Can't print to PDF after downgrading from acrobat 10 to 8
I tried the trial version of acrobat X pro and later uninstalled it. Now I can't print to PF because of this error: windows can not find c:\program files\adobe\acrobat 10.0\acrobat\acrotray.exe --- how can remap the path to the printer back to my acrobat 8.0?
Try checking the startup folder for AcroTray. If it is there, check the properties and repair them. You may have other issues to fix in the registry. Is the AA X folder removed completely? If not, remove it and then run a registry cleaner such as CCleaner to help cleanout the left over parts of AA X.

I attempted to install reader update when i could not print a pdf file. this was unsuccessful. After I uninstalled adobe, I can not re installe. the download timesout at 64%.
The same is happening with the flash player. i have read the instructions, tried many times but still nothing. can anyone assist me?You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else. -
Unable to open pdfs after downgrade from PS CC 2014
Greetings.
Our office has several seats of Creative Cloud, and our workstations are all Macs.
When InDesign and Photoshop upgrades to version 2014 were released, I installed them on our computers; only to discover that the upgrade is not compatible with OS X 10.6, so I had to downgrade - InDesign docs created in 2014 are not readable by InDesign CC.
Anyway, since then, I have one user who has followed the same procedure for some time, to create a pdf, which is as follows:
- Open an AutoCAD dwg file in AutoCAD (in Windows), and save as a PDF 'Drawing 1.pdf'
- Open PDF 'Drawing1.pdf' in Photoshop CC (in OS X 10.8.5)
- Add Layers, and add information (colouring in)
- Save PDF as a new PDF 'Drawing 2.pdf', saving the created Layers.
- Open PDF in Adobe Reader to print the PDF.
This used to work fine, however now the PDFs that have been modified will not open - claiming they are corrupt either with the error message: 'This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document. It cannot be opened.' or 'Adobe Reader could not open 'Drawing2.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).'
Of course this means that all the work done has been lost, as the file was closed after saving.
I am not sure if the downgrade is the cause, but this is the only thing that has changed since the issue appeared.
The user has an iMac running 10.8.5.
Any help with this would be appreciated!
Cheers,
mHi MBP User,
Are you still facing this issue?
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall. Is this issue reproducible on other machines, if you have around you.

Ajlan Huda. -
Issues after downgrading from Acrobat X Pro to 9.5.2 Pro
Hello, I have Adobe Acrobat 9.5.2 Pro and decided to install Acrobat 10.0 Pro trial. When the trial expired, I decided that I didn't want to purchase it and have since been using Acrobat 9.5.2 Pro; however, I've encountered two errors that I have not been able to resolve.
Problem #1: In Word, I am no longer able to go to "file" and choose "print to PDF" because I get this message: "Windows can no longer find C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Acrobat10.0\Acrobat\AcroTray.exe" By the way, the Adobe 10.0 folder isn't there anymore because I uninstalled 10.0 and ran a cleaner, and acrotray.exe is located at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\acrotray.exe
Problem #2: If I have PDFs saved to my desktop, I can no longer highlight more than two at a time, right click, and select merge files into one PDF. Similarly, word documents saved to my desktop cannot be converted to PDF by right clicking either.
What I have tried: uninstalling 10.0, repairing Acrobat 9.5.2, running a cleaner to remove 10.0
I would sincerely appreciate to fix this error because uninstalling and reinstalling can only be done by one person here where I work and that person is out for a long time :\Sorry to hear about the trouble you've had.
I'd recommend running the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove by Acrobat 9 and X from your system: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
After you've removed both of them, restart your computer, install Acrobat 9.0 from your disc and begin the process of patching it back up to 9.5.2.
I realize the patch process for going from 9.0.0 to 9.5.2 is......time-consuming. You can shorten it quite a bit by skipping the restarts between each version and only restarting after the last patch.
You can download the patches here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows

Can't print any PDFs after installing adobe Reader x version 10 - help!
I am using Windows XP professional SP 3 and Google Chrome as a web browser.
Everything worked OK until the upgrade to Reader 10 - I have removed the Adobe reader and reinstalled and no luck.
I am not able to print PDF's from the internet nor within other programs.
What should I do?
ThanksThis helped me out, works perfectly now. (using OS 10.8.5)
Remove from the folder /Library/Internet Plug-Ins:
1) AdobePDFViewer.plugin
2) AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
backup these plugins - just in case. -
.PS file generating a blank PDF after upgrade from Acrobat Pro 7 to 9
Hi All,
I've searched for this in vain so I'm comming to you now in desperation. My boss has tasked me with tracking down this error and I have to be honest, I'm a little bit green with Acrobat Pro. So coming into the situation I know this. My department used to use a .ps file to build a publication into a PDF from other .ps files. We operate on a network share (the P: drive) on Windows XP SP3 machines with the latest updates.
In Acrobat Pro 7 we could double click the .ps file which executed the below code through Adobe Distiller and a finished PFD of the same file name would be output to the host directory. But now, after upgrading to Adobe Acrobat 9, this process only produces a PDF with all of the appropriate bookmarks and none of the content.
% PostScript program for distilling and combining multiple PostScript files.
% When embedding font subsets, it is highly recommended you use this technique
% to distill multiple PS files so only one font subset is used for each font.

