Can we design professional PHP websites in Dreamweaver CS6 ?

Can we design professional PHP websites in Dreamweaver CS6 ?

Dreamweaver is not a professional PHP IDE (integrated development environment). As such, it lacks PHP debugging capabilities and other features that a nice IDE has.
But you can code PHP in Dreamweaver, and it does have pretty good PHP syntax checking. So yes, you can create a PHP website using Dreamweaver.
A lot depends on what exactly you mean by "professional PHP website" and what your programming skill level is. The fact that you are asking this question tells me that your coding skills must not be great, because if they were, you would not need to ask this question. Dreamweaver is a much "friendlier" environment than a PHP IDE. You might find a PHP IDE like ZEND Studio to be overwhelming, in which case Dreamweaver would be your better choice.

Not Ben this time, but this video explains how to Export Muse site to your local hard drive.

Once it's saved to your local HD, you need to open DW and define a local site.  Go to Site > New Site > tell DW where your newly exported MU files are located on your HD.  See screenshot.

  • How do I "open-website" to open a Microsoft Frontpage 2003 website in Dreamweaver CS6?

I just purchased Dreamweaver and have several websites created and maintained only in Frontpage 2003 until now. I cannot find a way to "open-website" or "import-website" or "convert-website" or any other way to open my existing Frontpage 2003 websites into Dreamweaver CS6. Has anyone else done this?

If you want to create a DW site from existing files on your desktop...
    Site >  New Site
Give it a name and http address (if you have one)
    Next
    Next
    Select Edit Local Copies...
Browse to the folder your local files are in (or to the folder you want to download your files to)
    Next
    Set your FTP info
    Next
    Done
It's nearly the same if you want to grab files from the server. Instead of browsing to a folder with files in it, you browse to a folder you want to put your files in. Once you have the FTP set up and click Done, you'll have an empty Files tab in DW. Connect to the server (circular arrows) and click Get (down arrow) to get the entire site.

  • Need details on how to move existing website to Dreamweaver CS6 and to Business Catalyst web hosting

    Hi All,
I need assistance with transferring an existing website  - imagessays.com  -  (designed with Dreamweaver CS4) to my Creative Cloud CS6 account - and to web hosting by CS6 Business Catalyst.
…  step-by-step instructions would be most useful.  I've got the Dreamweaver CS6 onDemand book, etc.,  ...  I guess I’m just not enough of a geek to work my way through the steps and to get my site back moving ahead online.
Beyond that, need advice as to how to repair a couple of non-funcitonal links on the site (check out imagessays.com to see a couple of pics that don't work).  I'm looking forward to uploading more content and to do major upgrade to the site, but am unable to do so ... need technical support re how to do these simple (should be) things.
Since setting up the website over 5 years ago, I have migrated from Dreamweaver CS3 to CS4 .... and now to CS6 ...  and from a Dell XPS 450 running Windows XP to a Mac Pro desktop running Mac OS X.
These changes of version / machine / OS  have separated me from the ability to do the one simple thing that I need to do with this straightforward website, that is:  upload new pitchers and writins .
I look forward to assistance and support for this.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi Jim,

I'd open a local copy of the site in Dreamweaver CS6 and use the steps described in the video
Also, we have Dreamweaver and Business Catalyst (host) specific forums too. They should be able to help with specifics if you get stuck.

  • Where can I find my settings file in Dreamweaver CS6?

I was given a brand new computer two days ago by our IT staff.  They were kind enough to load all of my software onto the hard drive.  However, they did not migrate any of my settings over and now I have a problem.  All of my ftp information for my website was on the old hard drive, but I need to have all of that information to set up the new hard drive.
Can anyone point me in the proper direction?
    Ubiquitous information:
    Dreamweaver CS6 v 12.0 Build 5808
    Windows 7 OS
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!!

Without access to the actual DW program that used to be installed, you're going to be stuck manually adding your FTP when you re-create your site definitions for the new installation.

  • UPLOAD dreamweaver 3 website into Dreamweaver CS6?

