Can't view QT Pro rotated movie

I spent several hours trying to rotate a .MOV file taken by my iPhone 4.  I downloaded the MOV file from my iPhone to my Win 7 machine where it plays just fine in Windows Media Player (except for being 90 degrees off).  I couldn't find a native Windows solution among my several video editing apps that didn't involve too many steps of converting rotating, re-converting, etc.  I saw that QT Pro could rotate my file, so I put out the $30 for it.  I opened it in QT, rotated it and exported it to supposedly the same QT MOV format that it was in originally.  But when opened in Windows Media Player I was met with no image when it played.  I have a very complete set of Win 7 codecs loaded, so I don't understand why I can't play my rotated MOV file in the same WMP that played the original MOV file.
Am I doing something wrong?  Or did I just waste $30 on QT Pro?    I looked for support directly from Apple, but apparently this is the only venue open to me.  I'd like to get a refund if QT Pro can't do what I need, but I am probably p***ing into the wind in that regard.  I love my iPhone and iPad, but but this kind of nonsense is enough for me to consider a non-Apple phone and pad that isn't so Windows incompatible.

Thanks a million for the quick reply. My movie has 13 songs which I drug from i tunes and tried to burn in toast. You were right. 6 of those songs were bought from apple and 7 were copied from my cds. Toast says I am not authorized to burn the ones bought from apple. Any other ideas. Thanks again.

  • After loading k-lite can't view converted h.264(mov) files on quicktime

Got an hd camcorder for christmas that records in the h.264(mov)format. Could only play files on quicktime 7 but processor to slow and video stuttered and lagged audio. Downloaded binks radtools to convert file to avi, which played farely decent in quicktime. Decided to try k-lite codec pack to see if i could improve on this. While instaling, k-lite told me "the preferred source filter that "h.264" is set to is invalid" and asked if it could remove it from the windows registry. thinking this could be problem i click yes. k-lite did not improve viewing with its instaled player and when i tried to play my converted file in quicktime i get only white screen but good audio. removed k-lite but still get same results with converted avi file in quicktime. (I think the preferred source removed was a nero application)
Does anyone have any ideas on how to repair this? I want to purchase quicktime 7 Pro to convert files to avi but not if i am going to get the same playback results.

If you can't find it in QuickTime Pro, ask the person that created the files.
FWIW, you'd be better off just capturing the DV tapes in FCP directly.

  • How can I view a home made movie on Apple TV?

I have used Photo to Movie to make movie and eventually got it into the Movies directory on itunes (after finding out how to move it from Home Videos).  All seems fine but when I try to access it through Apple TV it isn't there.  Any ideas?

    A few other things:
Make sure you're looking, on Apple TV, in Computers/Movies and not the Movies App.
In iTunes Preferences/Sharing: Select Share my library on my local network and Select: Share entire library
You could also try restarting Apple TV

  • I can't view all my iTune movies on Apple TV

Yesterday evening (Thursday 7th), when I turned my Apple TV (2nd gen) on, I was asked to get the newest update, which I did. But since this update is done, I don't have access to all the movies that are actually in my movie list in iTune. For example, a movie that I watched wednesday is not available anymore in the Apple TV list. What do I have to do to get them all in the Apple TV list?

I thought my imported movies were in the movie category as well, yet I couldn't see them in the AppleTV movie listing.  Turned out all my most recent imports were being treated as Home Video.  Consequently, in iTunes I'd see them on the list, but not under the movie tab.
Easy fix - as the suggestion above recommended, in iTunes right click on the listing - or hold CTL key and select multiple listings - and right click to "Get Info". Under Options tab, change  Media Kind to "Movies".
This action moves the MP4 from your "Home Videos" folder under iTunes and creates a new Movies sub-folder for the item.
Problem solved >> 8 movies brought across and now visible in Apple TV directory under Movies.

  • Cannot View DVC Pro HD

I run Windows XP and using TransMac to view DVC Pro HD movies from a Mac external hard drive. I cannot view the movies and the creator of the movies says that his Quicktime Pro plays DVC Pro HD movies for him on his Mac.
Can someone please tell me if there is something I need to do to view and edit these movies with Quicktime Pro for Windows?

FCE does not work with the codec, FPRO can, if you can access it. Or, this free app can convert the clips to one that FCE can work with.

