Can't update my iPod with verison 1.2

i keep getting an error message that says:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
and then it gives me a list of 414 items, including all my tv shows and movies that i have and most of the songs i've bought off itunes, that it couldn't put on my iPod.
anyone know whats wrong? / how i fix it?? : (

You may need to reauthorize your computer again. If you update your BIOS or reinstall your OS, iTunes thinks that you are now using a new computer and so you have to reauthorize it to play anything that was purchased through the iTunes store. This happened to me when I upgraded my BIOS recently. Go to the "Store" menu and select "Authorize Computer." You will then be prompted to enter your iTunes Store username and password.
Hope this helps.
Keep in mind that you only have 5 authorized computer slots, so before you make any changes to your computer, de-authorize it so you don't lose your slot.

Be sure you've turned off any antivirus, spyware, malware type software. Then try [Unable to update or restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808]. Hopefully that will work, or you'll get more specific error messages which [this kb|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275] can help interpret.

    Step 1 – Open the Terminal.app
Either by start typing Terminal on the Spotlight, or by going into Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.
Step 2 – Open the hosts file
Open the hosts by typing on the Terminal that you have just opened:
    view source
    print?
    1
    $ sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Type your user password when prompted.
Step 3 – Edit the hosts file
    By deleting
    #74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    #127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
from your hosts file, save close and then reboot.
    Or in Windows:
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, open hosts file in notepad and remove

  • How can I update my iPod classic that will not mount on iMac computer?

I can't update my iPod classic from my iTunes on my iMac computer with OSX 10.9.  It will not mount or be recognized by iTunes version 12.1.
I plug it into the USB port and it charges, gives the "Do not disconnect" symbol but the computer does not recognize or mount the iPod at all.  I haven't been able to update the music for years. I have four other devices associated with my Apple ID for automatic downloads. Is it too antiquated to upload any of my music from my computer to it anymore?

    Ahh! The plot thickens!
I went thru the console and read the error logs. It appears that the .ipsw file does load.....I think. It's been years since I spoke computer....
Here is what I got after double clicking the .ipsw file and iTunes opened:

  • I can't update my iPod 4th generation to ios 6

I can't update my iPod 4th generation to ios 6... I've updated my iTunes to 10.7 checked my security software tried restoring my iPod and then downloading on my device and my laptop. When I connect it to the computer I try downloading & updating and only downloading.. Still nothing I get error messages, can't connect to update server messages.. I'm just thinking about giving up... What the heck do i do !!??? Will the local apple store do it for me and what's so going to be on the 5th gen I may just wait and get that one. Please help.

Are you sure you have a proper Internet connection? Make sure your iPod is connected to your computer, and you have an Internet connection.
Don't even get me started on the iPod Touch 5G, I actually own an iPod Touch 4G, and I've considered a lot about if I should get the new one. At first look, you might be sold by the features Apple has on their iPod Touch page. It has a taller screen that's a 4-inch Retina Display, has a much better camera with a flash, and comes with iOS 6 preinstalled with Siri. But the real breakthrough comes with the new connector. It's called Lighting, and it's much smaller. But if you have a dock connector that comes with some cars, and maybe a set of speakers or docking stations as alarm clocks, I encourage you not to get the new one. The usage of your old connectors requires a $30 adapter, which is a ridiculous price. And who knows how secure the adapters will be with your docking stations? I personally think Apple has crossed the line. If they are to put a new connector with their new products, they should ship with an adapter in the box, at least at first. This is why I strongly encourage you NOT to get the new 5th generation iPod Touch.
Sorry if I went a little off-topic there, but I wanted to get my point across. For your updating to iOS 6, I reccommend you check out other discussions in the support comunity, and see what other contributors have to say. Or go on Google and search your error messages, possibly someone might've already went through the same problem as you did. I really hope this helped!

When I connect my iPod Touch to a new laptop (Macbook Air) the "Info" tab won't appear and therefore I cannot sync it with my new iTunes. How can I sync this iPod with the iTunes on my new laptop?

There is no Info tab in Mavericks
if you use OS X v.10.8.5 or earlier. If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.

  • I can't update my iPod to version 5.0.1

I own a 3rd generation iPod Touch (model A1318) and I have already updated it so that it runs on software version 4.1. Whenever I plug it into iTunes, the "Summary" tab tells me "A newer version of the iPod software is available (version 5.0.1). To update your iPod with the latest software, click Update." However, when I click "Update," a window comes up saying, "This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version" despite the fact that I am trying to update an iPod and not my Mac. Is there any way to stop this?
Just for some additional information: my Mac is an old Tiger, version 10.4.11, and so I cannot update iTunes. I don’t care about whether or not iTunes is updated; I just want to update my iPod. Is it possible to update my iPod with this old a version of iTunes?

To update to iOS 5 you need OSX 10.5.8 or later.  It is a paid update. To get for Apple you need to call them since it is not listed in their on-line store. Price is $129.  Ifyou have  G4 or G5 Mac 10.5.8 is the highest you can go.
Googling shows you do have a real 3G iPod so you can go to iOS 5.

  • I can't update my ipod nano

though i can download the songs but i'm unable to update the newly downloaded songs. what should i do? can anyone help me?
    thanks a lot!
    ipod nano   Windows XP

I'm presuming you are referring to tracks you've purchased from the iTunes Music Store, yes? If so, first, have you updated your iPod with the latest software? Note that I'm referring to the software (firmware) on the iPod itself, not your version of iTunes.
Second, have you played each track at least once within iTunes before you try and load the track to your iPod? If you haven't played the tracks once, try doing that and then see if they'll load.
    Hope this helps.

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
