Can we post to two real cost objects?

how many cost objects can we use at the time of posting? and how many real objects can we use at the time of posting? as far as my knowledge we can use one real object. but in one interview , the interviewer said that we could use two real objects? if he is correct, please give clarification on this.
Thank you for your valuablt time and valuable answer  in advance

Hi,
You can always do manual reposting like you pass Journals in FI. Or for that matter when you do allocation of expenses using Distribution.
Basic idea is you cannot debit 2 cost objects for the same expenses at the same time. as long as you follow the accounting principle of debiting one cost object & crediting another, that is allowed.

  • Depreciation posting for two different Cost Centers

    Hello everybody,
My client has an asset that was assigned to Cost Center #1 from the 1st of january to the 20th. Then it was reassigned to Cost Center #2. (Cost Center is configured to be a time dependent field).
We were expecting the system to split the depreciation amount into these two Cost Centers at the end of the month. Apparently we were expecting too much. The depreciation amount is going completely to Cost Center #2 wich is incorrect.
Do you think that there is something missing in the configuration? Or SAP just does not split the depreciation amount according to the time intervals? If that is impossible, do you have any alternative solutions?
    Thanks a lot,
    Plácido

    Distribution of Depreciation and Interest
It is only possible to enter one cost center in the asset master record. You distribute depreciation and interest to different cost centers using settlement within Controlling (CO). The cost center in the asset master record then serves the function of a distribution cost center.
The disadvantage of this approach is that reports show only the distribution cost center, and not the cost centers that are actually debited. Also, you need to create a separate cost center for the distribution.
A different approach is to follow this procedure:
    ·        Determine the cost center that you want to be shown in asset reports as the cost center of the asset. Enter this cost center in the asset master record.
    ·        Enter an internal order in the asset master record. The system then posts to this order when it posts depreciation. The system does not post to the cost center.
    ·        Settle the internal order to the cost centers that you want to debit.

  • In one FI posting can we have two real objects?

    Hi All,
When I am posting FI document with two real Objects (WBS & Cost Center) still system is accepting and created document.
As per My knowledge in FI Document only one real object to be accept but my case it taking two real cost object, why?
Is there any logic & activity and change any setting for this?
    Thank you
    Anil

    Hi,
you can enter CO objects of more than one type in the FI document, but there is a "hierarchy" among the different object types that decides, which object gets the "real" posting. All other objects will only get a statistical posting, even if they are configured to allow real postings ( are "real objects" in your terms) .
    Examples:
You enter a cost center and an internal order in the document: --> order gets real posting, center statistical.
You enter a profitablitiy segment and an internal order in the FI document --> segement gets real posting, order statistical one.

  • Cost object for Revenue Item?

    Dear friends
When I am posting sales entry in F-02, system is asking Cost Object.
I have given Cost Center as a Cost Object. In the control tab I have removed lock for Actual Revenues also.
Even after this also system is asking the Cost Object. And I am getting the below error:
Account 301001 requires an assignment to a CO object
    "Message no. KI248
    Diagnosis
All given account assignment objects (order, project) are defined as statistical.
    System Response
Statistical orders or projects are ignored when FI and CO are reconciled. You must enter a cost center, order, project, or cost object to which the costs are posted for CO postings.
    Procedure
Enter a cost center, an order, a project, or a cost object that is not statistical. The posting row affected is 002 and the account is 301001."
    Regards
    Kiran A

Revenues posted to cost center always statistical postings only. System is looking for real cost object. Go to profit segment field and derive manually to post to profit segment. Otherwise you need a Internal Order or Sales order

  • Error in Distribution of Actual cost in Cost Object Hierarchy

    Hi,
I am getting an error while doing the Distribution of Actual cost from Cost Object Node to the assigned Order.
Cost element/origin 630000 could not be distributed
    Message no. KZ468
    Diagnosis
The cost element/ origin 630000 could not be distributed because there are no target costs for this cost element/origin or for cost element group CO-PC-TOT.
    Procedure
Check the calculated target costs and cost element group CO-PC-TOT assigned to the target cost version.
    Procedure for System Administration
    Proceed
Although the Cost element is Present in cost element group CO-PC-TOT.
One more information, the order  that is assigned in Cost Object Hierarchy is of CO-Product orders.
I have searched in the forum but I havent got any solution.
    Kindly help.
    regards
    Kami

