can anyone explain what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

The trick of deleting the song to the Recycle Bin, dragging it to the Desktop and then back into iTunes worked. My guess is that because our computer was not authorized at the time of the purchase (this was our first purchase from the iTunes Store), the original file downloaded in a protected format. The computer has since been authorized, so the Recycle Bin ruse tricks iTunes into thinking it's a new file. I would still like to hear a confirmation of this from someone who knows though. Also, Apple should tell people to authorize their computers before making any purchases. It will save some confusion it seems.
    Thanks for the tip.

  • I can't play music purchased from iTunes on other devices

I purchased some songs via iTunes store today. I then copied them to my daughter's music player (a Mattel product) only, but they won't play. They show up on the device's folder when connected to my computer, but they don't show up or play on the device.
I know they can only be transferred to three devices, but this is the first device for these songs
Does iTunes block their songs from being played on non-Apple products?
The Mattel Product is the Kids MP3 Boombox, Model # 1636110

Not for recent purchases, but the songs may need to be converted to MP3 to work on non-Apple devices.

  • Help - Cannot play music purchased from iTunes store

    HI,
Hoping someone can help me. I cannot play any music I have purchased from the iTunes store on my Macbook Pro or iMac at home however I can play the tracks on my iMac at work. This occurred after I reinstalled Leopard on my main iMac at home. Here are the steps I have taken so far to try and resolve:
    1 - Deauthorized all computers
    2 - Reauthorized all computers
I recently copied the music library from my home iMac to the work iMac and laptop they are all the same files now, not different versions. Essentially I'm playing the same file on each machine and all machines are authorized.
If I select a purchased song at home or on my MacBook Pro, a window opens saying I am not authorized, blah blah blah. I input my details which I know are correct. The message tells me the authorization was successful but if I click on the song, the window opens again telling me I'm not authorized - ARRRGHHH!!
BUT the weird thing is, the files all play on my work iMac. This is the only device that hasn't changed recently - the home Mac is a new OS restore and the MacBook Pro is about 2 months old, but if I've authorized them I don't understand why they won't play.
Trying to contact iTunes support it impossible so I thought I'd see if anyone else has suffered a similar experience?

I have the SAME problem and it's driving me INSANE!! I contacted an iTunes person and she's trying to help me but it didn't really help much... The stupid authorization prompt won't stopp popping up and I'm about to throw my computer out the window... It will sync and everything, but before it's done it will say some of my songs weren't copied to my iPhone because I'm not authorized, even though I AM. It's highly depressing... I really want to fix this problem. I thought it was just my computer because if just recovered from a major virus that we fixed, but what you explained is Identical to my problem. If you find a solution, please tell me! Thank you very much.

  • Can you restore songs purchased from iTunes on a (broken)Mac onto a new PC?

The logic board on my iMac G5 failed (again), and I couldn't afford to get a new Mac, so now I have an HP laptop. Also, my kids locked up my iPod Touch for 4 million minutes or so. Is there anyway to pull at least the purchased songs from my iTunes account onto my new computer? It seems like if I bought the content, that I should be able to download it again right?
My old Mac is basically a paperweight, and I figure if I try and unlock my iPod Touch on a PC that it will clear out everything. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andy

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • Can't download song purchased from Itunes from one computer to another using same Apple ID

Hi, I am operating itunes 11 at home, using Mac OS 10.7.5.. I purchased a song at work (also a Mac, I am not sure which version of OSM or itunes). I accessed the purchase of the song in the "Purchased" menu option in itunes on my home Mac. When I tried to download the song at home so I can include it in my Library, I got the following message:
This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days.
So: just to be clear:I can only buy something from  itunes from one computer and save to another with the  same Apple ID only every 90 days??? And if that is the case, I have not purchased anything from my work computer within 90 days of this recent song  purchase. That just does not make sense to me, since the license covers 10 devices anyway, and I am using the same Apple ID.
Let me know if I am not understanding this correctly, or am doing something wrong. It just does make not sense to me that I can't download a purchase I made from one computer to another since I am paying Apple for the music and just accessing it elsewhere, using the same account.
    Thanks so much.