How do I upload my website made in Dreamweaver 3 (old MAC) to my new Dreamweaver CS6 software ( on a 10.5 MAC)?
I did find the old website folder and it seemed to pick it up. I have no idea how to link the FTP host site. Also, is there an easy to follow book available? My site is very basic.
    Many Thanks!!!
    AJOY

Your website files do not reside in DW. They are stored on your local computer in a single folder we call the root folder.
That folder and its files needs to be copied to the new MAC
DW just talks to that folder using a site definition.
If your old MAC is still functioning, you could export its site definition (a .ste file) and import it to DW on the new MAC.
If the old machine is dead, simply define your site on the new machine.

  • Designing with web fonts | Learn Dreamweaver CS6 | Adobe TV

Web fonts have become an important part of many web designers' workflows. Dreamweaver CS6 adds support for web fonts through the new Web Fonts Manager. See how to use the Web Fonts Manager to add, manage, and apply web fonts throughout your sites.
    http://adobe.ly/IUFnwR

I've been wondering for ages why DW doesn't just show my web fonts in Design View, and now I'm none the wiser. Why doesn't Design View look at your fonts (not your system fonts, your folder fonts) and display them?
With Font Squirrel you don't even need to / or shouldn't even need to go through that rather bizarre "global" Web Fonts dialog. DW should just look at your fonts folder and work out it needs to display the fonts.
I'd give this first generation attempt 1/10.

  • Can you make a Testimonial  page in dreamweaver CS6

Is a Testimonial page hard to build in Dreamweaver CS6. I working in the fluid grid layout for a site and I was checking online and no real answers if someone wanted to comment on your site or respond to some work you did for them.
    Thanks for your time.
    Tom

Not quite sure how to answer this in a meaningful way for you. No, a testimonials page is not hard to make, but you need to have some skills with HTML and CSS to do so. Would the difficulty of doing this depend on whether you were using a fluid grid? No.
But the right way to do it is to use a data-dependent page, so that you keep your individual testimonials in a database and simply pull them out to be shown on the page.
What is your skill level with HTML and CSS (and with server scripting like PHP)?

This may not be the same tutorial, but lesson files are downloadable with it.

  • I can't find the tools panel in dreamweaver cs6.  I am on a PC.  I have tried to view all windows and toolbars.  Where is it?

I need the eyedropper tool in Dreamweaver CS6.  In all other Adobe programs it is in a Tools Panel on the left of the screen.  Where is it?

    DW doesn't have one.
Keep in mind, DW's interface is still very Macromedia-esque since it was acquired by Adobe.
What are you trying to do?
The answer to that will allow us to get you the directions you need to get it done.

  • Can't Login to Business Catalyst within Dreamweaver CS6

As my name implies, I am quite new to this stuff and learning as I go.
I am trying to login to the Business Catalyst panel in Dreamweaver CS6. When I click the login button on the panel, nothing happens. I doesn't ask for a password or anything. The button just doesn't do anything.
I just recently purchased a Creative Cloud Subscription. I had Dreamweaver before purchasing Creative Cloud, and the Business Catalyst account I am working with is owned by my employer. I was able to login to the Business Catalyst panel in Dreamweaver before getting Creative Cloud.
I am able to access the remote server for the site just fine.
I also tried to re-import the Business Catalyst site in Dreamweaver. When I click the import button, a blank window pops up, then dissappears. That's it.
The same thing happens when I attempt to create a new Business Catalyst site.
Any suggestions would help, please. Thanks!

Okay, just had the same issue and found where the problem is and how to workaround the problem (bug has been reported).
The scenario Adobe didn't cover is when you have already logged in to Business Catalyst via Dreamweaver CS 6 and saved your password.  The extension keeps you "logged in" with that username and password until you logout.  So if you have changed your login details online with Business Catalyst.  You must come back into Dreamweaver, go to Windows and open the Business Catalyst Window and logout, and then login again now with your new credentials.  The ability to see your sites for importing will show up again.  I have told Adobe that they need to check if the login credentials don't match, that instead of saying "There are no sites to be found" it needs to say that the login credentials don't work and prompt the user to add the credentials again in the Business Catalyst Side Panel Window (which by default is now undocked from the side panel).
The challenge I am looking for, is to allow multiple administrators to be able to use their respective Business Catalyst login account to access the same site.

