Can you import into Aperture from the IPhoto library on Time Machine?
Having size problems with huge IPhoto library. Would like to install Aperture and import from iPhoto library backup on Time Machine HD but would like to know before I purchase Aperature.
No replies so I purchased Aperture and attempted to import from Aperture. Could not do it. Very disappointing.

... That is knowing that I have already imported all my iPhoto library but I selected the option "in their current location" from the "store files" pop-up menu.
So right now, all my pictures are referenced images in Aperture but stored in their current locations on the iPhoto folder.

Essentially though what you are wanting to do with your referenced master files is to
File/Consolidate Master/
Definitely worth having a read of the pro's and cons of managed vs referenced files.

IF I import to Aperture from my iPhoto library...
from "current location" and later want to change it to Aperture only and not have an iphoto library, is this possible, or do i have to start over somehow? I don't know if this makes sense, but think it would simplify and save internal HD space to not add the 11GB it would take for a referenced library.

You can always change from referenced to managed and back again. Aperture is very flexible in this regards. Whats important is that you do the changes from within Aperture itself and not try moving things about in the finder.
To go from referenced to managed use *File->Consolidate Masters*. You'll be given a choice to move or copy the masters into Apertures library.
To reverse it, managed to reference use *File->Relocate Master*, In fact even if you currently have referenced masters and what to move the files from say one external HD to another use *Relocate Masters* to do it. This will save you the pain of having to reconnect your masters after the move.

If you want mutiple addresses make a Group of those in Address Book and drag the Group icon onto the Pages template.

Can someone tell me how to import a photo from my iPhoto library into Photo Shop Elements 11. When I am in Photo Shop Elements and I go to import the only option is to import from a camera. I want to import a photo from iPhoto. If I can't figure this out Photo Shop Elements is totally useless to me.
Not sure what you are trying to do
If you want to use PSE as an editor for iPhoto then set it in the iPhoto preferences (you need to search the forums for the exact settings - they are not obvious)
The general answer to yoru question is to import a photo form iPhoto to any other program is to select the photo in iPhoto and export to the desktop and import from there

I want to automatically extract my iphone-videos from the iPhoto library since I have way over 25 000 objects in there. Afterwards I would like to import them into iMovie. Anyone having an idea? Or is there no possibility to do so?

How can i import into imovie using the camera's built in memory?
How can I import into imovie from my cannon video camera built in memory. All that comes up when I connect the USB cable is what is stored on the memory card and it doesn't give me the option to use what is stored on the built in memory
That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
With the new Photo app later this year the integration between IOS and the Mac will be much greater

How do I get photos from the iPhoto import folder to the iPhoto library? It uploaded, but hung while deleting from my camera, so no imported photos are in the iPhoto library. I watched it upload about 400 photos, one by one. They're somewhere, but they don't appear in the iPhoto library. As iPhoto was deleting them from my camera, it got hung up, then a message came "you should eject before disconnecting a device." I hadn't touched the camera. The message came by itself. I couldn't get iPhoto to respond, so I disconnected the camera and did a Force Quit. Opening it back up, the pictures were gone. Can somebody help me?
What version of iPhoto are you running? Assuming it's iPhoto 9 or later Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

and look in the folder named Auto Import. Move any files in that folder to a folder on the Desktop and close the package. Do not make any other changes. Launch iPhoto (the message should be gone) and drag the folder on the Dersktop into the open iPhoto window to import them.

Message title says it: Can you copy/paste files from the Finder to Mail in Lion, or drag them onto the Mail icon in the Dock to create a new message and attach the files to it?
I can't find anything in the Knowledge Base that says these two options no longer work or still do.
I do not have a system capable of running Lion, but I need to know the answer nonetheless.Gee, I don't know: "paste attachments mail Lion"? ;-)
One further question, if I may: in Panther (which is where I've aggregated nearly 7 years of mail), if you copy more than one file in the Finder, switch to Mail, and paste the files into a new message, only the file names paste in. If you copy one file and paste it into a Mail message, you get the file, not just the name. Is that still true, or has that (IMHO) bug been fixed since 10.3.9? -

Can you import video directly from a video camera to the iPad 2 ? If so, what is needed?
I would say no. I have an Ipad2 with the connection kit. A recent Sony camera which works fine in imovie for my 27" imac, but nothing with the Ipad. Only thing that it finds are pictures that can be made with the same video camera. Apple wrote a note aboit probkmes with importing, but i'm very disappointed with what i have right now.

Time Machine is a back up you have to set up to back up before there is a problem like a hard drive failure.
It is possible to recover files from a failed drive, but it is an expensive proposition.
There is a faint hope that an app like Disk Warrior or TechTool Pro might repair the drive. You could try making an appointment at an Apple store and ask a technician there to take a look... the diagnosis will not cost you.

We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube? The Moodle upload interface is expecting a file selection dialog box like windows or OSX. I do not want to have to go through an intermediary step of messing with a pc.
Thanks!It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch
