Can't sync a blackberry with the new Macbook

I'm asking a question for a friend of mine who bought the new MB. She can't get her blackberry to sync using either pocketmac or missing sync. She's been talking to folks at Apple stores and pocketmac, and they've said it's a known hardware issue. So far none of the updates have made a difference. I haven't seen any posts about it here, but am wondering if anyone is aware of a solution.

see text from e-mail I received after my inquiry.
We've been hearing from customers like you that they had trouble
synching their BlackBerry handhelds with new Aluminum MacBook laptops.
They also reported trouble synching their new BlackBerry Storm.
The Aluminum MacBook issue appears to be caused by a change
Apple made to some of the hardware and software for that new model.
We recommend two items that you should download and install to
better assist with connection and synchronization:
1. Apple OS 10.5.6 Update
2. Blackberry USB Driver Patch/Upgrade (available at the bottom
of this email).
Please run Apple's software update from the Apple icon ---
Software Update. After the Software Update searches for new software.
Mac OS X 10.5.6 software update should be available in the download
list.
Please install this update. It's large and will take several
minutes to complete. After successfully installing the update, please
restart your Macintosh and continue with the instructions below...
We've just released a new, free patch is to support synching the
new BlackBerry Storm, the BlackBerry Bold 8900 and connections to the
new
MacBook Aluminum. This patch supports both Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger")
and Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard").
At the bottom of this email, please find the download link for
this new update.
However, please download this USB Driver ONLY if you have one of
the following items in your operating environment:
*You have a NEW Aluminum MacBook.
*You have a BlackBerry Storm 9530
*You have a BlackBerry Bold 9000

    Yes, windows to Mac too.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year.  It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.  Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

  • Can I sync my iPhone with my new MacBook Pro without losing my data & apps?

I was hoping to sync my iPhone (which is currently registered with my PC) with my new MacBook Pro. Is it possible to transfer my apps to my new MacBook or alternatively, sync my iPhone to my MacBook without losing all the apps?
I'm a little wary after syncing an iPod to a new laptop and losing all of my data, so thought I should check this before making any drastic changes...
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the discussions,
A manual backup will do what you want. Here's how to:
Make sure your iTunes account is set up on your new Mac. Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases (Apps and bought media) by choosing File->transfer purchases in the iTunes menu.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.

  • How can I sync my iPhone with my new macbook air that already has music on it?

I need help! I have an Iphone 4 that has all my music on it but I recently got a macbook air that already has all my songs. I want to sync my phone with my itunes but it says i may not want to. What do I do?

Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
Make sure everything is on the new computer.

There is no Info tab in Mavericks
if you use OS X v.10.8.5 or earlier. If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such a reason.  Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.

  • I am unable to sync my iPad with my new MacBook Air without losing all photos even though both are linked to the same iTunes account

I am unable to sync my iPad with my new MacBook Air without losing all photos even though both are linked to the same iTunes account

Transferring photos from your computer has nothing to do with your iTunes account/Apple ID.
Photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring photos from another, all photos on the iPad that were transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPad first - even if the photos were transferred from the old or different computer to the new computer being used for syncing.
When transferring photos from your computer, what is named the iPod Photo Cache is created on your computer for the photos that are transferred and why you see new photos being transferres are optimized before the actual transfer process. The iPod Photo Cache for these photos on the computer the photos were transferred from is not available on your new computer.
Since all photos on your iPad that were transferred from the old or different computer should remain on that computer, transfer the photos from that computer to your new computer. These photos on your iPad will be erased with the first sync but will be re-transferred along with a new iPod Photo Cache for these photos being created on your new computer.

  • Can u sync a blackberry with icloud?

Can u sync a blackberry with icloud?

Hi there, I have a solution for this.  I have upgraded my macs, iPads and iPhones to iCloud, but I am getting so confused with the direction apple are going in, and the power they are now wielding, that I have bought a blackberry.  I still wanted to keep my email, contacts and calendars in iCloud so my wife could continue to use the iPad and her iPhone, but needed to sync the contacts and calendars to my blackberry and vice versa.  Took me a while, but got there in the end.  Firstly, install an app called syncml pro on you iCloud enabled iPhone or iPad.  That is the only app which will work for calendars and contacts.  Then, go to website myfunambol.com, and create an account.  Back in the syncml pro app, configure it using the settings from the following link https://help.forge.funambol.org/questions/answer2.html .  This will then allow you to automatically sync any changes on your iOS device to the myfunambol server.  Then, install the funambol app on your blackberry, any hey presto, you have 2 way sync!  The beauty is that because iCloud works across all iOS devices, even if you change or add a contact or event on an iOS device that doesn't have the syncml app, iCloud sends your changes to the iOS device that does have it on, syncml picks it up, automatically syncs to myfunambol server, and then when you sync your blackberry, it picks it up.  Works exactly the same way in reverse, ie a change on blackberry will change all your iOS devices.  When the funambol app for ios supports calendars as well as contacts, you can do the whole sync from funambol without syncml.
