Cancelling a dashboard report to execute still executes the query behind

All,
We have some reports thats takes time to execute like 3-4 minutes. My problem is if I cancel any report to execute, it still executes the query. I can see the query thru sessions under nqsserver.exe as ACTIVE.
Because of this user are thinking that they cancel the reports and move on to new one but oracle is still spending time to execute that query.
Thanks

Hello.
I have exactely the same need, can you please let us know how you solved your problem?
Thanks

  • Report Designer - Issue in inserting the query

    Hi
I'm facing problem when inserting the query in the Report Designer. Following is the steps I take to create new report in report designer.
    1. Developed the query in Bex Analyzer.
    2. Click on new in Report Desginer.
    3. Click on 'Insert Data Provider'.
    4. And at this point it self system throw a message saying that "Do you really want to delete this section? Query will be removed if it is not used in any other section.'
Has anybody come across thos type of issue.
Please advice if I'm going wrong any where.

    Hi,
You mean you have created query in query designer right....
because a query/workbook.query view created bt Bex abalyzer can't be a data taregt for report designer

  • I got a Photoshop free trial then upgraded to pay monthly, I now want to cancel my subscription but it doesn't give me the option to cancel as it says I'm still on the free trial even though I am paying monthly

I want to subscribe to Photoshop monthly payments.

You would got to your adobe.com account and under subscriptions there should be an option to cancel. Be aware that after the first month paying for it, you will need to pay 50% of what remains for breaking the one year contract.

  • Cannot cancel yearly plan although I´m still in the 30 day period ?

Every time I try to cancel my plan I´m sent automatically  to Adobe Support. I have the option of phoning or taking part in an online chat, but only until 17:00 hours. I don´t get back from work until 17:30  though and therefore don´t have time. I thought that I could cancel my plan within my Adobe account, but it won´t allow me to ??

The crash report does two things.
    1) tells you Firefox crashed
    2) files a crash report with the '''Mozilla.org''' system so that
someone can look over the report to find a reason and cure.

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
#Enter ''about:crashes'' in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
#Copy the '''5''' most recent Report IDs that start with '''bp-''' and then go back to your forum question and paste that into the "Post a Reply" box. • Interactive Report with union all in the query

I have an interactive report with the following query in the report region:
    select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-1000000000,account,sdesc,uref,
    suserdefined1,trans_notes,samount,detail_notes
    from journal_entries
    union all
    select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-700000000,account,sdesc,uref,
    suserdefined1,trans_notes,stotalamount,detail_notes
    from charge_entries;
This gets translated as listed below during runtime. I am trying to pass a value to both SELECT statements instead of the just the bottom select statement. Is this possible using interactive reports.
    select
    PROPERTY,
    SADDR1,
    UPOSTDATE,
    SOTHERDATE1,
    ACCOUNT,
    SDESC,
    UREF,
    SUSERDEFINED1,
    TRANS_NOTES,
    SAMOUNT,
    DETAIL_NOTES,
    "JOURNAL_CONTROL-1000000000" "JOURNAL_CONTROL-1000000000"
    from (
    select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-1000000000,account,sdesc,uref,
    suserdefined1,trans_notes,samount,detail_notes
    from journal_entries
    union all
    select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-700000000,account,sdesc,uref,
    suserdefined1,trans_notes,stotalamount,detail_notes
    from charge_entries
    ) r
    where ("PROPERTY" = :APXWS_EXPR_1)
    0.14: IR binding: ":APXWS_EXPR_1"="APXWS_EXPR_1" value="prop1"
    Thanks for any help,
    Jim

The bottom query is actually the third query, it encompasses the two that are unioned. It is generated by APEX to allow for the search facility - to achieve what you want ignore the larger query, and get your query working in something like SQL developer. Once it's working then put it into APEX, and the search wrapper will be generated.
    select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-1000000000,account,sdesc,uref,
    suserdefined1,trans_notes,samount,detail_notes
    from journal_entries
    where property = :YOUR_CRITERIA
    union all
    select property,saddr1,upostdate,sotherdate1,journal_control-700000000,account,sdesc,uref,
    suserdefined1,trans_notes,stotalamount,detail_notes
    from charge_entries
    where property = :YOUR_CRITERIA;
Then you need to think about how you are using the report, if it is linked to from another report, then create a hidden variable and pass it from the parent.
If the report is standalone , then you could create an item , that can be edited and when submitted, re-executes the report based on the criteria entered.

