Can't publish my blog with iweb

I have a .mac account and prepared my first ever webpage, a blog and a photopage on the same site. Everything was more than easy, but then I couldn't publish it. The response says: Publisher Error : An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/Sites/iWeb/mylife/Blog”. I tried File/Publish All to .mac and got the same reply. I put it also to a folder (File/Publish to a folder) but I don't know what to do with it from there.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, or what I could try, help!

I got it fixed, thanks to help from another post. I had created my own nav bar and the links were to .Mac not .Me. What finally fixed it for me was:
1. Publishing all to Mobile Me.
2. Fixing my links so they linked to the .me pages.
All comments work as expected.
If others are using a CNAME this would add a new dimension to the problem. My personal domain is simply Domain Forwarding so it seems to be O.K
What a mess!

  • Can't publish my blog, new iWeb user.

    I created a blog for a trip to Europe but I can't publish it. I selected publish a the bottom of the page and I get the option to open a  mobile me account or not. If I select mobile me I'm moved to a new screen that says Apple is no longer offering mobile me. If I select no the screen goes away and I'm back at my Blog page. But I'm not published and there doesn't seem to be another way.
    Any suggestions??
    I'm using a mac book pro that I purchased in February this year. This is also my first MAC, so I'm still learning the system.

    Apple will discontinue MobileMe on June 30, 2012, and is not accepting new accounts.  Since iWeb's blog relies on the MMe server for comments by blog visitors I suggest you use a 3rd party blogging site and create your blog there. You can embed your 3rd party blog into one of your iWeb site pages as shown in this demo: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page.
    When you have your site designed and ready for publication you will need to get a 3rd party hosting site to host your site. This following will be of interest to you in that regard: Life After MobileMe.
    Also you should be aware of the following:
    It is now known that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
    On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
    Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
    All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
    I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
    There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
    Click to view full size
    However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
    It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
    Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

  • Problem publishing Photo page with iWeb 08

    Hello,
    I have a problem when publishing photo pages with iWeb 08. Upload starts and then I get the error message that iWeb encountered a problem while publishing. The funny thing is that I can see
    the photo page in Safari. The only problem is that when starting the slide show I can not see the
    forward/backward buttons. Publishing a photo page with iWeb from a .me web photo gallery works without any error message, but still when starting the slideshow the navigation buttons are not displayed. Actually if you click on the place where the navigation buttons are supposed to be,
    you can go picture forward/backward. Any idea ?

    I am having the same issue, except I do not get any error messages when publishing to a folder. Clicking on the "index" file within the folder will open the photo page in both Safari and Firefox. Everything functions as designed except no forward/backward/pause buttons are visible below the slideshow. There are text box outlines with a question mark where these buttons are supposed to be located, and I can pause, advance or reverse slides. Eventually these question mark outlines disappear and stay disappeared.
    The end result is there are no intuitive graphic indicators on the slide show to even suggest to the viewer that he/she has some control over the presentation. I don't believe I can add explanatory text boxes to the slide show to compensate for the missing icons. This lack of visible control elements in the slide show is a huge issue. I am reasonable sure the problem does not reside within my computer. I've also reviewed inspector control options for a photo page/slide show and haven't gotten any combination of check boxes to make a difference.
    I'm beginning to think this may be an unexpected conflict that was contained within a recent software update. It might well be worth a close look at programming code by Apple technicians. In the meantime, can anyone offer a clue as to what might be going on?

  • Can i publish a website with out having to pay for dotmac??

    can i publish a website with out having to pay for dotmac??

    Are you on a trial version of .Mac? If your present page is on .Mac and you have login priviledges to this account, you can upload to it via iWeb. If the site you are uploading carries the exact same name as the one that is there now, it will overwrite the existing site. Trial versions of .Mac are limited to 50MB of space.
    If you are talking about Homepage, sites created in iWeb and published to folders can be placed in your Sites folder and viewed with your homepage url; as long as they are named differently they will not overwrite one another.

    What's the problem????

    Remember that your FTP user name and password are not necessarily the same as your hosting account login ones.

