Can't Remove Office 2004 Test Drive from new MBP C2D.

I received my new MBP C2D yesterday. I'm trying to remove Office 2004 Test Drive so I can install the full version. When I run the the Remove Office application it posts a log on the desktop that indicates that it located the Office 2004 Test Drive folder, but when I get to the Results page of the Remove Office application it does not show me the option to remove the folder. When I click continue it says: "You have not chosen to remove any Microsoft Office items." Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there any other way to remove the Test Drive? Please help!

I installed the office 2004 software, and at the end of the installation it will give you the option to uninstall the test drive software. Good luck.

  • Need help REMOVING Office 2004 Test Drive

Can someone please help? I'm about to install Office 2004..... the install instructions say to FIRST remove "Office 2004 Test Drive" if it's on your computer. (Test Drive appears to be a sample of Office).
The Office Test Drive folder is on my computer.....however, I have never launched anything in it.
Per instructions, I did try to use the "Remove" program (inside the Test Drive folder).
All went well, except when "Remove" did its search, nothing showed up. Hence, when clicking "continue," I got a message that I had not removed anything.... new choices being "go back" or "quit."
Meanwhile, the Remove program DID generate a text file on my desktop "Remove Office log.txt" - which shows:
    Found these items:
    OFC2004TDFOLDERS: /Applications/Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive
Unfortunatley, this information does not show up in the "Remove" program, so I cannot instruct "Remove" to remove it. (which seems a bit odd, I know, but there you have it.)
    QUESTION ....
    Am I ignoring the obvious?
Since I have never launched anything in the "Office 2004 Test Drive" folder, might this mean that none of the apps are actually installed on this computer?
If so..... does this mean I can simply drag the entire "Test Drive" folder into the trash, empty trash, and all will be gone?
Then, safely install the actual Office 2004 CD?

It seems to me that when I did that I inserted the
new Office CD and using the uninstaller on the CD
    removed the Test Drive.
    Thanks for your help, Al.
When I insert the Office CD, I don't see an uninstaller....at least not immediately visible. All I see are 2 options:
    Office Setup Assistant (recommended)
    or
the Office folder which you can just drag to the hard drive to install all components.
Do you think the 'uninstaller' is in that first "Setup Assistant" option?
And if so.....what concerns me is that if it doesn't work (i.e., behaves like the "Remove" I've already tried to use)....will I still have the option of quitting, and going back and just dragging that folder to trash before continuing in the Setup Assistant?
Logic tells me that you're right....that by never having launched anything, none of the components of Office Test Drive are actually installed....no users or preferences or anything created. So probably I can just drag that folder to the trash. Problem is, I have very little faith/confidence/ that MY logic is anywhere near the same "logic" of Microsoft.
(am quite sure I fit the Apple profile....cause I definitely "think different.")
I'm wondering if the better part of wisdom might be to go ahead and trash that Test Drive folder.....then proceed with the Office Setup Assistant....and if an uninstall shows up in there, using it "just in case" anything was left behind? Sound reasonable to you?

  • Microsoft Office 2004 Test Drive Question

    Hello all,
Please forgive me if this is the wrong forum, but I'm looking for help here... or possibly somebody has a forum elsewhere where I might ask this question:
I have recently purchased a brand new Macbook Pro.
    I installed Office 2004 (Student/Teacher Edition).
When I double-click on a document created by Word (from my PC that I transferred over), instead of my "real" Word 2004 opening the document... I get the Office 2004 Test Drive opening it...and a warning saying "I have 29 days remaining until it expires".
My question is: How can I either remove the Office 2004 Test Drive and/or get it so that my document is opened with the "real" Office, instead of the test drive?
As I said, I apologize if this is the wrong forum... but if you can please a) direct me to the correct forum or b) help me out with a link... I'd VERY much appreciate it.
    Thanks very much!

If you installed (used) the Trial version of Office then merely dragging the folder to the Trash won't do the trick. You will instead have to run the Office Uninstaller (in the /Office 2004/Additional Tools/Remove Office/ folder) and completely remove both the Trial and the licensed version of Office including preferences. Then reinstall your licensed version. This is the only sure way of avoiding any conflicts between the two versions.

