Can't select suggested search text

On the site myswitch.digitalready.gov.au you can type in your address, when you start typing the text field presents you with auto-fill options for that text. I can't select the first suggested match. Instead Firefox just thinks I'm trying to select text in what I've typed or move the cursor within what I've typed.
I can select the second suggestion onwards, but not the first suggestion.
This works in other browsers, just not Firefox.
If it's relevant, the keyboard I use is Swype.

I started noticing the same problem on my phone as well... and was on the fence about whether or not it was the beginnings of a defective screen, as it doesn't happen all the time, and only does it with certain pages/menus/and screens. For example, I can not use the search field 85% of the time in the new Wi-Fi iTunes, but other buttons on other menus/screens in that same position will work every time with out hesitation. Other times nothing on my top home screen will open (SMS, Calendar, Photos, and Camera). Sometimes the icon will darken, acknowledging that I've taped it... and stay dark... not opening. unless I hit the home button, and try again.
So I'm not sure what to call my problem.. or even what to do about it until it seems to get worse, and unbearable enough to have it dealt with.

Can't select or edit text fields in LiveCycle Designer

I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I need to edit the header text in this PDF, so I tried to do that in Acrobat PRO, which said: "This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form." I got a trial version of LiveCycle to see if I could edit it. But when I open the PDF in LiveCycle, I can only edit the input fields. All of the labels, all the text, headers is uneditable. I can't select it, I don't see it in the PDF Hierarchy either. Half of the Edit Menu is grayed out. Can't copy or anything else. Please help me figure out why this happens. If you need the original PDF, let me know, I can send it to you. Thank you.

In LiveCycle, I can't even select the text. The select box just goes right over it, and if it goes over buttons or input boxes, it does select them, but not the text or even the labels for the input forms.
In Acrobat, I can click on "Edit Text & Images", but it tells me I need to go to LiveCycle. I don't see a "Replace Text" on right-click. There's "Edit Text", but it just tells me to take it to LiveCycle.

Can't Select or Copy Text or Data from Address Book Contact Card w/out Edit

Is it something I am doing wrong or did someone at Apple have the weird idea to make it impossible to select/copy text in a contact card in Address Book?
Can you drag/select/copy a URL in a contact card in Address Book, e.g. if you had to paste it into another program or even a different contact card? Thanks.

that would be the latter although i suspect it's a bug. it is now also impossible to select all in an address card to quickly copy and paste into a text document. you have to do it one field at a time and it doesn't seem to work with URL at all.

I can't select "move with text" in object placement on Pages?

I just imported an image (command shift V) and somehow when I click on "move with text" it doesn't toggle anymore! It seems to be deactivated.

I just found out. The image was close to an end of session token.

Can I select the inverse of a text selection?

In Photoshop, when I make a selection I can then choose to select the inverse. I'd like to do a similar thing in InDesign CS4, but for text. i.e. make a selection of a certain amount of text, and when I choose "inverse" the remaining part of all text in that text frame (including overset text) is selected.
Why do I want to do that? To get rid of overset text easily. I've been meaning to ask about this for years, and now the time has come.
Sometimes I end up with overset text and I want to get rid of it. The overset text may extend to 50 pages or more. I thought the easiest way to get rid of the overset text would be to select the inverse of the text on the page that I want. Basically, I've got the red overset text symbol on a frame and I don't want any text in that frame other than what's on the page.
I know how to break the thread, and rethread, and all that type of thing: the problem is, there are 50 pages of overset text and I can't select the overset text to delete it. Well, not easily.
Am I in luck with this one?

I can't select the B&W adjustment layer option

When I click on the adjustment layer button in the layers palette, I can't select the B&W adjustment layer option nor the Vibrance, Exposure, or Channel Mixer options. I am using CS5 (just upgraded recently) in Windows. I am not sure why I can't select them (the text appears in light grey and isn't available for selection). Thank you!

Can't select text on a safari search results page

Hi, I'm using an Ipad 3 I have safari sset to use the google search in settings
but when I search for something and it shows the results page I can only select links holding my finger on the text below the link does nothing.
sometimes the answer i'm looking for is in the text and I can just copy it instead of having to click the link to see it.