Thanks for the response. Yes, my husband logged on to our computer and rented a movie for us to view. That is how we use Itunes: I purchase the music, he may purchase a movie or a rental now and then. This is new, it never happend before.
Also, I contacted customer support, both by phone and email. Not only does someone else using the home computer under a different account trigger this, but so does simply activating my own user id from a different computer (one of the 5 I am allowed to under the service agreement.)
Customer support was very helpful and lifted the 90 day ban. I called them because I purchased a season pass of a TV show and could not download the first episode because it was a "past purchase" (the episode was not even available to download when I purchased the pass, so “past” is indeed relevant.)
But I don't see the point of purchasing content from Apple now. This feature limits the accessibility of legal purchases under the service agreement.  Why allow 5 computers per Apple ID if activating one of them limits the ability to download content for 90 days??
I (used to) buy movies, rentals and TV shows all the time. I don’t have cable, so Apple was the source for all “must have” shows that I couldn’t wait for. Too bad.

  • Everytime i try to download songs purchased from itune store to itune account. A warning comes up that I have exceeded the 5 account per computer limit. I only have one account.   What is this?

Why do I get  a warning that I have exceeded the 5 account limit per computer, when I only have one account.  It will allow me to purchase songs from itune, but will not download them to my itune account.

The very similar situation with mine:

I can't find any solution. I don't even remember when I changed my apple ID! So does that means I cant recovered my purchased apps from my " old" account? I am totally innocent, for I did not intend to "Change" my account name

I am wondering if anyone knows why I cant watch free movie trailers on the iTunes Store? It follows as far as letting me choose the size of the trailer cilp I want to watch but after that nothing loads up! the top half of the page is blank! Also I can't watch movie trailers from the apple website through the quicktime option. Yes, I do have Quicktime. Please Help.

  • IPhoto will not play song purchased from iTunes in slideshow

IPhoto reports the song as not being authorized on this computer.
When I go to iTunes the songs are all authorized to play on this computer, and they do play in iTunes.
    Here's the message from iPhoto:
This computer is not authorized to play "17 Good Riddance.mp4".
If you purchased this song you can open itunes and authorize this computer to play this song by entering your Apple ID and Password".
When I do this, nothing changes. I can repeat the process a number of times and the purchased song will not play.
Anyone else deal with this and find a solution?

I did the burn and re-import and that works just fine. Would like to resolve this so I do not have to do that work around though.
Haven't posted at the iTunes forum as it seems like more of an iPhoto problem since the songs in question play fine in iTunes. It seems that iPhoto is the program having trouble with the DRM on slideshows.
I'll check around over there though.
Thanks everyone for such quick responses.

  • Can't download videos purchased from ITunes store onto hard drive

My video Ipod already contains a number of videos. However three recently purchased videos will not download onto the computer. Each time download is attempted the following error message appears " There was a problem downloading. The disk you are attempting to use is full. Removing files and emptying the Recycle bin will free up additional space". We have repeatedly checked and deleted any old stuff on the hard drive - there is plenty of free space yet we can't get the videos onto the computer!!!!!

    there is no longer a 20 GB ipod...only a 30 GB ($300) or 60 GB ($400)

    Hey Kelsieee,
First, I would try to resolve the issue with the ! in a circle that you're seeing in iTunes. There's some steps in the following article that go over what that ! usually means and how to fix it:

    Hi Kevin,
Have you authorized the Computer to your Apple ID?
If not, sign on to iTunes.
Then got to the Store menu option at the top of the screen (CTL+B if it is not showing), and click on it to display the dropdown, and select Authorize this computer.
If that doesn't work, then sign on your Dad's iTunes ID and repeat the Authorization process.
    Cheers,
