Can't Save Application State in Acrobat X Pro

There once was a time that I could close Acrobat X Pro with various and sundry pdfs open and upon reopening the application, those selfsame documents would reappear. This is no longer the case, and I have no idea what has changed.
I am using Acrobat X Version 10.1.10 on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63).
I tried removing the folder com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.savedState in an attempt to reset the closing behavior of the program, but that didn't help.
Any ideas?

Hi David,
1. Please check the permission on com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.savedState folder.
2. Go to Acrobat -> Preferences -> General (Category) -> make sure that "Show Welcome Screen" option is checked.

Anoop

Nothing should be lost... However... it is both Prudent and Recommended that a backup should have been created and maintained.

where can i find a download for acrobat x pro, i lost a hard drive and i am trying to get everything back ?

You will still need your SN. As long as you registered, you can just add a tab in your browser and go to Adobe.com. In the upper right corner there should be a welcome with your name. Move to the small down arrow and select My Products and Services. That should give you your SN of the products that have been registered. Please make a backup of your download and SN for the future. If you had an upgrade version, you will also need the SN of the qualifying product.

The Education version isn't any different than the regular version.  Try downloading it from here and then apply the serial number you were given.

  • HELP: How can I save page state on UIX page...

    I have a fallowing situation:
    1. I create UIX application with Wizard based on one ViewObject
    2. When I get a page with ViewObject in table style I travers up and down through records and make some updates and create new records
    3. But when I go back from update and create pages I always get initial browesing page.
My question is: how can I save state of browsing page when I return to it from update and create or any other page (save position look hide/show mode or anything else)?
I try to use StateManager class but I faild.
Can anybody help me or describe how can I do it on one example?
    Thanks!

    Attila,
Sounds as though you want to remember the interactive state of your pages across requests.
That means you'll need to store the interactive state of your pages in something like the HttpSession that has a lifecycle spanning across multiple requests.
If you make your pages interactive using the HttpSession, then, when you navigate back from another page, they should still be in the state you left them.
The built-in data provider name for the HttpSession in uiXML is ctrl:httpSession. Use this to data bind the interactive attributes of your page, such as the disclosed attribute of HideShow.
In your event handlers, update the HttpSession to make your page interactive.
Be careful to use different keys to store information in the HttpSession for different pages.

  • Method to save application state just before quit

I am using the user preferences to save the state of my game so that when a user goes away and comes back, it comes back at the same place they left. However, I am saving to this every turn. Is there a better way of doing this. Putting it in the applicationWillTerminate method maybe? If so, I'm not quite sure how to accomplish it there. Can anyone give any advice on this?
    Thanks.

I made it work by setting up the MainViewController as a class and a variable in the Application Delegate. Then once the MainViewController was established, I called a method I put into the Application Delegate to set that variable to "self" (meaning MainViewController instance). Finally, in the applicationWillTerminate method of the Application Delegate, I used that variable to call the save method in the MainViewController.
Perhaps this is difficult to follow without seeing the code, but does this sound overly complicated, or about right?
    Thanks.

  • Can't Make PDF's with Acrobat 9 Pro on Windows XP Pro

I just recently installed Acrobat 9 with the CS4 suite and can't make a PDF from either my scanner or MS Word. It says that my scanner can't do "Presets" and I don't see how I can change that. And Acrobat just tries for about ten minutes to make a PDF from a Word document and then says there's an error. I can't save to the Adobe PDF printer either.
I'm about ready to reinstall Acrobat 6 so I can make PDF's - this is crazy. Is there a way that I can get Acrobat 9 to at least accept my scanner? It's an older HP 4-in-1 machine.

Maybe you misunderstand. The standard output for the Adobe PDF printer it the PDF Port. That is indeed a print to a file (a PS file) and then Distiller is activated in the background to finish converting the file to a PDF. By print to file, I mean the print-to-file check box on the print screen. That will allow you to print to a PS file, though it may have an extension of PRN. You can then open that file in Distiller to complete the conversion. If that works, then your problem is likely that AcroTray is not running in the background.
AcroTray must be active for normal printer operation. When it fails you should still be able to print-to-file and then open the file in the Distiller to complete the process. That was my point and I am not sure that is what you have done. If it is, then I apologize for beating the point to death. The print-to-file is not the same as the PDF creation.