I found out that you gotta do a double tap and hold the only problem is its cumbersome and it only works if safari is set to search google or yahoo if it's set to use bing it does not work at all..
I've added the code below which will unlock the text select feature when selecting text on a search results page
I wrote this java script which allows you to just press and hold on the text to select it.. gets rid of having to double tap and hold and acts like select does on all the other apps. It will also work if your search engine is set to bing.
to use you will need 2 book marks 1 book mark is for google & yahoo the other is for bing
add any book mark then go into it and edit it, in the title type "Unlock Text Selection"
just below the title paste this javascript in

fire up safari and do a search for something
when the search results show click on the bookmark "Unlock Text Selection"
now you will be able to just press and hold on the text to select it and if you move it around you can select individual words.

now you will be able to select text with just a press and hold and even individual words
this only works for search results pages I tried it on a page after I clicked the link and it caused safari to display the page source instead of the page.. I just use it for searches

I have tried to select one of the suggestions that google give me for my search but FF it wont let me. I have type everything out in full. I hate FF4 it is rubbish. I loved firefox before this one came out but now I am seriously thinking of going over to google chrome.

One of the reasons I abandoned Chrome in favour of Firefox was due to the "black band of doom" that appears on the top of the Google page - so setting up my homepage to google.co.uk just puts that back in the ugly spotlight.
I was, though, pleasantly surprised to see a Google search bar on the Mozilla Firefox Start Page (without the black band and Google options that I am just not interested in) but bitterly disappointed that it is Google.fr (due to my ISP being French).
I shall learn to live with Yahoo (or worse case scenario, Bing!)

Can't select CMYK text colour for text fields in Acrobat Pro forms?

I have designed a business card template in Indesign, and now want to use Acrobat Pro to add in text fields so that a client can edit the contact details on the cards in future.
I need to select a specific text colour for the fields, so that it matches the rest of the design. The cards will obviously need to be printed and the document has been set up in CMYK, but when I enter the CMYK colour breakdown in the Properties > Text Colour panel, it won't apply the colour to that field. The text either stays at the default black, or reverts to RGB - which isn't suitable for printing and doesn't match the colour I need.
Can anybody PLEASE shed some light on this? Other similar posts have either not been answered or people have suggested JavaScript..? I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with a JS code..? Surely there's an easier explanation?

This is for a text field that you create in Acrobat, whether the form is used offline or online. The script is a custom Format script, which you can place by bringing up the Properties dialog for the field, select the Format tab, set a format category of Custom, and you should see where you can enter the script. Change the string "Instructional text goes here" to the text you want to display when the field is blank.

Can't select code text

Hello all,
I'm new to dreamweaver and searched the forum, but couldn't
find an answer. I am helping out a friend who has a HTML website
that was done by someone else. He wants me to simply change the
background image. I open it in dreamweaver and when I move the
mouse of the image I get the "circle with a slash" symbol, i.e. its
not selectable. If I go to the coding area, all of the text is
grayed out and I can't select it.
I know this thing must be "locked" somehow, but have no idea
how to unlock it.
Can someone help out this very green newbie?

Without the code to look at I am guessing. Is the page a
template and are you trying to access a locked uneditable area? Is
the background image applied using css (which I recommend that it
is whatever your answer!)?
Check those points and come back to the forum with your code
if you can't figure it out.

Okay. The missing menus at the top of iTunes (in recent versions) can indicate trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system. It's a new symptom of a problem that can also cause text to go missing from the Device tab in iTunes.
Unfortunately it's a bit trickier to deal with on Windows 7 systems than Vista or XP. (The "Vortical" instructions which can fix it for almost all folks on Vista and XP aren't applicable to Windows 7.)
Try having a look through the following (unfortunately very long) topic. It contains a lot of information on the Windows 7 variants of this, and possible methods for fixing the various Segoe UI-related issues that might be in play:

How can I select more than one song from the search results?

I want to create playlists based on certain words in the song title. For example, I may want to create a playlist of all my songs with LOVE in the title.
Doing the search is easy, but I can't select more than one song at a time. Is there any way in iTunes 12 for Windows to do this? I found an answer in iTunes for Mac, and it basically says to "un-check "Search Entire Library." " but I don't see that option in iTunes for Windows.

Found the "Search Entire Library" option - click on the small (VERY small for my eyesight) down arrow next to the magnifying glass. Also need to select "Filter by: Songs", and then the songs in the main window show the results.
I'm going to leave this up on the board because 1) in case someone else has this question, and 2) I don't know how to delete it anyway.