  • Why blog with iweb

    o.k. since i am new to this iweb thing and blogging with it i have a question. what is the benefit of blogging with iweb? i feel like there are so many downsides to it and i am paying for this service. I could be using another blog service for free or little money and have it not be this difficult. i just feel like i am so loimited and i feel like my blog does not even work on my friends computers who are PC users and run internet explorer.
    some things i am having challenges with:
    * putting HTML in my blog. (i know it can be done but i'm told if you modify the blogs HTML code then i can cripple my commenting system)
    * changing colors of certain text in my template
    *adding photos to my blog, they seem to need to be made small before i import them otherwise i will use up my space rather quickly.
    * (this is more of a question) can i install .png files into my blog or does it have to be a .jpg? i would like to insert files that do not have the white bkg and the only way i can do that is if it is a .png file.
    those are just some of my issues for now. am i right? are these legitimate issues wth using the blog with iweb? or am i just crazy ...LOL! :P
    if there are easy ways to fix these issues i would soooooo love some help as a new iweb user.
    Also another thought was could some of these issues be fixed with leopard when it comes out? does anyone have any idea?
    that's all i have for now. i will post again if i can thing of more questions.

    Hi Dena,
    As Old Toad mentioned, iWeb can be used for many kinds of web sites. The link he gave is a great place to get a sense of what can be created. Blogging is one of the components of iWeb and blogs can be easily created. Yet, iWeb might not meet the needs of everyone.
    If one does not want to spend time under the hood of iWeb, tweaking the html, trying to create things that iWeb does not automatically do which other blogging sites and software provides, then there are other services and software available that are designed specifically and exclusively for blogging. One does not need to get "under the hood" (though most of them allow it), If you like to tinker with the "innards" you will be able to tweak your iWeb blogging site or any other of the iWeb components to meet most of your needs.
    iWeb is good at what it does, in fact it is very good at what it does. It just might not meet the needs of everyone. It is still a work in progress that provides the non html, css coder, or professionally trained designer, the chance to get on the web without the previously required knowledge of html, css etc.

  • HT5213 Can you publish to iPhone with iBooks Author?

    Can you publish to iPhone with iBooks Author?

    No, sorry.
    iBooks Author creates a hybrid epub that works on iPad only.
    Use Pages, InDesign, etc. to generate a standard epub that will work on both iPhone and iPad if that is your goal.

  • How can I publish my Blog?

    I have created a Blog site with iWeb but I have no idea how to publish it. I've been told that I need to subscribe to a service (Rss?).
    Couls someone please help me?
    Thank you!
    Martina, Rome, Italy

    Martina, do you have a domain name, e.g. www.martina.com.
    "If you don’t have a .Mac membership or if you want to store your site on a different Web server (such as one provided by your Internet service provider), you can use the Publish To A Folder command from the File menu. When you select this command, iWeb displays a Save dialog box to determine the folder in which the site is published (it defaults to the Sites folder in your home folder). Publishing to a folder is noticeably quicker than publishing to an iDisk (because the files are being created on your computer, not on a remote server). After the site is published, however, you need to use an FTP application to copy it to the remote server. Also, sites not published using .Mac have a less impressive (although still functional) slide show view for photo album pages".

  • Use iBog created blog with iWeb created web site?

    Just began playing around with iWeb, and so far, like it a lot. But I already have a published blog using iBlog. Can I import that existing blog? Do I just link to it?
    Thx,

    You can't import your iBlog created blog into iWeb, but you can create a link to it from one of your iWeb pages.

  • How do I publish my website with iweb now that mobile me is closed

    How do I publish the website i am creating with iweb now that mobile me is closed?

    You will need to find a 3rd party web host. I personally use IX Webhosting and have been happy with them for several years now.
    Depending on the version of iWeb you are using you have a couple of publishing options:
    iWeb '09 (3.0.4) you can publish to an FTP Server or a local folder. ( With the built in FTP in iWeb you will end up with an address like "www.YourDomain.com/sitename/Home.html )
    iWeb '08 you can publish your website to a local folder

  • I can't publish my site to iWeb

    it is asking me to join mobile me but my account is already in iCloud. I published a few weeks back and had no problem at all.

    iCloud does not support web hosting. You will have to find 3rd party hosting. This may be of some interest to you: Life After MobileMe.  The following discusses iWeb after MMe is discontinued:

  • Why can I not sign in with IWEB?

    I have changed my password, but I can not login to Iweb. I can with Icloud and everything else but I can not publish in Iweb?

    When you sign up for iCloud you are automatically signed out of MobileMe.  All you need to do is go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and sign back in to MMe.  There's no need to sign out of iCloud.
    Don't forget that MMe will be discontinued on June 30, 2012 so be making plans to host your site on an alternative hosting server.

