Can't transfer tunes to ipod

I have a 60GB ipod and since upgrading to itunes 7.0, every time I try to transfer my library, I get the error message: "ipod cannot be updated. The disk could not be read from or written to"
I've tried the all the advice at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301267 and it hasn't worked. I have also tried restoring my ipod and it did nothing. The only thing that works a little is uninstalling and then reinstalling itunes; doing this will let me download some of my library although after downloading a few songs (sometimes 10, sometimes 200) the message will always pop up again. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, yeah. I've been having the same problem.
A good deal of dammage was done to my laptop recently and I had to switch to a new computer. An HP compaq nc8000 to be exact. So there I was with my 30 GB iPod, redownloading iTunes a couple times and each time I connected my iPod to the computer and opened iTunes, it would go through the whole ordeal of updating my iPod. And after what seemed like eleventy trillion minutes! it told me that "The iPod cannot be updated. The disk/iPod is corrupt and unreadable." I can't remember the message word for word, but it was something along those lines. I'm really frustrated and about ready to bash the thing to pieces. Someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this. I don't know how long it will take for my other laptop to undergo repair. Please...anyone...I'm begging you here.
Why do we spend so much money on these things, only for them to go through so many issues...?

  • Can't transfer tunes on iPod to new computer...

I purchased a new computer and am trying to transfer the music on my iPod to the iTunes library I set up on the new computer. It instructs me to go to "Store / Authorize" which I do. It then says I am now authorized for 2 of 5 libraries. But I still can't seem to transfer the music. I am not using my original computer anymore. Any advice? Thanks.

I presume you are aware that iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer as per the instructions in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • How can we transfer games from ipod 4 to a different ipod 4

how can we transfer games from ipod 4 to a different ipod 4??

Follow the instructions here or here; using the first set of instructions then requires syncing the second device with the iTunes library containing the content. If you want to transfer the game data as well, perform a backup and restore.

  • My itunes library has gone following a laptop rebuild.  I do have my iPod which is up to date - can I transfer from the iPod to the library or will the iPod lose all its data if I snyc?

My itunes library has gone and is empty following a laptop rebuild.  I do have my iPod which is up to date with music, photos, apps etc - can I transfer from the iPod Touch to the library or will the iPod lose all its data if I sync to the laptop?  PLEASE HELP!

I'm guessing you've got iPod touch 2nd generation
iPod touch 2nd generation only goes up to 4.2.1, so you'll need a newer generation...
iPod touch 3rd generation only goes up to 5.1.1
4th and 5th generation both go up to iOS 6.1.3, wich is the current latest version.
    Hope this helps

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Can you transfer music from ipod to ipod

Can you transfer music from ipod to ipod?

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:

Non-iTunes purchases by using one of the third-party programs discussed in this previous discussion:

  • Can i transfer music from ipod to a new computer i do not have my old computer

Can i transfer music from ipod to a new computer i do not have my old computer files as it crashed.

For purchased songs you can plug the iPod into you new computer and use the "File > Transfer Purchases from iPod" feature in iTunes. For music not purchased from the iTunes store you will need a third party program to help. There are a few of them out there, and they are easy to find on Google.

  • PC (Windows) died - can I transfer tunes from I-pod mini to new PC?

Before you try 3rd party software, try this.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), then the Yamipod program previously mentioned is good, and it's free.

  • How can I transfer songs from ipod to itunes

I just found my old ipod and I want to transfer those old songs into my itunes and put it into my other idevices?
    ,Thank You

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Can't transfer itunes to ipod

I can't transfer any of my musit in iTunes to my ipod anymore.  I've tried everything.

You can not sync with another library. You can also do what the other two people said and manage it yourself. But another thing that you can do is use a program called "iPodDisk." It is free and it will allow you to add those songs from your sister's house onto your computer and re-sync it with your computer. You can get iPodDisk at:

  • Can't transfer playlists to ipod with new iTunes

    Hi,
I've just upgraded to iTunes 11.0,0.163 on a Wiundows 7 PC.
Since the upgrade I can't transfer any playlists across to my ipod.
I select my ipod then select "Add To". I then try to drag the playlist over to the ipod (as per the tutorial video) but nothing happens.
I've tried a number of playlists with the same result. All was working fine yesterday prior to the upgrade.

Well now I feel like a complete idiot......
I've just realised that I was trying to drag Albums rather then Playlists.

  • Can't Transfer App to iPod? iPod must have Installing Applications ON

If you can't transfer iTunes app to iPod or check the iTunes box for "Automatically Install New Apps", make sure your iPod has the setting for "Installing Applications" set to ON. (Settings --> General --> Restrictions --> Installing Applicatons == "ON").
I had wrongly assumed this item setting applied to installation of iPod Apps directly from the Internet, not through the PC. I was wrong. Others might need to know this as well.

The Restrictions applies to both direct download and syncing.

  • Can't transfer movie to iPod

I got a digital download with a Bluray purchase and (regrettably) decided to download it through itunes. I thought it would then be an easy transfer to my iPod Classic. This was not the case, however. When I try to transfer it, a pop says "'Movie' was not copied to the ipod ('my ipod') because it cannot be played on this ipod."
I've seen some people say that the "Create a new version" has worked for them, but when I go there, all the options are greyed out.
    Please, can anyone help?
    Thank you!

    Hello, LaylaSparrow.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you received a Digital Copy when you purchased a Blu-ray movie and are running into an issue syncing to your iPod Classic.  I am curious if you are going straight to the Create an iPod version option or are you selecting the movie and then selecting the Create an iPod version?  The attached article below may help walk you through this process.
iTunes: Videos may be unable to sync to iPhone, iPad, or iPod
