Can't update Camera Raw 8.3

Just bought Elements 12 and it wouldn't import my RAW files from my Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera. I assumed that's a result of Camera Raw not being updated to the latest revision so I checked to see if there was an update available and sure enough, there was. That's where the good news ended. I can't run the update until I quit both Elements Organizer and Elements Auto Analyzer. Quiting Organizer is easy but there doesn't appear to be a way to quit Elements Auto Analyzer on the Mac. As a result, I can't run the update and can't import the RAW files. This is an example of poor programing on so many levels it's embarassing. At the moment, I have a totally useless piece of software.
I'd love to have a shortcut to work around the problem but Adobe really needs to clean up their act here.

Consider
Trying to update it with the full Photoshop version can be done, but this will prevent future automatic updates from working.
I would question that generalization. Specifically,
a. If you had Premiere Elements 12, updated Camera Raw from 8.2 to 8.3 manually using the files pointed to, if and when there is a Camera Raw 8.4, I do not see any problem updating Help Menu/Update or manually for that 8.3 to a projected 8.4.
In the case relating specifically to this thread, Premiere Elements 12, I see no reason why a manual install of 8.3 will prevent future updates of that Camera Raw version if there are more released that are compatible with 12.
b. However, if I had version 11 which probably did not support Camera Raw beyond Camera Raw 7.4 and did a manual install of 8.2 (which I know can be done), I would not expect to use Help Menu/Update to update that "8.2" to "8.3".
And updating manually with "full Photoshop version" here will get you the same Camera Raw 8.3 with all its "Elements" disabled features just as always when comparing to Help Menu/Updates  by the book.
I base the above on my personal experience with version 11, where I manually installed Camera Raw 8.2 and obtained the results cited.

  • How can I update Camera raw for Photoshop CS5 to access images from Canon Rebel T4i?

How can I update Camera Raw for Photoshop CS5 to access images from Canon Rebel T4i? The updated version of Camera Raw 7 says it only works with CS6. Outside of buying a new Photoshop, is there anything I can do?

Buy Lightroom (much cheaper alternative to Photoshop) - does all your 'Photo-related' tasks. Full version of LightRoom 4 is $149/- - http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html
LightRoom 4 supports ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 7. Once processed with Lightroom, if you still need, you could take the photo in JPG or TIFF format into Photoshop CS5 for further processing.
Another option is to use Canon Raw Codec that would've come with your camera's box to process the RAW images and then take them into Photoshop.

  • Can't update camera raw:  "Unable to apply updates"

Can't update camera raw:  "Unable to apply updates You are already running Adobe Application Manager. Please close all instances of Adobe Application Manager before applying updates." The only instance of AAM that is running is the one that opens automatically when I click "Updates" in the PS 6 Help menu.

    What's your OS ?
Check in Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac) if there is any instance of AAM running.

Help! I am trying to update Camera Raw on CS5 so it will work better with LightRoom 3, but the updater stalls and says to close Bridge. Bridge does not appear in Task Manager, and I even uninstalled it, but I keep getting the same message. Why is Bridge holding up the update? Thanks.

  • How can I update Camera Raw in Photoshop CC 2014?

I purchased and installed Creative Cloud Photography Plan two weeks ago.  I have Photoshop CC 2014.0.0 release.  The Camera Raw plug in is 8.0.0.137. The Creative Cloud Desktop app says that Photoshop CC (2014) is up to date.  The updates link in Photoshop>Help>updates is greyed out.  From the Adobe website it appears that the latest version of Camera Raw is 8.6.  Can anyone help with thoughts on why I have an earlier version and how to update to 8.6?

It turned out that the problem was caused by an enterprise version of Acrobat Pro which was licensed by Adobe for my PC in connection with my work.  This conflicted with the software licensed under the Creative Cloud Photography plan and was blocking the updates.  I was prompted to go down this line of enquiry by this thread:
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/5664955
Removing Acrobat Pro did not solve the problem. It needed one of the Support Associates from Adobe to modify some of the files on the PC.  Now running fine and all up to date.