  • BI Auth - user still can search & execute for not authorized query

    Hello All,
    need your help here.
    For BI security,
I've configured menu role (for example ZBEX_FIN) in order for the end users to see only specific queries/workbook inside the menu folder that assigned to him/her.
And I've made a function role for end user, copy from the template S_RS_RREPU with the modification:
    1. I delete 0BI_ALL
    2. add S_USER_AGR and put my menu role above (ZBEX_FIN) for field ACT_GROUP
    3. add S_RS_FOLD to disable the infoarea button in BEx.
currently the user can see and execute report assigned in the role menu folder, this is correct.
But the problem is there's a find button in the BEx, when the user try to search other query (non authorized query, the one that supposed he can't see), he still can display the query, then can execute the query. This is not acceptable.
Anyone can suggest whether I can disable the find button in the BEx
or any other restriction in the role that I missed, so the user can only execute and display the query/workbook under the role menu only.
    Thanks in advance.

So it means that we need to do it twice restrictring the query in the role menu and then inside the S_RS_COMP ?
so later when the user wants to add more queries in his role, we need to add those in the role menu as well inside the S_RS_COMP. is this correct ?
When you add queries/workbook to role menu, you are not restricting the access. Its just that user menu would list those queries/workbooks. Users can search for other queries and workbook and run them with proper authorizations in S_RS_COMP. You may consider maintaining query naming convention with wild cards for example YRZ* etc to give access to all queries/workbooks starting with YRZ. This would save your effort to update role too freqeuntly.
And if I have a workbook, how I put it inside the S_RS_COMP ? because the component of S_RS_COMP is query only.
S_RS_COMP can restrict queries as well as workbooks with field RSZCOMPTP= REP

  • How to avoid the message in the dashboard report

    Hi,
I am developing Dashboard reports(graphs) using WAD. Query and WAD are working fine. I need to put a variable for Calendar Month or Year in the graph .I am populating the Variable with default value initially and I am getting the correct result . But if I change the Variable value second time, I am getting a message (type I(information) ) in the same screen which says that 'You cannot change variable ZCALYEAR_WT01 for charact. 0CALYEAR during query navigation' . And below is the detailed information about the error message.
The Can be changed in query navigation property has been set for variable ZCALYEAR_WT01, characteristic 0CALYEAR. However, the variable is used in the query in such a way, that the system is unable to apply this change-option.
This can, for example, occur under the following conditions:
Characteristic 0CALYEAR is filtered by additional restrictions (the restrictions must be joined using an OR-connection)
A second characteristic, which is restricted by a variable, is compounded to charcteristic 0CALYEAR.
Variable ZCALYEAR_WT01 is a hierarchy node variable, but the hierarchy has not been determined uniquely.
A variable can be changed during query navigation only if it is used exclusively in a drilldown-characteristic, and there are no further restrictions to the characteristic other than this variable. There must be no additional characteristics with variables compounded to the characteristic you are working with. For variables for hierarchy nodes, the hierarchy must be determined uniquely and agree with the set display hierarchy.
Also, if the characteristic value is moved, for example (ZCALYEAR_WT01 - 1), the variable is no longer able to be changed when navigating queries.
    System Response
The entry ZCALYEAR_WT01 Can be changed during query navigation is not applied.
    Procedure
I checked the query definition and it is not having any offset or any other restrictions for Calendar Year
It is used for finding the total quantity by country for the year  .Hence Quantity keyfigure is added in the Keyfigures and Country is in the Rows and Calendar Year is restricted with Variable in the global filter .There are no other fields and no other restrictions .
I am still trying to figure out why the warning apprears in the DashBoard. Since this Dashboard report will be used by the Power users and this warning message will be annoying to them .Hence I need to find how to avoid this message.
Kindly do let me if anyone has faced this and solved earlier.
    Thanks for your time.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raja

    Hi Nick,
Thanks for your suggestion and it  worked for me   I  added the 'System message' web item and set the visibility to 'Hidden'  .Now I am not getting any message. Thank you for both.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Reports are not updated on the dashboard

