Can't synchronise mails of iphone and macbook pro

I receive my mails on my iphone and Macbook pro. If I download the mails on my iphone first and I open them, they will not be downloaded on my macbook pro. If I download them on my iphone but I don’t open them they will downloaded on my ibook pro. What do I have to change on my settings in order to have the syncronized?
Thanks

That's normal behavior for a POP3 email account. If your email provider supports IMAP, set the account up as an IMAP account on both the Mac and the iPhone. IMAP supports synchronization between clients and the server. POP3 does not.

  • Yahoo mail on Iphone and Macbook Pro

Can any one tell me why yahoo! Mail would work on my Iphone and not my new mac book?
The new mail app for OS 10.5.6 should be ready for Yahoo! .
I spent $3000+ why cant it work Every where on the web is saying (Maybe pay for yahoo?, Or get MobileMe.)
All i want is an answer I don't want another E-mail My yahoo Does ALL I want!. Every one i know has mine so don't want the hassle to change it just want to know how to fix it?
Its the same problem everyone's is having!
    What do I Do????

    Hey there Aspen318
Same issue... but I managed to fix it. I'll try to explain it, if in doubt do ask questions.
Add the yahoo account on to your "Mail" and continue ignoring all the messages that say 'unable to connect'. On the last popping window you will be asked if you want to put the account online/ offline (does'n matter) despite all the 'unable' messages... You do that! Hopefully your yahoo account should be on on the Mail platform, even though is not yet running.
Go to Mail preferences (top bar, top left ). A new window popped out. From the top bar of the new window select ' Accounts' and if you have more accounts there make sure you select the yahoo one. Once selected you should have 7 text boxes , and one check box:
Box 1 Description: [email protected] (e.g. [email protected])
Box 2 Email adress: [email protected] (e.g. [email protected])
Box 3 Full name: Your Name (e.g. John Smith)
Box 4 Incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Box 5 User name: [email protected] (e.g. [email protected])
Box 6 Password : Type in your yahoo password
Box 7 Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Click it, and then click on Edit server list... Again if you have more accounts make sure you select the yahoo one in the new window. Yo will then see 2 text windows:
Box A) Description Keep that one blank, if there is something in there, just delete it
    Box B) Server name : smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk
After all this is done, press ok and close all opened windows, including the 'Mail'.
Last bit is to open 'Mail' and click the Get Mail button on top left corner...
Good luck, let me know how you got on.

Looking for a Dictation App for my Iphone and MacBook Pro.
Want to send all dictation to Word.
I have Dragon.  Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?

Care to share which OS you are using?
OS has its own dictation program.
Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?
Only you can make that determination.  Read the system requirements for both and read the reviews.

  • IPhone and MacBook Pro but only have one Apple account

Brand new to the MacBook Pro world.  First Apple laptop (or Apple computer at all for that matter) so of course I have some questions. I think I am correct in saying that basically each Apple device has to be separate and apart from another even if they reside in the same household.  Meaning that each one has to be logged on to a separate and unique Apple account and email address for things like Facetime and iMessage to work properly. So, with that said......If I personally own the iPhone and MacBook Pro but only have one Apple account how can I make them both work separately and independent of each other??? The problem I've noticed is that Facetime and iMessage do not work and conflict with each of the two devices.

    Hi BigDisMe,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Congratulations, and welcome to the Mac World. Actually, you can use an Apple ID, together with iCloud to make your devices work together. Both devices can be connected to the same Apple ID, and use Facetime, Messages, and email together.
As long as both of your devices are updated to the latest OS, OS X 10.9 Mavericks for your MacBook and iOS 7.0.4 for your iPhone, you can:
    On Mac:
         1. Open System Preferences-iCloud
         2. There should be a button somewhere that says, "Add Account".
         3. Use your Apple ID to log in.
         4. Make sure to enable your Messages, Facetime, and email accounts.
         5. There is no Step 5.
    On iPhone:
         1. Open Settings-iCloud.
         2. There should be a button somewhere that says, "Add Account".
         3. Use your Apple ID to log in.
         4. Make sure to enable your Messages, Facetime, and email accounts.
         5. There is no Step 5.
    Good Luck,
    -Marcus

time capsule only allows 2 devices at a time as a router.  If I am using the iphone and macbook pro, it bumps the roku offline.  Any suggestions?

At a guess you have cable internet connection.. please confirm exactly what you have.. two public IPs are allowed by some ISP.. once you use up the two IPs, there are no more..
Make sure the TC is in router mode. And to get it working you probably need to shut off the cable modem.. if it has battery backup remove the battery.. try 5min off .. if not long enough try 20min off. then overnight. The ISP equipment must reset to allow a new MAC address to capture the IP.
If you cannot work it out.. plug in the old router again.. and set the TC to bridge mode.. which I suspect it is in now.. and plug it into the main router.. it should work fine like that.

  • What setting will make sync make my iPhone and MacBook Pro contact cards alike?

