Can you successfully "snapshot" a DB whilst using the quiesce ?

Anyone used hardware snapshots combined with quiesecing the DB successfully ? If not does anyone know if its possible ?
We are using IBM XIV disks and looking into the feasibility of quiesecing the DB ("alter system quiesce restricted") and then hardware snapshot to create a working copy of the DB in the fraction of the time compared to rman.
My worry is that the datafile headers are still open, so would we need to put datafiles in backup mode and then snapshot?
Data Guard is my preference but this is a cost saving exercise, plus potential speedy option.

This is also something I've wondered as well.
We are also looking to purchase the XIV NAS head appliance, so this is an important consideration for us as well.
I'm told that it is possible, but the source was IBM technical sales.
I'd be interested to know first hand from DBAs using it how well it works and if they have ever restored from this type of copy. I understand how it works and was sold on it by HP as well as a part of their advanced journaling function.
We've also had IBM-Tivoli present their Advanced Copy Services to flash copy to TSM. Supposedly it can take a flash copy of a database that is several terabytes in size in a matter of seconds or minutes and then back it up to tape without impacting the database server. It sounds great!

That app simply allow you to find other devices using your ipod. It has nothing to do with fining the device on which it is installed.
If you set up the find my ipod feature that is built into your ipod and the ipod is on and it is connected to wi-fi and it has not been restored, then you may be able to get an approximate street address using icloud.
Othrewise, it cannot be tracked.

If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
You can figure out using it with another machine from that too

Can you install Lion server but still use the mac as normal?

I have a Macbook Pro and I would like to install Lion server. I was wondering if when I buy it off the mac app store if it works like any application so I can like close out of the server and use the mac as normal like to get on the Internet, or if Lion server installs like a new operation system and I can't use my mac as normal?

Of course. On Mountain Lion and Lion, Server is just an app, so you can close it and turn off its services whenever you want to use your Mac as usual, although you don't have to close Server app to use the computer as normal

If you are printing from an iPhone the printer most likely already AirPrint capable. So it should work directly.
Alternatively, if you are using an App on your iPhone to print to it. You should be able to use the same App on your iPad.

yep.. thats my current version of firmware.. yeah, the first time i charged with a USB.. it didnt charge because i forgot to slide it to lock mode... when i tried sliding it to lock mode, it was charging.. but this happened when i charged the battery was not yet drained..
So, the other day i forgot to charge it, i just noticed it was drained already.. so i decided to charge it via USB of my pc.. i slide it to lock mode, but nothing happened.. it wasnt charging... thats why i had this question that if your player is drained already, you cannot charge it via USB.. it should be via the power outlet... can this be true?

Yes, but only in a 4G area. Both the 4G and the CDMA radio are used, each for a different function; CDMA for voice, 4G for data.

You'll have to have an ID you all share in order to have a shared iCloud account. It would be sensible for each person to have their own ID and their own iCloud account for email and their own data (each would be on their own computer/iOS device or user account on a Mac) and then have a common account which everyone would sign into in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts and Calendars to access shared data.
You don't want to be all using the email in a common account - if people are using email aliases remember these can't be detached from the account and transferred to another one. Having all your emails mixed up together can be somewhat impracticable.

In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.

Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached. Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print.

hmm, that's a trick one! what I would do is go to Messages>preferences>accounts and then select imessages and then select account details and then sign out. Then your wife will need to sign in with her apple id.

simply adding both of your accounts to be reached at will prove to be faulty because when you reply you can only reply with the one email address. And even if you switch caller id's it probably still won't work. So I think my method would be the easiest way to do that at this time.
