Can Web Intelligence display time in 24-hour clock format?

I would appreciate your kind help in answering this question:  How can I change the time format in a formula so as to display time in the 24-hour clock format?
Presently the CurrentTime() value format looks like this  :  02:26:25 PM GMT-04:00
Instead, I want it displayed in the 24-hour clock format like this  :  14:26
I'm developing Web Intelligence reports in the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.2 InfoView environment.
I searched several places for an answer to this question, but had no luck.
I searched the BusinessObjects Enterprise InfoView online help document (i.e., Web Intelligence Java Report Panel); I also searched two web sites: the Experts-Exchange website, and the BOB www.forumtopics.com website.
I figured out that there is built in conversion function FormatDate() that can convert a date value into a text value, as for example :  FormatDate( CurrentDate(); "mmmm dd, yyyy" )
However, I have not found an equivalent time function that would convert a time value into a text value of a specified format.

Anil,
     Perfect;  you answered my question!
The only thing that I had to do differently was to leave off the quote marks from the string "HH:mm:ss" when I entered it into the Custom Date/Time box of the Number Format dialog window.
While on this subject of the Number Format dialog window, I saw that the Date/Time box already held the following string value:
                FULL_DATE
So, thinking that I should leave that value alone, I entered the string "HH:mm:ss" in the box labeled "Undefined" next to the Date/Time box, instead.  That didn't work.  It just caused the webi report to display the CurrentTime() value as a long date, like this:
               Friday, July 9, 2010
So then I replaced the string "FULL_DATE" (without the quotes) with the string "HH:mm:ss" (first with and then without the quotes).  In the first try, the report displayed the time as "14:20:34"; in the second try, the report displayed the time as 14:20:34.
     Questions:
     Can you please tell me:
     1. What is the meaning and usage of the label FULL_DATE?
     2. In my attempts to get the time formatted the way I wanted it to look, I filled the Properties list (of the Number Format dialog window) with junk labels such as those listed below.  How can I delete these labels?
               FULL_DATE; "HH:mm:ss"
               FULL_DATE
               FULL_DATE
               FULL_DATE; "HH:mm:ss"
     3. What is the purpose of the box labeled "Undefined" next to the Date/Time box?

Fell silly being unable to find where to do this
    Thank you for any help

    Hi,
You need to change the way the time is displayed in System Preferences > International > Formats (for Snow Leopard look in 'Language & Text' instead of 'International'). Click the 'Customize...' button by 'Times'.
Change the 'Short:' time by clicking the drop down triangle in the hour token and changing the option from '1-12' to '0-23' or '00-23' depending on which you prefer. Then remove the 'PM" token from the 'Short' field.
Let me know how it goes.
    Best wishes

  • 24-hour clock format?

In the previous version of Apple Discussions I was able to set the time displayed in 24-hour clock format, how can this be done in the current version of Apple Support Communities?

I understand your point, but this change has been in the works for a very long time, and the fact is, as you say, you have to release at some point to stress test. There aren't that many issues with iOS—the forums are mainly usable on iPads and so on—so while those details are being worked out, it's probably best to move this out of beta testing and into the real world, so here we are.
I happen to be very happy with the new format. I've been through at least three of these upheavals over the years, and imo, this is easily the smoothest transition we've seen. Many people working very long hours behind the scenes (props to Matt_K. here!) to smooth everything out and introduce many, many more features in the near- and mid-term, so be patient and give it a little bit of time (more than these few days anyway!)
    Good luck!

I could not record more than an hour on my Iphone 4 of 16 G.
The one-hour video occupies 3.5 G. I have 10 G free others so that space is not the problem. Are there any special configuration program or to record longer?
    It can record lower resolution?