  • New Mac Mini + Office 2004 Test Drive

Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, but I'll give it a shot...
I bought a new Mac Mini a few weeks ago. I just downloaded a Word document from my e-mail and it opened up Office 2004 Test Drive automatically... I agreed to the User Agreement, opened up my Word document, yada yada...
Now, however, it bugs me that this is trial software and I have 30 days to evaluate it. Thing is I actually own Office 2004 and just never got around to installing it on my Mac Mini yet...
So what is the proper way to install it? Do I need to remove Office Test Drive 2004 first, or do I just run the installer off the Office 2004 DVD? What are the proper steps I need to take?
    Thank you,
    Keith

    Remove MS Office Test Drive
On your hard disk, open Microsoft Office 2004 folder that contains the Test Drive. Any documents you saved in the Microsoft Office 2004 Test Drive should be moved somewhere in your documents folder.
In the Microsoft Office 2004 folder, double-click "Remove Office". In the Results window, choose Microsoft Office 2004 (including Test Drive) and then click "continue" and follow the prompts.

  • Removing Office Test Drive from new iMac

I purchased Office 2004 with my new iMac. The installation instructions inform me to remove "...any Preview or Test Drive versions....". My attempts to uninstall the Test Drive have failed. The "boxes" I am instructed to check are not there. I have searched for hours on this and the MicroSoft site to find an answer to this dilemma. Did I miss the solution in my search?

Just drag the "Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive" folder
to the trash - empty it - and install the new
    software.
Just to add a bit here: this should work if you've never actually run the Test Drive version. Until you've actually run the Test Drive, nothing has been installed for the uninstaller to find.
Once you've run the Test Drive version at least once, it'll install all of its libraries and fonts and stuff all over the hard drive, just like any other program. Then you'll need the uninstaller.
This page has more information that might be helpful.

  • Can't get iCloud to work properly from new MBP.

I recently bought a new MBP and gave my old one to my wife. I deleted the calendar and contact info from my old MBP since she didn't need it. Only I didn't realize that it would also delete all the information from my new MBP that I had initialized from a Time Machine back-up.
But now, I can't get thinks back to normal. I had recently upgraded my old MBP to Mavericks, so I posted my questions there on the assumption that the problem was with Mavericks. I now think the problem is with iCloud, so I'm posting here as well.
Here's my tale of woe ...
First, I tried restoring my back-ups, but the restored info would literally disappear with 2-3 seconds of being reloaded. I sat there and watched my contacts appear, then disappear. Three times. The Mavericks folks made some suggestions about deleting files from the Application Support Folder. No help. Same results. Watched my contacts load and then disappear 3 more times.
So I decided to start more-or-less from scratch. I deleted my iCloud account from both my MBP and my iPad. I then reloaded my calendar and my contacts from the back-ups on my MBP. Everything fine so far. All calendar items are there. All contacts are there.
I re-added the iCloud account on my MBP. Still okay. Contacts and calendar info still there. However, System Preferences would not allow me to check the box next to "calendar." It said "setting up" then stopped and unchecked the Calendar box. I am also unable to enable the iCloud account within Calendar preferences.
I re-added my account on my iPad. No calendar info, but that didn't surprise me because the calendar wouldn't connect from my Mac.
But the Contacts on the iPad included ONLY those contacts that I had added from the previous recipients window after my last back-up. None of the contacts that had come from my previous back-up were there even though they were on my MBP. So I tried unchecking the box in System Preferences. All of my contacts disappeared from my MBP. None disappeared from my iPad.
So at this point, my iPad becomes a games machine. I can't get my contacts to it. I can't my calendar to it. Email is no good without my contacts.

The iCloud Calendar  and Time Machine don't play nice together. If you accidentally delete your calendars,  they are deleted on iCloud: you restore the cached versions from TM, and iCloud promptly brings them up to date by deleting them again.
However it is possible to restore from Time Machine (or another backup system if it's included your calendars) by following the following steps:
Turn off your internet connection. Make sure that it really is completely off.
Restore from Time Machine or your backup. This should restore your calendars to list under your iCloud username.
Now carry out this process with each calendar:
Select a calendar listed under your iCloud login name.
From the File menu choose Export...>Export. An .ics file will be saved at your designated destination.
Create a new calendar with the same name as the one you've just exported from, choosing 'On My Mac'.
From the File menu choose Import... Select the .ics file and choose to import it into the calendar you just created (make sure you don't import it into the iCloud version).
Now your calendars are listed under 'On My Mac' as well as under your iCloud login name.
Reconnect to the internet. Your iCloud calendars will disappear as before. Now carry out the following process with each of the 'On My Mac' calendars:
Select your 'On My Mac' calendar. From the File menu choose 'Export...' then 'Export...'; from the sub-menu. This will create an .ics file at the location chosen in the Export dialog.
From the File menu choose 'New Calendar' then your iCloud login name in the sub menu.
A new calendar called 'Untitled' will appear in your sidebar under your iCloud login name. Change its name to that of the calendar you exported.
From the File menu choose 'Import...' then 'Import...' from the sub-menu. A navigation pane will open: navigate to and choose your exported .ics file.
iCal will ask you where to import this to. Click the drop-down menu and select the iCloud version of your calendar (make sure not to choose the 'On My Mac' version). Import.
Your calendar contents will appear in the iCloud version of the calendar but this may take some time. You need to leave iCal running until the rotating icon at the top of the sidebar disappears.
You can now delete the 'On My Mac' version of the calendar (control-click it in the sidebar list and choose 'Delete').
You should back up your calendars periodically by exporting the .ics files as in step 1 above and keeping them safely.