% INSTRUCTIONS
% 1. Locate all PostScript files to be distilled.
% 2. Make a copy of this file and give it the name you want to have as the prefix
% for the resulting file. For example, you could name this file MyBook.ps.
% 3. Include a line for each PostScript file to be run using the pathname syntax
% appropriate for the platform running Acrobat Distiller.
% Macintosh pathname syntax: (Macintosh HD:Folder:File.ps) prun
% Windows pathname syntax: (c:/mydir/file.ps) prun
% UNIX pathname syntax: (./mydir/File.ps) prun
% Note: The syntax for Windows may look strange, but double escaping the
% backslash character is required when using filenameforall.
% 4. Distill the file on the machine running Acrobat Distiller.
After the process is "done" the following log file is generated.

Is there anything obvious about this that screams, "You're an idiot!"? I'm okay with that, just need to get it fixed.
Thank in advance for any help you can provide.
MichaelAn observation -
It looks like you are dealing with files that reflect someone's work with the pdfmark Reference (associated with Distiller).
As with Acrobat Security, JavaScript and the Acrobat SDK the 'how-to' from these all undergo changes with each new Acrobat release.
I suspect that the coding, while adequate for back when Acrobat 7 was new on the street, may have to be updated to comply with what the Distiller provided with Acrobat 9 supports.
Use the link for pdfmark Reference
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/wwdistiller.html
The Acrobat Developer Center ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat.html ) provides a hub to the myriad of "under-the-hood" aspects of Acrobat.

Can not print a pdf from preview. It crashes every time from 2 different printers.
I can not print a pdf from preview. I have tried at two separate locations with two different printers.

Now it is happening in both my imac and macbook pro both runing the latest Lion MacOS with all updates installed. It is weird one moment my machine was printing ok then it stopped working. I have updated the printer software I have a canon image class mf4350. Also the curious thing is that I can print the same pdf document from adobe acrobat pro on the same computers with out any kind of problems.

I am unable to print a PDF file from a HP Photosmart Plus B210a. I contacted HP and they say because the printer does print word docs etc. the printer cannot be the cause of the problem. This is from the Top Level Support team. When contacting Adobe, they say that not being able to print their PDF files is not there problem but HP's.
Another call to HP and they now say it is Apple's problem.
I am in the middle and still can't print a PDF file. When trying to do so, it doesn't print and I receive no error messages. Just nothing. My serial number is
W88110PFZE3 and my operating system is OSX 10.6.8.
Does anyone have a suggestion, or do I just throw out HP?
Thanks, Bob L.Try opening the PDF in Preview and see if it will print out of it.

Can't Print to PDF using Acrobat 8 Prof after deleting demo of v 10
Hi, I made the mistake of trying version 10 to see if it had any improvements over what I was using v 8.1.5 for, found that there were none, so I deleted it and now I can't print to PDF because it's looking for v 10. Unfortunately had to move recently and can no longer find the original disk to do a new installation. Does anyone know how to redirect the driver to the original v 8? I can open v 8 and everything else seems to work ok, just when I try to print to create a PDF it can't do it.
Thanks for the quick reply Bill! I had tried that before and tried it again. Finally got things to work by copying all the contents of my Acrobat sub-directory from the v 8 folder to the hollow v 10 folder. Now it works again! Thanks for you help and inspiration to figure this thing out. Am now a very happy camper and didn't need to tear my house appart to find the original disk!

Can I print a pdf file from my phone?
Can I print a pdf file from my phone
Hello Carmen1390,
It sounds like you would like to print from your phone directly to a printer. This feature is called Airprint and your printer would need to support that function. Here is some more information on Airprint along with a list of compatible printers:
AirPrint Basics
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Regards,
Sterling -
I can't print my PDF form after filling it out. Only the form prints and not the text I put in.
That's a limitation of Apple's AirPrint framework that Adobe Reader depends on. We are considering an alternate solution that may resolve this issue though.
Thanks for your feedback.

Can I print a pdf file from an email on an HP printer Deskjet 5100?
Can I print a pdf file received through Email on an HP Deskjet 5100 printer and how?
Save the file to your hard drive, open it in Adobe Reader and print. Unless the file has security restrictions against printing, those steps should work.

Can't print in PSE11 after upgrading to windows 8.1
I have just upgraded from Windows8 to 8.1 and now can't print in PSE11. For some reason can in PSE7
I can print from other programs but not PSE. I have updated the drivers. I have attached 3 screen shots with error messages.

How can I print a pdf in the actual size with a page border?
How can I print a pdf in the actual size with a page border? (2 pages per sheet preferred)
I usually print pdfs of books at a copy shop and they turn out fine.
The problem comes when I try to print the same books at home.
I use Adobe Acrobat X with the same settings: "multiple pages per sheet" (2x1) and page border. But the pages are slightly shrunken when printed. I think this is because my printer can't print as closely to the margins. Still, two pages should be able to fit on one sheet in actual size. Are there any layout settings that I can play with to find a better fit, besides portrait and landscape?
If I select page scaling "none," I'm able to print the pdf in actual size, one page per sheet. But there's no option to add a page border.I have a test with some questions (multiple choice, FIB, matching, etc). I have just one button to submit all the answers, and after submiting the student can see his score and review the test to know where he failed. He can't answer again. However, he can change the answer multiple times before submiting.
"if i turn on success/failure captions the student will see them while answering" - before submitting
"if i turn them off he wont know what's the right answer" - after submitting
My results page is the default. I didn't use any variable. When i go to the results page after reviewing the test all the entry boxes are "wrong". -

[SOLVED] is the fsck hook needed if the systemd hook is present?
Hiya. The Wiki isn't really clear about this. There are some instructions about building a systemd based init image here, but nothing about fsck. On the silent boot page there is a entry about fsck , more specifically letting systemd check the filesy
