Can't update Garageband 6.0.5 rel. March 7, 2012

When I try to download, I get the following messages. First, it says: "These apps cannot be accepted on this computer. Future updates of these apps can be found through Software Update." When I click "okay" it says: "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (18)". Well, I've tried again and again with the same results. My iMac is an i7 processor with 8 gigs memory running Lion, so it shouldn't be due to old hardware or an older version of OS X. Any ideas what's going on?
Thanks,
Fred

Hi...
If GarageBand came pre-installed on your Mac, the updates will be available from your Apple menu (top left in your screen) > Software Update.
If you purchased GB directly from the App Store, be aware there have been other users reporting issues with updating the app.
You can provide feedback to Apple here >  Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback
Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The applications that were downloaded are licensed to this old Apple ID.  Any updates that need to be processed for these apps will need to be processed using this Apple ID password.  You cant attempt to reset that password for the Apple ID via the steps in the first article below.  If you need assistance with this, see the second attached article.  You can also delete the applications in question and download them again with your new Apple ID.  However, this will cause any application data in those applications to be deleted and you may be charged if these are paid for applications.

  • I can't Update Garageband iMac21.5-inch, Mid 2011

I cant update garageband to 6.05 ... App Store says i have update available but when i try to update ... there is an error ... i have an imac 21.5 garageband was preinstalled.. tyied to download and this messege apperse ....

The GarageBand Update at the App Store will only update GarageBand if it was purchased from the App Store.
To Update the preinstalled version of GarageBand, open GarageBand and then go up on the Menu bar to Check for Updates...
Note the above screenshot is for the preinstalled version of GarageBand 06' and may not acuratlly represent the location of Check for Updates in GarageBand 11.

  • Can't Update Garageband.

ok. so is there a regular update for garageband, just like there's one for iTunes? Because I know my school recently updated garageband, but when I tried the other day, it said that 2.0.2 was the latest version, and couldn't be updated.
mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   I like Chicken Wings

2.0.2 is the latest (last) version of GarageBand version 2. To get version 3 you need to buy iLife '06

  • I can't update iPhoto, GarageBand nor iMovie, and I can't open iPhoto at all.

I can't update iPhoto, GarageBand nor iMovie, and iPhoto is the only one I can't open at all. I bought my Macbook half a year ago and when I try to update the Apps it says it's being modified and then that there was an error with Apple Store ):

There is an issue with update servers today, so you'll have to wait anyway.

  • Can't open GarageBand after latest Quicktime Update

Not sure, but I think after downloading latest Quicktime update, GarageBand won't open. It bounces in the dock, then a bar that says "initializing" appears, but never gets past that. Any advice. TIA

Incredible that this can even happen with an update to QT. It happened to me with the 2.01 GB update.
Did all I could to fix it, but no avail. I ended up reinstalling the OS.

  • The update "GarageBand Update" can't be installed

"The update “GarageBand Update” can’t be installed
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
Once while installing an update I lost net connectivity. Since then whenever I download this particular update i get an error msg. All other updates work just fine.
    How do I rectify this?

try downloading the update by hand from the apple website instead of using Software Update.

  • Can I update to Mavericks and keep GarageBand 5.1?

I'm hoping to update to Mavericks (I'm currently at version 10.6.8) so I can also update Final Cut Pro X to the newest version. I need to work on a project from home since the office is closed due to rough weather.
However, I'm afraid in doing so that I will lose GarageBand 5.1 and tons and tons of projects started. I know that I can download 5.1 (here: GarageBand 5.1), but I don't know if it will work properly within Mavericks. I also don't even know if Mavericks will automatically update GarageBand? I'm pretty clueless, so any help would be much appreciated!

Unless you downloaded the full Mavericks installer from the Mac App Store before Yosemite came out, it's no longer available. The updaters you found aren't it.
    Your Mac can run Yosemite.

You'll have to purchase the apps before you can update them.

I still have ilife '09. How can i update to the new ilife? Do i have to pay for each app seperately in order to update?
I am an Aperture user and I am tired of managing my old iphoto library seperately. In order to use the new combined aperture/iphoto abilities i need a newer version of iphoto. Apple says that the new iphoto is free, however my iphoto (version 8.1.2) did not update. How do i update iphoto so that i can use the library with Aperture?

iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband are free. However, you must be running Mavericks in order to download and use them. Mavericks is free also.  Therefore your Mac must be capable of running Mavericks:
The following is from: Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mavericks.
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
iWork is not as it's an upgrade and not an update. Upgrades for iWork have always had to be purchased. However, the previous iWork apps will work fine with Mavericks.

  • Help needed - How to update Garageband 3

    Hi!
I got my friend's old Macbook (Mac Os X 10.6.8) and am not familiar with the whole Mac world yet, so my question might be a little naive
Garageband 3 is installed but not working properly as all the loops are missing.
How can I update version 3? I downloaded version 10.0.1 but cannot be installed as it's not fitting.
Before you ask: I tried the update link in the program itself, but it's dead. I guess it's just too old now. I also tried to download the newest version, but it's only compatible with Mac Os X 10.9 and further).
    Help!!! :/
Thank you very much in advance!
    B*

The original loops are not sold separately, only additional JamPacks, if you can find them, and they are are much more expensive than buying iLife.  And I do not remember, if the JamPacks are compatible with GarageBand 3.  Did your friend transfer the installation CDs to you, when you got the Mac? If MacOS X 10.6.8 was the original system of the Mac, the installer CDs may contain bundled iLIfe applications.

  • I would like to update Garageband to the newest version for my macbook pro (OS X 10.6.8)

I currently have Garageband V3.0.5 and I would like to update but when I try to get V4 or higher I get an error. Is this as high as I can go with my operating system?

Version 4 is from iLife '08, version 5 is from iLife '09 and version 6 is from iLife '11. Version 10 is only found in Mavericks.
You can't "update" from version 3 to any other version. They are all paid upgrades.
You can't purchase version 4, 5 or 6 at the App Store. The only way to get them is from a reseller of the iLife DVD suite of apps.

  • HT201364 I upgraded my MacBook Pro with Lion (but with iphoto 9.2.1) to Maverick and now I can't open iphoto and I can't update either

I upgraded my MacBook Pro with Lion (but with iphoto 9.2.1) to Maverick and now I can't open iphoto and I can't update either - can anyone help please?

Download the iPhoto upgrade from the App Store. It should be free.
iWork and iLife for Mac come free with every new Mac purchase. Existing users running Mavericks can update their apps for free from the Mac App Store℠. iWork and iLife for iOS are available for free from the App Store℠ for any new device running iOS 7, and are also available as free updates for existing users. GarageBand for Mac and iOS are free for all OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 users. Additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available for a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 for each platform.

  • I can't update my Apple apps in App Store. What is wrong?

I have had my MacBook Pro for over a year now and I have had this problem with App Store since then: I can't update my apps/programs from Apple - e.g iPhoto, Garageband and iMovie. And the most irritating thing is that I can update the apps I download myself. Does anyone know how to fix it? It would be nice :-) Thanks.