  • Time on 24 hour clock after midnight

Just got a 17" MacBook Pro today, and noted that when midnight passed (doesn't everyone stay up past midnight after getting a new Mac?) the clock changed day of the week, but unlike my iMac G5, on which the clock changes to 00:00:01 and onward, the MBP's clock changed to 24:00:01 and onward.
Sent a test email to another of my accounts, and, sure enough, Mail shows it sent "Today" at 24:27:52, and received "Today" at 24:30:31.
Do those "unusual" times not cause file sorting problems?

    Aha!
    My error.
There are two "24" hour settings in "International" Format. One is 00 thru 23, and the other 01 thru 24. In my haste to get the machine set up, I only noticed the 01 thru 24 setting, and assumed that to be the "correct" one, and the one I wanted, but .... , it wasn't ...
    Thanks, anyway,

  • I am trying to change the display time in Captivate 5...

When I try to shorten the length of a slide either in properties or by clicking the end and dragging it, like in Captivate 4, it keeps going back to the original time.  Normally I record a demonstration and when I am done adding the effects and the voice I have to shorten or lengthen a slide, but I am unable to do this in CP5.  Please help.

    Hello,
If the slide is longer than 3 sec you can change the 'Display time' in the Properties panel, General section too. But here you cannot get below 3 sec. Dragging in the timeline allows me to go below 3 sec, but you have first to shorten the timeline of the objects before you can change the duration of the slide. To be sure I just tried again and was able to get to a minimum time of 0.1 sec with that workflow. In the screenshot it is 0.3 sec. If you have FMR, video or audio however the duration of that object will be responsable for the duration of the slide.
Hope it works for you too, cannot explain why it is not possible with the Properties panel, which will show correctly the duration after you changed it with the Timeline.

  • Web Intelligence export to Excel misses some fields

    Hi,
Our system is running BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 with SP3 (no fix packs).  The behavior I'm seeing is when exporting a particular Webi doc to Excel.
Here is some background info for the document I am attempting to export to Excel. The doc contains a section and the section has a crosstab including description header cells.  I have added an additional cell at the top of the section with section specific information in it- nothing that strange yet.  If my InfoView (Web Intelligence) preferences is set so that 'Select a priority for saving to MS Excel' is set to 'Prioritize easy data processing in Excel' then the exported document is missing the additional cell at the top of the section (all other data is fine).  If the setting is set to 'Prioritize the formatting of the documents' then the Excel export works perfectly.
My question is why would this be?  The cell is just a simple dimension (string).  My only fear about changing this Excel setting is that there is a warning in the 'Business Objects XI 3.1 Release Notes' guide.  It states
Large Web Intelligence documents should be saved to Excel format using the "Prioritize data processing" option". The generated Excel might not open if the document is large and saved with the "prioritize formatting" option.
    Thanks,
    Steve

We are experiencing similar issue using BO 4 SP2 Patch 10 when exporting to Excel with setting 'Prioritize easy data processing in Excel'.  Exporting data worked after changing WEBI settings to 'Prioritize the formatting of the documents'
Documentation regarding this option states following:
"Under "Select a priority for saving to MS Excel", select the option that best fits your needs:
u2022 If you want to display the data in a format that is similar to working in Web Intelligence, then
choose Prioritize the formatting of the documents.
u2022 If you want to display the data in a text format, then choose Prioritize easy data processing in
    Excel."
If I understand this explanation correctly then both options should have extracted the same content to Excel. Difference should have been how the contents were formatted and should not have caused loss of information.
I logged support ticket for this issue.

  • How to select 12-hour clock in iPhone?

I'm using my iPhone 3G in the UK and would prefer to use the 12-hour rather than 24-hour clock format. Unfortunately the "24-Hour Time" on/off slider in Settings is grayed out and stuck on 24-hour format. How can I make this selection active so I can turn off the 24-hour format?

Basically your stuffed. If you want a 12 hour clock you need to use the USA settings, the problem then is that the date format is up the spout and the calendar in month view starts with a Sunday! Come on Apple give us in the UK the 12 hour option!

