Can't see printer connected to AEBS

The internet modem is connected to the LAN port, the iMac is connected to one of the ethernet ports and the printer is connected to the AE USB port. The printer shows as offline to the iMac. If I plug the printer into an iMac USB it shows Printer Ready. How do I get the iMac to find the printer on the AE?

How do I get the iMac to find the printer on the AE?
You did not mention whether you had "installed" the printer again (using Print & Fax in System Preferences) when you connected the printer to the USB port on the AEBS.
Did you "install" the printer at the AEBS?
If you did, you will see your printer twice in Print and Fax because the printer has been installed at two locations....one at your iMac and the other at the AEBS.

  • IMac can't see printer connected to Windows 7 PC via USB

    Hi all,
I have a mixed PC/Mac (Snow Leopard & Leopard) network and a Canon PIXMA MP780 printer connected to a PC running Windows 7. Last week, when this printer had XP on it, I could print. Since "upgrading" to Windows 7, the Macs can no longer see the PCs on the network. Clearly this is a Windows issue but I opened a support ticket with Microsoft and was told it is a Mac issue. (SOP for Microsoft) I'm hoping one of you has figured out how to get your Windows 7 PCs and Macs talking to each other. I can't manually add the printer to the Macs (can't even see the PCs) so we are dragging a USB around the office until we get it working. Fun all around.
    Thanks, Denise

My best recommendation for the last 4 or 5 years has to been to only buy network (ethernet) printers. There are many available for under $100. Why put yourself and your office through constant changes caused by upgrading or changing computers? If the printer manufacturer makes drivers for your printer for the OS you want to use, then you're done.
This way, all of your OS's work with the printer in their own way, without having to make considerations for bugs or new services, or changes in the way the OS works on a particular computer. Also, if a computer dies, it doesn't take down your shared printer with it. The other computers don't have to even be turned on for you to print.

  • Can't see printer connected to Airport

I and an Airport Express (AE) unit as my main router and set up a second AE with the intention of being able to send documents to my printer wirelessly.  The Airport Utility says the connection is good, and the printer is connected by USB cable to the second AE, but Word cannot see the printer.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

Never mind my post.  I found one from Pahu stating that the Canon MF4350d printer that I have is not compatible with Airport Express.  He says that the MF4350dn (a different model) will work if connected to Airport express with an internet cable.  Other people apparently have experienced this problem also, so I guess it's back to the wires.

  • Mac's can not see or connect to network resources

Our company network is a windows network. We have a couple of remote users with Mac's. The Mac's connect to the network over a VPN. They can connect to the network through the VPN but can not see or connect to any network resources. What settings am I missing?

My problem is that once the VPN is established and I am on the network, none of the shares or resources are visible or able to be connected to.
VPN gets you connected to the network as if you were physically present in the office, but nothing more.   Once you have successfully connected via VPN, you have to perform a seperate step to actually login to the server.
Also, some of the "it just works" aspects, like seeing all the things you can login to, before actually logging in to them, is a feature of Bonjour, which doesn't pass over VPN.  You'll probably have to use the Finder Menu GO -> Connect to Server, and then type the server's IP address in manually.

  • Can't see printer or shares when connected via Internet Sharing

I recently switched from a 2006 to a 2008 Mac Pro. Rather than do a migration I simply took the hard drives from the old machine and put them in the new one.
I then upgraded to Mountain Lion.
I use Internet Sharing to share my Mac Pro's Ethernet connection via wifi, but the other Macs can't see the Mac Pro's printer or shares when connected in this way. They can access the internet. If I connect a machine via the LAN rather than Internet Sharing, the shares and printer are visible.
This worked fine on Lion on the old machine. Any ideas?

Seems that the issue is something to do with connecting via WPA2. When I set Internet Sharing to use WEP (by option-clicking the security menu), I'm then able to see the network shares and the printer.

  • Can't see printer

I was able to print to my HP1300n a few days ago. It was connected to an Airport Extreme which was connected to my Verizon FIOS router. Now I can't print to it for some reason. I deciced to connect the printer directly to my lap top but it still wouldn't work. I removed the printer from the printer list completely and now I can't even see it on my computer, the FIOS router if attached to there, nor the Airport Extreme if connected there. to be able to add it to the list. I have several other printers that I can see and print to but not my workhorse HP 1300n. I have swapped the cat5 cable several times. I can still see the HP 1300n on my old desktop silver tower and print to it from there but not from my MacBook Pro and I need to be able to print to it from here.
    Suggestions?

