Hello can you help,as I dont know computer speak & dont want to affend,could you point me in the right direction please. I upgaded iTunes (the last upgrade) but now my laptop says itunes cannot be read beacause it was created by a newer version of itunes. How can I get round this problem,do i put the latest update on?,plaese help, Old boy in crisis...

Hi All,
I recently installed Crystal Reports XI (11.0.0.1282) on my desktop and am trying to save a report to Crystal Enterprise 10. When i try to save it, i get the error above - "Access denied. You cannot log on to an older version of the CMS".
Is it possible to connect to CE 10 with CR XI or do i need to get CR 10 as well? I would have hoped there would be backward compatibility.

Hi,
CR 2008 is not compatible with BOE XI R2. The Crystal Reports 2008 report designer is unable to log into XI Release 2 or older servers.
The functionality that depends on an enterprise session is unavailable. If you are using one of these report servers(CRS XI/XIR2 or BOE XI/XIR2), we recommend you use the Crystal Reports XI or XI Release 2 report design tool.
The corresponding server for Crystal 2008 is BO XI R3 which will support all the new functionalities present in Crystal 2008.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Have subscription to current versions of indesign and photoshop, lost a laptop, need older versions

A couple of weeks back, I purchased subscriptions to Indesign and Photoshop, to use on a cutting edge mac laptop.
Then I lost the laptop. I have a police report if you'd like to see it.
Now I'm back running my older mac, with os x 10.5.8 on it. I've got a 10.6 snow leopard disc on the way.
I'd like to be able to download older versions of Indesign and Photoshop.
Even if they're 30-day trials, they'd be helpful, as I've got a project I'm working on I'd like to finish.

You won't get a call from an Adobe employee unless you call them first, and probably not then (the call-back track record is pretty poor). Nobody who is participating in this thread so far works for Adobe, by the way. We're just volunteer users doing our best to help others like you. We do know the current state of licensing and program availability, however, and the information you are getting is correct. Adobe has a price structure, including a few incentives for users of previous versions which don't happen to help you unless you upgrade your OS so you can run the CC subscription versions, and they are not going to change the pricing to make you, or me, or anyone else happy.
I'm sure you can probably find a version of CS3 for sale on the aftermarket, but be very careful. Most of the early version offers are either counterfeit or cannot be registered because they are not eligible for transfer being either education versions or part of the original owner's upgrade chain.

My iTunes programme on Windows PC has suddenly become corrupted and must be reinstalled. There are two things you can try here:
If you updated fairly recently, you can recover a backup copy of the library file made when you updated.

Or you can recreate your library from the xml file, this will be more up to date, but not all the metadata is recovered.

At the end of the article it tells you how to add files you your library if you don't have an xml file.
Anywhere it tells you to drag a file to the trash in either article, I would drag it to the desktop or another folder of your choice in case you need it later.
The second article also include links to general troubleshooting if iTunes will not start after recovering/recreating your library.

I have what I believe is a G1 itouch...
I had the Citrix receiver on it. I saw a message that said there was an update, so I updated..but now its the 4.0 version and as I understand my device doesnt support 4.0
So how can I get the older version back

If you're on Windows, check your Recycle bin for the former version. Restore that to its original location and delete the more recent copy. You'll need to re-add the older app to iTunes (just drag and drop the native file to iTunes) and then re-sync.

You need iTunes 9.2.1 if you're using 10.4.11 and iTunes 10.6.3 if you're using 10.5.8.

"itunes library cannot be read; created by newer version of itunes" message

My son clicked a message when he was downloading something the other day (he can't remember exactly what it said), but since doing so, if we try to open itunes we get the message: "the file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."
When he was using it at that time, he synced his iPod and lost everything he had purchased, both games and songs. He shut down the computer, and since that time, we are unable to even access iTunes at all. If you click on the icon you just get the message above. No one wants to risk plugging their iPod into it and losing thier songs since their is no back-up for the music.
There are 3 iPods working fron that computer and there were hundreds of purchased songs. We can't even open the library now, and my son lost a ton of stuff when he synced his trying to get his movie.
Any ideas?

Is that true : Adobe is likely to come out with a new version of Adobe reader that will not read Acrobat files which are created in older versions like 6 or 7

It is true that newer Reader versions are more sensitive to old (or new) documents that contain errors. But for correct documents, all new Reader versions are fully backwards compatible.

Blackberry just came out with new software for us Mac users, but its only compatible with OSX systems using 10.5 or higher. How can I find Pocketmac for BB version 4.1.25 now? I only have OSX 10.4 and my computer won't take the new software so I need to download the older version.

I use Google Chrome as my browser for WGT.com. The updates for Flashplayer are NOT compatible with this golf game. I used to be able to go to Chrome://plugins and disable the latest Flashplayer update because there were several older versions listed under the latest update. The older version of Flashplayer worked fine. Now when I go to the plugins screen, there is only the latest updated version (no older versions to choose from). How can I use an older (more compatible) Flashplayer version for this game? And why does the latest Flashplayer update NEVER work with the golf game (WGT.com)?

I am using a proprietary program that only works with an older version of Java. Before I start using Chrome or IE so that I can actually use my program, I thought I would give Firefox a chance to tell me how to fix this.

Depending on how obsolete it is, you might be able to set the plugin to "Ask to Activate" so you can activate it on demand. Older versions, however, may be hard blocked. To check on that, open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Then find the "Java(TM) Platform SE" entry and see whether you can select "Ask to Activate".
If so, when you visit a site that wants to use the plugin, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
