Can't register my iPad mini Retina with Apple Support

When I try to register my iPad mini with the Apple Support in my profile page, it says that my serial number is already registered to another Apple ID, and to check to see if I've got any other IDs. I ordered this directly from Apple when it was released, and it had never been opened. I contacted Apple, and their records show that it's registered to me. But I'd like to register it online so I can submit questions and any maintenance requests, which I can't do because I can't register it. Has anyone else had this problem?

I tried. They said their records showed that the iPad was registered to my Apple ID. They had no explanation why my serial number couldn't be registered. Felt I was getting the run around so I thought I'd toss it out to the community.

    You want to just use Dropbox until the dust settles.  To use it from iWork for iOS (assuming you have the Dropbox app installed on your device), open the document in Keynote (for example), tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), choose Open in Another App, choose Keynote as your format, then choose Open in Dropbox and you will get an option to save it to your Dropbox account.  To open it from Dropbox in iWork for iOS, open the document in the Dropbox app, tap the share icon, tap Open in Keynote (for example).  It's a bit clunky, but works.

    I use the i-Blason Cushion Sleeve. The iPad Mini fits great and there is a little zipper pouch for a charger and stylus.

    Thanks for that. Yes, the ipad was purchased recently. I called Apple last Friday and they ask for the receipt. I wonder if anyone were able to swap their ipad for a larger storage in the past at the apple store without a receipt? 16Gb is such a small storage.

    The only way I know of is to copy the entire content of your chat window (while it is still active) and then paste it into a text document (or, if it is short enough to fit the window without scrolling, take a screenshot). Once you terminate the chat, the record is gone (as far as I know).

  • IPad Mini Retina - unrecognized apple id email account pop up

    I recently purchased a brand new iPad Mini Retina to replace a previous iPad Mini.  During the initial installation process, I was prompted to enter my Apple ID.  The pop was pre-populated with another person's email id.  At first, I assumed this was just a sample id to help new Apple device owners to get started.  However, this same id has been showing up on other times when I tried to purchase or install a new iPad app on this new device.  Lately, from time to time, the Apple id login would pop up with this same email id prompting me for a password even if I'm not purchasing or installing anything.  With my curiosity aroused, I sent an email to this address and explained my reason for my inquiry.  The person did respond and acknowledged my question but informed me that he had not owned an iPad mini, however, did not verify if he has ever owned an Apple device or purchased from the Apple store.  My only conclusion at this point is that perhaps the device shipped to me as a refurbished item?  Would you expect that if you Reset a device any previously entered Apple ID would be wiped out?  I purchased my device from a reputable Mac dealer and is supposed to be a brand new device.  If I can determine this is a refurb, then I would like to return it for a refund or a new device.
    I would appreciate any advice, suggestions, ideas, or comments.

    You can see the model number in Settings>General>About>Model. The model number has a two-letter code, a number and some more letters. The last part stands for the country/region. The first letter can be "F" (refurbished), "M" (normal retail), or "P" (personalized / engraved). For example MC605B is the model MC605 and B is for the region. (The model number is also on the box.)
    Take the iPad back to the store.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Installed Yosemite om my MacBook Air, resulted in no Sound at all. No input devices no output devices. What can  do? Have had 2 meetings with Apple support with no results.

    Recently, I installed Yosemite on my MacBook Air. After that I had no sound. Not even the start up chime. In Sound preferences there are no input devices and no output devices. I have had three meetings with Apple support with no results. Can anyone help? This seems to be a regular problem.

    Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
         Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
         COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
         computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
         screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
                because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.

I am looking to use it as a communication device for  student with severe special needs, who would need to have access to it at all times.     There are not many cases available at this time with a strap for iPad mini.  I am an Augmentative Communication Consultant and am very familiar with your quest.  Right now, your best option may be a Griffin Survivor, GumDrop Drop Tech or Otterbox Defender within a ChatBag.  I have a very large Pinterest site dedicated to AAC and Assisitive Technology and Special Education with a large focus on iOS apps and accessories as well as AAC supports.  You can find it here.  www.pinterest.com/lasenders  The options I just mentioned are on my board of iPad mini cases. The only other case with a strap thus far is the Sherpa Carry for iPad mini, but that is not super rugged.

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.   • Ipad mini retina and Apple TV

    I just got a retina Ipad mini a little over a week ago and an Apple TV (3) yesterday. When I turned on mirroring on my 1080p TV I get black bars on either side and a slightly narrower image on the TV. I figured this is due to the different aspect rations of the Ipad (2048x1536) and the max resolution of the display (1920x1080). I've tried using the TV (Sony XBR2) screen adjustments but can't get a full screen without zooming - which of course, cuts off the edges of the display. The only solution appears to be getting a newer TV that can handle the higher Ipad resolution but that would involve having to get a new TV. Are there any other options short of replacing my TV with one that does the higher res?

    No. There are some apps that allow you to control the laptop remotely from an iPad, however, but that doesn't sound like what you need.

    I can't work out how to sync my New 'Mini iPad Retina'.     Any one or a combo may help.
    Give your mini a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot. Then try again.
    Try a different USB port
    Try a different cable
    Is your iTUnes up to date? If not, update it.
    If that doesn't work, (if you're on a PC) go into the control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall iTunes, Apple mobile device service, apple application support. THen redownload and reinstall iTunes and give it another try.

    Yes it will work. iPads work world wide. LTE works in only some countries including Saudi Arabia. http://www.apple.com/ipad/LTE/
    If you can't get an LTE connection it will fall back to 3G.
