Can't Update Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in?

...Pretty much exactly like the title says. I checked the plugin checker after updating to Firefox 30 to see if there was anything that needed updating. Of course, there was: Shockwave and "Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in".
While I was able to get Shockwave up to date just fine, the Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in is presenting some trouble. As in, when I click "Update Now", instead of redirecting to an update page, it redirects right back to the Plugin Check page.
Where can I go to update this plugin? Does it need to be updated? Is this a glitch in the checker, and therefore I don't need to do anything?

@jscher2000:
Okay, I tried what you suggested....and my program/product (Adobe Reader) said that no updates were available.

However, going to the plugin checker, it's still saying that my plugin is vulnerable/outdated:

So....what's the deal?

  • Where can I get Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in?

"Firefox support is a relatively recent addition to Adobe Reader, since version 10.1.4. Therefore, even though you may have had Adobe Reader installed for a long time, you may need to install a new version to gain the Firefox support. You may also find that you need to enable the Adobe add-on within Firefox. To enable the Adobe add-on in Firefox, select Tools->Add-ons->Plugins, then in plug-ins list, find the item beginning Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in and click the Enable button."
When I go to Firefox, select Tools->Add-ons->Plugins, this plugin is not there. So, where can I get it?

  • We use a plugin Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in Version 10.1.2 on a Mac to get the pdf to open in a browser window. Is there a later version or other method ?

We use a plugin Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in Version 10.1.2 on a Mac to get the pdf to open in Acrobat and the pdf display within the browser window, as within our Online artwork Approval system we use the Acrobat Annotations server to annotate pdfs and publish to the server
But we can no longer get this plugin to work! Is there a later version ? or is there another way of forcing the pdf to open in a Acrobat Reader application (not the Mac viewer) within the browser and not open another window to display the pdf in Acrobat?

The latest version is 11.0.6. Whether that's available to you depends on the version of Mac OS you're running.

  • How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard

How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard after installing it on Windows 7? Ive tried a few AcrobatUpd8**_all_incr.msp files but I get an error that the program to upgrade may be missing. I cannot afford to upgrade it to X* when this works for what I need it for which is simply to break up multi page documents created by Quickbooks.

Certainly, the printer driver in Acrobat 8.0 cannot install in Windows 7 64 bit - it wasn't written too. Apparently, though, 8.1 is capable of installing the printer driver.
Unfortunately, Adobe have taken down the page with release notes. But you may need to use the *efg* (English, French, German) versions. See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-7.html
After 8.1 there is a "universal" (all language) update.

  • How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8 pro?

I am having some issues running Acrobat 8 pro on my new imac running 10.9 os.
It works mostly, but sometimes I can't see the PDF or can't open it if it is from a web site.
I tried to download and manually install the updates, but I get a message that the app is from an unidentified developer.
I downloaded it from Adobe web site.
8.3.1 is the latest version and it seems that each needs to be installed in sequence.
Shouldn't the software automatically check for updates and install them?
Do I need to upgrade to the latest acrobat pro?
    Thanks,
    Matt

You need to contact Adobe, it's their product so you need to ask them if it is designed to run with Mavericks.

  • Mozilla Firefox and displaying PDFs with Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plugin

    Hello Everyone,
I have a strange issue going on in my enviroment with OS X clients, here are the relevent details and that steps I've performed.
Clients are on fully patched 10.8.4 machines running Firefox 23.0 and Adobe Reader 11.0.03, the Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in (AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin) is enabled under Add-ons Manager > Plugins. Under Preferences > Applications I have set PDFs to "Use Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in, Version 11.0.03 (in Firefox)".
When viewing a PDF Adobe generates an error -> http://imgur.com/O4l5oTi
I have already tried basic troubleshooting, uninstalling and reinstall both applications and preferences. I have deleted the mimeTypes.rdf and pluginreg.dat and had them recreated by Firefox. I believe this is a Adobe related issue as I initally was running Firefox 17.0.8 ESR and got this problem and then upgraded to 23.0 and continue to have the problem.
Using the built-in PDF viewer works but this is not a fix but a workaround. Please advise if you need any further information, so far this is reproducable on all my machines running Firefox and Adobe Reader.
    Thanks,
    Kev

Bump; The Firefox site says that Adobe "...does not yet maintain a browser plugin for viewing PDF files in Firefox on Mac OS X", per the support.mozilla.org site http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-adobe-reader-plugin-view-or-download-pdf-files
Can anyone from Adobe confirm this?

    Hi ncm72,
Could you please let me know what version of OS are you using.
Also, go to Control Panel/System Preferences in Windows/MAC and check whether Acrobat 9 is shown under installed programs list.
You might also try running Acrobat cleaner tool to remove all traces of previous versions of Acrobat:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then, install Acrobat X again from the link mentioned below:
Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X
Let me know if this works.
    Regards,

  • How can I transfer Adobe Acrobat from my old PC to my New PC?

How can I transfer Adobe Acrobat from my old Laptop to my new laptop?

You have to deactivate and uninstall on the old system and then reinstall on the new system. Whether it works depends on the Acrobat version (looks like you indicated AAX) and OS. You need to be sure to update after the new install. Just transferring files like you imply you want to do is not possible with almost any modern software. The software not only loads files, but sets all sorts of registry entries that would take a lot of time to find. In the past there were some programs that supposedly tried to move programs, but I have not seen mention of one in years.
