Can't Print from various Applications

Safari Application will print, Appleworks, Excel, Word, PowerPoint will not print. E-Mail will. I have a HP Business Jet 1200 v3.3 driver and a HP Color LaserJet 3500 with the most current drivers. I have reset the printer settings, run a program DiskWarrior (Utilities), restart numerous times, checked and repaired all permission three times. I am at a standstill....Can anyone help? Thanks

If you have a box that's still under warranty or under AppleCare, call Apple Support.
You might try using the generic CUPS drivers path (if that's available), and see if that works.

  • Can't print from 64bit applications

I have tested this on 10.6.8 server and 10.8.X server.
    HP printers are fine.
All my Xerox printers (5790s, 5335s, 7855s, etc) don't work when adding the driver, sharing them out, and then a client tries to print with a 64bit application. I tested this in Google Chrome on my machine (Mac OS X 10.7.5) and it prints just fine, then when I try and do anything in Mail or Textedit it hangs, then tries to print two ghost "Printer Status" reports before my job, ultimately not printing at all.
Xerox has no answer for me, and I've tried their latest drivers 2.94.3. My mac gets the correct driver and information from my print server but then goes nowhere. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?!
    Thanks

  • Can't print from any application in OS X Snow Leopard??

Before the print dialog box comes up, the spinning beachball wheel comes up.
I then have to force quit the application. I have tried resetting the print system but no joy.
I have done a complete wipe and time machine restore and the problem is still there.
I have binned the print prefs and also the relevant print folder and downloaded updates. not worked.
Done disk permissions and disk first aid.
    Any other suggestions??!!

Yep, tried that, however I created a new user and the problem was still there, so I used time machine to go back a couple of weeks and restore the main library folder. Now it prints fine, so there was something in that folder the system didn't like

  • Can't print from Windows....

Using Windows 7 over Parallels Desktop, I can't print from Windows applications....
The driver was download, but Windows keep asking to connect printer.

    Hi,
since Parallels is not an Apple product it would be better to ask such questions in the Parallels support forum.

  • MFP M127fn connected, test printing OK, can't print from applications

    Hello Everyone!
I have just set up my M127fn via USB on a Windows 8 system. The set up went fine. I have a small stack of test pages from the HP software, but it won't print anything from any applications like MSOffice. The HP diagnostic software (Print and Scan Doctor 4.6)  can communicate with the printer and everything checks out OK.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!
I have replied twice to your last posting, but have heard no response. Unless a solution can be presented quickly, I fell I must return the product. LPug and play was introduced with Windows 95 and this HP product has not lived up to that 20 year old technological standard. My previous replies are copied below.
    Please respond soon.__________________________________________

    Hello again!
I haven't heard a response to my most recent reply. Is there anything you can suggest before I give up and return this HP product to the store? I would like a quick resolution to this. As an update to my previous email (copied below), printing is no longer working through Adobe Reader.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • I can't print CS5 files from my Mac OSX (Mavericks). Can print from other applications. Help please?

I can't print CS5 files from my Mac OSX (Mavericks). CS5 crashes when sent to print.  Can print from other applications (Word, etc.).

I just tried installing them. I got the message that "Some updates failed to install" (including for CS5), to quit and try again. I was curious and tried again to print and lo and behold, I could print!  I'm still nervous that not everything installed and wonder how to get a complete install.

  • I have a new Macbook pro and need to run some Windows software, it appears "Parallel" should work well from what I've have read. Will I have any issues or problems accessing and printing from various printers on my Windows 7 network within Parallel?

I have a new Macbook pro and need to run some Windows software, it appears "Parallel" should work well from what I've have read. Will I have any issues or problems accessing and printing from various printers on my Windows 7 network within Parallel? Is Parallel in fact the best way to go?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • How can I print from the icon in FF5?

I have been unable to print from any of the icons in FF5. This has only occurred in the past few days. The only way I can print is to "Select" on the page, and then "Print Selection" on the print screen. I can print from IE by using the icons.
This is also true with my Yahoo email.

In Mac OS X, right-clicking the document's icon brings up a similar menu, but documents are printed from the application, not from the OS. The application is launched, the document opened, and the document sent to the printer, bypassing only the Print dialogue.
The same route may be triggered by dragging and dropping the file's icon onto the printer's icon in the Dock.

    Barry

  • Cannot print from ANY application after upgrade to 10.4.8 !!!

    Hi all,
as it is written in the subject.
Up to yesterday, I had OS 10.3.9, everything ok, could print from any application.
Then I moved to Tiger and to the last version (10.4.8).
And today the "nice" surprise: either from Preview, Texshop, Word, any web browser... I cannot print anymore!! As soon as I go to file/print, the application crashes, any suggestions??
    Thanks a lot

Hmmm. It sounds like a possible problem with the system prior to updating. If you've done this already don't be upset by the suggestion. I'm just trying to cover the bases.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X. Note that Disk Warrior will not work on Intel Macs.
Download the standalone 10.4.8 Combo Updater (be sure to get the correct version - Intel or PPC - for your Macs. Reinstall the update using the Combo Updater.
As an added precaution I would recommend you first boot into safe mode before doing the above.
There is a shareware utility called Printer Setup Repair (www.macupdate.com) that you can also try. It is sometimes very useful for fixing problems with the printing system.

