Can't Type On Shared Screen

I've had the same problems with screen sharing in Mavericks I've seen discussed elsewhere and solved most of them by replacing the Remote Management files with older versions, but I still have one problem I can't find a solution for.
When I share a screen, I can open windows and apps, move stuff around, but I can't type anything. It doesn't matter if it's a password prompt, in Notes, a web address in Safari. Everything else works but typing.
Anyone else have this problem and, more importantly has anyone found a solution?

Issue seems related to iCloud (see other forums). Just fixed it on my iPhone 4S by deactivating "Documents and Data" in Settings>iCloud. Issue seems widespread and impacts 4S as well as 5/5s and iPad. Can't understand how Apple can let this iOS7 release go live with that bug still in. Several beta-testers saying the issue has benn there since a while ...
Anyhow, hope a permanent fix will be issued soon.

Pretty darn new to iChat but man it has come in way handy. I'm trying to teach someone to do what I do for work because I will not be around, While I share my screen we've found out we can get files from it to his. Is there anyway to be able to hide file on my computer so he can d/l them or see them while in screen sharing in iChat? Hope that makes sense

If you meant "Hide so he Can't... " then the answer is no.
Any Screen Sharing lets the Viewing End the same access as you have.
What you can do is set up a Test User Account on your Mac (System Preferences > Accounts)
This in effect give that User all their own Folders in their Home Folder.
You could put Files, docs and other things in the Public Folder of that account, that you want to "Share, from your Account, so that when you Log in as the Test User they can have access to them.
Public Folders are what other Users on a Mac can "See". They can only Look.
Unless you set up Remote Login in System Preferences > Sharing to behave differently it is also all someone logging in from outside your computer can "see" (like Windows can only see Shared folders).
Once you login as another User your regular User Account is inaccessible apart from the Shared (Public folder only by default) folders.
putting things in the Drop Box in the Test account will make copies of them to do so allowing you to keep unaltered originals.

Ipad mini (retina) goes wild ! can't type, lot of screen movement

My screen seems to be to responsive, even when set on table the screen moves like crazy seems as if even moving a hand over the screen sets it off.
if i try to type a message it'll give a lot of wrong characters. Turning wifi, bluetooth and so off doesn't fix it.
should I erase it completely and if doing so be able to restore the ios (7.1)

The screens are exactly the same. I have a Tech Armor HD Screen Protector on my iPad Mini and absolutely love it. You wouldn't even know it was on there if I didn't tell you.

Hi Duva,
Have you tried using the Screen Sharing SampleApps? You can download them from our SDK Navigator. Within the "ScreenShareExample" folder has "ScreenSharePublisherExample.mxml" and "ScreenShareSubscriberExample.mxml" which I think might help
Here is the info from the Readme about these examples:
ScreenSharePublisherExample:This example shows how to publish one's screen and share with other subscribers in the same room who has its publisherID. When invoke this publisher, Adobe Screen Share Addin will appear and a sharing dialog will pop up for asking which application/view to share. Upon confirmation,
both streamID and publisherID will be displayed on the center textfields. Use the publisherID on the screenshare subscriber to see the screenshare. (Please verify account information and roomURL before using the publisher)
ScreenShareSubscriberExample:With right account information and roomURL, this application will connect to the first screen share publisher in the room (you don't need to specify the publisherID).

Screen sharing works from home to work but can't type shifted characters

i can successfully connect to from my home (using macbook or macmini) to my work mac using screen sharing but it seems that i can't type shifted characters like
@ or _
i can type these characters using screen sharing within the network at work so. any reason why this might be?

I'm having exactly the same keyboard issue. Certainly nothing has ever enhanced my concentration while coding like suddenly becoming unable to type.
I'm seeing a great many devicemgr and rake errors in my system log. I don't know if they're related. How 'bout you?
If you're unfamiliar with the system log…
Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
If necessary, choose View > Show Log List.
system.log is at the top of the FILES section.
Try searching it for hot words like DEBUG, FATAL, and aborted.
I've found some discussions that would tend to indicate my errors are postGres related – I'm running OS X server.

Suddenly can't connect to shared computers or screen share

For some reason I can no longer connect to my shared computers. I can however connect to MY computer from my shared computers, if that makes sense.
From my own computer, when I go to my shared list in the finder, I click on a computer (normally it all automatically connects because I have the password remembered), I click "connect as" and I never get any response, sometimes a "connection failed" I know file sharing is enabled on all computers.
Is there a way to refresh my list? What can I do to reconnect to my shared computers? This seems to have been happenings since I last updated the OS.
Also, I can no longer do a screen share where I was doing this regularly every day.

I tried opening up the firewall and allowed all incoming connections.

