Can't update AMD graphics card drivers in Macbook Pro 15" 2011

I've been having this problem for a while now, and from what I understand, it's a fairly common issue with bootcamp but I have not been able to find a solution to the problem nonetheless. I am using a 15" Macbook Pro from 2011 (purchased in early September, not sure if that was before the 'late 2011' model or not), running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 through bootcamp v4.0. The graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD 6750m last updated on 6/13/2011 to version 8.812.0.0.
I have tried many times to update the card using the AMD catalyst control center supposedly made for windows 7 in bootcamp, but no matter what compatibility options I choose, the installer either tells me there is no graphics adapter (auto detect) or just crashes immediately after starting installation of the catalyst control center. I've also attempted reinstalling bootcamp several times, each with a fresh download of the windows support software, though I have not completely uninstalled Windows 7. I'm not sure if the problem is with the bootcamp drivers themselves or with AMD's software or a combination of both, and a solution would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I know this is completely the wrong spot for this, but while I'm here, does anybody else have issues running EA's Origin download service? I just installed it in bootcamp a few days ago to play Mass Effect 3, and ever since then my computer gets display lag (e.g. in windows media player the video freezes for a few seconds at a time, while the sound continues playing) sometimes, especially during and after attempting to play Mass Effect 3. I already checked to make sure that both Origin and Mass Effect 3 are fully up to date, so I thought it might have something to do with the graphics card.
Anyway, thanks for the assistance, and I apologize for asking a question that has probably been answered several times. I searched through several posts, I couldn't find any answers to my problem.

Despite all of these helpful posts from the community, I'm still coming up short. I'm attempting to update my ATI Radeon HD 6770m driver on windows 7 64-bit. I've followed this guide:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3866652?start=0&tstart=0
(third post down) - I also use Drive Sweeper after using CCCleaner and device manager uninstall.
Every time I attempt to install the driver after rebooting, I receive an error message stating "Driver install: the INF file was not found" with a log stating that the driver failed to install upon completion.
When I attempt to use control panel>Device Manager>Display Adapters>Update Driver Software>Browse My Computer For Driver Software and then choose the appropriate file path (including subfolders) or by choosing from a list of device drivers and selecting one of the two inf files in c:/amd/support/12-2_mobility../packages/drivers/display/w76a_inf, I receive the following error message:
"Windows Encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
AMD Radeon HD 6700m Series
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."
I'm hitting nothing but dead ends here. I just want to play SWTOR with an updated driver!
Please provide a detailed, step-by-step solution (if you have one). It is not safe to assume that I have any experience regarding graphics drivers or running windows in bootcamp. Thanks in advance.

hi guys..i've got a macbook pro 13 inch with intel hd 3000 graphic card..is there any way to change it to the faster intel hd 4000?

No, it is an integral part of the mother board.  To improve the GPU, your only alternative is to purchase a newer MBP.

  • Second graphics card (Nvidia) for Macbook Pro (late 2011)?

    Hi,
I have a late 2011 17-inch Macbook Pro, and want to know whether it's possible to fit a second graphics card in there - and if so, where I could find a list of compatible cards.
What I am really aiming for is an Nvidia card with CUDA, since there are various applications I want to use that require CUDA.
If it's not possible to fit a second CUDA card in there, is it possible to replace the current card (AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB) with an Nvidia one?
    Thanks,
    S

Thanks for such a quick response, albeit not the one I was hoping to hear!

  • Can I upgrade my graphics card in my macbook pro? (2012 13-inch 2.9ghz)

I'm wondering if this is possible, I almost bought the 15-inch with the nicer card but didn't.

No as both the CPU and GPU are soldered to the Motherboard, Apple Speak Logic Board.
Nothing is upgradeable except the HDD and RAM.

Maybe the wrong port or the wrong kind of memory card? You didn't say what version/year of Macbook Pro you have. Below is a photo of the newest one.
Red oval = USB port. It is to the left of the headphone jack.
Blue oval = SDXC card port. Is your card an SDXC card?
What are your options for transferring data to the picture frame?  The manual should say.

  • Can I update my graphics card?

NOTE: By updating my graphics card, I do not mean getting a new one - I mean installing a some software to put my graphics card up to date.
Hey all. I need to now if I can update my card, cause if not, I can't play a certain game. Would love some help on this - Thanks!

Install a RAM upgrade, other than that no.
Intense "reality" games are not, in general, intended for Macs.

  • Graphics card reset for macbook pro

I keep getting pixelization from time to time on my screen when it boots up.  How can I reset the graphics card to try to get rid of it?

    Hi urbanexus,
It sounds like if it boots to a pixelated screen you need to reboot to make it normal again. As screen settings are held it PRAM, try resetting that.