    Hi,
Concerning error message KZ 468, it has the following origin: In the  customizing of the cost object category (transaction okz5), check if the 'single object selection' is set to 'Control through variance key'. If you consider the F1-Help for this option you will find the following  explanation:
if the indicator Control through variance key is turned on, the production order, process order, or product cost collector can only be assigned to the cost object hierarchy if:
-> The material is assigned to the lowest node of the hierarchy
-> No variance key is specified in the order
The important point is, that orders that have a variance key are excluded from the cost distribution.
In transaction KKF8 you will find that all these orders do indeed have  a variance key. Hence, all of these orders are included, there are no target costs from the orders and the costs cannot be distributed. Thus the error message kz 468.
Please consider that and check the customizing again.
Not having target costs in the distribution indicates either a wrong set up of the hierarchy or, more likely, no valid cost estimate for a certain material of a production order or product cost collector could be found.
Did you check whether for this cost element/origin target costs exist, and also for the cost element group? If not the message KZ468 is correct and probably the cost element group has to be maintained properly.
The distribution of actual costs calculates target costs on-the-fly and the variance calculation does not have to be carried out before. Quite the opposite than the variance calculation requires the distribution as a preceding step. Furthermore it is not sufficient that one cost element is in a cost element group but the interval where the cost element has been assigned to has to have some target costs. Otherwise this won't work and message KZ468 is issued.

  • Network as Statstical cost object

    Hi All,
Can we use Network as Statstical cost object like WBS Elements.
    Regards
    N.Raju

    Hi
I think you cannot use Network as Statstical cost object like WBS Elements, because you can allot the budget only WBS level. for Network order you will not able allot any budegts in STD SAP.

  • KI235 - can post without cost object if select "continue" in profit segment

Hello all,  I have a GL account where cost object is required.  This works correctly and KI235 error message is given.  However, if I go into the profitability segment and select CONTINUE - even though no cost object is assigned, SAP allows posting to the account without any cost object.
This seems to be a bug in SAP but I couldn't find any OSS notes related to it.  We are on ECC6.0 and did a support pack upgrade in April.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Hi Sridhar,

In my case is with the electronic bank statements.

    Hi All,
we facing an  issue with sales order cost objective vs OKB9 cost object.
For IC PO service material, we assigned account assignment category 4.Reasonis Service material was not showing on G\R account.
The G\L account 7898788, we assigned to Service Item (material type DIEN)  , for G\Cost 7898788 cost element is assigned in OKB9. Combination business + order 3478787.

  • Shipment Cost Document Posting of two different G/L Accounts

    Hi All,
Shipment cost document posting should happen to two different G/L Accounts based on Division of the Material. If suppose there are two divisions 10 & 20.While posting happening in shipment cost document the material belongs to 10 Division must post to one G/L Account and material belongs to 20 Division should post to another G/L Account.
Please let me know the possible solutions.
    Regards
    Sunil

    Hi Lakshmipathi,
Thanks for your reply, We are working on the STO scenario and the client requirement is if the material is in 10 Division it should post to one G/L account and if the division is 20 it should post to another G/L account in shipment cost document.
Normally postings in shipment cost document postings will occur mainly by the Item category and Valuation class based on the shipment cost document type.In standard we can do this by providing two shipment cost document type and two valuation classes and two item categories.
I want to know whether it is possible with a single shipment cost document type.

  • Post to multiple cost object

    hi,
if at the same time there is posting to more than 1 co object, for example to cost center and copa or other combination of cost object, how do i know to which co object is real posting and which co object is just statistical?
    thanks

    Hi,
When we post to Internal Orders and Cost Centers, then Cost Centers will be taken as statistical if Inter Order is a Real Order.
in the case where u mentioned Cost center and Profit Center, Profit center is always a statistical posting irrespective of the other cost objects.
So Not to compare PC with CC.
if simulteneous postings are made to Cost Center and either COPA or Internal Order (real), COPA Segment or Internal Order will have superceding effect than Cost Center
I hope you got the concept.
Please award points suitably if you are satisfied with the answer.  else please let me know for further clarifications
    Best Regards

  • MIRO Error-Can not post to mat.account & using overhead cost centre &.

    Dear Colleagues,
On MIRO,users have come across this error where they can not post to a particular G/L account using 2 different cost centres(219 & 220).
We have some validations on OB28 but although one particular step menitons this message as I stated above, the prerequisite of that step seem to be referring to G/L IN VAL_Plant No_16 AND Cost Center IN VAL_Plant No_17.
Whereabouts I need to maintain this G/L account/Cost Centre Combination?II had a look at OME9/OKB9 but couldn't get any resolution looking over there...
    All Help appreciated.
    PAPJ1.

I had to tweak the types  of error messages on OB28 temporarily,to allow for these postings to go through and it worked!.

  • Category for message 06356: No delivery costs can be posted in case of mult

    Hi experts!
I know why the system issues message "06356: No delivery costs can be posted in case of multiple account assignment", but I need to set this message as an ERROR because it is a WARNING by default.
I tried it via SPRO -> Materials Management -> Purchasing -> Environment Data -> Define Attributes of System Messages, but it doesn't works. Although I set the message as an ERROR I tested and it is a WARNING message.
I tried via SM30 with no positive results.
    Do you have any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Message 06356 is coded in standard as warning
and cannot be changed through customising
Message 06 356 is hardcoded as "Warning"
Review of the Abap code reveals the message is hardcoded, see:
    Include: MM06EF0W_WE_RE_KENNZEICHEN
    :  mmpur_message 'I' '06' '356' '' '' '' ''.
If you wish to change this message to an error you will have to modify the code.
It is not possible in the standard to set this message as an error
Delivery costs are not posted for documents with multiple account
    assignment in Release 46C.
This was allowed in releases 3.0, but this functionality was deactivated
in Release 4.0A for design reasons. For more information on this issue,
    please, see note 77789.
In the note it is stated that:
"Even if you do not delete the delivery costs, the system does not
process them during the goods receipt, the invoice receipt and in the
       purchase order commitments."

  • How to populate the sales order as a cost object in cost element posting

When posting sales to a cost element the error comes up stating Account ******** requires an assignment to a CO object.
This comes from the sales (repair) order and I would like to pass the sales order and line as a cost object.
Could someone please tell me where I would make the configuration to pass that into the accounting document?
    Thank you,
    Sergiy

    Snavaneetha,
unfortunatelly I don't have access to any CO consultants that could help me on this one. We are a small company so I am an unofficial CO consultant for time being
Anyway, maybe I should post this one on the CO forum as well.
I looked at the material master and I don't see the field for the GL account or cost element anywhere like you said. I do see the account assignment group and that's where my account determination procedure determines the right one to use, and it is trying to post to the account I need it to post but I get the above error, for some reason the sales order that I am billing for does not get passed at a cost object to this cost element account during billing.

  • Cost object for raw material consumption posting

the raw material cosumption posting is done in the background when the goods issue is done. so where do we assign cost object for the primary cost element of raw material consumption account. since we create primary cost element for raw material consumption account, it will expect us to give cost object, so where we assign cost object for the raw material consumption cost element

    hi
since the raw material cost is relevent for cost accounting u need to maintain primary cost elment accounts. When ever u confirm goods, the rm issue will take place automatically and will be debited to either product cost collector or production order. so u need not to assign any cost object for these consumption accounts why bcoz issues will take palce aganist a production order or product cost collector which is a cost object .

    Hi
I do not think that you will get a reply now as it has been too long.
Maybe the answer is not known.
However as the forum is growing and it takes so much time to get through all of the pages it would be nice to keep it current so could you please close your thread and either re-open a new one (this might help as people are more likely to look at curret ones) or try another forum.
This will make life easier for everyone