  • Can't publish larger files in iWeb 09

    Hi
    Have recently updated my iWeb to 09 and had accidentally deleted my old Domaion file so had to rebuild site from scratch. Anyway, since I have, it gets stuck on pages that have any larger files on them (movie and audio files) despite having plenty of space in my MobileMe account. I get "Try again later" message.
    Have managed to publish successfully to a local folder which I then tried copying with index to 'Sites' on my iDisk but that that too presents a problem saying "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)
    I'm baffled! All I want to do is publish my site without any hassle, the files aren't that big only about 40 MB each. Can anyone suggest anything? Have had a look at iwebfaq and on here and have tried a few things but nothing seems to help so far. Any suggestions would be very gratefully received! Thanks!

    That error code is -36 ioErr I/O error. Can you publish a different site? Crate a small test site and see if it will go thru. If not then it's not just your primary site.
    If you expect to revise the site occasionally or want your visitors not to have to wait for those large files to load while the host page loads you might look at these ways to add a movie or audio file.
    Movie: QT Movies and Opening Item in New, Specially Sized Window. The code used is shown.
    Audio: Flash Audio Players - 3 different types of flash audio players. The code used is shown.
    These methods require loading the movie or audio files only once and do not load on the pages until they are played.

  • ¿How can I publish a Camera with a different UserID?

    First of all, Happy New Year 2011!
    I've tried WebcamPublisher webCamPub.publish("userPublisher") method to publish a WebCam to a room with a different user that the "myUserId" logged at the session, but the subscribers attached to the room they never receive the video. If I check the Room console I can see the new  user has been created and the camera stream assigned. If i use the normal Publisher-Subscriber example with webCamPub.publish() everything works correctly. One difference, on the normal example when I publish the Publisher, the Flash Player Configuration will ask me permision to access the Camera, but on my new code i will never be asked for this access. It looks like if a Camera start is needed to be executed. ¿What am i missing?
    Here is my specific code
               private function onCreationComplete():void
                        cSession.roomManager.autoPromote = true ;
                        cSession.roomManager.guestsHaveToKnock = false ;
                        userPub1= new UserDescriptor();
                        userPub1.userID="userPublisher";
                        userPub1.displayName="userPublisher";
                        userPub1.role=100;  //Tried also with 50 obtaining the same behaviour
                        cSession.userManager.createUser(userPub1);
                        sharedProperty = new SharedProperty();
                        sharedProperty.isSessionDependent = true ;
                        sharedProperty.sharedID = "webcamShare" ;
                        sharedProperty.connectSession = cSession ;
                        sharedProperty.subscribe();
                        sharedProperty.addEventListener(SharedPropertyEvent.CHANGE,onChange);
    I've tried to create the Publisher  on two different methods.
                private function onChange(p_evt:SharedPropertyEvent):void
                        if ( webCamPub != null ) {
                            webCamPub.close();
                            webCamPub. = null ;
                        webCamPub = new WebcamPublisher();
                        webCamPub.connectSession=cSession;
                        webCamPub.sharedID="webcamShare";
                        webCamPub.publish("userPublisher");
                private function onBtnClick(p_evt:MouseEvent):void
                        if ( p_evt.currentTarget.label == "Start" ) {
                            webCamPub.connectSession=cSession;
                            webCamPub.sharedID="webcamShare";
                            webCamPub.publish("userPublisher");
                            webCamPub.initialize();
    Here also is a part of the code of the Webcam example that is working ok.
    if ( p_evt.currentTarget.label == "Start" ) {
                            webCamPub.connectSession=cSession;
                            webCamPub.sharedID="webcamShare";
                            webCamPub.publish();

                    <mx:VBox id="vbox1" width="100%" height="15%" horizontalAlign="center" horizontalGap="5">
                                <rtc:WebcamSubscriber id="ws1" webcamPublisher="{webCamPub}" width="100%" height="100%" publisherIDs="{[(rp.currentItem as UserDescriptor).userID]}" click="onClick(event)" userBooted="onBooted(event)" streamChange="onCameraPause(event)"/>
                            <mx:Button id="b1" label="Start"  click="onBtnClick(event)"  visible="{(rp.currentItem as UserDescriptor).userID==cSession.userManager.myUserID}" />

                    </mx:Repeater>
                </mx:HBox>
        </mx:Panel>
    </rtc:ConnectSessionContainer>
    I can attach my complete code if you think is usefull. Thanks in advance.
