Can't save proxies settings

Well my problem is simple to explain, but really hard to understand.
As the title sugests I can't save the proxies' settings. I need the proxies to be configures in a certain way to have internet in my college campus. I'm able to connect to the campus' wireless network and enter the college's sites because they are in their own server, but i need the proxies to be configured with a name and a port (that I know) to be able to surf the internet.
The problem is that when i enter network preferences, advanced, proxies, configure manually or with PAC file, i then it OK, Apply, and even close the lock so that it requeires password to change settings, but right next i click advanced and nothing was saved...
I can't understand if i'm doing something wrong or if this is a bug. I'm using the latest version of Leopard in a MacBook. Any help is apreciated

Are you using the "Automatic" location?
If so, create a new location first (call it College) through:
System Preferences -> Network -> Location -> Edit Locations...
Once you have created the new location, you will be able to save your Proxy Settings. Whenever you go to college, you then need to simply select: Apple menu -> Location -> College, and your settings will be picked up automagically.
Cheers,
Rodney

How can I save the settings of my iPhone 4 before resetting the phone in addition to saving the apps etc. by synchronisation with i-tunes

All the phone settings are save in the backup which is automatically created when you sync the phone.

Please clarify what you mean by "resetting" the phone. When you reset the phone, no data is deleted.  Do you actually mean Restore the phone?  See the User Guide, Appendix B for the correct terminology,

  • Can you save print settings with a PDF?

I have an 8.5"x14" PDF. Is there anyway to save default print settings with this PDF so if a user opens it on their machine it defaults to printing to 8.5"x14" paper? Right now it always defaults to the standard 8.5"x11". I'm not sure this can be done because it seems like more of a specific users machine thing. I don't think you can save print settings with a PDF can you?
    Thanks!

The "auto-formatting" of a hardcopy print format is generally the realm of the output device, in this case the printer. Printer software gereally includes an auto-format feature that selects the proper bin. For those who only have a "letter" tray, it usually asks to feed the right format manually, or switch trays. This is not a PDF feature but an output device feature.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't Save CoreCenter Settings...

CoreCenter overclocked my 3200+ nicely, but even after I "save" the settings they are lost the next time I start up my computer.  Is there a switch in the BIOS that I need to set before the CoreCenter can save the setting permanently?

Quite a few users experienced that same problem, and resorted to just making the comparable settings in BIOS...then saving. I'm not sure if any BIOS upgrades cured that bug.

  • WRT160N V3 - Can't Save Any Settings in Router Utility

Hello, I've had this router for about 6 months with no problems, but now when I go to the utility and try to save any settings, I get a "page not found".  I've upgraded to the newest firmware, and done a hard reset and started all over, but I still have this problem.  Please someone help as this is driving me crazy!  I'm using safar in OS X Leopard.  I appreciate any help any one can provide!

  • Can you save system settings scratch disks locations for each project?

When you begin a new project in FCE you need to set the System Settings Scratch Disks. Typically you would set a new folder for each project to keep all of your files for each project in one location for that project.
I have a couple of FCE projects going at the same time. I've set each project with a different system setting scratch disk location. But if I open a project which should have a unique scratch disk location folder that I've already set before for that project, it ignores the setting I set for that project and just shows the scratch disk setting for the last project opened instead. It does not appear to save or remember the unique setting for that project.
If you have multiple projects going at the same time, is there a way to save the systems settings scratch disk location for each project and have FCE remember that location for each project?

I turned off the Open Last Project on Application Launch in the User Preferences and it still does not remember the unique scratch disk settings for each project.
Since it is quite common to be working on multiple projects simultaneously, you would think that there would be a way in which to save the settings for each project to help keep all related files better organized.
    Any other suggestions?

  • How can i save my settings configuration

is there a way to save the browser config. so i can try the updated version & revert to the older if i decide without having to redo all the pref.settings/addons/plugins etc...
(or is there a "config" file i can copy? where would it be located?)
thx for ur time & replies
    Ray

If you want to backup your preferences, you have to look in a hidden folder in your profile for prefs.js
In windows try ->Documents and Settings -> Mozilla -> Firefox -> Profiles
copy this to your backup location or a USB memory device if you want to put it into a different computer

  • Can't save DNS settings - 'Reset'

    Hi everybody,
I've been trying for a day to setup my DNS to my server (PowerMac G4 running Leopard Server 10.5.4)
So, I would like to add a primary zone, a machine (the server) and a reverse DNS.
I can do this (is appears in the list) but when I click 'save', all the settings I made disappearing (well, not exatcly, it only reset all machines/aliases and reverse settings) but I keep the primary zone (if I add a nameserver, click save... the nameserver is not saved/the machine is not created)
I don't know what I did wrong. I also found a '101' about DNS in Leopard Server... I did the same as the '101'.
In my system log, I found this:
+Jul 17 13:41:39 server servermgrd[186]: servermgr_dns: Failed to save zone 'null.' because the zone does not have a nameserver.+
I don't have a 'null' zone! I've got a tucpasquic.com. zone (it is in the list) and it is kept when I save (tucpasquic.com. is my primary zone)
Is there something to do to reset all the DNS settings?

