Can text be formatted when using 'Append report text.vi'?

The example that ships with LabVIEW 7 'Generate Report from Template (Word).vi' uses 'Append report text' to insert text into a word template via bookmarks.
My question is can this text be formatted in any way (e.g. fontsize, fontcolor, ...)? It seems I can't format the bookmark and I can't format the transmitted text. It always appears in Normal Arial 12pt.

this works well for formatting the whole report. I also found that the Word Format Text.vi placed directly behind the Append Report Text.vi changes the attributes for the previously inserted text at the bookmark.

Is it possible to control the order that text flows appear when using them as text insets?

I want to create multiple flows in a FrameMaker file which I can then insert as text insets. I would like to choose the inset using the Body Page Flow: dropdown list. However, there seems to be no order, alphabetical or otherwise, in which these flow appear in the drop down list. Is it possible to control this order, or is there a particular reason it appears the way it does?

IIRC, the flows are displayed in the order that they were created.

Controlling Access to Certain Reports When Using Crystal Reports Server

Hi,
I was wondering exactly how security is managed when using Crystal Reports Server? Do you assign rights to individual reports via user ids in Active Directory? Or what exactly is used for user authentication? Is it possible to create local accounts? Thanks.

Usually access is controlled by permissions which are set in the CMC (BO web admin tool). You can map 3rd party groups from AD or LDAP and then assign permissions to those groups or set up security with built in enterprise groups as well. You may elect to use any combination of the above. For more complex security models there can use database and row level security built into our meta layers called business views and universes.

Hi all,
Is there a way to amend this vi so that it will centre text or perhaps invent a new one?
I would greatly appreciate it as i need to centre alot of text on the page i print and can find no easy way to do it
Its just a standard report not an excel or word

You can certainly open the Append Report Text vi and modify it as you please. You should rename it though. If you ever re-install the report generation toolkit, it would overwrite your changes if you didn't rename it. However, I don't know how you would go about centering the lines you want to append. Perhaps counting the number of characters in the line to determine the number of blank spaces needed to be inserted in order to center the line.

Exclude certain objects in OM when using the report RHSTRU00

Hi,
I'd like to inquire if there is a way to exclude certain objects from appearing in RHSTRU00? For example,
Organization XYZ contains 3 org units:
Organization A - contains Position A - Employee A
Organization B - contains Position B - Employee B
Organization C - contains Position c - Employee C
Organization XYZ - contains Position XYZ - Employee XYZ
When using the eval path O-S-P with root object Organization XYZ, is there a way to exclude Position XYZ - Employee XYZ from the report output?

Yes, You can exclude the Position when executing the Report RHSTRU00 using Evaluation Path O-S-P.
Click on "Change Structure Conditions" Push button and give the following under structure conditions (Object Filter)
Check Object Type - Root Object Type - Root Object ID - Evaluation Path - Status
S - O - XXXXXXX - O-S-P - 1
Click on Continue.
Then execute. You can see the Positions are not displayed in the report.

Can't send mail when using mobile broadband

Hi
I am getting quite frustrated as I can't send mail when using my mobile broadband modem! I can receive mail, and surf the internet etc, but mail just wont send!(i get the usual cannot send try later/resend options). I thought this might be an issue with my mobile broadband but have recently reinstalled it. When at home on a wireless network I have no such issues.

(b) The freeparking SMPT server for some reason doesn't like being communicated with via your mobile broadband provider. I'd check with each of them to explore these options.

My modem(Huawei E220) is not particularly Mac friendly as it is, and I believe Mail can be quite sensitive when servers don't respond immediately?

This is by default , synchronized text does not alter any style and other visual attributes associated with instance.

How can I show only text edits and not text formatting when using print comments summary?

Acrobat 9.3.0 for Mac.
Here is the scenario: I used the Compare command to see the changes between 2 PDFs. The resulting file some edits are inserts and some are deletions. I want to print a comments summary only showing the text edits. In the Compare Option pane, I select Text and deselect Images, Annotations, Formatting, Headers/Footers, and Backgrounds. Now on the screen I see inserts are highlighted in blue and deletions are marked with sort of a caret and vertical bar symbol. So all looks good at this point. However, when I show the Comments List, I see addtional comments that indicate "Replace - The following text attributes were changed: fill color." Those comments do not appear in the page view unless I check the Formatting check box to show them. With Formatting unchecked, I print a comments summary and all of the "Replace - Fill Color" comments" appear on the resulting comments summary.
I only want to show text edits, not text formatting changes. So questions are:
1. Why, when the Formatting checkbox is unchecked, do the text formatting comments still appear in the comments list when they do not appear on the page display.
2. How can I print only the text content edits and not show the text formatting changes when using Print Comments Summary.