  • Can't view Wordpress PHP files in Dreamweaver CC.

    Mac. MAMP.
I have downloaded my full site hosted on xxxx into MAMP htdocs.
Download directly from root public_html on host.
I keep getting "Dynamically-related files could not be resolved because the site definition is not correct for this server"
Even if I go "live view" and set - Web URL to: www.indochinaexplorers.com (my site) - instead of http://localhost, it comes up with a lot of PHP boxes.
Been through all tutorials for more than a week.
Have been through all possible settings and configurations under "Manage Site"
Did a Test - New PHP page. Same thing, it does not show, design or live view.
    So stuck,
    Thanks Peter

I have the same issue and none of the alleged Guru's that answered have provided anything useful.  Solid Web Design is about workflow, which could lead to innovation if people would stop reverse innovation language...Dreamweaver could be a viable wordpress solution if it worked as it's supposed to. CC is a bust as the focus has shifted to mobile first.
There are no "real pages" for you to edit in DW; just code fragments.
Wordpress is dynamically driven but this is untrue.  Every PHP file in a theme has structure and is a "real page".  Fragments have to be in a "file" to be called, they are not called out of thin air.  If I want to style page.php, it cannot be done without first adding selectors.  #mainContent for example. The only thing php does is add dynamic functionality.  Page.php can be altered and saved as Page_fullwidth.php, Page_Music.php ,Page_webDesign.php and they can all have a different layout in the same theme.  Else there would be no templates to choose from in the static page section of the WP Admin area.
Themes drive the appearance and functionality of your WP site.  If you need a new look, find a different Theme and install it from your WP Dashboard.
    How does this help?
Unless you are very familiar with PHP code and more specifically the PHP code WP uses, you will not have good results working in DW.   You really must use the WP Dashboard to manage your content, Themes, and plugins.
This has nothing to do with the issue.  The issue is Dreamweaver simply does not allow propper editing of wordpress sites in a dynamic environment.  No one ever said they didn't know anything about php, creating wordpress themes, plugins, and so on...
Dear next genius..Since the question has already been asked, I won't ask it again, but the original inquiry is my issue as well.  If you have figured out how to make this work, please respond, if not, please don't.

  • How can I run local PHP websites on OS X Maverick?

Should I install a web server? If yes, which one do you suggest?

XAMPP seems to be better supported then MAMP. The problem with these standalone installers is that they literally include everything. If you actually use some of the more unusual modules, you may have problems if you want to deploy onto a shared web hosting service. They may not have those modules and it may not be possible to add them. Even if it is possible to add them, don't assume it will be easy. Those services run Linux and even in 2014, setting up something as basic as a web server may still require modifying source code in C. I kid you not.
If you want to enable the built-in web server in OS X, I have a User Tip that explains how: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3083

  • Hosting my Website by Dreamweaver CS6, get me connected to my server. Ok!  But then when I click Site/Put nothing happens? what do I need to do to host my site? Benjamin

I want to host my Dreamweaver files on my website. I get to where Dreamweaver is able to connect to my server. I press Ok, then Save, then Done. Then I press Site/Put--and nothing happens! I got all the information about Root Directory (leave blank) etc., from my server Godaddy. So what am I doing wrong? Benjamin

Not sure if this is your problem, I have come across this on a number of occasions when I put the files.
The problem occurs when I have Local view selected and the files are uploaded to the Testing server rather than the Remote server. In this case, I first select Remote server, wait until the files panel has been populated, then go back to Local view and put my files.

  • Uploading website in Dreamweaver CS6

I have already created my website and was wondering what the steps are to upload it. I have tried to look through the tutorials but can not find anything. Do you have to go through your webhost to upload it?

Most probably you will need to contact your webhost to get the necessary instructions but first see this video to get the feeling of what is involved so that you know what info to get from your webhost:
    <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__oDRVhVR7A>
There are some basic info required to setup the FTP protocol in your DW.
    Good luck.
