Can you give some real-life use of tables in BW?

In reading links and notes from here, I took a leap to try and understand how tables are used in the BW environment, by following:
se16
RSZ* then F4
then I Double click on:
i.
RSZRANGE        Selection specification for an element
If execute, I get a table with a several fields with values.
What is this table suppose to tell me and can you give me a real-life scenario where you made use of such a research to solve a problem?
ii.
RSZOPRATOR       Formula Operators
similarly, here I found fields with operators and mostly numbers.
What is this table suppose to tell me and can you give me a real-life scenario where you made use of such a research to solve a problem?
iii. Later I tried RSU* then
RSUPDDAT        Update rules key figures
Nothing recognizable here about the update rules.
What is this table suppose to tell me and can you give me a real-life scenario where you made use of such a research to solve a problem?

Also, sometimes here conversations like, research on which tables have the fields you need and lets generate reports against them. I though tin BW, reports are always generated against data targets (ODS, Cubes, etc). I didnt know of tables.
Can you give a real-life scenario where you had to combine fields in 2 or 3 tables and use them in project?

There are many scenarios where you can use the tables behind the screen. But most of the times the scenarios are sophisticated requirement. Suppose your installation has many data targets and all are getting loaded nightly, weekly or even monthly intervals. Usually in most places the person on call will go and look at all the targets in the morning whether all the loads are successful (they would have beeped if something faild during loading at nights). Instead of going thru this manual process you can write an ABAP program which will look at the infocubes and ODS and see how many records were added, transferred, updated success or failure all kinds of information.
RSA1 is just a front end and all the information you see are all coming from tables which are stored here. go to SE80 or SE11 and search for the tables behind the screens. Every bit of detail that you see is coming from tables or available in tables. There are many tables and they are all relational. So you can pretty much do anything you like in accessing them. Please just read (SELECT) from them. Don't try to delete, insert anything unless you know what you are doing absolutely.

In my opinion and experience both functional and technical staff playkey roles in the fit-gap meetings and in the subsequent review of thefit-gap deliverable (which lists business requirements, fits, gaps, andalternatives to fill the gaps). Ideally the technical staff possessessignificant functional / business experience at least with that moduleso that he/she can help determine the cost/effort/technical scope if acustomization or interface is the preferred way to fill a particulargap. The fit-gap goes a long way in determining the overall scope ofthe implementation or upgrade project and is a critical success factor.It also needs to be completed very early in the project so thatresulting customizations and interfaces can be designed, created, andunit tested before the system test phase.

actually, i am assigned a task to do a preliminary study about whether Flex is a good candidate for revamp my
company's core application (about healthcare -- that serve many patients a year)..
currently, the application is written in powerbuilder, which consist of the following functions (in simplest and in technical term):
1. draw picture and show image (for diagnosis )
2. create report dynamically and print report (PB datawindow)
3. integrate with OS (mainly win32 dll / C library...etc) for third party equipment (e.g. thermo printer, credit card / debit card reader, medical
    equipments...etc)
4. integrate with other systems (through HTTP, FTP or web service)
5. barcode generation ....1D, 2D or even QR code..etc
i have created a sample application, with flex builder 3, to evaluate:
1. draw picture and show image
     ==> simple line/ dot / polygon, is there any good and common library for drawing?
2. create report dynamically and print report (PB datawindow)
    ==> use jasperreport (in server side) and jasrereport flash viewer (code modification required to add print and paging function)
            to show report and print report.... is there a good reporting solution for flex?
   ==> dynamic report generation seem difficult...need to build from scratch?
3. integrate with OS (mainly win32 dll / C library...etc) for third party equipment (e.g. thermo printer, credit card / debit card reader...etc)
   ==> seems impossible with flex due to security issue. require activex or java applet and javascript with externalinterface..
4. integrate with other system (through HTTP, FTP or web service)
   ==> HTTP OK (with seems no buildin HTTP basic authentication support, require to add header by code)
   ==> web service OK (but no buildin ws-security X.509, SAML supported, [user name token profile support by using 3rd library])
5. barcode generation
   ==> not test
i haven't test all other functionality yet.... but after playing flex for a while,
i am not confident that i should go ahead with flex for the application revamp...
it seems flex is strong in UI...but weak for other functionality...especially integration with other systems....
anybody have some reference materials / opinion for me that can convince me to invest more effort about evaluation of flex?

All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc. Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones. I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch.
As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great. And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen. And cool colors!

What you are asking is beyond the scope of this forum.
It's sort of equivalent to asking for step-by-step instructions for using cruise control for someone who has never driven a car before.
You will need to take some time to learn the program before you can successfully create work in it.

Can you give me an example of using blacklist from in mail settings to block unwanted mail?