So the only question is, why can't I print to the printer when hardwired and the laptops wifi is turned off?

  • IPhone4 can't "see" or connect to home WiFi network (AirPort)

    Hi,
I recently moved to an apartment building. When I was at my parents, we used my Airport Extreme (about 3 years old) for a home network. All three iPhone4's in the house, two PC's, two Macbook Pro's and a first gen iPod Touch all connected without issue.
Since moving, I've hooked up my Airport Extreme and did a firmware update I'd been prompted to do for a few months, but have been ignoring, via Macbook pro. I went to connect my iPhone, and it could no longer find the network. The two Macbook pro's in the apartment connect without issue, however my iPhone4 is not connecting - it can't even "see" or "find" the network!
I don't believe it's a WiFi card issue in the phone, as I can see a number of secure wifi networks in the building, and my phone connects without issue to an unsecured one, Starbucks, friend's networks, etc. However, it can't see my home network; and if I try to connect by manually entering the network name/password it says it can't find the network (which is clearly in existance and working, as I'm on it right now on the Macbook).
I have the latest iOS on my iPhone, and have tried the following (many due to other threads on these boards):
    Restarting the modem/router
    Restarting the router only
    Reseting the iPhone network settings
Downgrading the base station firmware from 7.6.1 (the update I did tonight while setting up the router) to 7.6, 7.5.2, and 7.4.2
Elimintating the newly created guest network
    Setting the channels myself
Using it as an open network
Resetting the airport network settings to factory and reconfiguring the network
    Standing next to the router
Putting the phone on top of the router
I'm fresh out of ideas, and really, REALLY frusterated.
Any insight or suggestions would be appriciated.
    Thanks,
    Lauren

  • Data Modeler 4 Can't see printing page grid (page borders) in model diagram

    Hello,
I've read that Data Modeler 4 now shows page borders for a diagram, so it would be much easier to prepare the diagram for printing on pages. I can't see these page grid border lines on my diagrams.
Can you please help me with configuring this?
I go to my "Relational Models", I see the diagram, I right-click on the diagram, select "Show" and I see "Grid", "Labels", "Legend", then I select "Grid" and I see dots on my diagram but no page border lines.
    I have version 4.0.0.825 installed.
    Thank you,
    Milan

    Thank you Philip.
I guess I was so happy about this new printing feature that I didn't read that last paragraph. You can guess that my next question is "do you know when is next release coming?".
I've been wondering for quite some time now, how is it possible that Oracle allows that printing diagrams in Data Modeler is so complicated. I know that product is free, but still, we are talking about Oracle standards here. They should just task a couple of managers involved in data modeler development to print a 50-table diagram on letter size pages (many people don't have access to a plotter), and they will quickly realize how complicated and time-wasting it is.
At the end, and if I'm not mistaken, blagodaram / благодарим

  • Macbook Air Assigned wrong URL to Printer connect to AEBS

I found a curious problem that I corrected but don't know why my Macbook Air did this:
I discovered that my Macbook would print fine to my HP Printer connected to my AEBS via USB, but my Macbook Air would be very slow to send the print job to the printer (taking 1-2 minutes if the print job had images, quicker if it was just text). I noticed that the printer URL (from the printer settings) on my Macbook was different than the printer URL on my Macbook Air. After figuring out how to change the URL on my Macbook Air via http://localhost:631, it now prints fine. However, I don't have a clue why my Macbook Air is assigning a different URL for my printer.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Try resetting the printing system Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system - Apple Support then add your printer back.

  • Xp wired machine with printer - wireless vista machine can't see printer

Installed wrt310n router - install went well - works great.
Machine A = xp machine with printer
    Machine B = vista machine
Machine A is hard wired to wrt310n router with usp printer
    Machine B cannot see printer.
tried several steps including checking firewall settings and making sure workgroup names the same - doesn't work

This is not a router problem.  It is your computer settings.  Both computers have to be on the same workgroup.  Default in XP is MSHOME while the default in VISTA is WORKGROUP.  Change workgroup to mshome.
In XP, run file & printer sharing wizard.  Go to Printer & faxes and you should see a little hand under your printers.  Note the name of the printer you want to use.
In Vista go to network.  You should see all your computers listed.  If not, click on Network & Sharing Centre and turn on Network discovery and file sharing. Set your network from public to private.  Go back to network and click add a printer. Select network printer.
Your XP has to be online for the vista to connect to your printer.

  • Can't make printer connection

Lost my printer connection about 10/25. Was able to get going by zapping pram and doing a disk repair. However the problem re appeared in 24 hrs. Now I find it all started with MOZY - which I have. They gave me a "fix" which included an uninstall of the present MOZY. Problem is I can't uninstall it because it won't accept my password ( administrative) - so I changed the password and I still can't get Mozy uninstalled. Believe me ,if I ever do get it uninstalled, I'll be very hesitant to reinstall Mozy - I'll find another one. So can you suggest a way to do an uninstall ?? Thanks - you folks are always a big help -- Monty Small

Monty, as a workaround I understand if you Repair Permissions with Disk Utility you'll be able to Print until the next time Mozy tries to Backup, can you disable Mozy's auto backup btw?
On removeing it, Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • System can't see printer on APEx USB?

After an HP software upgrade, Printer Setup (Apple and HP versions) can not detect an HP Photosmart 7660 connected to the USB port on Airport Extreme, but can detect it when connected directly to the G5's ports.
Uninstalled the upgrade, reinstalled the old version, but the problem still exists...

I am having the same problem (with a HP PSC 2110 all-in-one) It was working until yesterday morning, I printed something. 2 hours later I tried to print, but it wouldn't.
Please help as I have coursework deadlines soon,

  • MacBook Pro can't see and connect to WiFi but adjacent MacBook can

My wife and daughter both have MacBooks and can see a lot more local WiFi networks that I can on my MacBook Pro. In fact I'm using my wife's MacBook to post this topic since I can't get online with my MacBook Pro. I've compared the settings between the computers and can't see a difference. Could it be that the MacBook Pro has a "weaker" AirPort card in it or is there something I've done?
    Thanks.

    Yes and no.
The MacBook Pro's case is metal where the cases of the MacBooks are polycarbonate.
Since metal attenuates RF frequencies, MacBook Pros (and before then PowerBooks) have always had slightly worse AirPort performance than MacBooks (and before that iBooks.)
However the difference should not be so great as to prevent you from getting onto your local network unless it's a very weak signal to begin with.

  • Can't open printer connection

I now have the following setup:
iMac G5 (LAN port) <--> Belkin 5-Port Network Switch via Ethernet
HP 7210 (LAN port) <--> Belkin 5-Port Network Switch via Ethernet
Airport Extreme Base Station (LAN port) <--> Belkin 5-Port Network Switch via Ethernet
Cable modem <--> Airport Extreme Base Station (WAN port)
The network seems to be working fine as far as internet access goes. On the Airport Admin Utility, I have the Distribute IP addresses box checked.
When I try to print, the HP Officejet 7200 series dialog box opens and says "Opening printer connection" but nothing ever happens.
    What do I do?

    HI Sean:
I had the same problem too!!! I was getting frustrated because I was trying to
get my hp photosmart 7260 and my hp deskjet 3740 to print wirelessly. The solution I found by accident. What happened is that my network went down so I decided to unplug my cable modem connection from the Lan Connection on the Airport Extreme Router and plug it in the Wan connection and presto my printers were printing wirelessly. When that happened I literaly just wanted to cry in happiness.
Hope this works for you. Please let me know what happens. My email is [email protected] if you want to contact me.

  • How can I see the connect option when mapping a printer microsoft iis 7

We use iis 7 web printing. Firefox is our browser of choice. However, when we go to our webpage to map a printer, and click on a printer, there is no connect option to install the printer. This is only in firefox. Internet explorer works fine once you click the compatibility option.

Looked through all of material, none have the answer. Firefox browses to the directory fine, x.x.x.x/printers. but you cannot install the printer because the "connect" option is not there.