    Hi again,
so, I didn't find why it didn't work... but:
I created a new zone with the same name of the 'bugged' zone, and it worked, don't ask me why!
Anyway, I've got a successfull message in changeip:
+The names match. There is nothing to change.+
This was the only thing I wanted!

  • BEFW11S4 Can't Save Certain Settings

Ok here's the deal. My parents bought this BEFW11S4 back when i was in grade school and used it at our old house. I'm about to be a senior in highschool and i do play some Games. The game i'm having trouble with is Warcraft 3. I need to be able to open port 6112 so i can host on this game. I can type in all the info i need but when i hit save settings it asks for Username/password..... So i enter in the user/pass that is used to get ON to the router.. and it doesn't work.. Kinda frustrated and i'm thinkin about just chucking this router out and going out to buy a new one never to buy linksys again..

Update your firmware here, Now log into your router and go the administrative tab and locate update firmware once you have found the file where you downloaded it to click update.
After that is done updating hold the reset button down for 30 seconds and then unplug the power cable for 1 minute.
Your router will now be factory defaults, Configure your router again with all you desired information and try opening the ports again.
    GoodLuck
    Matt

  • How can i save job settings in Capture Perfect per computer and not only per user?

    Hi
I got a production computer with capture perfect 3.0
Is there a version where the job settings are saved per computer and not per user?
This is a problem when i am creating  scanner jobs everybody on the computer should be able to use.
    TJ

  • Netboot users can't save environment settings?

I'm setting up an Xserve and a group of iMac workstations, all running Snow Leopard. I was hoping I could use Netboot to allow any user to log into his/her account from any workstation and see his/her personalized user environment (desktop pattern, Dock items, etc.)
I set up one iMac with generic versions of all the user accounts, imaged its disk, converted that into a Netboot disk image, and configured Netboot to serve that image. Everything works fine in the sense that I can boot any workstation via Netboot, log into a user account, and get work done.
But if I do any customization (change my desktop, add an item to the Dock, save a document in my Documents folder, etc.) it only stays that way during my session. If I log out and then back in again (from the same or another workstation) my user environment has gone back to the generic version, and any documents I saved are gone.
Is there something I've got set incorrectly, or am I just misunderstanding the capabilities of Netboot? I had thought/hoped that individual user customization settings would get saved in the NetbootClients0 directory and then would be available whenever that user logged in, regardless of what workstation s/he was using... but that doesn't seem to be happening.

I don't want to get involved with mobile homes because of that formaldehyde problem that FEMA had with theirs
Seriously, I had thought that the shadow-file mechanism in Netboot should have let users customize their environments without having to modify the Netboot image itself, by storing the customization data in a writable directory. But no...?
Since posting my original question, I have gotten some improvement by unchecking the "Diskless" option in the Netboot settings pane. Now if I customize my user environment on one workstation, the customization stays in place when I log in again +on that specific workstation.+
But if I log in on another workstation, the customization settings are still at the defaults, or at whatever I set them to last time on that workstation. I'm still not able to log in on multiple workstations and see the same customized environment. The Windows PCs in our group are set up to work this way, and the users expect their Macs to operate the same way.
I'd be willing to do this via server-based home folders if someone would direct me to a clear explanation of how to set this up so it interacts with Netboot.

  • Setting up HP LaserJet Pro P1102w for wireless but can not save wireless settings

