Can't print from my iPad2 to my airprint printer

I have an iPad2 and an HP Officejet 8500 wireless printer. I have been unable to print to it from my iPad. I even tried an app and that didn't work either(before I realized my printer is Airprint enabled). I'm not sure how to check the firmware that is mentioned. I don't see that on HP's website when I have checked there.

Hi Jody, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Have you done this yet?
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then reboot.
If that doesn't work try Mac OS X: About the Reset Printing System feature ...

Might try Printer Setup Repair 5.1...

Add the Printer again after removing it.

can i print from my ipad2 to an epson printer which is connected to my time machine.?

Does that printer support wireless printing?  If so, then try it that way using the "Epson iPrint" app.  From my experience, don't expect to be able to print every type of thing you'd want to.

  • I have been successfully printing from my ipad2 wirelessly to HP printer but for no apparent reason it has stopped working. Any ideas?

Hi I have been successfully printing from my ipad2 wirelessly to HP printer but for no apparent reason it has stopped . Any ideas please ?

Try clearing your printer queue.  Double click the bottom button to see your active apps and scroll to find your printer app.  Cancel all documents listed for printing.  Hopefully you'll b able to print again.  This solution worked for me recently.

  • Can you print from a iPad to an AirPrint printer without an Internet connection?

Can you print from a iPad to an AirPrint printer without an Internet connection?

    General Jer-
    Maybe.
If you can set up your AirPrint printer's WiFi to create an Ad Hoc Network, then your iPad can connect its WiFi directly to it and be able to print.
I have the HP D110 AirPrint printer.  As I recall, it was set up in Ad Hoc Network mode out of the box.  I had to change the setting in order to update its firmware over the internet.  You probably should do that as well, to be sure it has the latest firmware.
If you happen to have an old Apple AirPort WiFi base station, you can use its WiFi network for printing.  It does not require an internet connection to print.  Other brands may work as well, but some do not correctly handle the Bonjour data required by AirPrint.

  • Printing from an IPad2 to my C410A printer stopped after shared the printer.

Please help to clear up my IPad2/HP Printer problem.  I have a HP C410a.  The C410a printer is wired to a Dell desktop.  The Dell desktop is wired to my Cisco Linksys E4200 router.  The C410 shows a strong wireless signal to the Cisco router.  A year ago, a MacBook Air and two IPads were brought into my home wireless network.  They instantly and automatically saw the C410 printer.  They could print.  Six months later, I introduced an additional Dell desktop to my home network.  It has a wireless connection to the router.  It could not see the printer.  I made the printer a shared printer. The new Dell desktop then saw the printer and could print.  The three Apple products then could no longer see the printer.  With research, I was able to use the options on the Air laptop to find the printer, and now it works on the printer.  The IPads do not offer the same menu options as the laptop, and I cannot point them to the printer.  How can I get the IPads to see the C410a printer, again?  Everyone has the latest SW.  Everyone has been unplugged and turned on in the right order.  Thanks!

I think I may know what is going on....from what your telling me your connected to the Dell PC via USB and the printers wireless radio was on....that is why the ipads could see it because it was broadcasting a signal.  IF that is the case then your printer probally is not broad casting the signal anymore.  The Printer must be wireless or ethernet to the router or the printer just needs to broad broadcast a signal for the iPads to see it.

Actually several. Your printer manufacturer may very well have one, but several third party apps are available. I have had pretty good results with Printer Pro. As far as printing to a device that is NOT on your network, no. How would it connect?

  • Printing from my iPad2 to HP Officejet L7590 printer ...

    Hi folks
I purchased an iPad2 today - I have an HP Officejet Pro L7590 printer that I can print wirelessly to via my adsl router.
My question is: Am I able to print from my iPad2 to the same printer wirelessly via the same router?
    Thanks in advance, folks

The paid App "Print and Share" is well worth the $8.99. I was trying to get my son's Ipad to print to an HP Premium and it wouldn't go. I got the app and it recognized every printer in the house AND it put the printers on the Pages printer list along with all the other apps. Well worth it!
It also has extensions for converting files to PDF for like another $1.99 I think.
I saw other apps similar but heard this one was best from a Tech Crunch article.
    Good Luck!
(I do not work for the company, just a happy dad sending his son to college with an iPad!)

If it's not an AirPrint enabled printer, you may need:

  • How can I print from my ipad2 to my hp6210 all in one using printopia...I can see the list on my ipad2, I select the printer and say print but nothing happens.

How can I print from my ipad2 to my hp 6210 all in one using printopia? I see my printer on my iPad, I select it and say print and nothing happens. The printer is connected to an older Mac with OS X 10.4.11 but I do have an imac in another room. I have trouble printing from the iMac to this printer also even tho share is on but the printer works fine with the old Mac it's connected to. My iPad has the latest iOS.

    A few things to consider.
The computer Printopia is loaded on must be powered on and must be able to print on the printer that is being shared.  If the iMac is having problems printing to the printer it could indicate a problem with the share setup.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If you have a Mac running OS X, try AirPrint Activator.

    It's "donation-ware."
Free to download and try. If it works and you like it, the developers do appreciate a donation, but the app continues to function, even without a donation.

  • I can't. Print from my iPad2 why

HP 5510 all in one air printer Can't find printer

    Hi Brenbob25,
I'm sorry you're having problems printing from your iPad2, but hopefully these steps will help:
    1.  Remove the power cord from the back of your router, then the printer, and turn off the iPad (in that order).
    2.  After about 1 minute, plug in the router, and when it shows ready (lights should stop blinking), plug in the printer and turn on the iPad.
    3.  Try to resend the print job to your printer.
If these steps don't work, the printer or the router's firmware may need to be updated.  Let me know the result, and I'll be glad to look closer at the issue if needed.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • I live out in the county where WiFi is not available.  I don't have internet either.  I have purchased the ipad2 and have been told that I can print from the ipad2 directly to the HP Officejet Pro 8500A eprint all-in-one.  Is that true?

I would like to be able to print from my ipad2 or my iphone4 directly to a wireless printer.  I don't have WiFi at home or internet.  I am able to get my emails and use the internet thru both these at home.  Will I be able to use them to print? Any suggestions which printer?  I was told that the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A eprint all-in-one should work and wouldn't have to use a router.  I don't want to go purchase this and try to set it up if it won't work thru the 3G network.

Apple says that it will work.

how do i get the hp officejet pro 8600 premium to print from my ipad2 using airprint? The iPad does not see the printer.

    Hi RiverBirch,
What brand and model is your router?
First, connect your printer to your router.
    1. From printer front panel, press Wireless>Wireless Settings>Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the onscreen instructions to successfully connect your printer with an IP address.
Secondly, connect your iPad to the same router.
    1. Connect your iPad to the Internet and download the free HP ePrint Home & Biz app from the apps store.
    2. Connect your iPad to the same network as the printer. Settings>Network.
    3. Use the new HP Home & Biz app to print and scan photos or docs from your iPad!
Alternatively, you can also perform Airprint on the iPad thru the wireless network from the Photos menu in your iPad.