You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
OS X Mavericks: Reset your computer’s PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

is this problem for my graphic card or is for Lion ios?
as the matter of fact , i bough this mac 2 months ago.
Im wondering if someone can help me in this regard!

Since it is less than a year old call AppleCare: 800-SOS-APPL (in the US).
Have your Mac's serial number ready: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1349
After you wait on hold for a very long time they ask you some frustratingly basic questions like is it charged and did you spill water on it etc., they will talk you through some basic troubleshooting such as an SMC reset. In the end they will offer to schedule an appointment at a Genius Bar where they will fix whatever is wrong. It won't cost you anything (unless you spilled water on it etc).
You can do all this yourself:
    SMC reset:
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

You can test the hardware yourself also, if it reports something wrong tell them what it is.

    Catalyst Control Center version :2012.1104.523.9449

I had downloaded latest driver from AMD's site. But after installing this driver i can't open catalyst control center. it says "No settings can be configured using CCC"No other graphics settings are working.
I tried it using AMD autodetect and download and install.it too shows same error.
Kindely someone help me to download latest versions.
    And install correctly.

    Hello Adarsh_Johny,
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I understand you are looking for updated drivers for your notebook. Unfortunately, there are no Windows 8.1 drivers that HP supports, as indicated here: HP Pavilion g6-2005ax Notebook PC Drivers
My suggestion to you is to return the computer to Windows 7 or 8 to take full advantage of the updated drivers. Of course, you can try to install the latest Windows 8 drivers, but I can't guarantee that will work.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

  • Need latest graphic card drivers for Satellite Pro M70

I've had this PC for only a few months now and i've been disappointed to have heard that my drivers are WAY out of date. The only drivers i can find are on here and they are only v.8 something (although the game reads this as an older version).
The problem comes in when i want to play games like Half Life 2 and CSS, the game crashes because these drivers are out of date. Where can i get the LATEST drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon x700 card for the Toshiba Pro M70?

    Hi Stephanus
First of all you must not be disappointed about that because you must understand few things. Because of notebook construction it is not recommended to force graphic card to run at the limit. Using latest drivers you do exact something like that. More performance means more warmness and I hope yo know very well what happen when notebook is too hot.
I am not 100% sure but I presume that Toshiba priority is to provide hardware protection. I saw that some other notebook manufacturers offer latest drivers but there is also notice that they are not responsible if something goes wrong.
One more thing: you have mobile computer and not desktop.

  • How can I fix this graphics problem on my Macbook Pro?

Whilst playing numerous games on my Macbook Pro, I have noticed the same problem. This causes the game to be almost unplayable and usually happens after playing the game for a while. I have had this happen on many games such as Portal 2, World of Warcraft, Team Fortress 2, Starcraft II and a few others.
I have had this problem ever since I first got my Macbook Pro, but the issue has changed slightly since. A software update a long time ago caused the problem from affecting the whole screen to just affecting the window the game was being played in.
I can sometimes fix the problem by opening the Display preferences in System Preferences and it automatically fixes itself - without me doing anything. There is another way I have found to temporarily fix the problem, however this has only worked on World of Warcraft. It involves changing the reselecting the display in the video settings and reapplying it - causes the game screen to go black for a few seconds and the issue is resolved.
The problem is that the graphics on the screen start to flicker and move about and certain sections are missed out. It's kind of like a fuzzy tear in the screen.
I have a attached an image of the worst case of this that I have had (I managed to screenshot it).
    System Specs
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro7,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2.4 GHz
      Memory:          4 GB
      Chipset Model:          NVIDIA GeForce 320M

Does it do the same thing if you boot from a different disk, like your old Mac OS X install disk?  I see you're running Lion, so also try booting from the recovery partition by holding down command and r at startup.
If it can't boot from any system, it's a hardware issue.  You'll need to contact Apple for service.  If you can boot from the recovery partition, try repairing the hard drive with Disk Utility.  You may also want to try running Apple Hardware Test.

  • I sit possible to upgrade the graphics card in my Macbook Pro?

I own a macbook pro 2.4 ghz intel core duo, 4gb ram with NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB graphics card. I'm finding this graphics card pretty shocking when it comes to even the simplest of 3D games...i know probably my fault for choosing a laptop not suitable for gaming but still i did expect it to be able to handle graphics like on football manager.
Anyway my question is, is there any way to upgrade my graphics card and how much would it cost?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't expect Skype or iWork to be a problem. I don't know Spotify.
Have you used Disk Utility to correct permissions? This is a routine maintenance procedure that can improve some things. If you are not familiar with using this utility it's sufficient to see at the end 'permissions repair complete' or similar. There are likely to be some messages saying certain things couldn't be corrected but usually these are not serious issues.
The other thing to watch is whether you are running on battery power or mains. When there is intensive processor activity & some other internal activities too the computer might need mains power to perform at its best. You can try various things on battery alone then on battery & mains together and compare performance.