I want to use serveradmin settings mail command line to set a list of domains/servers I do not want to receive emails from. Can you give me an example on how to set this in ML server?
I managed to set the domains using the command line serveradmin but it is not working. This is a list of domains I have set so far:
mail:postfix:blacklist_from:_array_index:0 = "bounces.servidordeenvio.com"
mail:postfix:blacklist_from:_array_index:1 = "reiserver50.info"
mail:postfix:blacklist_from:_array_index:2 = "vps5.central-adworks.com.br"
mail:postfix:blacklist_from:_array_index:3 = "emailTrocar.com.br"
mail:postfix:blacklist_from:_array_index:4 = "geeklemail21.com.br"
mail:postfix:blacklist_from:_array_index:5 = "produtosnotaveis.org"
But I still keep receiving emails from those domains with virus (which are intercepted by the virus filtering) and receiving alert messages from the server app suggesting me to include these domains in a blacklist.

I tried it out and did not work either but I finally found a way to add multiple entries. I read on the serveradmin man page that if you had multiple values you should better off use a file for input.
I did create a plain file with as many as needed entries:
mail:postfix:blacklist_from:_array_index:0 = "*@xxx.com"
mail:postfix:blacklist_from:_array_index:1 = "*@xxxx.com"
saved as blacklist then I issued the command:
sudo serveradmin settings < blacklist
This solved the setting of multiple values. I will monitor if it will really block the spam from the locations.

Can you remove some of the Default applications

I want to give an iPod Touch to my mother who is technically challenged and doesn't have WiFi.
I only want the iPod functionality, not the browsers, email, maps, or any other feature.
Is there a way to disable or remove default apps that you don't want?
ps: I do not want an iPod classic., it''s interface is harder to learn than the touch.

I too would like to remove some of the default apps. Personally, I find the YouTube, Stocks, and Maps, useless to me and its just a waste of icon space. And whats with the "The touch may not be for you". Seriously, if someone wants a touch but doesn't want some of the default apps, that doesn't mean the touch is not for someone. I think it would be a smart move for Apple to revise the iPod (and iPhone, if people can't remove default apps on there) so that we may remove the default apps that we don't use. It makes absolutely no sense to just "move" the app to the back if we don't even use the app. That's like saying "you may not have any use for this app, but its here because we want to force you to keep the junk we give you". And it sounds a lot like a Microsoft move for the all the Windows operating systems they have released (up to Vista, so far) forcing Internet Explorer on all its users and not allowing us to remove it because it was integrated into the Operating System. Supposedly, Microsoft is growing up and letting the user to actually disable (maybe even remove) Internet Explorer in the upcoming Windows 7. What about Mac OS X, does it force Safari on its users, like its forcing some of these unnecessary apps onto the iPod Touch? I wouldn't don't know, I don't earn quite enough money to buy myself an iMac or MacBook (and I've even heard from several people that its more expensive to get a gaming Mac than a gaming PC with similar hardware configuration). Only Apple product I own so far is an iPod Touch.
But I will give Anna credit. Anna at least answered the question.
The question was "Can you remove some of the default applications" and a response saying "What is your mother going to use it for? Maybe the Touch is not the right device for her." by "D'Fish'N'Seas" does not answer the question at all. The question has nothing to do with what the mother is going to use the iPod for, so don't post a response like that, its one of the reasons that causes short tempered people to flame other people.
Ok, so since Anna answered the question that Ron asked. I have a question related to this topic, and if Ron is still wanting to remove some default apps, I'm sure he would like an answer to the question too. So, here is my question: Has anyone developed an app that would allow us to remove the default apps, or a tool that will guide us in removing some default apps?
And preferably the app or tool be in the most legal possible way. Wouldn't want to ask for something that is illegal.

i have developed a application and package to jar file, and the application is connected to mysql database. If i want to execute the applicaion, i first install the jre, and then install the mysql database, is so trouble for client. There is a very nice sourceforge project called 'NSIS' which is a very elegent cross platform instalation scripting utility.
I first used NSIS to autodetect the version of Java, automaticaly install it if required, install mysql & mysqlcc automaticaly, install my java application (quite a few diff jars and dll's) and setup some services (i also use the sourceforge wrapper project).
I ended up removing all the autoinstalls because of problems with java and mysql. Some installs start up a seperate app, which caused sequencing issues when i installed the schema for MySQL.
Now I have a web page with a step by step guide to installing our app. The first page attempts to run a java applet that checks the version. It then provides info on whether to install the jre. The next step is for mysql and the final for the NSIS installation program.
Each step has a url to the program, and is structured for being burnt onto a cd-rom. The NSIS install generated program connects to MySQL and loads a sql file to generate the schema. Also it installs shortcuts for all users, uninstall exe to remove it all and so forth.
I have also created a upgrade script for NSIS which automaticaly shuts down the services running and does the install.
All in all, I cannot recommend NSIS enough. Btw it comes with some samples that show how to detect Java. Not complete in itself but will give you a starting point.