This printer worked fine on wireless with my last TWC modem/router, but I have tried for hours to set it up with a new one and it simply will not let me. USB works fine, but when I follow the instructions found here: OS X Yosemite Wireless. I choose Method three at this link: Method three: Wireless setup using a USB connection. Here is what happens after this:
    1. I downloaded the latest Apple HP drivers on my iMac (HPPrinterDrivers3.0.dmg).
    2. Clicked Apple Software Updates to ensure I had the latest.
    3. Turned on the printer
    4. Has paper and is in ready mode with no flashing lights
    5. Plugged USB from printer into iMac
    6. Followed HP instructions: Systems Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Clicked on the P1102w printer which was already on the list > Open Print Queue > Open Printer Utility > HTML Config... > Network Tab > Wireless (confirmed it was enabled, I refreshed the network names and added my wireless network, added my wireless network password) > Apply.
This is where everything crashes. After clicking Apply, the page will show up blank, the HTML will be messed up, or I will receive a message that says:
Safari can’t open the page “http://;ocalhost:5050/cgi-bin/ip_wireless_result.htm”. The error is: “cannot parse response” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1017)
I have tried other Chrome and Firefox and got similar results. At this point, I am out of options based on the HP support sites that I have found. One HP site said to uninstall the HP software located in Libraries > Printers, so I did this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi @txrun,
I see that you are experiencing issues setting up the printer on the new router. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. Sometime the Embedded Web Server won't open or will error out, if it isn't. Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Restore printer defaults first and then run the HTML again. You may need to delete and add the printer again into the Printers and Scanners to be able to open the HTML again.
Restore defaults: Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print a configuration page to make sure the old network settings are cleared. Printing a Configuration Page.
If you are still having issues, please check these settings on the router.
The printer is only capable of sending/receiving in the 2.4Ghz band.
If it is set to 5 GHZ network you may need to change to 2.4 GHZ. (rename the 5ghz or shut it off)
The WPA key setting needs to be on AES to work correctly not TKIP.
Multi casting needs to be turned on.
Firewall on router has to have open ports for printer.
If you have Mac Filtering you need to give printer hardware address from configuration page.
You might need to contact your router company for further assistance to check those settings.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
    Have a nice weekend!

  • How can I save global settings? (already tried everything...)

    Hi everyone,
I have a PC with Windows 7 - 64 bits and I am using the latest version of Flash Player (14.0.0.145 right?) on Mozilla Firefox.
I have a very frustrating bug with adobe for ages, maybe someone know how to fix this... Basically, when I try to watch a video or play a game that requires adobe flash player, I either get a black screen or an everending loading animation. I quickly understood that it is linked with my storage settings because I am able to play some flash games that does not require any local storage. So of course I tried to changes my local storage settings/website storage settings and I am totally unable to change those settings. When I right-clic any video/game that is bugged I can change settings but those changes are not saved, same when I change things on my computer directly on control panel, and on the online flash player help I can't check any boxes and any other change is not saved neither.
To solve this I already (not necessary on that order) :
    - disabled AD-block
    - checked if flash is activated on Firefox
    - checked if I don't have any older version installed
    - uninstalled and reinstalled flash player with and without the uninstall tool available on adobe.com
    - checked my registry
    - deleted %appdata%/adobe/flash... and / micromedia/flash... (sorry don't remember the exact directories)
    - checked for viruses, malewares, ...
    - I did all this several times the last 4-6 months, not sure when it started.
So one last thing I tried is to check that adobe is allowed to acces and rewrite files and thought this might be the problem, but even after checking it it still doesn't work. So please, I have 2 questions :
    1) Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?
    2) Where are flash player settings/preferences saved on my PC? So maybe I could manually check if the acces to this file is opened or maybe manually change the preferences myself by editing the file...?
Thank you very much by advance, really sorry if this has already been asked and solved but I swear I've been looking for answers on the web without finding anything for quite a long time. And finally sorry for english mistakes, english is not my native language. If any other information is needed to help, ask me and I will gladly answer it.
    SooCold
    Edit : english

Thank you for all the details on what you already did.
it seems that you already did a clean install, but try again all the steps outlined in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
the above article also contains the locations where the Flash Player settings are stored.

  • Can you save Export Settings?

Title says it all. I can't believe you wouldn't be able to, but I can't seem to find a way. Once I get that perfect setup, I don't want to lose it.
    Thanks!
    sjlocke

Nope. Only the "Most Recent" settings (those used last) are available. Once you switch to a different export option those become the most recent (removing the older settings).
On a Mac we use AppleScript to create export settings and can just drag and drop a .mov file onto the Droplet to export.
We also have a new app named Automator that can create workflows.
    QuickTime for Windows is scriptable.

  • Can PSE9 save print settings?

My company manufactures jigsaw puzzles and uses PSE9 with large-format Epson Stylus Pro printers in a 64bit windows 7 environment to print the puzzle images on professional photo paper.  All of our prints (besides utility tests) use roll paper and automatic cut.
The nature of our business requires us to print files periodically and it is very frustrating that we must go into the advanced printer settings for EVERY print to set the roll paper option, page orientation, and color management settings.  Shouldn't this information be saved as part of the image file?
If I edit an image and print it, why do I have to reconfigure the print settings EACH time I open the image?
Is there a way that I can force PSE to remember this information?
    Thank you so much.

    Hi,
When you print a file, its settings are retained. When you print another file the previous settings will be retained and shown in the dialog.
Please let me know, in case this is not, what you are looking for or this is not working.
    Thanks,
