Cannot Authorize Account

I somehow have two iTunes accounts. I am having a problem authorizing my computer to play over 100 songs that I have purchased from the iTunes store. iTunes is only allowing me to login with my Apple ID, not my AOL account ID. The problem is that the majority of the songs were purchased with my AOL account ID.
When I attempt to login with my AOL account, this is the message I receive: "An Apple account for (my email address) has already been created. Please sign in using your Apple ID and password."
But when I login with my Apple ID, it will not let me play those songs. Really frustrating. Any help is appreciated.

After MUCH effort, finally found a SIMPLE workaround to play the .aa file, that does not require that I change permissions on System Files et. al.
I simply:
1. gave my every day account Administrator Privileges (done in Menu Bar > Apple Menus > System Preferences > System > Accounts, by checking a box; to do so one must have access to another account with Admin privileges; if one does not have such access, one must call upon someone who does have such access),
2. rebooted,
3. double clicked the .aa file, playing the file with iTunes, and authorized the Audible.com account (this only worked when I typed in each letter of the long password, not when I pasted the password into the request space), [also as the process seemed to contact the iTunes store, it may be necessary to have network access at the time one does the authorization]
4. removed the Admin Privileges from my every day account (System Preferences > System > Accounts)
5. rebooted
6. again played the .aa file with iTunes ('The Willpower Instinct' now appears in iTunes > Books)

So, I bought a new Macbook Pro which i cannot authorize my itunes for. I don't even have the button indicated in the support section to authorize or deauthorize. I only have one device authorized to my account. I cant remember my security questions and cannot figure out how to change them; I think this might be the reason why i can't authorize my new device. The only way to access my itunes from my Mac is to have my iphone plugged in. Someone please help! I am a complete tard and would like to avoid a trip to the actual Apple store.

Call Apple Care for your country and request that they assist you in resetting the security questions.
To authorize/deauthorize a computer, go to the Store dropdown menu in the iTunes app.

If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
(Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)
Then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time..

  • Cannot authorize my new macbook pro on iTunes.  I de-authorized my previous computers.  What is going on?

I cannot authorize my new macbook pro on itunes.  I de-authorized all my previous accounts.  I tried following the directions given for authorizing a computer, but I do not see this option when I open itunes.  Any help is much appreciated.

Move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • You Cannot Authorize More than 5 Computers...

    Hello,
I have a new Dell laptop running Vista. I waited until a new version of iTunes came out and downloaded 7.1 this morning. I backed up all my songs which has been successful and it looks like the album cover art is there too.
I continue to get this message which says:
You cannot authorize more than 5 computers...
You have already authorized 5 computers with this account. to authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers.
I read the KB article and quite frankly am totally confused. My old laptop has been reformatted and given to a friend. iTunes was not installed on it.
How do I get rid of this annoying message? Should I attempt to synch up my Nano or wait first until I get help with this message. Sorry the KB about deauthorizing and authorizing is very confusing to me.
All I'm doing is trying to get my iTunes installed on a new laptop restored with all my old songs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    See this article.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93014
    Specifically this part:
" If you find you have reached 5 authorizations due to system upgrades, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen. Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers or if you have used this option within the last 12 months."
This is what you may need to do.

  • "You cannot authorize more than five computers"

I am unable to play any of my music that I have bought from iTunes music store because when I try to play my music on my new computer it says "You cannot authorize more than five computers". In fact, I only have four computers using my iTunes music account. Any suggestions?

hmmmm. perhaps check to see if you've ended up with multiple authorisations on one of those computers:
One computer using multiple iTunes Music Store authorizations

    Hi Tracydoola,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  Based on the fact that you have tried a reinstallation of iTunes, it sounds like there may be a firewall or other security software preventing iTunes from communicating with its servers.  This article has steps you can try to resolve or isolate the issue:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

  • When I try to authorize my computer I receive a message saying you cannot authorize 5 computers at once. I only have one computer

I have made several purchases from the Apple Store, But when I tried to access them I receive a message that says 'Your computer is not authorized to play this track/album'. So I try to authorize and another message says 'You cannot authorize 5 computers at once.' What does this mean? I only have this one computer.