  • Can I turn my old hard drive from a MBP A1150 into an external?

    It recently died on me.
And after doing some googling I found its a $800 fix...
I am currently using a newer macbook pro and wanted to get my old files off of the A1150.
A1150- Would not power on, would attempt to...but then the light at the front of it would flicker and then the unit would completely cut off.
It was not the power supply. I know this.
Either way, I need all my old files back off of it...and I've taken it apart and the hard drive doesnt seem to be compadible with the USB 2.0 IDE or SATA Drive Adapter I purchased...
Anyone have any ideas? It would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    -Christina.

Before SATA became standard on laptops/notebooks.....
They all used IDE drives (ATA/PATA) the connection is as wide as the hard drive themselves.
That's why I told him to get an IDE external enclosure.....Might be a little harder to find but they do exist.

  • Changing MS Office (test drive) from default word processor

Sorry for sucking up so much topic space, but I spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out how to change my legitimate MS word 2004 to the default word processor from the test drive version that comes on the MBP. Everytime I click on a MS word file I get an error message because I deleted the test drive version that was set as the default to open the word documents--how do i change this???
Any ideas? Seriously, I googled it and everything, it must be more simple than this!

    Hi seagonus,
If you have removed the test drive from your computer, and now have the full version of Office installed, highlight the file, click on the More Info tab to the right. A box will open that will have a drop down that says "open with" . In the list you will see the option for Microsoft Word (default). If this doesn't work, then you haven't truly removed the test drive, and that could be the problem. If so run the uninstaller again that comes in your MS Office folder under "Additional Tools". Good luck!

How does one remove temporary files from Safari?  A friend logged on to her Facebook account using my iMac running Mac OSX 10.7.5 and Safari 6.1.6.  Now I can't remove her e-mail address from my computer.  When I open Facebook her address shows in the user button.  I do not have a Facebook account.  It was suggested to me that I try clearing temporary files from Safari but I can't find anything that tells me how to do this.  Are temporary files the same as the cache?  It also was suggested that I try clearing Safari cache.  How do I do that?

Check Safari/Preferences/Passwords to see if the Facebook account is there. If so, select it and remove it. If you are still having problems, Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari.

  • HT1918 Hi, I have registered at apple site, and i have submitted the credit card information, they deducted some ammount without my permission, why they did that? how can i remove my credit card details from that site or deactivate my account?

Hi, I have registered at apple site, and i have submitted the credit card information, they deducted some ammount without my permission, why they did that? how can i remove my credit card details from that site or deactivate my account?

    From that HT3702 page :
If you update your billing information, the iTunes Store or Mac App Store will place an authorization hold on your payment card account, usually in the amount of 1 USD or the local currency equivalent, to verify your account information.
You might see authorization requests on your online statement. These requests aren't actual charges; they are tests to confirm that your payment card account is active and has available funds to accommodate transactions. Authorization holds are removed by your financial institution shortly after your purchase clears. The time it takes to remove authorization requests varies by financial institution.
The number of days that it takes to diappear varies by bank, but it's usually a few days - though with the weekend coming up it might take an extra day or two

It happens on Mac App Store & iPhone App store as well.
So clearly the problem is on my Apple ID..
I've changed my credit card details on my Apple ID but it doesn't reflect onto my phone when I login after restarting the phone. Even if i sign out.
When it reaches the part where I would need to verify my phone after entering my password. It just keeps requesting for my password and never shows me anything.
If I click update apps it'll just disable my account. Even on my Mac App store same thing happening.

  • HT1918 how can I remove my credit card info from itunes?

how can I remove my credit card info from itunes?!

Follow the instructions in the support article from which you came and select "none" as the payment method. If you don't see a "none" option, you may have an outstanding balance that you owe. If you've been using a true credit card that's unlikely, but if you've been using a prepaid "credit" card or a debit card where there is a balance, it's a possibility.

    - Note that apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
