Can't we load all dimensions using HAL

Hii am using Hyperion Application Link to load members into mydimesions.i was successfull in loading accounts. but when i tried toloading scenerios, i was not able to do that as my planning adapterdon't have that dimension in the drop down. i tried refresh , butnothing happened.can't we load all dimensions into planning using HAL?thanks in advance. -Balu

Hello, Four dimensions which are Entity, Accounts, scenario &Versions are self generated in Planning. However we cannot use HAL for Scenarios and Versions. Hyperguy

If you look at my blog, I talk about the <preview function. it brings back them members with zeros as the values. It's much quicker than actually returning the data.
There is a problem in general with your premise of using a report script to do this. For ODI, you will want the dimensions in a parent child format. The report script will not do that for you. I would suggest you look at the outline extractor housed on applied olap's web site. www.appliedolap.com it's free and you can run it in a batch mode.
I think you should also look at John Goodwin's blog http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/ he has a series of articles on ODI. you whould be able to extract the dimensionality from a cube and load it into another cube directly from ODI

Unable to extract attributes associated with entity dimension using HAL

Hi All,
I am using HAL to extarct an entity dimension (metadata) and its associated attributes.
for attributes I am using ListElements with GetElements.
The HAL integration is working good but it is giving me only the first part of attribute for example
if the attribute is ALLOC:1245 I am getting only ALLOC.
did anyone face similar problem.

Can I use at command line an import dimension using table interface?

I am facing a strange case, after migrate the developments that call the EPMA Batch Client uding ODI 11.1.1.7 to the test environment. I have various package that load data on the table interfaces
and in a next step call the epma batch client.
However when I execute the package, the log file is wrote. However the new customers are not loaded. But If I execute the command (Step on package) that call the epma batch client the log also
is wrote and the member is loaded.
Any suggestion about what can be happening and how I can solved.

What must be the configuration for EPMA profile to load a dimension

Hi guys I am using EPMA profile to load information of table interfaces. I am facing that some members are loading as shared when I upload the same data
so when the dimension is updated they are marked as shared. I am using the method "Merge as Primary" and "Merge to Bottom", because I only need to update
the members that exists and add the new ones.,
Maybe this method is not the correct, any help will be appreciated.

You might have an option as "Replace" in profile due to which it will replace all the members before loading it. This is if you want to set at profile level
If not, You can Delete before load when you use EPMA Batch Client

The problem does not appear, if PH Elements 13 is executed in the administrator mode.
The available computer resources are rather large enough: CPU INTEL i7 4 cores, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 32GB SSD, Windows 8.1.
Please, advice how to solve this problem? Maybe, there is patch or updating available?

Thank you for the quick answer. In the meantime I found other way to pass by the problem. I increased the cache level up to the maximum value 8.
The errors reported as "No more virtual tiles can be allocated" vanish, but I still do not understand, why PSE 13 cannot work properly by the lower cache levels, having available maximum resources it needed (10443 MB RAM and 26.53GB SSD space for scratches), or cannot collaborate with the fast SSDs properly.

As per your blog you have loaded the entity dimension using the Hierarchy and members tables. Is the structure of these two tables same as interface tables?
And can i insert all the dimensions and their members with only these two tables or do i need to create two sets of tables for every dimension i have.

Using HAL, how do you assign an attribute member to a regular dimension

I created a HAL job to map members of an attribute dimension to a sparse dimension, but am unable to make it work. I get no error msg. I followed the example in HAL's help. The database is an Essbase database.
I'm on Essbase 7.
I got this to work in a Planning database, but am unable in an Essbase database.

Yes you can.
Simply create the dimensions as you seem to have indicated you have
Then associate each of the attribute dimensions to the same dimension (as many as you like).
Once they are associated you can start adding the attributes to the members. You can't do this until after you have associated the attribute dimension to the dimension.
A quick way of checking is to go into EAS and you will clearly see if you associated the dimension correctly as each will appear next to the name of the dimension. if not go back and try associating again.
Also you need to have loaded the attributes ot the attribute dimension before you will see them to connect to the members. You can load the attributes using a batch process if you have a lot to load.

In my out line(ASO) i have the 10 dimensions but i have to load the data for 8 dimension so for this in the rule file i created 2 extra field by using data source properties and wen iam mapping in daata lod properties for that fields i checked the ignore field during the daata load and also i gavethe skiped no of rows in the header as 1 (without also i tried),,,but its still giving error: "Encountered Before All Dimensions Selected" ,its not loading plz it is very need full can any one help on this ,it would be appriciated.

Glenn is correct -- you've got to point your data load rule at all dimensions.
It sounds like your data source doesn't have all of the dimensions so you are trying to fake two in the header.
That should work (although it would not be my first choice).
However, it sounds as though you've either got your mapping wrong in the dimensions or the header.
Have you double-triple checked the assignments of columns to dimensions? And that the content makes sense, i.e., Scenario is really Scenario and not Version -- that can trip you up.

Internet Shortcuts saved on Desktop open new instance of Firefox 3.6 using clean profile--how can I make it open all shortcuts using current profile?

I rely heavily on Firefox's profiling ability to assist me in my web design projects. Lately, using Firefox 3.6, I have run into some problems with how it opens Internet Shortcuts that are saved locally (i.e.- shortcuts that reside on my Desktop). When I double-click on one of these shortcuts, a new instance of Firefox 3.6 is loaded with the saved website from the shortcut, but it's also initialized a fresh profile (i.e.- my bookmarks are gone, no add-ons, etc.--it's as if it uses some sort of "hidden" clean slate to load the shortcuts).
Is there any way to force Firefox to load all shortcuts into whatever profile I'm currently using at that given moment? I think the reason this has happened to begin with is because of the fact that I did some stuff to Internet Explorer awhile back that caused some problems with the Internet Shortcut associations and it all led to this eventuality.
I'm running Windows XP Pro and have the following profiles with my Firefox versions:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 3.6\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p Firefox3.6
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox N\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p FirefoxN

"Application" is "shdocvw"...
"DDE Application Not Running" is blank...

Again, I think the root problem here is to do with the profiles and how they're handled when being opened with Firefox but I can't discern how to apply a fix with all this as I've obviously goobered this up a bit. I would really appreciate some professional knowledge on this and would prefer to avoid any reinstalls of anything if possible.

To save your sanity with this issue, my advice is to find a method other than desktop shortcuts to open those URL's.
1. Desktop shortcuts are going to open the Default Browser.
a. With multiple versions of Firefox installed that would be the last version that was installed when you have Firefox set as the Default Browser in Windows..
b. The Default Browser is going to use the Profile that shows a Default=1 in the profiles.ini file.
c. The Default Browser with the Default Profile isn't going to open if you have any other versions of Firefox already running, and the -no-remote command line parameter doesn't work in this situation.
2. The use of multiple Profiles and multiple versions isn't officially supported by Mozilla, and all the Bug reports that I have ever read about Requests for Enhancement have been WONTFIX'd by the developers. Basically we have to work with the limitations in Firefox and maybe improvise work arounds by ourselves. I've even seen a few threats about removing Profiles altogether in RFE Bug reports about Profiles.
I have had so many problems over the years with this Default Browser / Default Profile thing over the years that personally I find it easier to just set Opera as the Default Browser in Windows rather than have a Profile get b0rked because some other program I am using decides it wants to open the Default Browser unexpectedly. I don't use Opera for much, but it is a lot better than IE for purposes of being the Default Browser, considering the quirks I have seen with Firefox and multiple Profiles.
I have written a number of postings over at the MozillaZine Builds forum over the years about installing multiple versions of Firefox and using multiple Profiles. There's a lot of tips and comments provided by other multiple Profile users in one of those threads. Why don't you read those threads and see if it gives you some ideas or solutions I haven't thought of.

As the project grows in size the load time increases. How does one control not loading all images ,divs,elements etc. until they're
needed on the timeline? For example some sections are off and only become visible when recalled. My projects slowly grow in size so loading
all images , is counter productive . My other option would be to create separate htmls but that breaks the seamless user experience .

1. you might think of making DVD backups first prior to importing the photos into Aperture. "Store Files: In their current location" once in Aperture make low rez Previews, and export finished Project.
or,
2. bring in the photographs to hard drive first prior to importing the photos into Aperture. "Store Files: In their current location" once in Aperture make low rez Previews, and export finished Project.
the low rez Previews will stay in Aperture but the high quality Versions will be exported onto DVDs and gone from the hard drive (if you delete the originals).
another way would be to export small about 50-70 pixel wide high quality jpegs to a folder on your Desktop and import & keep these in Aperture Library as a reference. make metadata to show where the original Project DVDs are stored and DVD filing system used.