Make sure the conversion matches the specs of one of the FCE Easy Setups. I'd suggest an AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec).

    Hello, eco1.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like you are wanting to move your iTunes media folder to an external drive and have iTunes this folder from this location.  If this is the case then I would recommend taking a look at the article below.

So it is cutting off the end at 59 minutes?  How large is the file that is being exported?  You may be running up against a file size limitation.

  • IPhoto can't import rotated movies?

    Folks,
I have some movies taken with my digital camera in portrait mode. I found a program to rotate the movies (TransformMovie), but iPhoto doesn't let me import them. It gives an error message.
The movies play ok just in Quicktime (or frontrow or whatever).
It seems iPhoto doesn't like rotated movies. is there a workaround?
Is this the same for movies rotated with QT Pro?
    Tx,
    Phil

    Phil:
Movies rotated with Quicktime Pro import into iPhoto OK. I downloaded and tried TransformMovie and it wouldn't import. It had been changed to a .mov file. There were some differences in the video portion as indicated by QT Player, mostly in video offset. But changing it to what the QT version was didn't help. When I did a Save As in QT Player the resulting file was importable. QT Pro is worth the money and more. You can do a lot of things with it.
EURIKA! Just change the file's extension back to .avi and it will import.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I have purchased MOVIES from Apple iTunes and want to know how I can burn them to my DVD so I can watch/view the movies on my TV's located in my house?

I have purchased MOVIES from Apple iTunes and want to know how I can burn them to my DVD so I can watch/view the movies on my TV's located in my house?  Pls post what you know or works for you - I see the movies on iTunes but am unable to locate them in any folder on my computer???  Thank you!
    Pete

So what is meant here is spend more money - wrong answer.
For that reason most people prefer to buy movies on DVD. They are easily shared, foolproof, and super easy to use. I love Apple TV and iTunes for music and TV shows, but I would never purchase a movie that was not on an optical disc.
When I head out-of-town I can grab a couple of DVDs to watch on my new MacBook Pro during the flight. Easy and uncomplicated.
DVDs offer another advantage. You can watch your movie without depending upon a complicated and delicate infrastructure. Also, movies are frequently censored for political correctness (Star Wars is a recent example).  Despite public pressure for a release, the Disney movie “Song of the South” remains banned.  Even cartoons like Johnny Quest are now censored.  Only people who purchased physical copies years ago have them as they were originally produced.
When you possess a physical copy of the movie the PC patrol can't mess with it.

  • QuickTime Pro - preparing movie to go on .Mac so it can be downloaded to PC

I have created a movie using different applications (i.e. iPhoto; GarageBand; iMovie; Quicktime Pro, etc.). I have it posted on my website using iWeb, and I am able to download the movie to my desktop where I can resize it to fill the screen. I would like others to be able to do this on their computers.
When I tried it out on my PC, the triangle on the lower right side of the QuickTime movie wouldn't even open. I have QuickTime Pro installed on both computers. Is there a way to save QuickTime movies to .Mac websites so that others can download them to their desktop no matter what kind of computer they have?

    Thanks for the reply.
I will take your answer step by step to make sure I understand. You said:
    1. "Saving" a QuickTime movie using the controller is a feature of the Pro upgrade so only Pro owners can save your iWeb files using the controller menus.
    My response:
My original question mentioned that on my PC I also have QuickTime Pro and yet I'm not able to activate the controller menu (I'm guessing the downward pointing triangle at the bottom right is called the controller menu - if I'm wrong please let me know). I have also told my friends who want to be able to download the movie, that they have to have QuickTime Pro.
    You also stated:
    2. Make sure your page layout in iWeb doesn't have some page element "covering" the controller part of the window.
    My response:
You are right about that. I've discovered that problem several times. It isn't an issue here, however. I also have tried several different ways to save the movie. First just using a blank page with nothing but the movie on it. Next, using the movie page with nothing but the movie on it. Also using both the .mov format (original QuickTime self-contained movie format), and the .m4v format. It still can't be downloaded to the desktop on my PC.
    You added:
    3. To allow others to keep a copy of your file merely requires you give them the direct URL to the file. They can then use any Web browser to keep a copy.
You can add this to your iWeb page as a "text based" link.
I'm not sure I understand this last piece of advice. I have the movie on a website I created through .Mac and iWeb. My friends are able to view the movie on my website. Since the width of the movie is determined by the way iWeb is set up, you can only view the movie ON the website in the width you use when you save it to iWeb. I have resized it as large as possible on the page on my website. When you are able to download a movie from a website to the desktop, however, you can resize it or "Present the movie" so it fills up the screen. You also can open it in iTunes and then convert it to play on an iPod if you wish. That is what I would like others to be able to do so long as they have QuickTime Pro.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "They can use any web browser to keep a copy." How does that allow you to download the movie to the desktop?
Thanks again for responding. If you have any thoughts to add, please send them.