You can set ExecuteWithParams as default activity in the task flow then method activity to return total no of rows passing to Router activity if your method has value 0 then call Create insert operation else do directly to page.
Following idea could be your task flow
Execute With param (default) > SetCurrentRowWithKey > GetTotalNoOfRows (VOImpl Method)

1. If pageFlowScope outcome is 0 then call CreateInsert > MyPage

Why reports uses the .eps format when emailing a report?

Hi
If you select to send a report by email, it automatically
chooses the .eps format to send the report as an attachment.
I know it stands for "encapsulated post script" (I think...),
but is there a way to send in PDF format for example?
Till now, the user has to generate the report in PDF format
and then, manually, create an email and attach such file.
And what program opens such type of file (eps)?

The .eps format is a postscript format type used to send directly to the printer. I really don't know why this format is good but ...
A way to send an e-mail attachment in HTML, PDF or RTF format, is setting the parameters DESTYPE and DESFORMAT, but this way enforces you to create another way to trigger the e-mail cause the button e-mail in Oracle Reports uses .eps by default.
I suggest you to create a parameter form with the format option and trigger the reports by RUN_PRODUCT built-in. If you don't need to preview the report, set the properties in the parameter form and trigger the report normally.
DESTYPE=MAIL
DESFORMAT=PDF or DESFORMAT=HTML or DESFORMAT=RTF

How to NOT retain formatting when copying and pasting text

Captivate 7 keeps the formatting from my text sources when I paste into a Text Caption which is not what I need. Anything I could find in the forums where questions relating to "keeping" the source formatting. I don't want this, I want Captivate to keep its text formatting when I paste text into a text caption. I even did a test creating a new project and using one of the Cap 7 themes. If I paste text in the default capture caption style object, it retains the formatting of the copied text source. I have been working with Captivate 7 since a few months now and, until this morning, when I copied and pasted text from another source into my Captivate Text Caption, it retained the format of my Captivate Text Caption object. This is exactly what I need. How can I get this behavior back?

Well, first I would report it as undesired behavior and possibly ask for an enhancement that allows us to right-click and paste without formatting. Do this using the link below:

For now, you have a couple of options.
1. Perform a side trip. Open a text editor such as Windows Notepad or Apple Textpad and paste, then copy back to the clipboard. Then paste the text into the caption. (When pasting into the text editor, formatting is stripped)
2. On Windows machines, you can usually find a clipboard utility that allows you to paste as pure text. In fact, one such application is called PureText.

Parameters - Not Filling in when using Append all database values

Hello, I am using CR 2013 and trying to create a parameter which would be a list of organization names from a MySQL Database. I am able to see the tables and field names no problem but when I click Append all database values I get the circle and nothing appears. It should be noted I can see a list of values in the "Select Expert" for that same table and field.
I am running a Windows 7 machine.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or solutions.

are you using win 7 sp1 or higher as per the supported platforms. you probably are but have to ask.
i would recommend trying to create a new report off of the same db and try to use a dcp again. if that doesn't work, can you create a dcp (using a new report) off of a different database type...e.g. ms access?
is anyone else in your environment having the same issue?
if none of the above work it's most likely an install issue and you may wish to try an update of cr finding the latest sp here..

Pro 9.0 crashes when using typewriter, touchup text, and comment toolbar

When I try to type something using the typewriter tool or commenting toolbar, I can type a few letters and then I get an error message saying Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close. The error relates to the acrobat.dll file.
When I use the TouchUp text tool, I also get an error message but the file affected is the cooltype.dll file this time.
Anyone no how to fix this? I am using Windows XP.

frstrsystemI make a fix, here it is:
1) I launch acropro 9 on the server, I go to the view->toolbars->tasks menu to the "tasks" toolbar (which cause the crash).
2) on the server, run regedit and go to current user\software\adobe\adobe acrobat\9.0 and export this hive on a file like acrobat9_user.reg
3) create a acro9pro.cmd file with
regedit /S n:\scripts\acrobat9pro_user.reg
@start "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\" Acrobat.exe
save this file on the server
publish your app and call the CMD instead of the acrobat file
trick; you can map drive into the cmd so that user can access network shares and not only the server on.