  • Can't move layers in Mac Acrobat 9 Pro

I can't move layers in Acrobat 9 Pro, even though Adobe says it's possible. All that I get is a circle wih a slash at the cursor on clicking and holding the mouse, indicating that moving the layer up or down in the stack is not possible. No key presses help either. Four attempts to get a definitive answer from Adobe Support yield only that they said it was possible. They also admitted that even if you did move a layer, it would not affect how the layer objects display, ie. whether above or below other layer's objects!
Has anyone been successful in moving a layer?
Relatedly, one (Windows) respondent says she can "position" a new layer upon Layer Import, but the Mac dialog makes no mention of the layer stack, just the X-Y coordinates on the PDF page....
Thanks for any help or thoughts,
    fss

Thanks guys for responding. I went through the usual steps of trashing preferences, shutting down the computer, going home, and drinking a beer. I got in this morning and booted her up, and now everything works just as it should.
No idea what it was. I'm positive that the tracks weren't locked, and I'm 95% sure that I was in arrow mode (I was selecting the layer right before trying to move it.)
I don't know what it was, but I hope it never happens again.
    Thanks again,
    Nathan

  • How can I execute an action in Acrobat XI Pro using PowerPoint VBA?

I am using Acrobat XI Pro and PowerPoint that came with Office 2013 running on Windows 8.
I have an action in the Action Wizard that executes JavaScript code. It works fine when I click Tools | Action Wizard | Actions | <my script>, and Start in Acrobat XI Pro.
I would like to be able to execute the same action using VBA in PowerPoint. Is this action considered a "menu item" in Acrobat? If so then I understand I can use AcroApp.MenuItemExecute to execute a menu item. What "menu item name" should I use? If not, is there another way to execute the same action using VBA in PowerPoint?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    John

No, it isn't a menu item. This area is a little complex, but it's the things which are, or which used to be on the menu. I don't think that there is a way to automate running actions, and I think this is entirely deliberate. However, there is an interface to execute JavaScript code, which is described in the Acrobat SDK.

  • Can't register my paid for acrobat X Pro Mac

have my serial number. serial number upgrade window says " this serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please choose the one you own and enter it''s serial number." Well, that's all I can do! I upgraded to Yosemite, and reinstalled the Acrobat x pro from the download window on the adobe site. It installed smoothly but I can't use it because I can't register it. Now what?

The serial number is an upgrade. You just need to prove you are eligible (qualified) to use the upgrade. You do that by using the serial number of the OLDER product when asked. So you enter BOTH serials. Be sure to keep them both forever, along with archiving the downloaded installer, since there is no guarantee you'll be able to download it again to reinstall.

  • Can anyone help about updating error-Acrobat 9 Pro

    Hi all,
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, SP2.  In the past, I have had issues with error 1601 - Windows installer could not be accessed - when trying to update Acrobat 9 Pro.  I then uninstalled SP2, and everything updated in Acrobat just fine.  That was about 9 months ago.  since then, updates have been fine in Acrobat.  Now that 9.4.7 has arrived, I am getting the same error.  I have installed 9.4.6 and everthing seemed fine.  Can anyone direct me to getting this resolved?  I am not willing to uninstall SP2 - it just takes too long to reinstall.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kevin

There are many reasons why "automatic" updates may not work
The usual fix is to download and install the updates manually
All Adobe updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install updates in number order, or if the updates are cumulative for the individual product http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

  • Can I add encryption security using Acrobat 9 Pro?

I heard this can be done using Adobe Acrobat X Pro, I don't have this one installed, I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, is it possible to use this type of Acrobat for this type of encription?
    Thanks

It is possible with Acrobat 9.

  • Can't Edit a PDF in Acrobat X Pro

Hi! I am BRAND new to Acrobat. I bought Acrobat X Pro and I am trying to edit an existing PDF form (which I didn't create).  I watched the tutorials and I am able to bring it over to Acrobat but I can't edit it.  There is only a FORMS option to the upper right hand side.  Where are the Tools, Comment and Share menus that I see on the Abode TV videos?  Can someone please help me out? I have about 8 of these pdf forms that I need to edit.

First check that the form is not secured (ctrl-D > security). If it is protected you are up a creek. Assuming it is not, then you should be able to select the Tools menu (top right below the menu bar) and select the forms in that menu (I am assuming that AAX is similar to AAXI). In AA9, there is a forms menu on the menu bar. These are the tools for AcroForms (not Designer forms).
You would select to edit the fields. If that is not possible, then it is likely a Designer form. I think you can look at the document properties under ctrl-D to determine the produce that produced the file. It should indicate Designer or Live-Cycle if that is what produced the form. If it was Designer, then open the form in Designer to edit the form.

    Hey dirk.samyn,
Could you please clarify whether you need to update Acrobat or upgrade your Creative Suite as both terms are quite different.
You might navigate to the below mentioned link discussing on an upgrade from CS4 to CS6:
