Can you merge two apple ids

I have two Apple id's. Not sure why. but one is for my iPod that was set up a long time ago and what I use for iTunes. The is for my iPhone. I want to use the itunes cloud storage so i can listen to my music on my iPhone but i'm guessing that won't work if you have two id's. Of couse they'd need to match. Can you merge two id's? I would like to simplify anyway and just have one.
Thanks.

No.

  • HT204053 Can you merge two Apple IDs into one?  It was a common issue caused by the iPhone 4 and has been corrected, but transferring purchases in iTunes is a pain with two IDs.

For a brief time when iPhone 4, iOS 4 came out, many of us ended up with two Apple IDs.  I want to know if anyone can please provide me with simple step-by-step instructions on merging two Apple IDs into one?  It would make transferring purchases on iTunes much easier and reliable.  I realize i desperately need an iOS update, but i had no laptop for over two years!  I'm posting a cry for help on that in another community.  Thank you all.

    No,
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • Can you have two Apple IDs on one IPAD? One for school and one for home?

Can you have two Apple IDs on one IPAD? One for school and one for home?
If so do you know how to do it?

It depends on what you want to do.
You could, for example, have one AppleID for iCloud backup [and therefore message syncing, notes syncing, etc] and a second one for iTunes [music, iBooks, etc].
But if you are looking for a way to flip everything between different appleIDs, then no.

  • Can you have two apple ids on one mac?

Can you have two apple ids on one mac? We each have iPhones and want to utilize iCloud.  Is this possible?

No, in this case the 2 user accounts with its own Apple IDs would be completely seperated.
If you want to share this things like music and app purchases you will have to to something else.
    1. Create two user accounts on your Mac (user A and user B).
    2. Create two iCloud accounts just for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Photos, etc. (one for user A and one for user B):
On your Mac (with Mac OS X Lion or Mountan Lion):
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud > Create an Apple ID (button in left corner)
On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch (iOS 5 or later):
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > iCloud > Get a free @me.com address and create a new Apple ID
    3. It is not recommended because you shouldn't share your Apple ID account information with other people but you could set up your old Apple ID as an account just for store purchases (Apps, Music, ...) so that everyone of you can manage the purchases in their own library (Access is limited to 10 devices). Therefore you have to setup this "old" ID in Settings of your iOS devices (Settings > iTunes & App Store) and in iTunes on your Mac.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Apple will not merge two Apple IDs, nor will Apple transfer content from one ID to another.

  • Can't merge two apple IDs and can't download purchases from both onto the same iMac

Some time ago I discovered that I had inadvertently created two apple IDs. One that I had used many years ago as a student and then the other I created when I bought my first iPhone. These days I only use the newer account I created however I still own a few songs which were purchased on the older account back when I was a student. SO recently I logged into the older account to get those old songs that I'd purchased and download them onto my work iMac - GREAT! ...Right up until I wanted to now download some newer songs I'd recently purchased directly onto my iPhone using the new account - UH-OH! NOPE! I'm not allowed to download those songs for 90 days! Are you frickin kidding me?! They're both MY accounts! They're both linked to me - use the same details, same address, same credit card, same everything else!!! But apple won't let me download songs that I now own for 3 months onto my iMac because I happen to have two accounts. This is insanely ridiculous! I would happilly merge the two accounts if it was possible but of course there is no way to do this either. I understand that the intention is to stop people from sharing songs by linking to a friends apple ID and downloading their songs, however I am in no way trying to do this. I just want to have access to all the songs that I own on all my machines. I want to listen to songs that I have legitimately purchased on my work machine as well as on my iPhone, my iPad and my home iMac. Surely this is not too much to ask? C'mon apple!! Can't you find a way to either link/merge my two accounts or to verify that they both belong to the same person so I don't run into this problem? I don't think I should have to wait 3 months to get access to songs I have purchased!

    1. Click here and ask the iTunes Store staff for assistance.
    2. Use the Transfer Purchases function to import them from the iOS devices, and manually move the iTunes libraries between the computers.

Problem: My email account was hacked so I had to get a new email and so I thought I need to create a new apple id... so now I have two apple ids; is there any way that I can merge the two or transfer the purchases from one to the other?

You can't do this on your own; if one Apple ID is completely inaccessible, click here and request assistance.

  • HT5625 How do you merge two Apple IDs into one account?

I have two Apple IDs (it's a long story) with mixed content.  I'd like to merge the accounts into one account, in order to synchronize my apple products.  How do I do it?

    1. Click here and ask the iTunes Store staff if they'll do it. They probably won't.
    2. Because Apple generally doesn't permit that.
    3. Because the content remains associated with your Apple ID when you share it with other people.

  • Can you merge 2 apple IDs

I bought some apps on an old ID, no longer in use. But now, I need to update apps, but I pad won't acknowledge my new apple ID, or let me use the old one... Any help???  Can I merge the IDs ??

It's not currently possible to merge ids, nor to copy/transfer content from one account to another - content will remain tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded it, so only the old account will be able to download updates to its apps. What problem are you having with the old account ?

  • HT1918 How can I merge two Apple IDs?

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?

  • Can you combine two Apple IDs?

I have iPad2, iPhone4, iPhone3S, MacBook Air 2011 and a Macbook Pro 2010...all running on Lion OS and iOS 5.  My Issue is I have two apple accounts, one on gmail and the other on mobile me.  I have lots of music from both and want to combine them so my family can just use one account instead of having them both seperate.  We don't use the gmail email anymore, and would like to combine them both to the mobile me apple ID if possible?  Please help!

Yes, you can change the Apple ID to which your phone is tied. Delete your existing iCloud address and provide the new one. Do the same for your email.

  • HT204053 Can you merge multiple Apple IDs?

I have somehow collected 3 IDs over the years and want to merge them so I don't keep having to log out and resign in every time I need to update my apps on my iPhone and iPad.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

  • Can you have two apple IDs on an ipad to join two clouds?

My son has his own apple ID setup up on his iPad3 with iCloud. Can he login to my iCloud to share my data from my MBP using my apple ID without deleting his own apple ID and iCloud setup? Under iCloud, the only option is "delete" account and we don't want to lose his settings or iCloud files.

for iCloud synchronization you can only connect to one account at any one time.
    That's not true. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4020
You can have a secondary iCloud account setup on iOS5 devices for Mail, Notes, Contacts, Calendars, and Reminders.
iCloud really isn't intended for sharing data among users
It is if you want to share Calendars and Reminders. See: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a8694