  • Can't update camera raw file in photoshop cs5

I have Adobe Photoshop CS5, version 12.0.4.  I am trying to open camera raw files ending in ARW (Hasselblad Stellar Camera) and PhotoShop tells me there are no updates available.  I have downloaded the mac os file (using Yosemite, latest version) and get the message the installation was successful, however, PhotoShop still shows that the Camera Raw Version is still 6.0.0.205.  I can view the ARW files in finder, however when I try to open the file in PhotoShop CS5 I get this message:
Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.
Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information.

you can update ps cs5 to cr 6.7
update by downloading the files directly and then applying them:
    pre cc updates:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
i'm not sure which camera you have but the hassleblad stellar II needs cr 8.8 or better.
your options (if that's your camera) are to upgrade ps or to use the dng converter.

  • Can't update Camera Raw!

Hey, I just re-installed Photoshop CS6  (Can't have CC im still on vista), and im stuck with Camera Raw 7 which can't read my camera's raw files.
I don't wanna mess with the Dng Converter. I simply want to at least update my camera raw to the version 8.3.
I already had CS6 installed before and i was able to update everything very well but not this time.
It can't seem to find any camera raw updates in the help -> update menu inside Photoshop CS6!
    Need help! Thanks!

Try this installer for camera raw 8.3
    http://swupdl.adobe.com/updates/oobe/aam20/win/PhotoshopCameraRaw7-7.0/8.3.52/setup.zip
If the above doesn't work, you could download the 8.3 dng converter and install it.
That installs the needed profiles for camera raw.
    8.3 DNG Converter:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.3
Then download this 8.3 camera raw plugin and replace the existing camera raw plugin in cs6 with the one in the zip that you downloaded.

  • Can't update Camera RAW 6.7.1 on Mac for CS 5

    Mac OS X 10.7.5
    Running PS Cs5 version 12.0 w: camera raw 6.0
    Need camera raw 6.7.1
Camera RAW update fails. Says I need Application manager.
Application Manager update fails. "Installer failed to initialize. Please download support advisor to detect problem".
Clink link for "Get Support Advisor" and site says "Support Advisor has been discontinued".
Spent 1.5 hours searching for help, got to a chat only to be told there is no longer chat support for Cs5. Was sent here: Re: [CS5.5] Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.
This article suggest going to Library/Logs/Adobe/Installer. My system only reads: Library/Logs/Adobe. I don't have an Installer option.
This is taking so much time and I need to be able to pull my Canon 5d mk iii images into adobe camera raw. I fear my only option is to upgrade to Creative Cloud, which makes me frustrated when I have software that I've already purchased. Help?!?!

Another suggestion would be to look in the log files – the Adobe Support Advisor rarely found anything is probably why it’s been discontinued:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html
An alternative would be to uninstall everything, run the CC/CS Cleaner, and attempt to re-install:

  • Can I update camera raw plug-in in CS5.1 to CR8.7?

When trying to export an image from Lightroom 5.7 to Photoshop CS5.1 I get an error message saying I must update the camera raw plug-in in Photoshop to version 8.7. How do I do this?

Thanks c.pfaffenbichler.  Now that I understand what is happening I will probably just render using Lightroom as that seems to provide the functionality I was expecting. If I have problems with that I will try DNGs.

  • I can't update camera raw 9.0 from within my Photoshop CS6 update menu. It says there is a failure with Adobe Download Manager. I can't successfully load the new version of the Download Manager because it sends me to a link that Adobe says doesn't exist a

I seem to be stuck in a deadend. I need to update ACR to 9.0 for Lightroom 6

Remove Office 2008 for Mac using Microsoft deinstall procedure. Reinstall Office 2008 for Mac.  If there are updates, apply them. Using Disk Utility, verify/repair permissions on your boot drive.
Does Office for Mac 2008 now work correctly? If not, you may want to repeat the above first sentence, and then update to Office for Mac 2011, and apply the latest (14.4.8) update which has Yosemite fixes.

  • Update problem - can't upgrade Camera Raw

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro. I am trying to reinstall my Photoshop CS5 Extended (student edition) and complete the upgrade to Camera Raw 6.7, but I get an error saying "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." I click on "contact customer support" link, which brings up a page with the title " Error: This serial number is not for a qualifying product."
I bought this myself, and did not deactivate it prior to wiping my hard drive and upgrading my operating system. Is this the problem?
How can I update Camera Raw, and all the other Adobe extensions for that matter?

Here is the error that appears :
