Can you play a movie from the cloud without downloading?

I previsouly was able to stream movies and tv shows from the cloud without downloading.  Is this still possible with the new IOS?

You should be able to. I don't have any IOs devises with me at the moment, but try this.
From your IOS device go to iTunes/Purchased. Look for shows that are not downloaded and you should be able to stream them.

  • How do stream my movies from the cloud without downloading to my ipad mini?

i would like to buy a load of movies and build up a big movie library to watch movies on my ipad mini.  unfortunately my ipad mini is only 16gb and will not be able to store all the movies i want to buy as this will run into hundreds of pounds for the movies i want.  how do i keep the movies i buy in the cloud so when i browse my movies in my library from my ipad mini they just stream and watch without downloading?  thank you

You can buy and store in the cloud, but to watch on your iPad you must download.

  • Since I put my music on the cloud, I cannot access it without downloading each song individually. I thought I was going to be able to stream from the cloud without downloading.

Since I put my music on the cloud, I cannot access it without downloading each song individually. I thought I was going to be able to stream from the cloud without downloading. Each download takes over a minute and I have 2000 songs! How can I just listen to my music again without downloading each and every song??? BTW, I purchased the iPhone 5S hoping that this issue would be solved with more memory - it's not. At this point I just want to remove the whole cloud-thing from my phone and go back to only having the songs on one device, no download required except the original iTunes purchase. How do I do this???

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It sounds as though you misunderstood the purpose of iTunes Match. You still need to have the content on the device to play it.
However it's effectively no different than before in that you keep your most played content on your phone but are able to download stuff you rarely play should you ever wish to.
There's no value whatsoever in iTunes Match unless your library doesn't fit on your phone.

  • Can I load songs onto my ipod nano (7G) from the cloud without downloading it to my PC?

I just bought a 7G nano.  All of my songs are in the cloud.  My computer has little space for my large collection of music, podcasts, and videos.  I just bought a couple of albums and they went directly to my ipod when I synced.  The rest of my library, however, was left in the cloud and didn't make it to my ipod.  The only way I can tell to transfer my music from the cloud to my ipod is to download it from the cloud to my PC.  Is there a way to bypass my PC and go directly to my ipod?

You will need that library copied from the old computer. If not, then you can take a look at this in getting 3rd party software to recover your library from the iPod. Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • Can you play home movies from imovie on atv?

Can you use imovie to play home movies through atv?  If so, how is it done?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
From the iMovie share menu. choose share to iTunes. Choose an appropriate size for your content (no point choosing an HD size if your content isn't). If you have an Apple TV 1, limit your choice to those options that are designated for the Apple TV, if you have an Apple TV 2, you can select the extra options designated for the iPad.

  • How do I listen to a song from the cloud without downloading it to phone?

When I hit play it downloads to my Iphone. I don't want to store locally only on cloud?

iCloud doesn't work that way. The "streaming" isn't streaming; the media is downloaded to your device and you can begin listening before the download is complete. You can always delete the songs from your device after you've finished listening; doing so will delete them from your local device only, not from iCloud or iTunes Match.

  • Can i watch TV shows in the cloud without downloading to my PC

I just bought a new PC and it doesn't have a lot of memory on it ...  Is there a way I can watch my Itunes Library without downloading it?   You can do this on Amazon, but I have a ton of TV shows in my library on itunes .. and I don't want to lose them.

I don't see an option to download to an external hard drive.
No such option exists, all media downloads to the iTunes Media Folder location as defined in Edit > Preferences > Advanced.
Moving iTunes Media folder  This will move the ENTIRE iTunes media folder to the external drive.  Keep in mind that going forward the external drive must be connected prior to launching iTunes or iTunes will revert to the default location and/or give an error upon launch.

Apple doesn't own the copyrights to any of the entertainment content they sell. They are just the retailer. If the copyright owner decides they no longer what their product available on the iTunes Store then it will no longer be available. There's not a lot Apple can do about that. What it also says, at the bottom of the page in the fine print is:
Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer in the iTunes Store... So backup your purchases. I backup all my purchases to local storage and do not depend on a third party to keep my data safe. It is your responsiblity.

    Hello Addymay2,
I would recommend signing out of your Apple ID in Settings -> iTunes and App Stores. After this, close all open apps and restart your device. Once your iPad is powered back up, sign back into your Apple ID in Settings -> iTunes and App Stores.
iOS: Sign in with a different Apple ID in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store

iOS: Force an app to close

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

How do I download a purchased movie from the cloud to my iPad I?

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • Can't play rented movies.  They appear to download OK and the timer accurately reports days remaining to watch.  But whenever I try to play the movie I get this message, "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later."

Can't play rented movies.  They appear to download OK and the timer accurately reports days remaining to watch.  But whenever I try to play the movie I get this message, "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later.". Have been using the Apple TV for 2 weeks and everything else seems to work OK.  The Apple TV reports its SW is up to date.  I've tried this with two movies rented frim iTunes directly from the Apple TV.

If after you download the movie, you navigate away and do something else with your Apple TV the content you have downloaded will be overwritten and you'll need to download it again. It's a pain in the neck for many who have slow downloads but it's something that comes with using volatile memory rather than a hard drive for storage.
Perhaps you're not doing this, but I thought it worth mentioning.

  • When I play a song from the cloud on my iPad, is the song actually saved to the device or is it streaming it from the cloud?  If saved, how do I clear the songs to not exceed the storage on my iPad since the iTunes library is way bigger?

When I play a song from the cloud in iTunes Match on my iPad, iis the track actually downloaded to the iPad, or is it streaming?  If downloading, wouldn't the tracks eventually exceed my storage capacity on the iPad since my iTunes library is way bigger?  Do i need to delets songs off the iPad eventually?

It is downloaded, and yes it takes up space and can eventually fill up your iPad.  It's supposed to delete older tracks as the music app plays new ones and space gets low, but other apps won't delete songs and free up the space. So if you were going to say use the camera app and it was full of music you would have to delete songs manually.

  • I recently brought a new HP laptop and I downloaded the newly updated iTunes on it; however I have an old Aver laptop with iTunes version 10.7 on it or the one before iTunes 11 came out. How can I transfer my movies from the old version to the new one?

I recently brought a new HP laptop and downloaded iTunes 11 on it. My old laptop which is a Acer has iTunes version 10.7, I believe. I wanted to know, How can I transfer 18 movies from the old iTunes onto my new Itunes? It only shows the most recent two movies when I look at the purchases in my account. I had a lot of moves downloaded last year from the old version and would like some assistance on how to get all those movies into my iTunes 11 library. Thank you.

you should starting with copying the iTunes folder from your old laptop to the new one.
the iTunes folder is in your user profile Music folder.
it should go to the same location on the new laptop.
Provided that you have your media, music and movies in the default location, and you sign in to your apple ID and authorize your new computer (all in iTunes)
    you should have all intact.
    Post if any problems.