At some point other computers were autorized on your account.
Open iTunes and go to the iTunes store > Accounrs (in Quick Links section on the right) > sign in > From the you can use the Deauthorize All option. Apple limits use of this to once a year. After all are deauthorized you will be able to authorize your computer.

  • I cannot authorize a new computer.

I cannot authorize a new computer, yet my account says I only have 4 computers authorized. Therefore, I should be able to add the 5th. I am afraid to deauthorize all and lose the ability to use any computer. What do I do to authorize this new computer?

    Anne
If you were to Deauthorize All you can simply reauthorize the other computrers as you use them. This is a good idea especially if you aren't sure which 4 computers they are.
Note that Apple limits the Deauthorize All option to once a year.

  • TS1389 I have deauthorized 3 of the 5 computers and it still says I cannot authorize this computer?

I have gone through the steps listed to deauthorize 3 devices. My account now only shows the 2. Now i cannot authorize this computer as it stops me saying cannot because of 5 authorized.

As far as I'm aware, the only way to do it is to De-authorise All. You cannot simply de-authorise three without the other two.
Only once you have De-authorised All, can you then Authorise the two remaining computers that you are using.
Therefore this, combined with you "getting a message" saying that you have five authorised, suggests that you have not managed to achieve what you wish. Where - or rather how - did you "get this message"? If you look at your account information in the iTunes Store, what does it say under Computer Authorisations?

Doublechecking. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the instructions from the following document?

  • Cannot change account picture after upgrading to Mountain Lion.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard I cannot change account picture anymore.
The box which is supposed to contain picture previews just says "No items".
    Screenshot attached:
This is not limited to a particular account, trying to change the picture within any account leads to this problem.
Is there any solution for the issue?
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for the answer.
Sure I can drag a photo to the users profile and it works but those Default ones were quite useful for having no mess with setting custom picture.
MacBook Pro with same Snow Leopard -> Mountain Lion upgrade did not have such issue.

  • Security error: Cannot authorize operation for invalid non-ASCII URL

I have an error that popped up with Flash Player 10.1.85.3 or 10.1.82.76.
In our application, we load users' avatars with their original filename. Some filenames have non-ASCII characters (i.e. Hebrew, accents, or umlauts) and I can no longer load those files from a different subdomain.
For example, I'm trying to load this image (with the Loader class and a LoaderContext):
    http://photos.myawesomedomain.com/images/awesöme.jpg  (o with umlaut)
It comes to me encoded in UTF-8:
    http://photos.myawesomedomain.com/images/awes%C3%B6me.jpg  (umlaut converted to %C3%B6)
When I try to load the file from http://myawesomedomain.com/myawesome.swf, I get this error:
    *** Security Sandbox Violation ***
Connection to http://photos.myawesomedomain.com/images/awesöme.jpg halted - not permitted from http://myawesomedomain.com/myawesome.swf
Error: Cannot authorize operation for invalid non-ASCII URL http://photos.myawesomedomain.com/images/awesöme.jpg
If I try this with a player earlier than 10.1.82.76, it works. It also works if I move the file to the same domain as the SWF (http://myawesomedomain.com/images/awesöme.jpg) -- but that's not an option for me. Files without unusual characters work regardless of the player version.
The error occurs when I try to access the bitmap data of the loaded image. I've tried encoding the URL differently, but Flash always reports it as "http://photos.myawesomedomain.com/images/awesöme.jpg" - with the umlaut converted to strange characters. The cross domain file allow-access-from "*.myawesomedomain.com"
Has anyone run into this? Is there a way I can fix it without renaming the users' photos (we have tens of thousands of these)?
I feel like I must be missing something obvious; hardly anything comes up in Google for this, but I don't think it would be an uncommon problem.  I believe https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-5580 is related.
    Thanks!

The problem is based on the player version, not the browser.
The problem showed up in Chrome first because it auto-updates the player; when Firefox users installed the updated player, they started having the problem, too.