Lion Stuck at login screen,can't type password

My OSX Lion stuck at login screen,when I type password it just "beep" and I can only type few words.I just had those problem before..But since the battery ran out,and I gonna login...then I can't type the password...please help me....
P.S. My keyboard and trackpad is not working before,my keyboard can't type and my trackpadcan only do right click..

What year and model of MacBook Pro do you have? I'm wondering if the factory installed battery is failing due to age or use. A MacBook Pro battery can be recharged about 300 times before it becomes unuseable. Is this possibly the problem?

Mac pro cinema display cuts out and can't access Mac with screen sharing

A weird thing has started happening to my Mac Pro today. After using it for a few minutes the cinema display it is attached to on the Mac Pro just goes black. The Mac Pro is clearly still on - the light is on and i can hear the fans. The Mac Pro shows up on my local network and i can connect to it and access files from my Macbook, but screen sharing doesn't work (i just get the message 'contacting mac pro' and nothing else) and i can't connect to shared iTunes library either, which makes me think it is not just a display issue. I cannot wake the computer with the mouse or keyboard, which makes me think it isn't just a sleep issue. All i can do is physically turn the Mac Pro off, start it up and it will start up successfully and then work for a few more minutes before i get the same problem. I have reset the PRAM and SMC and still have the same problems. Can anyone suggest anything else i can try?
I should mention that i have another problem with the Mac Pro in that it has been spontaneously waking up from sleep and starting up from shutdown, and i still haven't resolved this. I don't know if it is connected to the above issue.

I have experienced almost the exact same thing with my new 2008 Mac Pro and my 30" Apple display. It has happened to me twice in the last few weeks. The first time I chalked it up to a fluke, but now that it's happened again I searched the forums. In both cases I've had music playing in iTunes which continues playing, goes on to the next track, and so on. So the machine has not crashed in full. I too can connect to the files via another computer on the network, but cannot share the screen.
I have not had the sleep issues you have had.
I'll look at the link you provided in your next post to see where that gets me, but I wanted to let you know you were not alone on this one.

Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I had my meeting with the Genius bar tech support. He reviewed all of the Apple Care history I have accumultaed over the last 4 weeks. He looked at my system and couldnt find any software issues. That led him to speculate it may be a hardware issue. After explaining that I spent over $5000 for my complete set up, I would not be happy with a repair on a brand new unit. He spoke to store manager and they agreed to replace the defective MBP.
I have completed my migration using Set Up Assistant and ethernet connection from old MBP to new MBP and it went smoothly. I migrated 324Gb in under 4 hours! Over night I created a complete backup using Time Capsule; again with an ethernet connection, and it took under 7 hours.
Everything is operating as normal.
Hopefully, this issue is behind me.

Why is my shared screen locked - I can't open my photos

I have a shared screen page which is frozen. When I tap the photos icon on my desktop it goes directly to the shared screen page. Any ideas?

Hard reset. Hold power and home button until device restarts and then see if it helps.

I've lost the ability to share the screen from my laptop 10.6.8 to my desktop which is running Lion. I had to run the Lion machine off a clone when I ran into an update that I needed to back out of. Since then I have not been able to share into the Lion screen. I've done permissions repair on both machines, checked that sharing was on, rebooted both machines, rebooted the router. I can share the Lion machines disks though, and log in to that machine, manipulate folders, copy documents etc. it's just that I can no longer share the screen.
Any advice?

It sounds like the screen sharing funciton is no longer working from the computer with Snow Leopard to one with Lion. I found this article for you to help troubleshoot what is going on here named:

Make sure you turned on screen sharing and set up sharing permissions on the Mac whose screen you want to share.Share your screen
If you’re trying to share the screen of another Mac, open Sharing preferences on that Mac and make sure you’re in the list of users who have been given permission to share its screen.
Make sure neither Mac is in sleep mode. Adjust sleep settings using Energy Saver preferences.
If you’re using Back to My Mac to share screens, make sure it’s turned on on both computers.Share your screen using Back to My Mac
Make sure both computers are connected to the same network, or if you’re sharing screens using Back to My Mac, make sure they’re both connected to the Internet.To check your connection, open the Network pane of System Preferences. If there’s a problem with your network connection, use Network Diagnostics to troubleshoot.

How can I use home sharing? (main computer)

Well, I have a Windows PC and almost on my music is in Home Sharing with my sister (her computer is the main computer, I'm pretty sure) . When her computer is closed, the home sharing disapeers.
Is there anything I can do so that I can always have home sharing or move the music to my music folder? Something like that?
Any help will be appreciated!

First, make sure you've got the home share set up on both computers, as per the following document:
iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer
Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