    Output for this formula :

  • OS X 24-hour Clock (differences in OS X 10.5, 10.6)

I found out that if you set the Menu bar clock to display 24-hour in in OS X 10.5, it only affects that display. In menus and most everywhere else if you desire the time/date format to include 24-hour clock formatting, you must set up each parameter in 'International' in System Preferences (hours format, AM/PM). Once set there, the format applies universally (regardless how your Menu Bar clock is set). Here's how...
Setting for 24-hour clock in Leopard requires setting up the clock hours format (drop down pattern choices) to 00-23 hours (0-23 hours) AND deleting both 'AM' & 'PM' in the appropriate boxes.
Is there any more direct way to change the system clock from AM/PM 12-hour clock to 'military time' (aka 24-hour clock), in Leopard?
Curiously, in Snow Leopard (SL) all the above is changed by 'tweaks' in Clock settings that carry that selection to the international settings when the box for '24 hour clock' is checked. Also in SL, the (System Preferences>)Language & Text settings for Medium, Long, Full have become irrelevant (and don't affect the displayed info in menus or menu bar clock) when 24-hour clock is enabled in Time & Date. There now, if you select 24 hour clock, the AM/PM display becomes grayed out. Just some more interesting little 'tweaks'.
If you use use 24-hour clock (sometime soon) and need to set it with some machines on SL, and some on Leopard, the differences may get confusing.

  • How can Maximum Display Time in Chart Recorder be increased to hours/days?

Error message displayed when Recorder Display Time (X-Axis) is increased beyond ~0.25 hours, saying maximum display time has been reached.  MUST be able to display time in range of days - although since data display rate (not Dasylab sampling rate, display rate separately controlled through pulse generator) is very slow (i.e. 1 sample/5 minutes, 0.0033Hz) total data quantity is not large.
Please help..there must be a way around this!! Thanks

The maximum display time in the Chart Recorder is based on a computation of how much memory is available to be allocated. The computation includes the block size, sample rate, as well as the amount of memory on the computer.
To display more time, you must reduce the amount of data to reduce the effective sampling rate being charted. You can use the Average Module or the Separate module to accomplish this.
There are some conditions where the actual sampling rate and the channel sampling rate are not the same - triggered data is an example of this, and data from the RS232 Input and ICOMS Input may be labeled in a way that leads the Chart Recorder to believe that the data channel has more data than it does.
Please provide more information about your application - what is the data source of the data that you are displaying, what is the sampling rate and block size? How much memory does your computer have?

  • Can I do the following in BO Web Intelligence XI??

I am building a report for the hospital I work, being a Web developer, and wokring on cli nical reports has not been easy but I am trying getting some help
I have the specification of building a report that would give me the number of days that a central line has been present on a any patient in a month.
I have a unique identifier for patient , encounter and visit (ids) and a date column for when the clinical event happens .
Now how would I approach this in BO WebI.?
What would be the logic knowing that
-some patients have the line only a very short amount of time hours , that which will count as a day. -Some patients have it for 4 days and so forth.
How can accumulate that kind of information in a report and bring it up each end of the month.
E.g. Patient was on a central line on 9/28/10 Until 10/02/10
Central Line duration was 4 days. save this and do the following for all month ....
Thanks experts hopefully someone can give me a good starting point on the ellaboration of this report. Is it possible ..
Currently I only show an snapshot of what what the data is now . When the report is run but how do I count all the days >??

Thanks, but would Web Intelligence accumulate the values so when the report is run can I get a total per month if so what would be the approach to calculate this results ,  Suppose I have a variable as flag that gives yes or no (1,0) and sum each day data . So in a day I have 40 . How do I create a calcuylation montly based on that totals?
    Thanks

as an administrator can I set a time limit and control having inappropriate sites displayed on my "administrator" usage?

Parental Controls can be used to set time limits, to allow the computer to be used only within specific hours of the day, and to block certain Web sites (or to allow only certain Web sites). However, they can be applied to a Standard account only, not to an admin account.