My iPhone 4 with iOS 6 is making me start to hate Apple. Any App and at any time I open and I can not view it or move for more than 2 minutes, they close themselves. During connections, it also gives this problem and the signal disappears after a few seconds back but often the person on the other end has hung up ... I can not stand it anymore, someone suggests something?
Besides these problems, there is the battery, which was bad got worse, she is not lasting more than 10 hours, even without using the phone.
Sometimes it even seems that the problem was solved, but my joy did not last long after I celebrate all the problems return, is incredible ...
    thanks.
    Sorry my bad Inglês.

  • Apple ProRes QuickTime Decoder  - Both types say I have "a newer version installed", but I can't view Pro-Res files on either type of machine.

I'm trying to view a Pro-Res file from Final Cut Pro on machines that have Quicktime Pro, but having no luck.  I've tried installing the "
Apple ProRes QuickTime Decoder " for both Windows and Mac (on the correct machines), but I keep getting "You already have a newer version of this installed" on each machine, and can't finish.  Needless to say, the Pro-Res file will not play on either machine, and there seems to be no way to remove a "newer version" and install this one.  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Rob,
There is no quicktime folder there. And no quicktime program is installed when I try to install iTunes. The only reason I tried installing quicktime in standalone was because the itunes install was not actively going to the quicktime part of its installation.
I've tried removing everything and only installing iTunes. But even after deleting the physical files, using the WIndows Install cleanup tool, and cleaning up my registry, the quicktime portion of the iTunes install doesn't complete, and I keep getting "unknown" errors from the crash prevention program, and from what I can see it's because there's no physical Quicktime program installed.
As for other accounts, no I cannot start it up with other accounts, I keep getting the "Unknown" error and there is no physical files for quicktime anywhere.
And selective startup doesn't seem to work as there is NO qttask option when I run selective startup.
So, I seem to be out of options, and thing else I could try?

  • How can I view movies in iPad with the full screen?

Ok, I bought two movies from iTunes on my iMac and synced them with my iPad. It went well.
But when I play them back on the iPad, I can only view them in letterbox/portrait mode which uses only one third of the iPad screen!!! Why is this? Is there anyway I can actually utilise the other two thirds of the iPad screen to view the movie? Otherwise it kind of defeats the object of having an iPad surely?

    Hi,
I think we are going to experience some format problems on our mobile devices,  unfortunate as that may be.
This is caused, I think, by the video and cable providers preparing to roll out live programming through LTE
broadband from the cell towers to multiple mobile devices and home television.  We should expect some
    bumbs along the road.
This may be an unrelated problem:
On my Ipad, before OS 5 upgrade, I was was able to view Xfinity, HBO Live, ABC Live and CNN Live in full
screen using the popup full screen icon on the top right of the screen.
After OS 5,  HBO,ABC,CNN LIVE  -  all could be viewed full screen using the popup icon.
The popup Icon is not available with Xfinity.  Xfinity is now letterbox.   Very, very annoying!!!
The Comcast New Products department said that engineering would fix this problem.  I sure hope they do.

  • Purchased a movie on my iPhone throught iTunes? I can see it on my computer but I cannot get it to my iPad. I have been looking at all the setting on my computer, iPad and iPhone and I still can't view it on my iPad. How can I view it on my iPad?

I purchased a movie on my iPhone through iTunes. I can see it on my pc and I shared all my media. I am unable to watch it or download it to my iPad. I am using the same email account for all devices for home sharing. I am not sure what the issue is with this and I have check and rechecked many settings many times. How can I view a movie I purchased on iTunes on one device, on all my other devices?

If it's a rental film (not a purchased film) that you downloaded on your phone then you can't move it to your computer's iTunes - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657:
Can I play my rental on more than one device?
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