What setting will make sync make my iPhone and MacBook Pro contact cards alike?  I've been having to key in changes to both devices because sync doesn't sync.

If you really are running Mac OS X 10.7.5 and iOS 6.1.3, you should be able to sync through iTunes, but in current releases you need to use a central contact service like iCloud.
Did you have it working and then not working, or have you never had it working?
Are you trying to use iTunes, iCloud, or something else?

I connected to home share on my ipad iphone and macbook pro now it's asking me to turn on home share on the apple tv but I have no other remote, any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If home sharing isn't enabled on the Apple TV, you will need the aluminium remote that came with it to do so.

  • I have my ipad, iphone, and macbook pro all synced together.  I receive all my emails on the macbook and iphone just fine, but don't receive all emails on my ipad.  Some go to Trash because it says they're improperly formatted.  What gives?

I have my ipad, iphone, and macbook pro all synced together, which generally works fine.  I receive all emails from senders in my address book in my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but some end up in Trash on my iPad, with the message, "This message cannot be displayed because of the way it is formatted.  Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program.  text/plain"  They appear to be mainly from competing platforms, android, etc.  Is there a workaround for this problem?
    Thanks-

POP: yahoo, aol, comcast/time warnder/road runner
Imap: google, hotmail, and more including icloud.
If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically  Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.
To find out more about what happens to you, search on Google "difference between pop and imap"

  • Sync mail on iPhone and MacBook with Shaw internet

Shaw provides my internet connection and I can't sync the mail function on my iPhone and MacBook using their pop server. All of the incoming messages are delivered to both the iPhone and MacBook, but if I delete or file an email on one device, I would like it to do the same on the other as well. Does anyone know of a work around for this? The Shaw support site doesn't help and the Apple phone support didn't know hoiw to resolve this either.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked with Shaw here in Victoria, BC. They don't have an IMAP service and their Exchange server only works on mobile devices. They are working on upgrades to their Exchange server but their customer support guy indicated that it could be several months before they are completed. So anybody in Western Canada that gets their internet from Shaw is out of luck for a while. The only solution for now is that you have to delete on both devices and any filing you do won't sync either.

  • Unable to synch Notes between iPhone and MacBook Pro

    HI
Cannot get these to synchronize Have ensured that iCloud is on and have backed up iPhone to Macbook Pro but the "Notes" do not synchronize.
    Any suggestionsplease?
    Thanks
    Rick

Notes sync is turned on right?
Can you view your iPhone notes online at iCloud.com?
Sign out/sign in to iCloud on your Mac.

  • I would like to know if you have any kind of discount to exchange my devices (iPhone and Macbook pro): Do you have policy of recycling:

    I need exchange my devices (iPhone 4S and Macbook Pro) to news devices;

This is a user-2-user forum; you are not talking to Apple here, sorry. Ask the Apple Store.

  • Wrong contact picture in Mail (both iPhone and MacBook)

    Hi all,
Something strange is going on in Mail. On my MacBook I see my moms picture instead of mine, e-mail address and name are correct though. On my iPhone, I however see my mother's name and when I click on it, I get linked through to my mother's contact card.
Does anyone know what is going on and how I can solve this? Read some things about Time Machine messing things up but don't know what I can do to solve this.
    Kind regards,
    Isabella

Thank you for the reply, Golden Shoes!
Well, it's a bit of a disappointing answer considering one of the major things that made change to a Mac is that nothing is impossible, you just have to figure it out!
I suppose there must be a way to edit the template according to which the mail messages are printed... Isn't there a field or option in some configuration file that you can change to solve this?

  • Can my iPhone and MacBook Pro be hacked by receiving a call from an weird number?

I received a phone call from a bizarre number. The guy asked me if I could confirm the number I saw on my screen. I did. then strange things started to happen to my MacBook Pro. I am wondering if through this call could somene have hacked my system. One of the things that happened to my MacBook Pro is that I went to make a make a presentation and the system apparently deleted all my cookies and now I have to enter my UserID and Password to every site I normally use.  Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    >>...when you say "...erasing/reinstalling..." what do you exactly refer to? Save my documents and then reinstall the whole OS?...
Saving, erasing the disk, then installing a completely new system & importing/migrating only your documents & files, rather than any software. Changing all passwords etc too.
Which may sound extreme, but if something cropped up on your computer screen, with a number included, then someone called your 'phone & requested that number from the screen, and after giving it to them, it seemed as if they could control your computer... (what were the other strange things ?).

  • Hotmail, iPhone and MacBook Pro

My Hotmail/Outlook mail account on my iPhone and Mail on my MacBook Pro do not seem to be synching properly.  When I erase my Hotmail/Outlook messages in the inbox on my iPhone 5, they do not get automatically erased in the inbox in Mail on my MacBook.  I have to go through and erase old messages on each device if I want them gone.  Could anyone help me fix this issue?