  • Can't print from iTunes nor Safari

    Hi
I have a printing issue, that I simply can't solve by myself, so I need some advice!
The problem is that I can't print from Safari nor iTunes and maybe other applications aswell, but I can print from Pages without any problems at all!
    *In iTunes*
Today I told a friend about a playlist that I have made in iTunes and he wanted to see it, so I decided to print it to him as a PDF-file. I clicked "Print" in the File menu, and the dialog where you choose the kind of print and theme you want showed up as expected. I chose the options I wanted and clicked the "Print" button and a new dialog showed up (possibly the one to choose whether you want it as print or PDF) but it disappeared instantly! I tried a second time, but the same thing happened, I barely got to see the dialog before it closed by itself.
    *In Safari*
When I try to print an article e.g., the drop down printing window appears, but after trying to save the print as PDF, nothing happens and the drop down windows will not go away, so I have to force quit Safari to visit another website.
    *In Pages*
I click "Print" and it prints as I want. It seems that there is no trouble in Pages.
I have tried deleting the "com.apple.print"-files in ~/Library/Preferences and it had a small effect. The dialog in iTunes was visible in more than a second before it disappeared, but the next time I tried, it disappeared instantly again.
I have also tried installing all the printer drivers on the Snow Leopard DVD, but also without any luck.
And yep, I have googled for more than an hour on this issue and found no answer.
    +My software:+
    +Mac OS 10.6.3+
    +iTunes 9.1.1+
    +Safari 5.0+
    +Pages '09 v. 4.0.3+
If some of you have suggestions that can solve my problem, please help me!

I found out that I don't need to Force Quit Safari, and I can actually use Safari after attempting printing, but with this dialog box always on top! http://cl.ly/4983702c22817d87f6a7
Thank you for the screen shot. Expanding the dialog probably wouldn't help, but it might be worth a quick try. And "12" is the fake printer?
    John Blanchard1 wrote:
There should be something somewhere in Console, especially if you are force quitting Safari.
Even though you don't need a printer to create PDFs, you can try adding a "fake" IPP printer in AddPrinter using the Generic PPD to see if that makes a difference.
You could also try launching Safari from Terminal:
    /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/./Safari
and then see if Terminal gives any indication of where Safari is stalling.
The Console tells me this, which is the only Safari-related: http://cl.ly/6b1dd724be75085d2755
That's probably what's killing the dialog - the key is most likely related to the print dialog UI.
I really appreciate your helpfulness, though it hasn't helped me further. Right now, I'm thinking about deleting the entire HD and re-install Snow Leopard, because I have some issues with Mail as well.
I am happy to try to help, and it's all guesswork since I can't reproduce the issue here. And I am sorry it has not helped. Reinstalling is a last resort, but it sounds like the best plan now, especially since you are having issues with other applications.
Sorry again not to have been able to help.

  • Can't print from Windows Explorer

After installing the "HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a", on a Windows 7 64-bit PC, that is Ethernet connected, I get the following error message:
    Script Error
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    Line: 2061
    Char: 1
Error: Invalid procedure call or argument
    Code: 0
    URL: res://ieframe.dll/preview.js
When I try to print from Windows Explorer; however, I can print from other applications such as Word and Quicken OK, and I can print from Explorer OK from a Windows XP PC. Anyone have any suggestions?

The issue is caused when Windows creates the printer profile in the control panel that it doesn't correctly create it with the drivers.
We're not going to completely uninstall all the HP software, instead we're going to remove the corrupt Windows printer profile and reinstall it.  Total time for this on an average computer is about 5-10 minutes to completely repair (including reboot).
    1) Navigate to Start Menu > Devices and Printers or Start Menu > Control Panel > Printers
    2) Select each printer profile for the printer with an issue, then select remove device/printer.
    3) Reboot
    4) Navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > HP > insert model # here > Add Printer (or Setup Wizard)
    5) Follow the setup prompts to reinstall the printer profile and it recreates the Windows printer.
    6) Test by printing google.com (uses very little ink when the test page comes out).
Let me know if you have any questions or issues.
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Can't print from IE 8 64 bit version only

I am running windows 7, 64 home premium.  I have a HP c4599 all in one printer.  I installed all the latest drivers/software from the HP site.
I have no problems printing from any application such as word, excel, opera, etc.  I can even print from IE 8, the 32 bit version.  However, if I attempt to print from IE8, the 64 bit version, when I select print and then printer and then hit print nothing happens.  I don't get any error messages or anything.  Nothing gets put in the queue.
Does anyone know what the issue is?  Can you not print from IE 8 64 bit?  It is strange that I have no issues printing from any other program.
    Thanks!

Had the same problem but fixed by using other designated printer as default but printing to the same printer.
Could print a test page from new 8500 wireless printer and docs from Excel, Word etc but nothing from IE8 using the print drivers for Windows 7-64bit....decided to use old Officejet 7680 printer and it worked for all situations including IE8......compared both  printer test pages and discovered the environment for the 8500 which didn't work was windows NT x86 and the environment for the 7680 that worked was windows x64.......interestingly the driver names were the same, the config file was the same and the help file was the same, etc  but the data file was different too. The data file for th 8500 was hpw185g3.gpd and the data file for the 7680 was hp7600t.gpd. In other words, I select a 7680 printer software to print to the 8500 hardware.
Recommend you add a 7600 printer choice (or some other hp model) and compare printer test pages printed from the same printer .....hope it works.

  • User can't print from Reader, tried multiple troubleshooting steps

Working with a client who can no longer print from Reader (v11.0.10). Windows 7 Pro x86 machine.  Tried printing after each of the following steps:
    Rebooted PC
    Restarted Print Spooler service
Uninstalled/Reinstalled Reader v11 (from fresh download)
    Set PDF/A option to "Never"
Set Advanced option for "Print as image"
Uninstalled v11 and installed v10 (from fresh download)
Set v10 option to "Print as image"
In each instance, the printer queue shows no activity following a print command from Reader.  No document is hanging or even appearing in the queue.
Test prints from other applications (MS Excel) and from the printer properties Test button both work flawlessly. When test printing from other apps, the documents are briefly visible in the print queue.
She gets no error message.  It simply does not print.  Have attempted with multiple documents and sending to different printers.
Next step is going to be installing third-party PDF reader software and scrapping Reader altogether.  Please advise if there are any additional troubleshooting steps before abandoning this product.

No dice. Tried disabling protected mode and still could not print.
Installing Foxit Reader (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/Secure_PDF_Reader/index.php) so at least user can print PDFs.  I will keep monitoring this post for any further suggestions anyone may come up with.

  • Can't print from AppleWorks

I have a template I set up in AppleWorks several years back to print addresses on Avery-type labels. I just tried to print one, but nothing happened. I looked in the printer utility (Canon iP90) window, and the job appears there, but says "Stopped". I clicked the Resume button there, and nothing happened; I clicked the Resume button again, and a dialog appeared: "Operation could not be completed. client-error-not-possible".
I created a new AppleWorks WP document, with just a few letters typed in it, and tried to print it; same result: it appears in the print utility window as "Stopped".
Finally, I tried making a PDF of the document I want to print, opened it in Preview, and tried to print it; the first couple of times it just fed the paper through without printing, while this message appeared in the print utility window: "/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr failed". The third time the same message appeared, but it printed (on test paper). The fourth time, I put the label sheet in, and it printed as normal, without the error message.
Maybe there's something screwy about the printer software -- though I've had no problem printing from other applications. But I do recall having trouble printing from AppleWorks before; I think since I moved to 10.5. Has anyone else had problems printing from AppleWorks?

Thanks for the responses. I don't have time at the moment to make further tests, but I also have a Canon MP610, and will try printing to it when I can. I "moved to 10.5" some time back from 10.4 by erasing my HD and installing fresh, as I usually do with major upgrades, then downloaded the latest drivers for my printers from the Canon website. It may be that the driver for the iP90 is corrupted, though as I said I've had no problems printing from other apps, e.g. TextEdit, Preview. I don't print often.
I expect to be moving up to 10.6, now that the font problems have apparently finally been solved, within a week or so; from Apple's list of printer drivers for 10.6, it appears the one they have is newer than the one on the Canon site (v.10.30.3.0 vs. 10.26.1.0), and I gather that 10.6 installs only the drivers needed (rather than the whole gigabyte package) so I'll go with that one and see how it works with AppleWorks.
Of course, eventually I'll have to move out of AppleWorks entirely, though I still wish it had been properly updated for OS X, rather than replaced with iWork, which may be very slick but lacks much of AW's sophistication and ease of use.

  • Can't Print from Illustrator Anymore

just out of the blue, can't print from Illustrator CS3 or 4 to an epson 3800. Had the printer and computer for over a year, Vista 64, never had an issue, printed hundreds of pages with this printer and various Adobe products, then bam, out of the blue, this problem.
Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, 4 times now!
I can print test page from the Windows dialog in add/remove printers.
From Illustrator I have tried different pdf and ai documents, same thing. Printing hangs, nothing comes out, and most frustrating, I can't delete the print job and have to reboot to print another page.
I can print from the following with no problems:
    Photoshop CS4
    Microsoft Word 2004
    Firefox
    Sketchup
    Vectorworks (CAD)
    ect.
    Just never in Illustrator

    try dumping your preferences
go to Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe Illustrator CS4 settings, drag this file out to the desktop and then try printing, also make certain the file is on your local machine and not a server.