    Hello guys
I have created some reports and dashboards in OBIEE. Everything looks good. The only problem is that they are not updated with new data as the days go by.
In other words, the next day and the day after when users log in to view the same report, they are still seeing the same old data where it should be updated already when new data were already loaded into the db. When clicking on refresh botton, it still didn't update..
I believe there must be some caching issues that causes it, but cache is needed as a part of performance tuning. So how would I be able to update the record and not slowing the performance for reports that are updating daily?
    Please help

    Hi,
This certainly sounds like a caching issue, you need to decide on a method for purging the cache of stale entries. My personal favourite is a custom informatica WF added as a following task to the DAC execution plan. This WF calls as OBDC function against the Analytics ODBC which purges the cache, ensuring that there are no stale entries after the ETL has finished.
For more info on caching please see my blog entry here:

  • Find the report from the query

Hi, We noticed one of the bad queries creating blocks in SQL Server and that is coming from our report server. I captured the query, Now I m trying to find what report that query belongs to ? Is there any way to find this from Report server database ? may
be something like querying the catalog table? Please advise
    Thank you

    Hi,
I Think that method can respond to your request.
If you execute this query on the report server Database and change the where clause with one of your parameters.
    SELECT Name
    FROM
    SELECT
    Name,
    Path,
    CAST(CAST(content AS VARBINARY(MAX)) AS VARCHAR(MAX)) AS reportXML
    FROM Catalog
    WHERE
    content IS NOT NULL AND
    type = 2
    ) t
    WHERE t.reportXML LIKE '%XXXXXXXXXXXXX_CHANGE_THIS_XXXXXXXXXXXXX%'
Please, can you tell me if that respond to your need?

  • First time an SQL expression is placed on report a DB SELECT executes

The same problem can be created using the normal Crystal Reports XI Release 2 developer environment and/or code (not only a code issue). I'm using CR XI.
    Symptom:
We dynamically auto generate SQL Expressions, Tables, Joins, Formula's and anything through C# and place it onto the Crystal Report through code via run-time user input in a web environment. I recieved a notification from one of my DB admins that crystal reports is causing massive memory consumption via unknown SELECT statements that have no joins and/or WHERE criteria.
    Some Detective Work/More Info:
After using Microsoft "SQL Profiler" along with Crystal, I understand what is happening but don't know the "work around" to make Crystal stop executing the following SELECT scenario.
Anytime I create a new "SQL Expression" for the first time and then physically "drag and drop" it onto the report then Crystal is executing a "silent" SELECT statement against the database in the design environment. I'm calling it "silent" because I need MS SQL Profiler to see it happen. I'm guessing that this is used for validation or something but this is causing problems when automatically generating a report in a production environment.
    Steps to re-create:
    1. Open MS "SQL Profiler" and get it running. (will show Crystal Engine silently executes the SELECTS)
    2. Add a new "SQL Expression" to your report.
    3. Drag and Drop your new "SQL Expression onto your report
    4. You will see that Crystal has created an SQL query and executed it against your database in design environment.
    The Problem:
I can see under normal circumstances why you might want this funtionality (if it's actually used for the Crystal Engine to validate your SQL Expression). But, What also makes this functionality horrible is that on my behalf Crystal is creating these SELECT statements and using cross joins which is a major problem in a production environment. As a result, huge record sets are being created on our DB Server. I don't believe that this has any purpose in a production evironment when the cross-joins can create huge amounts of results just for the sake of Crystal Internally validating a new SQL Expression placed onto a report. It would be nice to disable this functionality in production. I don't know a "work around" since these SELECT queries are created on my behalf by the Crystal Engine at design time (via code auto generation in production).
    Questions:
Can this functionality be disabled to prevent a production server from incurring the execution of these queries?
Anybody else notice this and have a "work around"?

This is a cross post of:
1st time an SQL expression is placed on report a DB SELECT executes
Please do not cross post. See the [Rules of Engagement|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/rulesofEngagement].
The above post has been moved to the Crystal Reports Design forum, thus locking this thread.

  • First time an SQL expression is placed on report a DB SELECT executes -CRXI

The same problem can be created using the normal Crystal Reports XI Release 2 developer environment and/or code (not only a code issue).
